1. Why plants are bad.

They're bad because I play them. No but seriously I don't think they're bad. I'm bored at work so I threw this together. This is what I would probably play if I went to Toronto. Total: 41 2 Thunder King Rai-Oh 2 Tour Guide From The Underworld 2 Debris Dragon 2 Effect Veiler 2 Snowman Eater 2 Card Trooper 1 Sangan 1 Lonefire Blossom 1 Spore 1 Dandylion 1 Maxx "C" 1 Spirit Reaper 1 Caius the Shadow Monarch 1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness 1 Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning .21. 2 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Dark Hole 1 Monster Reborn 1 Heavy Storm 1 Mind Control 1 Enemy Controller 1 Book Of Moon 1 Scapegoat 1 Pot of Avarice 1 One For One 1 Foolish Burial .12. 2 Solemn Warning 2 Dimensional Prison 2 Torrential Tribute 1 Call of the Haunted 1 Solemn Judgment .8. 1 Wind-Up Zenmaines 1 Leviair the Sea Dragon 1 Number 17: Leviathan Dragon 1 Steelswarm Roach 1 Number 39: Utopia 1 Formula Synchron 1 Armory Arm 1 Ally of Justice Catastor 1 Magical Android/T.G. Crow 1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Bottomless Trap Hole 2 Mirror Force/ Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror 1 Dust Tornado 1 Dimensional Prison So yeah, I just threw the side and extra together real quick but this is about it. I'll probably play this for a bit regardless so critiques welcome obviously.
  2. Sea Lancer Monarch

Have you considered Mother Grizzly at all? Good with Creature Swap and searches out Lancer.
I really like dark world to top in this format at least for the first month or so and this build looks great but I'd add something for when you go up with another dark world it's so common at locals here.
I don't know how long I'll stick with Dark World, but from what I've tested my mirrors aren't trouble at all. I'll be making changes after Toronto and hopefully I'll be attending Indianapolis so we'll see how it shapes up.
  4. Dark World - Discussion

How are everyone's trap lineups looking? I've been testing a bit as I was planning on taking this to Toronto, and my main concern was the mirror match. My traps ended up looking like: 3 Reckless 2 Torrential 2 D Prison 2 Bottomless 1 Solemn 1 RftDD 1 Mind Crush Return has been absolutely clutch and the mirror definitely got a bit better with the mained Bottomless and Prisons. I wasn't playing Dealings either, I replaced them with 2 DW Lightining (love this card right now), and triple Upstart to keep up some of the draw power, but recently decided to take out the Upstarts for 2 Dealings and the Mind Crush (which tested fairly well to my surprise, was never a card that worked well for me). I'll be doing some more testing today so it may change a little but so far I'm really happy with the way this has tested.
Sangan isn't worth it. I also recommend only one Beiige.
Sangan was subpar pre-side. Wasn't a ton better post side either though. I've always liked 2 Beiige but maybe I'll try dropping a Beiige and Sangan for a Trance and then leave it at 40 total?
  6. Dear G-d

So I was able to test a bit today and I think that I'm going to try a couple changes. -2 Skill Drain -2 DDV -1 Duality +2 D Prison +2 Bottomless +1 Dealings/Lightning Lightning tested really well, I kinda want to test a second one. I'd prefer it over Dealings due to the mirror (which I saw a lot of at locals) but both will be tested. Duality was good, but the need for discard outlets was prevalent from time to time and Duality can prevent big pushes after getting those outlets from it. Deck Dev was dead a lot. It certainly has its pros but if I do it will be 1 at most. Drain was subpar for me mained (mirrors mostly but even when it wasn't it didn't help a TON). Drain and D Prison will swap spots in the main in the side. There were times all day I wished I had some protection, so I'll test the 2 Bottomless and 2 Prison over Drains and DDV so I don't sacrifice whatever speed I have.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ng2JnoZ7jIo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Alright, so I've been out of the game since just after YCS Toronto of last year. I had kept up with the game a little here and there but for the most part missed all of the bad things about Wind Ups and everything. Due to this past list and format, a lot of my good friends have quit the game, but I missed the travelling and playing the game so I decided to give it another shot. Dark World was the only real thing I had going for me after I sold pretty much all of my stuff last year, so why not. Everything is theory at the moment, and as I said I didn't keep up with too much so it's based off somewhat limited knowledge. All help is greatly appreciated. Total: 41 Monsters (14) 3 Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World 3 Snoww, Unlight of Dark World 3 Broww, Hunstman of Dark World 2 Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World 2 Tour Guide From The Underworld 1 Trance Archfiend Spells (15) 3 The Gates Of Dark World 3 Dragged Down Into The Grave 2 Dark World Dealings 2 Dark World Lightning 1 Monster Reborn 1 Heavy Storm 1 Dark Hole 1 Card Destruction 1 Foolish Burial Traps (11) 3 Reckless Greed 2 Torrential Tribute 2 Dimensional Prison 2 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Solemn Judgment 1 Return From The Different Dimension Side (15) 2 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Soul Taker 2 Skill Drain 2 Mind Crush 1 Dark Smog 1 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 1 Deck Devastation Virus Extra (15) 2 Wind-Up Zenmaines 1 Temtempo the Percussionist Djinn 1 Leviair the Sea Dragon 1 Number 17: Leviathan Dragon 1 Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction 1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1 Steelswarm Roach 1 Photon Papilloperative 1 Number 39: Utopia 1 Number C39: Utopia Ray 2 Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis 2 Stardust Dragon So that's my rough list. Some notes: - I had Doomcaliber Knight main decked over the Skill Drains (extra beater plus target for DDV), but decided to take it out due to Maxx "C"s and Effect Veilers being easy outs to it, as they don't really effect the deck to begin with. So I swapped them as people will likely side out their Veilers and Cs for s/t removal. - I'm a little iffy on 2 DDV but I'll test it before I change it. - Mind Crush seems good in theory to me as against Wind Up, they have to reveal Shark and such, plus obviously it combos well with DDV and Dragged Downs. Plus any Sangan searches, etc. Obvious things. - One copy of Lightning seems okay to me, seeing as everyone thinks there will be a rise in the play of D Prison and Bottomless. Thought about either maining or siding a second copy but we'll see. - One copy of Duality to try to rectify some of those sketchy hands. I've always been a fan of at least 1 Duality. - No Upstarts, I just feel like some of the other cards were just better choices. - No Allure. I was never a fan of Allure with lower monster counts. - Iffy on Card Destruction due to the number of potential mirrors, may drop to make 40. - I've always liked Ryko in the side for Dark World, plus Night Assailant will let me reuse them when needed. And yeah, I can explain anything if you'd like! Thanks!

Originally I was going to play T.G. but I used to play plants (before I sold my TGU's before the September list), and was much more comfortable with them so I threw this together the night before. I never really had a bad hand, and lost due to my own misplays or them drawing really well. I guess I should mention that I ended up going 2-2 drop, losing to Agents twice (first round and fourth round, lost to Warnings on my Gorz games 2 and 3 round one, and game 3 I almost otk'd with Scrap Dragon, BLS, and Leeching the Light over his Armory Arm, but he had Honest). Between those rounds and some games I played on the side, I'm overall fairly satisfied with the deck itself. Going back, the only changes I think I'd make would be to drop the Duality and the D.D. Crow for 2 Caius, and then change around the extra and side a little bit. I'll probably continue to play this until I get my invite.
  9. Here Am I

Bump. Made a couple changes. I'll more than likely be taking this deck to the regionals in Rochester on November 6th so all help is appreciated.

Bottomless Trap Hole The Transmigration Prophecy has been really good for me. I was against it at first but it's chainable and can disrupt some of my opponents plays as well as recycle my own monsters. At the moment I prefer Dimensional Prison to Bottomless, but couldn't cut it completely. Two Horn of the Phantom Beast has been good too, I find that three clogged a lot. I feel like King Tiger is going to be really good, especially when backed by horn and 2-3 other backrow. I've always missed Mystical Space Typhoon in this deck, one has been okay but I'm also thinking of playing Heavy Storm over it, or finding room for a second (maybe dropping the Bottomless to the side or cutting a Dimensional Prison). Blah blah blah, things you all probably know already. 15 Extra Deck Cards 1. Number 17: Leviathan Dragon 2. Number 39: Utopia 1. T.G. Wonder Magician 1. Ally of Justice Catastor 1. T.G. 11. YCS Toronto, 5-3 Record

You're still a whore for that regional haha. Did you at least get you're invite? Never mind, read the last part of your report. Rough beats dude, should have scooped to me The last regional they held was only like 11 people or something, Vince and I each had buys round 1, but we ended up playing against each other. the Bellido's were in it too, but some chick beat Vince in the finals.
  12. YCS Toronto

From some of the testing I did, Kochi was better for me than Jin, but I have considered dropping a Bora for a Jin and playing both. There's something I don't like about only playing 2 Shura targets (that I'd want to bring out at least). Plus Vayu and Sirocco weren't good for me at all so he's my last option really haha.
  13. YCS Toronto

I was siding one before, but then I changed a lot around and essentially the Kycoo tooks its place. I want to play one, but at the same time something inside me tells me not to play one for some reason haha. I'm still debating putting it in my side over the single Kycoo, but if I were to main it I'm not sure what I'd take out. Most people would say the Lance or Smashing I'm assuming but both have been testing really well for me. Any suggestions?
  14. YCS Toronto

Sorry, didn't see your post before. It was a typo, 3 Blizzard, 2 Bora, not the other way around. Vayu I don't like playing without Sirocco, but I may tech a Sirocco over the Mind Crush so I'll test Vayu over the Kochi as well. Also, as good as Soldier is, I don't want to run it simply because with my luck it'll sit dead in my hand for turns and cost me the game or something. Plus space is tight. Originally I was testing it over Gorz, but I feel like Gorz is the safer bet over the course of the tournament. I'm going to test Sirocco and Vayu over the Mind Crush and Kochi at locals Thursday and in some matches before/after that, and make a decision then. I can see where it may be better, but I'm still iffy on it. Plus if I decide to board them, I'm dropping Librarian for a Silverwind since there are some nifty plays, otherwise it'll be a Colossal Fighter since I side Skill Drain.

My bad, when I edited the deck to take out a Bora I accidentally took out a Blizzard instead. Fixed that. And Torrential was always my pick over Mirror Force, but it's a tough call this time around. I like that Torrential is chainable, but it's been dead a lot more often than Mirror Force. I'm still testing between the two, and I don't think I'll make a decision until I'm writing my decklist out. Whether I end up making the right choice or not is a different story haha. Edit: Roach was another thing I forgot to change on the list haha. I added it in over a second Utopia. Also, Sirocco was dead almost all of the time I had it in hand. But it does come down to preference, and I don't like it since I'm not playing Vayu either. -shrugs-
