1.   Couldn't you have just summoned the Tour Guide and then special the one from your hand? Based on your hand it seems like you were going to do this regardless to make your Dragged Down live. Unless you didn't have any removed Dark Worlds, I don't see what's so hard about doing that play.   Ehh with all my browws still in the deck I'd rather blow the dragged down + I had used 1 the turn before, hence why that one was set, picking diva, and he topped a second one, so I knew his hand still. Picking the wrong card with grapha is what really got me... More monsters on the field, letting him mist wurm.. etc. it was just a horrible misplays all over.  It's funny what a little anger in your system will do to your play >.<
  2. Top 16 at ycs seatac I have gates, a set dragged down... grapha, storm, snow, tgu in hand to his 2 backrow + marksman, diva, dragoons. I know he's playing TT and Mirror force, so I plan to grapha a monster, then dragged down, and then storm his backrows. Of course I draw a second TGU, making my dragged down dead... I then sit there and think.. and think.. totally brain dead and still angry about my decklist error gameloss. instead of selecting a monster with Grapha... I reach past it and tap a S/t and instantly reel back wondering why the fuck I did that, then he flips sphere.  I then still am forced to storm him because if he has one of the 2 mirror force he played I would auto lose.. Then while still thinking about that misplay I leave his diva on board and get mist wurmed... If I hadn't have made even one of those plays I would have probably won that game, but two horrible plays in a row ruined my day.      PS. that DW player above wasn't me.

The real victory of this event.
  4. Dark World - Discussion

We have a radical thinker here, adding a card that's basically been a staple in this deck for 6 months...
  5. Dark World - Discussion

This is what I've been playing recently. Most of my main deck choices are the same as last format, since I still really prefer the defensive traps over reckless. SIde/Extra haven't really been touched.
  6. Dark World - Discussion

In theory I like 1 ddv and 2 eev. You'll never be mad drawing 2 eev like you would be drawing 2 ddv. Plus, you stop their spells and you basically win the game. But from all my DW testing before I fucking hate drawing too many viruses... just make the deck as consistent as possible and you'll win. Lessen those dead hands as much as possible.
  7. Dark World - Discussion

If you read back you'll see this debated on here plenty of times. People have done well with both recently, but the "Best builds" imo mostly use Silva. It's a big monster that's a threat on its own. You can summon beige and go for double grapha off a single monster, but you can't virus it... There's valid arguments for both.
  8. Dark World - Discussion

Less warning, Less Shock Master, and this is now the best deck that can play TGU. I think I'd still basically play the same deck as I played in Seattle. 3 mind crush could be really cute in this deck too for the whole virus, crush, you die play.
Why is that? 1 of each has been working pretty well for me, when I draw Sillva well, he's a 26 and he lets me resolve virus easier, when I draw beige I'm still okay with it plus can normal it. I do understand lvl 5 access is neat but I've never reached a spot where I think "man, I wish this was a sillva" when I draw a beige, and using 2 sillvas occasionally (rarely, but still) they clogged.
See, every time I drew beige I was saying to myself "Damn I wish this could be a Silva." The reason I really believe in 2 is because with a defensive trap, not a lot of decks can easily get past silva. Beige can't even get past thunder king or over armor... he's just too small. Also, if you have a tour guide + dragged down, I'd much rather have them discard a silva than a beige. You can put a LOT of damage on board suddenly and without warning with just silva plays. It's also amazing for baiting out there defensive traps. This isn't even bringing into account the viruses, or certain matchups where it's amazing.
Currently I am using Kevin's list with 3 reckless greed instead of two bottomless trap holes and pot of duality. Had a lot of success with in testings and locals. Reckless has been working well for me giving me that extra push to go off but it is still inconsistent if you draw them in singles or draw dead from them. Luckily, i won more games than lose so I'm not sure its correct for me to assume that they work or i just get lucky. Is it better to leave the bottomless and just not rely on the luck factor of reckless greed. Another point is I really wanted to fit bottomless in the deck so I'm currently replacing upstart goblins but I'm not sure how good of an idea it is. Most of the main contributors on this thread don't have any big events coming up, so they're not posting. I really prefer a standard consistent build over the cute teched out builds. This deck has the easiest way to constantly have a 3k beater on board and still have control elements... why would you want to skew that by playing some random dark necrofear crap? Just because it's fun? If that's why, take the fun deck to the deck garage, and leave this thread for the competitive builds.
  11.

Wow I made this deck and I can't draw Norleras for the life of me. I drew down to 6 cards in deck... 3 of them in there... for fuck sakes.
You're not supposed to draw Norleras. You aren't going to Summon it normally. You want to dump it, and copy its effect via PoC. The Dark World approach described by the OP suggests Gates as the dumping mechanism, but traditionally Armageddon Knight and Dark Grepher have been used. Lavalval Chain can also be used for said purpose. Summoner Monk into Armageddon Knight into Lavalval Chain sets everything up, but there's a reason Summoner Monk isn't seeing competitive play (i.e. Veiler/Warning/having Spells in hand and worth discarding). Before in Monk -> Crane/Lyla Chaos and the like, the rewards weren't worth the risk because Rank 4s weren't worth running more Spells and ditching Spells under risk of Veiler/Warning for them, but Lavalval Chain changes the equation especially for Combo Decks.
I understand that you're supposed to dump it with a DW card or Trade In... but for that you still need to draw it in the DW version. It's hard making DW as consistent as possible, so I don't see the point in adding all these inconsistent trash draws.

Here's the deck I played into top 16 at SeaTac. I'll be writing a report tomorrow sometime. It beat all 3 water decks I played day 1 quite easily. I had a game loss due to a decklist error in top 16 that put me on tilt and I misplayed that caused me to lose. I have no doubt that if I had been in a better place mentally for that game I would have been able to win the whole event. This deck is just so good vs the whole meta that I didn't have any trouble all weekend. Feel free to ask any questions.
I was all over the place with this deck in the months coming up to the event, but eventually I had the deck at the point where I just wasn't losing. The deck plays a lot more control based that Justin's build played, which ended up being a good call since people just walked into my traps all day. People need to make big plays to get around the reoccurring monsters, only to walk into removal. Good times. Good point on the rivalry... meh.. I've moved on to Mermail for now.. that deck is too much fun. I see absolutely no reason to play one day of peace in this deck. I almost always win by getting solid pluses on them every turn until I'm up 5 cards, or at the very least always going 1-for-1.
