  1. SalvoChaos

Naturia Beast + Oppression doesn't happen enough to warrant shitty cards like MST. You're talking borderline Magical Christmas Land here. Stun at one is fine. Seven Tools does the job the second one does, only better at times. I had two Stun for a while, but it just didn't get there like Seven Tools does. Haven't had a problem against Sabers yet, except when they go Cold Wave -> Nut out when I'm not holding a Fader.

  3. Top 8 Orem, Utah

Friday Got packed and shit. Got picked up around 3:45 in the afternoon, and took off. Matt, Pancakes, Chris, and Matt were all in the car as well as me. I had made some mix CDs the night before consisting of retarded music like Aqua, Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and much much more. It was an entertaining ride, to say the least. Had to make two detours on the way to pick up cards, but they finished off everyone's deck in the long run. We get there at around 10:30pm. We eat at Ihop, shit was amazing, then go back and do a little playtesting. I change my main by about 3 cards, and tweak my side with tech for what I predicted the meta to be. I get about 3 hours of sleep. Saturday Wake up, shower, get dressed. Me, Matt, and Pancakes are all rockin' dress shirts and pajama pants, with Matt and myself rockin' Slippers and Pancakes having some Dress Shoes. We were hella comfy all day. Head to the store, and sign up. I feel confident in my list, and have no second thougths writing it out. Get the packs, rip and Ulti Scrap Dragon which I sold for $20 to get back my entry. Chill and what not, and then it starts to rain outside. Fuck my life because I smoke, and Utah has a retarded clean air act which means we have to smoke at least 25 feet from a door. Player meeting starts at about 11. Rounds start about half an hour after. ~150 People, 8 rounds, top 16 get invites. Round 1 [Table 53] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs Taylor (Sabers) I kinda know Taylor, kinda not. He topped the last Idaho regional, so I knew he was at the very least a decent player, but I gave him a lot more credit than that justifiably. We have to stand in the back room because our table got Boggarted for one of the players who required a table. Wasn't too bad, but still lame. Game 1 I open Sarco for Dark Armed, Pot for I think Salvo, and set Dekoichi + 3 Backrow. He goes like set 2 backrow, set monster, pass. I flip Deko, draw, sac for Caius and target his monster. He Torrentials and I shrug as I see Darksoul hit the grave. Turns progress and I'm waiting to draw a second Salvo, as the first one got Solemn'd. I play it out, and have Fader after his Trap Stun -> Hyunlei play, but he didn't have Faultroll to capitalize. I draw the second Salvo, go Cold Wave -> Black Rose -> Dark Armed and he can't recover to a Sorcerer the next turn. Game 2 I went Cold Wave -> Dark Armed and he had no response. He drew pretty dead, after I opened Sangan + Pot for Chain Disappearance + 4 Backrow. Warnings put in work here to stop the Boggart plays. 1-0 Round 2 [Table 21] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs Darin (ChaosStun) Game 1 It takes me many turns to figure out what he's playing. I see Gale on turn 2 and think Blackwings, but his turn 5 Doomcalibur made me suspicious. Then he dropped Veiler on something and removed for Sorcerer. I Book his target then go for my own Sorcerer next turn, and he flips Oppression. I flip Solemn, and the game then goes into a grind fest. It takes me forever to get over his backrow with my mediocre hand. I remember playing Sorcerer a total of 4 times. Game 2 He opens Doomcal + 4 Backrow. I Veiler to pop it off the field. I set Deko and 3 backrow, being Stun, Seven Tools, and Mirror. He pushes, I Mirror. Next turn I flip Dekoichi, Sac for Caius, target one of his backrow, he chains Bottomless. I go Trap Stun, he Solemns, I Seven tools. By the time he can answer the Caius I had too many cards up on him. 2-0 Round 3 [Table 2] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs Philip (Blackwings) I fear this matchup. It's very hard to play around Icarus, even with my Floaters. Game 1 I open strong with Alchemist hitting Salvo. I draw a Dekoichi the next turn. He's forced to make a bad Mirror Force play on a used Deko and an Alchemist, giving me the Salvo. I hear Cold Wave -> Black Rose -> Dark Armed + Sorcerer is sacky. Game 2 A Slower paced game. I know at one point I trunade his 4 backrow when I have Caius and Trooper to his Sirocco. He flips Icarus, targetting both monsters. I flp Decree, he chains Seven Tools. I draw Allure, play the Allure, remove Gorz after drawing Book and Reborn, and Reborn Sorcerer and Swing. He sets 3 backrow, says go, I end phase Decree and he scoops. 3-0 I'm feeling good going into this round. The deck had played solid all day. Round 4 [Table 2] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs ??? (Sabers) I can't remember the guys name :x Game 1 I don't remember this game much. I know I pretty much control it with a key Gorz -> Dark Armed play. Game 2 He has Boggart and Darksoul mid game. He summons Pashuul, makes Naturia Beast, and swings. He hits by Alchemist and Deko. Alchemist gets me Fader, and I draw. On my turn I draw Thunder King. I crash into his Boggart to prevent a Faultroll play and pass with Gorz in hand and a set Trap Stun. He swings, I stun, and drop Gorz safely on the Naturia Beast. The Naturia Beast was huge to him, as I had Cold Wave, Salvo, Dark Hole, Dark Armed, and Reborn in hand. I draw, shift Gorz to defense, and suicide the token. He lets it pass, and I pass. He sets a 3rd backrow and passes. I play Cold Wave, make Scrap Archfiend with Salvo, play Dark Armed, and play the Sorcerer I drew. He scooped it up. 4-0. Round 5 [Table 2] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs Leo (Samurai) I was kinda mindfucked going into this. He had apparently been drawing the nuts all day. Game 1 He opens United, Gateway, RotA -> Zanji, Zanji, Grandmaster, Draw 2. I'm like FUUUUUUUUUUUUU. I grind out the game somehow, and it comes down to me going Fader. I have Salvo in hand with a set Dekoichi. Too many Darks for Dark Armed, which I hadn't drawn, but I was in a pickle. I go Trap stun, he allows it. I play Salvo, synch up to Dark End, Send his Grandmaster to the Grave, swing over Irou. I pass. He doesn't draw a monster and ends. He has a Gateway, so almost anything is game. I draw Warning. I set the Warning with 2100 left, and set Dekoichi. He draws, plays Zanji, I Warning. I draw Solemn, set it, swing, pass. He draws Irou, plays it, and I Solemn. I KNOW he has a Grandmaster in hand from a Gateway the turn I played Fader. I do some quick math, and decide to go for game. I need to draw almost any monster for game not named Spirit Reaper, Battle Fader, or Sangan. I flip Dekoichi, and draw CyDra. I sac Dekoichi as insurance, swing for 4200 to drop him to 1100. He picks up a Samurai and I scoop. Game 2 I don't remember this game much, but I heard Trap Stun is still pertty good. Game 3 This game was clutch. He opens up with Consecrated and a backrow. I look at my first 5 and see double CyDra. I play CyDra, he facepalms, I swing. Game progresses, and he reveals a Decree but still has his hand on it, and doesn't confirm the play, but I got some very valuable information from it. I keep an eye on the position of it, and let play continue. Finally, I set up a Sorcerer play on a Grandmaster, and I get Bottomless'd. I have 2 Bottomless and Solemn Judgment set, and He Decrees. He draws, sets a backrow, passes. I play Salvo, go into Archfiend, and swing. He attempts T Roar and I point to his Decree. He facepalms, draws, and offers the handshake. 5-0 Didn't expect it to be quite honest, but I did tell everyone on the trip with me that I was going to top this regional because I was extremely comfortable with the deck and nobody knew how to play against floaters. Round 6 [Table 1] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs Leo (Blackwings) Fuck me Game 1 I remember bits and pieces. He tells me he opened 3 Kalut at the beginning of the game, and even with Whirlwind he didn't have much to do. I didn't see a single Bora or Shura the entire game, so I controlled the board a lot more than he did. Anytime he brought down a Blizzard I didn't let it or the Synchro resolve, so I had the game in my favor and picked it up. Game 2 I open Book, Caius, Caius, Book, Decree. I draw Salvo. He opens Allure, Whirlwind, Shura. Sup. Game 3 This game was CLUTCH. He has 3 backrow set, draws, and sets a monster. I had set 4 backrow. I drew, played CyDra, and swung into an assumed Vayu + Icarus play. I was correct, and he flips Icarus, tributing the Vayu. I flip Starlight Road, and ask "I assume you have Solemn?" and he says no. I look at him and ask him if he's serious, and then he says that the Stardust will win me the game. It did, from there. He had to make Armour Master to keep in the game, but I go Trap Stun -> Sorcerer, target Armour Master, he books. I sac for Caius and swing in for game. Hella chill guy. We played the match more casual than anything. 6-0 So I was kinda getting cocky at this point since everyone else wasn't doing so hot, but I was like fuck it. I wanted to win. Round 7 [Table 1] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs Enoch (Machina Gadgets) I knew Enoch. Meh. Game 1 I clutch it out. He has Fortress, Yellow, 3 Backrow. He attacks, flips Limiter over my Alchemist. Swings with Yellow, I show Fader. He Warnings. He flips Call of the Haunted on Red and asks "Game?" I say no. He swings, I drop Fader #2. He Contacts for Chimeratech and passes. Cold Wave -> Black Rose -> Dark Armed wins games. Game 2 He pulls it out. My hand is so trash I have to Cold Wave to Guarantee a Gorz. I still lose out. Game 3 My hand is so bad. I stop FOUR Gadgets before drawing a Monster, and by then I don't have enough life to stabilize. 6-1 I'm a little nervous. I'm thinking, "I can go 6-2 and get 9th easily". Standings go up and I'm second. I feel hella better after seeing that and realize I'm guaranteed my invite, which is what I wanted Round 8 [Table 2] Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs ??? (MachinaGadgets) Game 1 Uh...I win. A 4000 Chimeratech is pretty beastily after a Fader. Game 2 He Divine Wraths my Dekoichi mid game, and I don't care. Remove for Sorcerer, swing for 23, pass. He goes into Fortress, swings, does some damage. I draw, Trap Stun -> Black Rose -> Dark Armed + Sorcerer #2 + Reborn. It's pertty good. 7-1 in Swiss. I find I'm top seed when Top 8 is announced. Enoch "lost" in round 8, aka he scooped for like $20 lol. Whatever. I have to play GBs in top 8. Top 8 Bryan (SalvoChaos) vs Michael (Glads) This entire match will be up on www.youtube.com/user/TeamHOC2009. When it goes up, I'm not sure. I'll try to remember to edit in links when it goes up. I end up losing to bad hands in games 2 and 3. And when the videos go up, I'm aware I misplayed Sorcerer in game 1. I was tired and didn't care too much at that point, I had what I wanted. Props Top 8 Salvo being fucking awesome CHOOCHOO FTW Alchemist being a beast Not playing Debris somehow, even though I had a lot of playtime against it. Slops Cold Wave. Fuck that stupid card. Monster Reborn. See Cold Wave. Not getting shit sold :/ Decklist There will be a profile up on www.youtube.com/user/TeamHOC2009 soon. I'll try to remember to edit the link. 23 1 Dark Armed Dragon 1 Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness 2 Caius the Shadow Monarch 2 Cyber Dragon 2 Chaos Sorcerer 3 Dekoichi, the Battlechanted Locomotive 2 Black Salvo 3 Battle Fader 3 Dimensional Alchemist 1 Sangan 1 Card Trooper 1 Spirit Reaper 1 Effect Veiler 9 3 Book of Moon 1 Gold Sarcophagus 1 Pot of Duality 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 1 Allure of Darkness 1 Cold Wave 9 2 Bottomless Trap Hole 2 Solemn Warning 1 Mirror Force 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Solemn Judgment 1 Trap Stun 1 Seven Tools of the Bandit 15 1 Effect Veiler 2 Banisher of the Radiance 2 Thunder King Rai-oh 2 D.D. 4. I've denied/haven't gestured for a handshake once, and it was very recently. I'm NOT going to shakes hands with someone who's a bad player, I have to tell him I see him cheating so he doesn't anymore, brags about sacking me, and then rips the one out to win in game 3 when he didn't deserve the win to begin with. I feel bad looking back, now, and I looked like a douchebag, but whatever. Offer the handshake, win or lose, sack or not, FTK or not. It's just what you do.
  5. SJC - SuperJumpCancel

Both are ass in the deck. Armageddon Knight is better than Grepher in JR.
  6. Runaway

Empty Jar got top 4 at an Idaho Regional this past Saturday. There's feature matches of the deck on multiple youtube channels at the moment. Diver/Giant Rat/Sangan are needed to get Jar, though. You only need one Needle Worm.
  7. SJC - SuperJumpCancel

May have consistency issues. It's been testing decent so far. Planning on playing it in locals on Saturday, and if it performs well in the next month, regionals. 1 Dark Armed Dragon 1 Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness 1 Caius the Shadow Monarch 2 Chaos Sorcerer 3 Cyber Dragon 3 Jinzo 3 Jinzo - Returner 3 Dekoichi, the Battlechanted Locomotive 2 Black Salvo 1 Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind 1 Plaguespreader Zombie 1 Card Trooper 1 Effect Veiler 2 Gold Sarcophagus 2 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Book of Moon 1 Future Fusion 1 Overload Fusion 1 Limiter Removal 1 Allure of Darkness 1 Giant Trunade 1 Foolish Burial 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 3 Royal Decree SIDE 2 Thunder King Rai-Oh 1 Effect Veiler 3 D.D. 8. The Little Engine That Could

I'm aware the deck sucks. However, playing Dekoichi is way too much fun, I enjoy the deck, and it plays extremely well at locals and I will most likely play it at regionals. I want to make the deck as consistant as possible, without something like "Play something else" as a response, nommsayin'? Need to find room for Solemn Warning and possibly Gold Sarcophagus. I don't plan on having Pots anytime soon, so I just won't bother. 1 Dark Armed Dragon 1 Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness 2 Caius the Shadow Monarch 2 Chaos Sorcerer 3 Cyber Dragon 2 Dimensional Alchemist 2 Thunder King Rai-Oh 3 Dekoichi, the Battlechanted Locomotive 2 Black Salvo 2 Battle Fader 1 Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind 1 D.D. 9. Another Salvo list.

its a dark bro The fuck, I swear I read it as a Wind. That's my bad :|
  10. Another Salvo list.

The problem with Vice is it's a) Not a Light or Dark, which matters and b) Room is far too tight as is. I dunno, it's a thought, but meh.
  11. Black Sheep

Edit: I'm blind, ignore me. Thought there was a lack of Sorcerer at first.
  12. Another Salvo list.
