1. We usually wait for a series to premier before making a thread about it but I thought I'll give this one special treatment considering that it's the first series from the new animation studio Trigger which is comprised of ex-Gainax staff specifically the guys responsible for Dead Leaves,Gurren Lagann, and Panty and Stocking.         -Director: Hiroyuki Imaishi (Dead Leaves, Gurren-Lagann, Panty & Stocking) -Series Composition/Script: Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren-Lagann, Oh! Edo Rocket, Kamen Rider Fourze) -Character Designer: Sushio (One Piece Movie 6, Kittan-Zero) -Animation Production: Trigger (INFERNO COP, Little Witch Academia)     Plot -"High-school girls and ruthless sword-fighting action! In an academy ruled by power, a transfer student wielding a sword that looks like half-scissors brings about upheaval." -The academy is located in a post-apocalyptic setting inspired by the industral revolution of the Meiji Era and the Tower of Babel -The setting has uniforms that match an individual's talents/skills and give them special powers in accordance to their personalities. The main characters are Ryuuko, the mysterious transfer student, and Satsuki, the Student Council President. Satsuki is trying to rule the Academy with the power of her uniform but Ryuuko resists this control. The show will be a character drama centered around both of them and the story will develop through their clashing. -Confirmed 2 cour; roughly 24-26 episodes   PV   http://youtu.be/6FQU_eovRCU   I'm hyped.
2. Valvrave the Liberator

Possible anime of the season. gets better after the predictable eva clone of a first episode
3. Psycho-pass

Some shit yall niggas might like Premise
In a future with the technology to scan and analyze the psychology and personality of a person in an instant, the worth of one's soul is measured and recorded as a systemetic set of values - that is a person's 'Psycho-Pass'. To protect and uphold the illusion of a utopian society, the Ministry of Welfare's Public Safety Bureau employs this system against those who are deemed by the system to have a high criminality coefficient, and locks them away. To fight actual crime that slips through the cracks, those potential criminals found suitable are offered positions as crime Enforcers instead - after all it takes a mind capable of understanding a criminal to catch one. Inspectors are chosen from the elites of society to monitor and lead these Enforcers - the system's leash on these necessary but untrustworthy hounds. This is the story of the men and women of the Criminal Investigation Department, and their pursuit of justice... I think it has potential
4. Ghost in the Shell: Arise

Probably old news to some of you but there is a new ghost in the shell anime project for this year.   The name of it is Ghost in the Shell: Arise and it's a 4 part movie-OVA all 50 minutes each. The first volume is slated for theatrical release this summer then the BRDVD release afterwards.   It's a prequel which follows young Motoko Kusanagi before she joins section 9. You'll see younger version of all the usual suspects.     The Chief director of the project is Kazuchika Kise, veteran animation director at Production IG who worked on the Ghost in the Shell and Blood the Last Vampire projects. Story and script is being written by Tow Ubukata who penned Chevalier, Fafner, Heroic Age, Mardock and Scramble. The musical score is done Cornelius (Keigo Oyamada) who is famous for the highly influential "Fantasma" album.   English press release on Ig's site: http://www.productionig.com/contents/news/2013/01/ghost_in_the_sh_5.html   Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb1c-T-ox-E Opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzJ5yj8roiM     Poster image
5. Aku no Hana

Plot Synopsis         Has anyone started this yet? Got through the first episode and well umm I guess they nailed the atmosphere. The first episode was kinda dry but they got the atmosphere down so I like where this can go.   The rotoscoping is kinda eh though. Some characters like fucking weird and the draw distances and lip synching bother me.
6. Last Exile

Watched this years ago but it was a fragmented experience so I recently watched the entire series on Netflix with a friend. After finishing it I'm thoroughly convinced that's one of the best animes ever created. This is a master piece. Released 9 years ago and the animation and effects hold up to this day; its gorgeous. I love this anime you all should watch it, please. Opening. The theme song is fucking God like. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WtOBWGPfdOo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
7. Hyouka

So this is my favorite new anime of the season. It's pretty much a mystery series but it feels very different from most since the characters aren't finding clues to a murder or something. It's very down to earth and grounded in reality which I like. The characters are also lovable and besides the art and setting it's very "unanime" like. Is anyone else watching it? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JIdIvJCTsIk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
