Seems like an interesting Monarch engine. Edit: Cancel that, Roger.
  3. I made an edit to my post before you posted. Our "previous opinions" were, of course, shaped by history and our perception of it. I completely agree with what you said.
  4. Please keep in mind that, even if Zimmerman had not been "racist" in the strict sense of the word, this case is very much a racial issue. Martin would not have died at the hands of Zimmerman that night were he not black (this is very different from saying "he shot him because he was black"). Zimmerman probably wouldn't have raised shit tons of money were Martin not black. No matter what you think caused the event to take place, what Martin represents to a portion of white America, and the parallels this case shares with other not-so-distant cases in history - where young black men are harmed unjustly by police/whites (spare me the "He's part hispanic" shit) and the American justice system failed them - certainly makes it a racial issue. It is just idiotic to say that the case is not about race when it clearly as. As I said before, this is much bigger than Martin and Zimmerman. You don't get to choose if the case is a racial issue or not. It is, because we, with the media's assistance, made it that way. But still, it is...The media may have brought it to our attentions and beat it into our heads, but we all brought our own previously-held opinions in too...
  5.   I respect your right to an opinion, but do you realize how ignorant you make it sound when you say you understand why SENSIBLE BLACK PEOPLE care so much about this case? It's because Trayvon Martin was black? So if he was white, black people wouldn't give two shits if Zimmerman killed him? This case, internally has nothing to do with race. Externally, maybe Zimmerman was racist, maybe Martin is racist, for all we know, they both were. However, the case was ruled in air of the law, and that is how it should be.  I say sensible black people because there are MANY who literally only see this as white on black crime, and are saying things now like "Fuck white people", and are literally shooting in response to the verdict (I can hear them). Those people are wrong.   Yes, much of the reason Travon Martin is so important is because he was black...it wouldn't be a repeat of history regarding police, the justice system, and racial profiling if he weren't black. Like I said, this case is so significant NOT because of why Zimmerman shot Travon, but why he was following him in the first place, how police responded, and how the jury decided, combined with the history of similar cases. I assume you have at least some knowledge of such history. I don't give a rat's ass about George Zimmerman. It's what the case represents that had me upset at the verdict. Given the way the trial played out, if I were on the jury, I would likely have come to the same conclusion. and yet, I am still upset.   Let me ask you this...how many white people would care if Zimmerman happened to be black or Travon was white? In the former case, barely any, and in the latter, there would be likely never have been a stalking/fight/murder to speak of because white kids don't face that kind of profiling.
  6. This.   What pisses me off is the fact that i'm reading shit like "They got OJ, we got Zimmerman", and comments about rapists, murderers, and thieves from Zimmerman supporters (in my city) that have nothing to do with the case. An innocent kid died and it could have been prevented. I would think everyone felt something bad in that, but as always I have too much faith in people.   I never believed that Zimmerman was a cold blooded murder or anything. I believe he was a wannabe cop who stalked a kid; the kid himself was a tough guy; they clashed, and the guy with the gun won. But Zimmerman, being the initial aggressor, an adult, and a supposedly responsible gun owner could and should be held responsible for a murder he could have prevented. Even if, legally, he deserved to win, I just don't see how any non-racist person (or someone without some negative view on blacks) couldn't even find any MORAL wrong in Zimmerman's actions.   Also, perhaps this has nothing to do with anything anyone has stated in this thread, but I hope you all can understand why (sensible) black people care so much about this case, given the history of race relations, the American criminal justice system, and the relationship between police and black America. It has so much more to do with the American justice system and race relations than it does Zimmerman and Martin.   Forgive me if I seem to be ranting madly; i'm finding it hard to think clearly at the moment. I'm going to go to bed and hope I can respond more clearly in the morning.
  7. I googled him because I hadn't listened to his work. The name sounded familiar in the same sense that Rush Limbaugh does though. The fact that the first line I found by googling his name presents me with an accurate (you tell my if i'm right) sense of his view on the case is why I will not take anything he says serious. I don't listen to "liberal radio hosts" with any seriousness either, for what it's worth.
  8. "Sean Hannity is a conservative talk show host..."   I wonder what his opinions on the case are?
  9. If you mean the new one, then that's true. If you're implying that that's the only one you haven't seen, then you've seen at least 3 James Franco movies and are just spewing names of people who's faces you can't remember.     Also, jimmy fallon.  Well, not really. I assumed Pax said that because James Franco is the new Spiderman character. If he was in the other 3, then even if you played the movies in front of me right now, I wouldn't be able to point out anyone and say "Oh, THATS James Franco", because i've never knowingly seen any of his work I can associate with him. I don;t even know what he looks like.   If I showed you a random movie with an ensemble cast that included someone by the name of, say "Bart Johnson", you would be speaking the truth by later saying you have no idea who the hell Bart Johnson is, even though you had unknowingly watched a movie he was in. Ok you've misunderstood the meaning of this thread entirely then. It's meant to be about people who are famous for stupid reasons and shouldn't be famous. I chose jimmy fallon because i just dont find anything he did good at all. Not knowing who someone is is just ignorance. Try again. I'd suggest you re-read the OP then. Penelope Cruz and Ja Rule (though, in hindsight, his work IS trash) aren't famous for stupid reasons...   If that were the case, then I'd like to go ahead and state the obvious Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, every child of a celebrity who hasn't done shit, etc etc.

  12.   James Franco is actually one of the most versatile actors currently. Transitioning from headlining huge blockbusters like Oz to independent films directed by controversial cult filmmakers in addition to directing on his own is pretty fascinating. Im sure he's famous for something, but I don't/didn't know why...never seen him or any of his movies that I know of, but I hear his name rather frequently...
