Don't worry about that, it was a UI bug on my part (no functional impact). I just put a fix. - BLS

A bunch of accounts on your IP were spamming some very disgusting pictures in the public chat. Definitely warrants an IP ban. The IP address doesn't seem to be a proxy, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt and remove the ban on just your account. I would recommend against using that proxy again. - BLS

Did he end up leaving? If he didn't, that's a malicious AFK and warrants a ban. - BLS

I am in the process of adding them right now... you will see them slowly start to appear on DN. - BLS

Check your hosts file. Delete any entries related to DN. - BLS

I never claimed it was impossible to DDOS DN anymore. It should simply be harder for the typical attacker. I was forced to put the security in because the constant attacks forced me to put a fix in place for at least the particular attack we were facing, but also others.     That is true. Security hasn't really been an issue on DN. It is simply a matter of resistance to attackers who try to spam us with illegitimate traffic to prevent us from serving legitimate traffic. - BLS

Go ahead and set up an event if you want - might be fun. I just don't want you giving off the impression of begging or extreme poverty that guilts people out of their money. I want it to be a purely free choice.         If clearing your cache and flushing your DNS doesn't work, perhaps the DNS server you are using is caching it on that end. As suggested before, you can just wait some time. If you are REALLY impatient, look up how to change your DNS address to Google's DNS addresses.   - BLS

Thanks for the support. But I don't want people to feel pressured to donate. If you wouldn't normally donate, don't go out of your way. As always, I want it to always be as optional as "optional" can get.     Excuse me? Just go to www.duelingnetwork.com. Make sure you include the www. Also, clear your cache if you haven't. If that doesn't work, clear your DNS cache too.     Let me explain what I did. I added DDOS protection on www.duelingnetwork.com and made duelingnetwork.com point to nowhere. And yes, obviously I did shell out money for DDOS protection.   - BLS   Edit: Note that it is limited DDOS protection. I make no guarantees the attacker won't alter his attack pattern and try some other tactics. I can make a post about donating for the cause on facebook if you feel you guys need it for all that trouble. Maybe you could do a special 1$ would be 5 days instead of 3 for now till next month or so.   No, please don't. I don't like doing things like that. Anyone who really wants to donate can find the donate button on their own.   - BLS

Fixed. So I got my account unbanned, but I lost all rating and 3k+ rep points so it doesnt change a thing and now i have to play with people who think that Gagaga Magician is staple at 3, MST negates card effects and quick spells have spell speed 3 and can be chained to counter traps. Oh, and i can't even play with people i know in rated.     OK, THX! No need to whine about it on a public forum. You could have just told me I forgot to restore your experience points when I restored your wins, losses, etc.   Anyway, I fixed your experience points. Next time, try simply asking me before posting sarcastic complaints on forums.   - BLS

I put out a fix to that duel pool issue which occasionally caused repeated pairings in a row, which sometimes triggered our boosting detection system.   If it continues to be a problem, please tell me.   - BLS

Legitimate suggestion and definitely something I will need to look into. The system is very new and has some kinks to work out. That isn't a reasonable thing to do. The "Ready" button serves to mark the start of the game. The moment you click "Ready" you know you are potentially putting your rating on the line. If we didn't have that intermediate step, AFK players who walked off during paring time would become a serious issue. - BLS

By research, do you mean polls? Public polls aren't exactly good drivers of policy. For example, if we made a poll asking if we should add cards on DN as soon as they are previewed in Japanese magazines, I bet a majority of people would say, "Yes, more cards and quicker!" But that is the wrong course of action to take and it is something we have been heading away from. If by research you mean discussing it with knowledgeable players, then yes I have done that. I have discussed the plans with a number of DNers as well as people who play other online games to develop the pairing mechanism. Hell, I even had a brief beta test which received positive response. What we have been seeing now is the backlash of ignorant, abrasive, outspoken users like yourself. People who have no qualms about displaying incredible rudeness, and being as loud as possible about it. It is impossible to please everyone, and drastic changes will always provoke such a response from some subset of users - even if it really is change for the better. And about your condescending remarks comparing me to Kevin Tewart... I was tired from several nights of little sleep working on the update, which I wanted to get done before March 1st. And after all the effort I put in, the backlash from that vocal minority just depressed me a little. I was just venting a little - I am only human. If it came off as a public announcement, I am sorry - I did not intend it as that. I am a member of this forum, isn't there room for me to express my feelings here sometimes? I thought maybe folks here would be more understanding and have more respect for the efforts I have made to improve DN despite my busy life outside DN, as opposed to being so quick to thrash at me like you did. And your condescension continues. You even mock the duel pool by implying it isn't even worthy of being called a "feature." And you make bold, poorly-supported assertions, such as when you claim it "causes way more problems than it solves." In order to legitimately support that point, you would need to actually fairly state the pros and cons and actually compare them. You, however, mention a load of "cons" without mentioning almost any of the the pros, such as: - faster pairing with people around your skill level - tournament-like play (i.e. you don't choose your opponents in a tournament, they are paired for you) - halting boosting (soft and hard), which has been common source of cheating and unfair competition - reduces language issues, as we have quite a few Spanish players On top of this, you reveal your ignorance of DN's rating system. You call it "complete garbage" and say that our forum users have "abandoned it" for an Elo-based system. First off, DN's system IS Elo-based. Second, I think you are referring to the teams/wars system in our forum - which is for, well, teams and wars. It serves a different purpose than DN's rating. And, by the way, the 2 rating systems are very similar under the hood. If anything, DN's system is more finely tuned. I agree the pool system isn't perfect. As you pointed out, it is an issue that it is now harder to get admin attention when dueling with friends. That is a legitimate point, but the pool system is a significant step in the right direction for DN. Except DN isn't fully localized. You joke about it like it is an obvious mistake on DN's part to not translate the word "Spanish." The fact is, Spanish players still need to know enough English to read their cards. Ideally the system would be fully localized for users of all languages, but what we have now at least reduces the language issues we have had in the past. At the moment, DN caters to English-speakers primarily. Spanish players who use DN still would have to at least understand a minimum level of English and would thus understand what "Spanish" means. Many English DNers, on the other hand, would have no idea what "Español" means. - BLS
