    @war council ; I'm on SoS
  2. Tray Massengale's 2nd place YCS Dallas Report

    They really can't do anything against me except try and trigger a successful icarus. I out beatdown them and turn all their big synchro plays with blizzard/vayu offline thanks to necrovalley. Plus, I maindecked smashing ground which is really effective to counter their opening play of a f/u Shura and 3 backrows. They really struggled at killing any of my defense mode gk and I play more cards to counter black whirlwind then any other deck in the tournament! However, I usually autowin against them with either a successful royal tribute or starlight road. Those 2 cards make them scoop everytime.

    I didn't know there would be that many complete six sam decks with the set only being out for a week! I knew they were my worst matchup but I knew I would autowin against everything else and was hoping that would give me the advantage. *So sorry for the triple post!
  4. Tray Massengale's 2nd place YCS Dallas Report

    Yes sir. Luckily I played against it many times before and knew exactly how to counter it.
  5. Tray Massengale's 2nd place YCS Dallas Report

    Sure, i'll add it below my decklist
  6. Tray Massengale's 2nd place YCS Dallas Report

    Yea, thats a lot of freakin tacos! And I didn't know how bad people wanted me to defeat samurais until I made it to the semi finals. Then I got a lot of support!

My full legal name is Traviis Terrell Massengale but I go by Tray. I asked many times if they could change it to Tray during feature match coverage and pairings, but they said they couldn’t. In addition, I’m sorry for not having more details for my matches. I wasn’t intending on posting a tournament report. It’s also possible that I might have posted some of my matches out of order so I apologize for that as well. Day 1: Round 1: Me vs BW He beats me!!!! I couldn’t believe it. I was so discouraged because my deck ALWAYS auto wins against BWs but I actually lost this match. He managed to pump Bora and then Deck Dev me for massive advantage. I knew I was in for one heck of a competition at this YCS. Round 2: Me vs Hopeless Dragon I remember this game because he actually beats me game one with a massive Future Fusion play and I just couldn’t attack over his big monsters nor destroy anything thanks to Prime Material Dragon. Games 2 and 3 I realize that he was playing way too many tributes and I beat him down pretty fast. I 2-0 him Round 3: Me vs Monarchs Royal Tribute, Gozen Match, and Crevice Into the Different Dimension make short work of him. Round 4: Me vs BW Autowin Round 5: Me vs BW Autowin Round 6: Me vs BW Autowin Round 7: Me vs Paul Cooper (Empty Jar) Out of the entire tournament, this is the thing that I feel the most upset about. Before the round, we discussed that if we were to play each other that we would intentionally tie. However, once pairings were posted, the judges made an announcement about how slow play would be enforced more and penalties would be more severe. After getting in trouble at the Kansas City regionals the week prior for tying, I decided against it. I spoke to Paul about it before the match and my feelings against it and I thought he understood. I won the dice roll and barely managed to stop his deckout combo thanks to a first turn Necrovalley and Royal Tribute. Game 2, he side decked into Light Stun and I manage to quickly make short work of that as well. After the round, he storms off and I try many times throughout the event to apologize to him but he refuses to speak to me. Round 8: Me vs Jason Halloway (Lightsworn) Before this round, I was really intimidated to duel against him. Luckily I won the dice roll, opened with Royal Tribute and managed to Solemn Judgement his Solar Recharge for game. He wins game 2 but I manage to lock him down game 3 for the win. Round 9: Me vs Jarel Winston (Six sam) Really cool guy. I beat him game one thanks to a massive opening Royal Tribute, but he comes back and annihilates me game 2 and 3. I was happy that this was my only six sam matchup of the day since they are by far my hardest matchup. At the end of day 1, I was in 55th place with a record of X-2 so I would continue playing in the swiss rounds on Sunday. My friends and I were extremely hungry and decided to grab some Jack N’ the Box at 1AM after the tournament. My friend decided to order 6 tacos and a chicken sandwich with a large fry. I thought that was a rather large request for one person but didn’t think too much of it….that is until he asked the cashier “can you triple that?” Day 2: We wake up early and check out of our hotel. We arrive to the event with plenty of time to spare. Round 10: Me vs BW Autowin I then found out that my friend Wes (the taco incident guy) just traded for a super set of GK Spies for me. I asked him if I could use them. He told me only if I win. I said “Deal”. Round 11: Me vs BW What luck! Autowin! After the smoke clears, I find out that I’m in 20th place! Top 32, here I come. Top 32: Me vs Debris Plants I thought game 1 was as an autowin for me but he manages to Cold Wave me, in which I Solemn, and then Giant Trunade’s me and does Black Rose Dragon’s 0atk mode effect on my spy for game. Game 2 and 3 I manage to beat him thanks to one card and one card only. Gozen Match!!! GG Top 16: Me vs BW What luck again!!!!!! autowin, Autowin, AUTOWIN!!!!!!!! Top: 8 http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=5098 I duel against my LS friend here in Topeka,KS all the time so I knew exactly what to do. I must admit though, I did get lucky by topdecking that Smashing Ground during game 1, but what can I say? Everyone gets one epic topdeck of the weekend. Top 4: http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=5138 It was funny because this guy thought that he was dueling against the mirror matchup the whole time and no one told him different. He was a really cool guy though and dueled well. He was the ONLY six sam duelist I defeated all weekend. Top 2: http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=5131 Wow, my brain couldn’t even process. It didn’t even feel like this was the finals. It felt like it was just another ordinary duel in my basement with my friends on a Friday night. I felt so calm and happy and never expected to get this far. We decided to have fun and roll 4 dice to see who goes first. I rolled and got a 13, and he rolled and got a 13 as well! Wow, what are those odds? We roll again and I get an 11 and he gets a 12! Wow, epic. I just lost the most important die roll of the weekend. I took his hand, and he took mine and I said “We Got this!” and he says “Yea, I know.” It was definitely one epic duel but in the end, he came out on top. Good game buddy. It was a great way to finish off one heck of a weekend. Props: Wes Carter for being the best friend a person can ever ask for and taking care of all of the trading while I was dueling in the jump. He is my biggest supporter and there is no doubt in my mind that I could not have done this without him. Thanks migo! Jesse Bluvan for allowing me to borrow his Pot of Duality, Max “C”, and 2 Thunder King Rai-Oh. Roy St. Claire for helping me with my main and side deck at the hotel. Ryan Newburn for just being an awesome friend. Josh Turley for driving a huge majority of the trip so I could catch up on some sleep. All the KC people from Collector’s Cache for being huge supporters to me throughout the event and cheering me on. The guy who turned my trade book in to the lost in found . THANKS AGAIN! Slops: The embarrassing taco incident. Wow, 18 tacos at 1 AM. What fat ***es. Paul Cooper being mad at me. I’m sorry Paul. I just wanted to do the right thing…
