1. Dragon Rulers - Discussion

Been trying the deck for a couple of days and alot of questions are popping up: -What are ppl's though on Forbidden chalice? i know BTS is considered better, but i'd still want to hear about chalice. -On that matter, if i chalice my own E-drag during my opponent's turn, can i decide weither or not it returns to my hand at the end phase? -What do ppl do when they only draw into 2 drags on the first hand? do they pass or do they summon 1 E-drag for protection -If all i can make is a lvl 8 synchro on my first turn, which 1 should i make if i dont know what im facing?   i have many more questions but hose are the 1 im most curious about.
Cerato sort of fills that role already The Rank 6 is a little better than people realize. Unlike Laggia, you don't have to burn any XYZ material to save it from effect destruction, plus its negation effect is pretty flexible, like Dolkka's.
The only problem is it doesn't negate, it just destroys.
unless im missing something, even if it doesn't negate, only the few monsters with trigger effect can be a problem (trish, blackrose, etc) while solda is on the field. Monsters with ignition effects (hyperion, sorcerer, dark armed, etc) cant use their effects because solda's effect is a trigger effect so the opponent player cant use priority on their monster's special summon.
regardless, solda's first effect protects it from destruction I think they can still use priority since its effect is optional but I'm not totally sure myself
i know solda is protected from destruction regardless, but they could want to pop something else before being destroyed by it, or try to remove solda with sorc or BLS. Even if its optional, trigger effect can always activate and start a chain as soon as the conditions are meet, therefor nullifying player priority if you choose to use solda's effect
Please tell me how else you expect to make Vulcanno live without taking minuses? Hm?
By using it as a "late game" saur. forcing the summon of vulcano too early without proper grave doesn't give any advantage unlike the other possible plays early game.
  5. Evol - Discussion
You're overlooking his first effect which currently says dump an Evolsaur. The card is worth running with that in mind alone it's basically this deck's prisma. The second effect is icing on the cake.
the reason i dont particularly like the dump effect is because vulcano doesn't become a +1, it become a +0. (why else would you dump a saur in the grave with the current rooster) you need 1 card to dump, then 1 card to summon: 2 cards, 2 monster with nothing else instead of 1 card later (when grave is already set up) for a definite +1 off vulcano. the card isn't terrible but it wont become 1 of the "main" evoltiles. it will be run as a 0-1 maybe 2 for its cool potential plays(theres alot of neat things it can do), but is unrelyable otherwise.
  6. Evol - Discussion

If it is summoning the evoltile: (man, i dont want to rewrite all of it, ill make it short and hope it make sense) vulcano play: Lagosuchus + evo-force (without force, it would be better to set it) -> get a 'zar with 2 cards other play with najasho or westlo: najasho + evo force -> get a 'zar with potential +1-2 from diplo/cerato (westlo is basicly the same thing, but 1 turn later if we consider the +'s) What im trying to say is that its not the optimal evoltile to use in most circumstances. The RotA coming in the same set can do almost anything the new evoltile can, but better: -if you have an evo-force in hand, rota najasho -if you dont, rota westlo or casi With that, i dont see why i'd play the evoltile. i'll most definetly try it, but im not hyping/hoping much out of it. on a side note, the only thing the card can set up that no other card so far can is making a rank 3 xyz when u have cards to back it up. Thats the reason why i'd play 1 of it in the deck, and just tutor it whenever you see a potential play like that. Cuz otherwise, the other evoltiles will do the job better.
  7. Evol - Discussion
wat i don't agree with this at all lol the evotile offers us what people in this thread have been begging for in one package; an evoltile recruiter and a themed card to set up volcano plays. It's definitely on par with Westlo lol Him dying while being flipped face up is irrelevant cause he's guaranteed to replace himself. The optimal target for this effect is Casinera who fucks shit up.If you have the evoforce in hand or an enemy controller why wouldn't you bring out Najesho. Why are you stating this like its a con The rota will basically make you run lower numbers of the evotiles since you can just search them out with it. Duh
i had a reply to this. but i notice the translations changed and its not "summoning an evoltile" anymore, its "summoning an evolsaur" which changes everything. If thats truly the effect, then its definetly on par with westlo minus the survivability. Unless, for some reason, it doesn't get its effect when attacked face-down.
  8. Evol - Discussion
how is the new evoltile bad? I want your opinion
there isn't really any space to spare for the new evoltile. if we compare it to other commonly used evoltiles, its effects aren't in par with the likes of westlo or najasho.I can see some interesting possibilities with it like: normal summoning it, send a saur to the grave then use evo force to bring out vulcano, etc. But most of the potential plays aren't better than what the currently used evoltiles already do. i see where your going with being able to make rank 3's. but that would be relying on its second effect of being flipped face up which isn't relyable because of its extremely low def (500). unlike westlo, you cant set it unprotected. it could instead be used to bring out najasho (if it get atked and die) to be used for cool play the next turn tho, but thats situational on what u have in hand. with the RotA coming as well, it could see some play as a 1 of in the deck for cool potential plays, but it'd most likely wont take the spotlight of the current line-up of monsters. i'll retract what i said about it being "pretty bad", its not terrible but it is over shadowed by the 2 new spell cards and i'll definetly spare more space for those than the 2 new monsters.
  9. Evol - Discussion

So i was looking at the new evol cards coming in galactic overlord earlier today. the new monsters are pretty bad, but the 2 new spells are pretty awesome but i was wondering something about the "murmillo"-ish 1 Compensation of Evolution: Once per turn, if a monster is Special Summoned by an "Evoltile" monster: You can target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. can its effect activate during the opp's turn? (westlo flip by battle or something)
  10. Evol - Discussion

seems better, but i think u should cut a diplo and/or a vulcano for a 3rd enemy controler or MSTs. you dont need to max them cuz u dont really want to draw them anyway and pot of avarice will recycle them once they're off the deck
  11. Montreal Top 8 Decklists
He didn't even side against me in top 8. Probably should have since I 2-0ed him.
you 2-1ed me (its also written in your report) and i didn't side because all i wanted (if i toped) was the mat so i didn't care about winning anymore at that point (to win a weird binder?) the deck obviously have its flaws, im still working on it. it was purely meant as a fun deck, was not expecting to top with it
  12. Darwin's Theory

none of this stuff is ocg only
  13. Darwin's Theory

decks that rely on big boss monsters (agents, dark world) are a hard matchups for evols, so you mostly have to rely on your sidedeck to win those. Crows and kycoo are really good against dark world and allow you to get rid of grapha which is really... the only problem. kycoo, TKR and leeching the light are also really good sidedecks vs agents
  14. Darwin's Theory

i though about it also, but i never found myself in need of more than 1 dolkka as i almost always go for laggia unless i know exactly whats in his hand. surprisingly so far, the armory arm's been more useful than a second dolkka would have
  15. Darwin's Theory

TKRs in the side, dont own any maxx C and dont plan to buy any. CED as been doing better than prison for this deck so far
