1. Let me start this off by saying that this is my first top, and to forgive me if my games aren't that detailed as I sometimes forget things. Also the tournament was on March 28 so some things might be fuzzy.    I decided to play this deck almost a month ago out of the blue about the same time the Dark Matter article came out. I tested for about 3 weeks with a changing build, but I decided to change it almost completely the day before I left for Winnipeg. I ended up basing my build upon one of the guys who topped the Virginia regionals the week before after talking with another guy who topped with mythic dark matter at that same regional. This is the build I based it off of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28ujz_eOJ1A   Mine was a few cards different in the main and extra, but I used a vastly different side deck   The list I went with was:   Main(40): Monsters(28): 3x Tefnuit 3x Su 3x Eset 3x Legendary Maju Garzett 2x White Stone Of Legend 2x Blue-Eyes 2x Mythic Water 1x Mythic Tree 1x Labradorite Dragon 1x Flamvell Guard 1x Blaster 1x Tidal 1x Tempest 1x Redox 2x Eclipse Wyvern 1x Red-Eyes Darkness Metal   Spells(12): 3x Mst 3x Trade-In 2x Hieratic Seal Of Convocation 1x Raigeki 1x Snatch Steal 1x Book Of Eclipse 1x Cards Of Consonance   Extra(15): 1x Atum 1x Gaia Charger 1x M7 1x Big Eye 2x Dracossack 1x Heliopolis 1x Felgrand 1x Prime Photon Dragon 1x Tachyon Dragon 2x Dark Matter 1x Black Rose 1x Crimson Blader 1x Scrap Dragon   Side(15): 3x Royal Decree 3x Soul Release 3x Emptiness 3x Puppet Plant 2x Night Beam 1x Book Of Eclipse   A Few notes before the rounds report:   I would never side puppet plant again because its way too cute, and not that good in practice.   Trade-in was amazing and helped filter though the deck.   Ok so finally on to the rounds, it was a 7 round regional with 72 people, smaller than I thought would be there:   Round 1 BA: Opponent from Regina   Game 1: My opponent went summon mathman send scarm, set 2 search tgu pass. On my turn I spaced both his backrow and introduced my opponent to Dark Matter and his dragon friends.   Game 2: Dark law early kinda hinders my plans, but a Tribute summoned blaster and 2 royal decrees helped me until I topped a tefnuit, tributed it for legendary maju garzett and released the dragons.   1-0   Round 2 Qli: Opponent from Regina   Game 1: Su clears backrow and Atum combos water and tree into dark matter for swift otk.   Game 2: I have game with dark matter, rulers and a stolen carrier, but I am stupid and swing into mirror force.   Game 3: He misplays and goes for a stealth summon instead of a disk otk when i have 2 set decrees, and I punish him by otking through stealth and two other pendulumed qlis the next turn at a paltry 700 lp.   2-0   Round 3 Volcanics: Opponent from Swift Current/Regina   Game 1: Traps for days and scattershots keep me from winning this game.   Game 2: Decree helps me enough to the point where I can dark matter otk.   Game 3: My opponent has space for my one decree, but a reoccurring tidal gets me there as my opponent didn't draw well.   3-0   Round 4 Yosenju: Opponent from Winnipeg   Game 1: He has emptiness early and I cannot establish a board.   Game 2: He uses emptiness on my standby, but I night beam his other set and otk him.   Game 3: Its a close game and it gets to the point where I have a scrap dragon or red eyes on board and he needs to top  another yosenju monster to win(he had a kama 1 in hand and I was at less than 3000 lp), but he tops a spell or trap and I attack for game the next turn.   4-0   After this round I was feeling sky high, almost like nothing could take me down.   Round 5 Qli: Person who got second place Game 1: I open with a suboptimal hand, I special tefnuit and summon flamvell guard to make black rose dragon to clear his field with an mst in hand, but he has emptiness and I dont really have anything other than blaster to fight him after the saqlifice search after I black rosed his board so I lost. *Later I realized I could have gone rank 7 and either stole his  monster with big eye or popped it with dracossack.   Game 2: I open up 2 msts but I make an amateur mistake of spacing one backrow right away, and  my bad hand cant keep up with skill drain(it was something like tefnuit, wyvern, blue-eyes,2 space and something else).   4-1   I was feeling a little down but I only had one loss with only two more rounds to go.   Round 6 Nekroz: Person who got first place Game 1: I lose the die roll and pass without making a move, and he djinn locks me, and I draw no outs.   Game 2: I choose to go second, and have puppet plant for the djinn locked clausolus but only can manage to attack over his lavaval chain with a su, and next turn got trished and took a bunch of damage. I had to topdeck a ruler to extend the duel, but I topped mythic tree and conceded.   4-2   I felt so bad at this point, I almost felt like dropping because there were so many x-1s at the time.   Round 7 Volcanics Game 1: It was a grind game between my monsters and his traps, but a timely scattershot killed my monsters, and  next turn he summoned the volcanic who sends the trap to ss himself and blaster for game.   Game 2: Decree and a timely soul release to banish his scattershots and shell in grave as well as my eclipse wyvern allowed me to build up enough advantage to kill him.   Game 3: I rode decree and dark matter all the way to eight place.   5-2   It may seem kinda stupid considering how small the regional was, but I was so excited when I saw my name at 8th place  on the standings list after the last round.   The top 8 ended up consisting of 4 qli, 2 dragons(me and a guy from Calgary running the mythic version), 1 Nekroz(who got 1st place), and 1 Tellar.   I didn't get to get a picture of the standings because my phone died, but one of my friends filmed my deck profile and it should be up this week.   Hope you enjoyed reading my report and rest in pepperonis rulers
  2. Hieratic Rulers still Matter!

Couple of days left before PG2 hits us up for more dollars and id thought id share my build with you guys, see if you can help me tune it into shape Monsters 26: 1x Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 1x Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 1x Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 1x Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 1x Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning 2x Hieratic Seal of the Sun Dragon Overlord 1x Labradorite Dragon 1x Flamvell Guard 3x Legendary Maju Garzett 3x Hieratic Dragon of Su 3x Hieratic Dragon of Eset 3x Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 2x Eclipse Wyvern 2x Dragard 1x Hieratic Dragon of Gebeb Spell 12: 2x Hieratic Seal of Convocation 1x A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon 2x Dragon Shrine 3x Upstart Goblin 2x Mystical Space Typhoon 1x Book of Moon 1x Book of Eclipse Traps 2: 2x Hieratic Seal From the Ashes Extra: 1x Star Eater 1x Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree 1x Trident Dragon 1x Crimson Blader 1x Stardust Dragon 1x Black Rose Dragon 2x Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon 1x Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon 1x Number 107: Galxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon 1x Hieratic Overlord Sun Dragon of Heliopolis 1x Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 1x Number 11: Big Eye 1x Gaia Dragon, The Thunder Charger 1x Hieratic Dragon King of Atum Problems I have with the deck: - Only 1 lvl 6 vanilla, i feel 2 would be too cloggy but drawing into lab at any point is a -1, but it has such good synergy with dragard(who in this deck is so versatile) and going into atum/gaia + bringing out a boss from deck, not sure how to fix this problem outside of removing it from the deck completely, but trident and leo are soo strong - 15 cards for extra deck just isnt enough! Notes - No Redox, Originally i had room for him, but this deck is just so packed i had to pull him out, in other decks like mythics he is a must but idk about him in this one, i constantly found myself opening 2 rulers sometimes, and i wanted to cut that down too -BLS is easy to get out with dragard+Garzett in the deck, and well worth it - Garzett is a free 95 with eset, and with tefnuit with your opponent controlling a monster, he also does piercing, so with 2 dark matters and a red eyes on the field dumping them all for garzett to your opponents lone face down monster is easy game without woring about fire hands or sumoning from deck ect... - tefnuit into dragard is also a dark matter combo - the question still has to be asked... why is convocation still at 2.. - 3 shrines is too much for this deck, especially with dark matters effect - 2 ashes simply because free ruler summons is nice and destroying them with trident is always fun, and if the otk fails it helps set up for the grind game with rulers - Crimson Blader is there simply because he can shut down so many decks, especially the mirror if he can get over your opponents monster - only 2 dark matters because 3 is overkill, 6 banished monsters is enough i think and by the time you have summoned the 2 you should have game, or close enough to not need the 3rd
  3. Mythic Rulers

Im trying to run Mythic Rulers without the blue-eyes draw engine. Any feedback on the current deck without  telling me to put bewd back in would be appreciated    21 MONSTERS 1x Blaster 1x Tidal 1x Tempest 1x Redox 1x Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon  2x Mythical Water Dragon 2x Mythical Tree Dragon 3x Flamvell Guard 1x Debris Dragon 1x Influence Dragon 1x Dragunity Corsesca 1x Glow-Up Bulb 1x Koa'ki Meiru Drago 2x Kuribandit 1x Card Trooper  1x Divine Dragon Apocralyth   12 SPELLS 2x Dragon Shrine 2x Cards of Consonance 1x Sacred Sword of Seven Stars 1x Foolish Burial 1x Book of Moon 1x Burial from a Different Dimension 1x Gold Sarcophagus 1x Snatch Steal 1x Miracle Dig 1x Upstart Goblin   7 TRAPS 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Dimensional Prison 1x Compulsory Evac 2x Dragoncarnation 2x Skill Drain   EXTRA Star Eater Black Rose Dragon Stardust Dragon Stardust Spark Dragon Colossal Fighter Leo, keeper of the sacred tree Crimson Blader Number 107: Photon Eyes Tachyon Dragon Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Killer Number 74: Master of Blades Phantom Beast Plane Drago-sack Queen Dragon Djinn Number 11: Big Eye   Mythical Tree Dragon: Was thinking 3 for the tidal  Rank 7 plays but it got a little cloggy. Your Thoughts? Flamvell Guard: Added a 3rd one for the lack of vanilla  dragons, works well Koa'ki Meiru Drago: For the meta hate, and can side out  if needed Kuribandit: Great @2 so i see it more early game Card Trooper: For the MP1 mill and the Black Rose  plays, could maybe bump up to 2 Divine Dragon Apocralyth: This one needs some explaining as im probably gonna get a lot of hate for it, but i  played a lot of chaos drags and im use to REDMD to be  more then a one trick pony, i felt like i needed the  revive power along with the shrine then to hand with divine that i am missing by not running eclipse wyvern. i feel  divine is better in this deck as i can still use him to  pull out a ruler if i need the in hand effect or the seven  swords draw with the banish search where as eclipse would  be just a banishable dragon if i already have redmd.   Miracle Dig: Works well mid to late game for that refund power Upstart Goblin: only chucked it in last minute as a filler,  open to suggestions for spell, trap or monster replacement. Maybe a 3rd CoC?
  4. Plant Dragon Oct 2014

With the new ban list 3 things strike me for dragons 1. glow up bulb 2. gorz at 2 3. soul charge at 1   The goal of my deck is to keep the same play style, which is to throw out a big monster or threat for my opponent to have to deal with each turn. Let it be a draco, felgrand, or even a stardust and hopefully a backrow, they would have to use resources to get rid of it. Hopefully I will burn enough resources that I can find an opening or grinded them out of enough resources to push for game or big dmg. This is my rough draft of what I have so far. The big questions I have are: 1. should i keep quasar as an option or add more utility xtra deck cards. (DECIDED NOT TO DO QUASAR) 2. What traps should i use, these are only the ones that came across the top of my head. 3. Is there a way to make it more consistent?
  5. Nanana

Nanana Normal Spell Card (1): Target 1 Level 7 or Rank 7 monster; that monster gains 700 ATK and DEF until the end of this turn. Clearly this is the card Dragon Rulers have been waiting for to unleash their reign of terror once more.
  6. Hieratic Rulers Post-DoL

Whats up DGz? I'm looking for some help with my Hieratic Ruler deck for next weekend. We have a $500 cash tourney coming the day after DRLG is legal so I'm pretty sure on Hieratic Dragon Rulers. Keen to hear everyones opinions on best deck Post-DoL also, because I may use something else at the tourney.   Monsters: 18 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 2 Maxx "C" 1 Luster Dragon #2 1 Flamvell Guard 1 Swift Scarecrow 1 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 1 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders 1 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 1 Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls   Spells: 12 3 Soul Charge 3 Upstart Goblin 3 Dragon Shrine 2 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 1 Dark Hole   Traps: 10 3 Hieratic Seal From the Ashes 2 Skill Drain 2 Vanity's Emptiness 2 Trap Stun  1 Torrential Tribute   Side Deck: 15 1 Maxx "C" 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Twister 1 Nobleman of Crossout 3 Mind Crush 2 Mistake 2 Black Horn of Heaven 1 Full House 1 Needle Ceiling   Extra Deck: 15 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 2 Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger 2 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum 1 Constellar Ptolemy M7 1 Photon Strike Bounzer 1 Gauntlet Launcher 1 Black Rose Dragon 1 Stardust Dragon 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Crimson Blader   STARDUST SPARK DRAGON IS NOT LEGAL IN NEW ZEALAND D:   Post-DoL I've opted not to run Kuribandit. Yes the card is insane, but it gets worse the longer the game goes on. I also needed the space. I will stick to using Ashes unless you give me really solid reasoning not to use it.    I'm interested in any feedback you guys have on the deck, how to make it better etc. If you have any side decking advice please let me know.

  8. Brick City

So Oceanics was confirmed (announced) to be on July the 7th last week and i can actually attend it due to semester break so that means i had to play this week's regionals in Perth.   I don't own any cards and with such short notice, no one had a spare fire/water core to lend me or i'd just have played Bodan's fire list or Joshua Schmidt's water list which he told me to play. Unlike New South Wales, you could just borrow cards super easily and the card pool in perth is awfully small and everyone is a Jew, i couldnt even borrow an exciton knight fuarkkk   So, 2 days ago a friend linked me to Loli's report with dragons and told me that Joshua graham was playing dragons. Having not touched YGOTCG much since Hoban won an ARG tourney with mermails, i decided to message Josh and ask him to link me a list. Apparently it was the list Loli used except for some changes.    I tested the list against a friend's water deck 2 nights ago and it was doing pretty well and i thought ok cool i might just pull this off. I changed 2 cards in my side to suit the meta, changed 1 card in the extra and fit in Cardcars in the main.   So, people had dragons so i borrowed bits and pieces everywhere and i didn't expect myself to top so i just entered the regionals with no pressure.    Round 1: karakuris   G1: i have never gone to locals or played it so i have literally no clue what everyone was running. I made a turn 1 Stardust with a bluffed backrow, and he opens the nuts (like DSummons karakuri deck) and just otks me.   G2: I went first and made felgrand and controlled it from there. He didnt have the otk/ combo pieces.   G3: He didnt have the otk and just T-sets, and i destroy him pretty easily with a Maxx C in hand.   1-0   Round 2: Gravekeepers   G1: He sets a lot of backrow, summons a descendant and plays a Necrovalley. I grind it out until I had nothing left and he darkbribes my torrential (???) and otks me.   G2: This was a very long grind game where i opened pretty shit, but i managed to make a first turn Leo which eventually got me there, with felgrand.   G3: We went into time during hisfirst turn, and he dualitys into warning, plays valley, royal tribute and drops my one monster which was the blue eyes egg and it got me the dragon which helped me make trade in live. In the last turn of time, i double MST his necrovalley (1st 1 got negated by dark bribe), flip trap stun, and make scrap dragon to destroy his monster and win the game.   2-0   At this point i knew the deck was so prone to bricking that it will lose to itself sooner or later.   Round 3: Harpys (JCon on dgz )   G1: Possibly the best player i played today, he's an old Australian pro who just started getting back into the game competitively. He drew 3 Hysteric Signs, Hunting Ground and no monsters and i ended up beating down for the win with dragons   G2: He opened Channeler discarding something and I warning-ed. During my end phase he flips Party and discard Sign and just goes all out after he debunks my dragon ruler and torrential-ed my mythic field earlier.   G3: I get the turbo part of the deck going (finally!) and ended up making a Felgrand and Blaster. Earlier on he had used party and discarded sign so finally we would have a good game which wasnt one sided. He makes a chidori to bait out my felgrand which i chained on itself, and he makes big eye steals my blaster and crashes into felgrand. I summon trooper and mill a dragonruler (sack) and made dragosack which destroyed big eye and trooper suicided with chidori. I ended up winning soon after thanks to burial from different dimension.   3-0 wow this is unreal i should be like 0-x with this deck.   Round 4: Hieratics   G1: He opens atum dracosack, and he opens the absolute nuts. I knew hieratics ran out of fuel really quickly, so i pushed and cleared his board. He had a card left in hand and topdecked convocation which ended the game at that point. I had 2 set, and he mst-ed the right card.    G2: The mirror is absolutely terrible, and I sided out at least 9-10 cards which were horrible for the mirror. I gained a quick momentum with a trap and cardcar and he ended up making a field which i had to deal with. I had a hand with quite alot of options and decided that making scrap and then going into felgrand was the right move. I controlled the game with leo after that.   G3: He opened the combo again but i Maxx C and he goes into M7. In my starting hand i drew 2 blue eyes and wanted to stab myself in the neck but i pitched it for a trade in after. I ended up grinding the game pretty close, until we were both low on resources. He had a stardust and a monster on the field, and a set, and 1 in hand. He Maxx C-ed me earlier too. I saw the play where i summoned redox, special summoned Mythic water and tributed summon blue eyes white dragon ! Next turn he tops the hieratic piece he needs and econs my blue eyes :((((((((   3-1 First point where deck loses to itself and bricked. IMO, deck can grind pretty well and almost got me there but my opponent did get really lucky twice.   Round 5: Bujins   G1: This guy was another old player from New zealand whose gotten back into competitive play recently. He won a crush card virus off Chris Gehring in TeleDAD format so i reckoned he must be decent. I made Felgrand and he scoops in 2 turns.   G2: I wasnt sure which variant he was playing so i sided in stuns (which ended up being wrong). earlier today my friend told me Bujins recently started plying decree colosseum. I didnt draw the stuns but he ended up playing decree colosseum yamato and mind crushes my blue eyes which i lose.    G3: He asks me if he should side out colloseum going 2nd and i shrugged my head and I reckoned he kept it in. I drew the nuts this game with resolving at least 3 draw cards and sset up felgrand a druler and a backrow. He scoops it up pretty soon.   4-1 How am I x-1 at this point.   Round 6: Bujins    G1: I was supposed to play some kid with chain burn and i am stolked because chain burn is literally a bye since the deck is so passive and i can easily just make dracosack/ heliopolis/ felgrand easily if i was given a couple of turns but a repairing occured and I had to play another round of degen deck. I open pretty well so i thought with 3 traps in the backrow, a card trooper, and a dragon ruler. He end phase decrees me. (I summoned trooper + druler to play around colloseum and also cz i had skill drain). He then tenkis for Yamato and slams colloseum. I lose because i couldnt clear colosseum/ decree (If i could clear any one of them i'd literally win)   G2: I opened horrible again with Cardcar , 2 blue eyes eggs and a bunch of irrelevant cards. I summon Cardcar and he veilers it (??????), and the game goes into a grind state in his favour. I managed to pull out of it and make felgrand, and it eventually gets me there with a dracosack. I start beating down his on field kagutsuchi and burning off his hares in his grave. He tops honest and msts my skill drain and attack my entire field with honest kagutsuchi   4-2 I was pretty pissed off because he was horrible at the deck and just opened the literal nuts. At one point in G2, he even mind crushed my blaster in hand when i was attempting to summon it whattt. I find out after that he is a pretty shady character and cheats so i was very salty considering i played perfectly the whole day after taking like a long time to think and plan out my moves. I asked him why he would keep Veiler in vs dragons considering all i had was mythic wood or cardcar which was a horrible reason considering i had skill drains as well. He told me he realised it was wrong but didnt regret it.    Round 7 : Harpies   Game 1: I didnt feel like playing anymore but Jcon was still x-1 and wanted to top so he relied on me for his tiebreaks. His opponent was x-0 and was pretty dickish not wanting to scoop to him so both of them could top together. My opponent opened Hunting ground, queen and sign, but you could tell she wasn't very experienced at the game. (like compulsing my redox before i even could even summon a tuner), so i just grind it out and otk her.   Game 2: I open decent but she opened monk sign and make dracosack and set 3 backrow with 3 harpies in hand. I decided it wasnt worth it to play it out because my hand wouldnt be able to grind through all 3 backrow. I scoop it up.   Game 3: She had hunting ground sign and harpie again ohgod but i win because she isn't very good like dd-crowing my blaster when it hit the grave via trooper and I just otk with scrap dragon, mythic water, tempest, and tidal.    Overall score was 5-2. There's nothing to be proud of, and i would not make a tourney report if i missed out on the top cut, but i thought people might be interested in the dragon ruler deck. TBH its grindy and doesnt have enough consistent auto wins compared to the current meta decks. It does have some auto wins like skill drain druler, or if you open felgrand (best opening in the game currently ever), but its not consistent enough. Even if you play perfectly and know intricate details of the deck, i think you will still lose a game to variance, and at least 1 game where the deck will lose to itself. That is pretty horrible. I hope no one picks it up because you'll just get frustrated losing to itself and if you play any mirrors, you'll get really frustrated too. Im really surprised i didnt drop by round2.    I will not release the decklist because hopefully after reading this, no one is interested anymore.  and i really wont encourage anyone to play the deck, also keeping it secret for josh hehe.  - doing pretty well with a tier 2/3 deck - felgrand is the best opening in the game - leo being mvp2 - being able to convince people not to pick up this deck.   Cons: -losing only to unreal circumstances which were out of my control. - had to play a shitty tier 2/3 dek cz no 1 had cards - narrowly missed out on top cut  - wish i played vs fire/water and not floodgate.degen.dek   So, plan to win the next regional with a real deck, until then not gonna touch ygo bye.
  9. Hey DGz. I've decided to post my Hieratic Ruler deck. I have this deck in real life but, I don't use it at large scale tournaments because of consistency. I've also been playing around with this deck on Dueling Network, so far it's been doing pretty decent. Still isn't as good as I'd like it to be, but it has been performing pretty good.    I know this deck isn't the most consistent deck there is but, it does have a good grind game and has OTK abilities. Although OTK'ing isn't always the best option. But as other players of this deck and other Hieratic variants can come to an agreement that this variant can OTK just as good as pure OTK variants. The better part about this deck is the Dragon Rulers, they can dish out extra damage, usually over 2000. So this deck can safely run Upstart Goblin and not have to worry about being behind in life points. But as I said before this deck is not OTK centric, nor should that be your main goal with this deck.    So with the lack of consistency we run multiple drawing cards. The draw power really helps out a lot, but it opens more possibilities to draw dead cards. Things like Reckless Greed, Upstart Goblin, Cardcar D, Magical Planter (Situational and imo bad) are good options. The only real bad thing about this deck is that the inconsistency comes from cards that are needed in the deck, so there is no way to take them out. But a lot of people are running unnecessary cards. Some of those being Call Of The Haunted, Monster Gate, Trap Stun , etcetera. I'll have reasonings and explanations at the end for these cards.   What makes this deck good is pretty much the easy rank 6's the Hieratics give and the infinite ruler fodder Ashes gives. And with that it makes easy access to Dracossack and Big Eye, or any other rank 7 you decide to run. If any, but the only ones you should be running are Dracossack and Big Eye. While also having pretty easy access to level 8 synchros because of Flamvell Guard. Some of the good ones to consider are Stardust Dragon, Scrap Dragon, Crimson Blader, Stardust Spark Dragon, Colossal Fighter, etcetera. Although Colossal Fighter isn't the most optimal option, but it has it's merits. Here's the deck, my single-card explanations will be at the end.   16 Monsters: 1x Blaster, Dragon Ruler Of Infernos 1x Tidal, Dragon Ruler Of Waterfalls 1x Tempest, Dragon Ruler Of Storms 1x Redox, Dragon Ruler Of Boulders 3x Hieratic Dragon Of Tefnuit 3x Hieratic Dragon Of Su 3x Hieratic Dragon Of Eset 1x Labradorite Dragon 1x Flamvell Guard 1x Dragard   13 Spells: 3x Hieratic Seal Of Convocation  3x Upstart Goblin 3x Dragon Shrine 3x A Wingbeat Of Giant Dragon 1x Book Of Moon   11 Traps: 3x Hieratic Seal From The Ashes 3x Reckless Greed 2x Skill Drain 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Solemn Warning   Extra Deck: 1x Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 1x Number 11: Big Eye 2x Hieratic Dragon King Of Atum 2x Gaia Dragon, The Thunder Charger 1x Gauntlet Launcher 1x Constellar Ptolemy M7 1x Photon Strike Bounzer 1x Star Eater 1x Leo, Keeper Of The Sacred Tree 1x Stardust Dragon 1x Stardust Spark Dragon 1x Scrap Dragon 1x Black Rose Dragon   Explanations:   Two normals instead of three:   This deck already has consistency issues. Running more normals raises the chance to draw into them. Which leads to brick hands, one of our many problems. Some people think three normals are needed to OTK. Well they aren't, you can OTK with just two normals it just makes you use up a little but more time. So there isn't really a single reason as to why you should run two normals. As it is two already can brick, three will make that worse no doubt about it.   Wingbeat over Trap Stun:   To be completely honest, Wingbeat is better than trap stun is most all situations. It is really easy to bounce a Hieratic or Dragon Ruler, so the cost is really slim. Since almost all hands you get (Unless they are pure shit) you'll have the right set up for this. Plus it stops hurtful spells unlike trap stun, although most spells that are game changing aren't set. You can also use this card the same turn you draw it, whereas trap stun needs to be set before. So Stun can cause dead draws, so to cut them down I traded it out for Wingbeat.    No Call of The Haunted:   Well my goal with this deck is to drop all of the cards that can cause brick hands, and this is one of them. This card makes certain hands a lot worse. Like, if you brick and then top deck this, you're pretty much screwed. This card isn't the best option to run, although it can be nice to make rank 6/7's or level 8 synchros but in all honesty the deck functions just fine without it, but with it. It only opens a few other possibilities, while making more dead draws. From my testing the deck functions a little bit better with less dead draws just from dropping this. It's not a vast difference but, it did make a difference.   No Monster Gate:   Sure, this can help you get your Hieratic effects off if you don't have another one to summon. But I mean you could end up losing a bunch of cards that would've been better to draw into. It would be even worse if you had to lose around 5-6 useful spells/traps then Cardcar D pops up. Then it would just be a big minus, you'd lose your monster on the field while gaining nothing in return. This can sometimes help but, it is too situational to run.   Labradorite Dragon over Wattaildragon or Luster Dragon #2   I personally like Labradorite Dragon more, mainly because the attack doesn't really matter. Because you be making either rank 6's or synchroing into star eater. We don't use REDMD, so we won't have the need to revive a normal for extra damage. I just like the capabilities this card has with star eater. Plus Star Eater is actually a pretty good card, high attack and a nice effect. I can't really think of why I'd run Wattaildragon or Luster Dragon over this other than they have a decent attack unlike this.   Dragard over Debris Dragon:   To be completely honest, there wasn't many times I would use Debris Dragon. Nor would I actually ever search him with tempest. So I would need to draw him in order to use him, and even at that he was really subpar through testing. So I tried Dragard in his place, I have honestly used Dragard a lot more than Debris. He allows easy access to Leo and it is a pretty nice card. Plus it's made by just one card Dragard, obviously with Labradorite Dragon in grave but, that's pretty easy to do.   If you guys would like further explanations just say. And if you could be sure to tell me which card(s) you'd like me to explain.
  10. Hieratic Rulers

So this is something that I have been working on and testing non-stop ever since someone mentioned hieratic seal from the ashes in another hieratic thread, and after a lot of testing I finally worked out alot of stuff and got to a build that I felt comfortable with            23 Monsters:   1 Flamvell Guard 2 Labrodorite Dragon   3 Eset 3 Su 3 Tefnuit 1 Nebthet   1 Blaster 1 Tempest 1 Redox   1 Dragard 1 Debris Dragon 1 Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon   2 Maxx C 2 Swift Scarecrow     9 Spells:    3 Wingbeat 3 MST 3 Convocation   8 Traps:   3 Reckless Greed 3 Hieratic Seal from the ashes 2 Trap Stun     Extra:   1 Black Rose  1 Blader 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Stardust 1 Star Eater 1 Trident Dragion 1 Constellar Ptomely m7 2 Gaia Charger 2 Atum 1 Dracosack 1 Big Eye 1 Bounzer 1 Catastor             Ok on to some card explanations:     Hieratic seal from the ashes: The theory behind ashes is that with the dragon rulers, you are recycling banish fodder by dumping a hieratic into the grave, and returning banished hieratics to the grave after a dragon summon. Another thing to note: when ashes is sent from the field to the grave, you summon a hieratic from the grave. Using this in tandem with black rose, scrap dragon, and trident dragon can lead to some really crazy stuff. Conveniently enough, this leaves your opponent in a strange spot when dealing with it: if they let you keep the card you can summon rulers all day or they can destroy it and give you a hieratic to combo with.    Flamvell Guard: The tuner simply gives access to most of the synchros in the extra deck.    Guard + su/tefnuit = blackrose or the ocg lightsworn synchro (not mentioned in the decklist because this is the tcg section) Guard + ruler = scrap/blader/stardust Guard + Red Eyes = star eater (if you are going for the otk and cant bounce red eyes vis m7 for some reason, make a second atum to summon this from the deck, and finish with 2 chargers + star eater)         Not playing all 4 colors: opening multiple colors + nebthets or some other stuff like that happened alot more than i wanted. I really wanted to avoid the bricked hands, so I cut it down to 3 colors     Trap Stun: While the grind game is incredibly important, hieratics are known for their OTK. However, trying to OTK through multiple backrow would feel like an uphill battle most of the time and relying on wingbeat felt really awkward in testing. Trap stun worked out rather nicely, since you can just pop their backrow by looping Su from the deck (assuming you have enough combo pieces to accomplish this) or just OTK      Dragard: this card is probably one of the best cards in the deck. By summoning labodorite dragon from the graveyard , you can extend a hieratic combo by making atum off a hieratic + the labadorite, tribute a hieratic, or simply synchro the labordorite and dragard into trident dragion for an easy OTK.                 I'm open to all suggestions and I take them seriously. I am by no means a "good" player so i apologize if the deck appears to be bad, I got hooked on hieratics a couple weeks ago after my last deck (dragunity) got wrecked by the recent dragon's ravine ban and hieratics was the deck that seemed closest to what I played.
  11. Dragon Rulers     Dragon Rulers (Elemental Dragons in the OCG) are dragon-type monsters that are either level 3, 4 (those are the babies) and level 7 (Big Daddies). The deck mainly spammed the Daddies to have big beaters or made Rank 7/Lv8 Synchro plays. With the September 2013 ban list the deck has lost all of the Babies, Monster Reborn, Heavy Storm and Super Rejuvation. Also Gold Sarcophagus was at 3 in this deck but is now 0-1 because we don't have anymore Babies too. I think i'm missing more but i can add on more later if someone else wants to mention it. There are different builds of the deck that uses the Plant Engine, Blue Eyes Engine, Ravines and Dragunitys.     Monsters:
Dragon Rulers: Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos The Dragon with the highest attack. You can use his effect to discard itself and another Fire Monster (Another copy of Blaster, Flamvell Guard, Lonefire Blossom, etc) to destroy a card on the field. Which you can destroy cards like Evilswarm Ophion, Vanity's Emptiness, Mermail Abyssgaios, Constellar Pleiades, etc. This is one of the 2 monsters you can banish that'll not only grab itself but can grab Flamvell Guard which is a dragon-type tuner to help make a Synchro summon. Though with it being the highest attack Dragon Ruler be careful with how many you remove. Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders The Dragon with the lowest attack but with the highest defense. You can use his effect to discard itself and another Earth monster (Another copy of Redox, Maxx "C", Card Trooper, etc) to special summon a monster from your graveyard to your said of the field. This was the deck's 2nd Monster Reborn but since now the card itself is banned it is your only Monster Reborn. You can special summon another Dragon Ruler to make a Rank/Synchro monster then use that same Dragon Ruler's effect to special summon itself to the field too. You can bring back tuners as well to help make Synchro summon plays. With itself being able to be searched if banished you have to be smart with it so you don't lose much resources mid/late game. Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms The Dragon with the in-between stats. You can use his effect to discard itself and another Wind Monster (Another copy of Tempest, Debris Dragon, Dragunity Corsesca, Spore, etc.) to add 1 dragon-type monster from your deck to your hand. It's basically your ROTA for dragons. You can add a Dragon Ruler, Debris Dragon, Flamvell Guard, Dragunity Corsesca, etc. This is one of the 2 monsters you can banish that'll not only grab itself but can grab Debris Dragon or Dragunity Corsesca. Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls The Dragon with the 2nd highest attack and 2nd lowest defense. You can use his effect to discard itself and another Water Monster (Another Copy of Tidal) to send a monster from your deck to the graveyard. It's basically a 2nd Foolish Burial to help get your graveyard going with more Dragon Rulers, Plants, etc. You don't use this effect too often since you have Foolish Burial, Card Trooper, Dragon's Ravine but it's an option if you need it. With itself being able to be searched if banished you have to be smart with it so you don't lose much resources mid/late game. Blue-Eyes Build:
The White Stone of Legend Stone can be used with CoC, Ravine/D.D.R. discard/sent fodder to get its effect to add a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from your deck to your hand. You can use it to tune with one of the dragons to make a Level 8/9 snychro. You can make Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon with this and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. You can also remove this for Dragon Ruler fodder to special summon themselves. Blue-Eyes White Dragon Can be used with Trade-In/Ravine as fodder. Also can be removed with Dragon Ruler's effects. Being it 3000 attack, having this with Azure-Eyes is a pretty stance in the duel seeing as a lot of decks have a hard time getting over high attacking monsters and that Azure-Eyes can protect that Blue-Eyes.
Dragunity Build:
Dragunity Dux Dux puts in work to make Synchros and or Atum to put more monsters on the field. Can be searched via Dragon's Ravine. Dragunity Phalanx The main tuner in the deck to work with Dux and can be searched via Dragon's Ravine. Also can be used with Cards of Consonance. Dragunity Arma Mystletainn This card helps to make Atum if you have Vajrayana on the field. You can also make a level 8 synchro with this card and Phalanx too. Remember that you only get his effect to grab a Dragunity monster in your graveyard if it was Normal/Special summoned from your hand. If this card is in your hand and you have Dux as well with a Phalanx in grave you can summon the Dux then grab Phalanx then synchro into Vajrayana then use its effect to grab Phalanx. Then you can send that Phalanx to the graveyard to special summon this card then grab that same Phalanx. You can do a couple of things like: Overlay both Mystletainn/Vajrayana to XYZ Summon Atum. Use Atum's effect to special summon REDMD. Use REDMD's effect to special summon Mystletainn from the grave then use that with Phalanx to synchro summon a level 8 synchro like Stardust, Blader, Colossal, Scrap Dragon, etc. Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon Really good card to bring out with Atum's effect to spam more monsters and/or to use to bring out Dragon Rulers from the hand or graveyard to help make Rank 7 plays.
Plant Engine:
Lonefire Blossom You'd use Lonefire to get out Dandylion from your deck to the field so it can be used to create tokens and later Debris play. You can bring out Spore too if you have tokens out to make Formula Synchro to draw a card and make more synchro monsters like Armory Arm/Catastor/etc. Lonefire can also be used with Blaster's effect of discarding and banish cost. Remember you can tribute a Dandylion Token for Lonefire's effect too but remember than Effect Veiler/Breakthrough Skill are cards. Dandylion One of the more important cards in the plant engine. The ability to make tokens is really good to synchro summon, keeping Dracossack alive, Enemy Controller tributes and making Debris Dragon really good. You can mill this out through Card Trooper, Foolish Burial and Tidal. You can also special summon this from the deck with Lonefire's effect. If needed this card can be used as cost to use Redox's effect. Spore You can bring out Spore from the deck to the field with Lonefire Blossom and One For One. You can also send it to the grave from the deck with Tidal, Card Trooper and Foolish Burial. Being a level 1 tuner is really good and seeing as you use tokens in the deck you have options in synchro monsters. They all play their part for the deck to help you out. Also you can banish Lonefire Blosson/Dandylion to special summon it from the grave to make another synchro monster if needed. You can also use Spore for Tempest's effects. Debris Dragon One of the dragon tuners of the deck but mostly the "go to" one. You can search it off of either Tempest effects. You can retrieve Dandylion/Card Trooper/Maxx "C"/Effect Veiler/etc with his effect. If you grab Dandylion you can special summon tokens after a synchro summon. If you grab trooper you can use trooper's effect to mill the 3 cards in your deck to fill your grave up more if you need to though it won't gain the extra attack boost. If Debris gets veiler'd you can special summon a Dragon Ruler to make Star Eater so it doesn't go to waste. You can make Black Rose Dragon, Scrap Dragon, Stardust Dragon, Star Eater, Orient Dragon, etc with Debris easily if your effect goes through. This card can also be used with Tempest's effect and be banished by a Dragon Ruler's effect. Card Trooper Trooper gets your graveyard flowing by being able to mill Dragon Rulers and your plants (Spore/Dandylion) to the grave. Also the attack boost is good if you can dig in damage early so mid to late game it won't be much of a hassle to win the game. Also if it gets destroyed you can draw another card so it replaces itself in a way. This card can also be used with Redox's effect.
Other Monsters: Trigon You can dump him with Ravine. Blaster fodder for pop effect and it's a Dragon. Also you can use with Debris Dragon, synchro summon Black Rose Dragon to nuke the field or Ancient Fairy Dragon to pop a/your Ravine then gain 1000 lps then add another copy to your hand. You can then play that Ravine you've added (if you know you're not playing the mirror/etc) and dump to add more Dragons to your grave.  Hand Traps: Maxx "C" Good hand trap to use against your opponent to either stop them from advancing from their play or force them to continue their play while you draw cards for each special summon that occurs. You'll either even out or draw a lot of cards that turn. This card can also be used for Redox's effect. Effect Veiler Another good hand trap in the deck that can help negate an opponent's monster effect or be used as a tuner for a snychro summon. Other Monsters you'll/can use in the deck: Dragunity Corsesca Flamvell Guard Fog King Gorz The Emissary of Darkness Fusilier Dragon, The Dual-Mode Beast Mecha Phantom Beast Tetherwolf
Spells:
Sacred Sword of Seven Stars The draw card for the deck. You have 12 level 7 monsters in the deck to use as a cost for this card. Also when banishing a Dragon Ruler monster it can basically replace itself. You can also use level 7 monsters on the field if needed. Trade-In Use this with your Blue-Eyes White Dragon to draw more into your deck. Dragon Ravine Not really seen in the Plant builds but in the other builds that main Skill Drain and stuff. This card can act as a Foolish Burial and you can also search out Dragunity Corsesca if needed. D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation Since you banish monsters easily wouldn't it be cool if you can bring them back in a way? This card does that. You can discard a card and special summon a banished monster to the field. Basically the Premature Burial of the deck. It's a cool tech and can be very useful. Bringing back Dragon Rulers to make Rank/Snychro plays and also you can bring back tuners if needed. Spells for Dragunity Build:
Cards of Consonance/Upstart Goblin The draw cards for the Dragunity build. Upstart to get your combo cards ready to go and Cards of Consonance to dump those Phalanx/Corcescas for 2 other cards. Terraforming Basically to search for your Ravine.
Other Spells you'll/can use in the deck: Gold Sarcophagus Dark Hole Book of Moon Mystical Space Typhoon Enemy Controller
Traps:
Return From The Different Dimension One of the better traps in the deck. Pay half of your life points to bring back banished monsters to your side of the field. Basically you can go for game/heavy damage with all of your Dragons or help set up Rank/Synchro plays to be in control. - Raigeki Break/Phoenix Wing Wind Blast Really good snipers of the deck to help clear monsters and back row cards. You can run 2-3 copies of either one though people like different outcomes. Taking apart their back rows to leave their monsters vulnerable and or get rid of problem cards like Dracossack, etc. You can discard your Dragon Rulers and dead cards in the hand.   Sixth Sense You call 5, 6. That's it. Draw 5 or 6 or mill 1-4 cards.  Reckless Greed Good in the Dragunity build to help draw into your combo pieces. Mixed people play it but play them as you liked.   Trap Stun Really good card right now against Constellars, Evilswarms, Fire Fists or any other deck that relies a lot on back row cards. It allows you to get around Anti-Dragon cards like Iron Imperial Wall, Vanity's Emptiness, Gozen Match, Soul Drain, Dimensional Fissure, etc and also cards that disrupt your summons like Bottomless Trap Hole, Torrential Tribute, etc.  Vanity’s Emptiness Good card against not only the mirror match but against other decks that rely on special summoning. Other Traps you'll/can use in the deck: Torrential Tribute Castle of Dragon Souls Call of the Haunted Skill Drain
Side:
Mystical Refpanel You can use this in the mirror to draw for Swords/CoC/Trade-In/etc instead of your opponent. XYZ Encore Good card to use against Evilswarms, Fire Fists, etc. They can't chain Pandemic/Lance to protect it. Also good against the Master Key Beetle XYZ monster as well.  Debunk Good card to negate an Effect Veiler, Maxx "C", Honest, Kalut, Dragon Ruler/Mermail/High Priestest summon effects too.  Other cards you'll/can use in the side deck: Swift Scarecrow Mystical Space Typhoon Vanity's Emptiness Dust Tornado DNA Surgery Electric Virus Deck Devastation Virus Malevolent Catastrophe Skill Drain A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon Dark Hole Eradicator Epidemic Virus D.D. Crow Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter Needle Ceiling Royal Decree Mind Crush Divine Wrath
Extra:
XYZs: Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack This card is still damn important in the deck to make and with all the tokens flying around you can easily protect it if they get destroyed or gets veiler'd on effect activation. Draco's effect to pop a card on the field can be really useful to get rid of back row, monsters on the field or to make room on your side of the field. Can be banished for Tempest's effect. -> Hieratic Dragon King of Atum/Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger Atum can be brought out with Vajrayana + Mystletainn. You can make more plays with the card by making another snychro monster bringing out REDMD then special summoning a dragon to tune with a Phalanx or whatever. You can leave Atum on the field for the next turn to bring out another monster or you can overlay Gaia Dragon to deal some damage/go for game.    Constellar Ptolemy M7 Cool card to help out clear a problem card or to return a card from the graveyard to the hand. You can return a Dux (Summon it again to make synchros/atum), Mystletainn (have a phalanx on the field and you can bring it on the field again. Bring back Phalanx then make Stardust/Colossal/etc), Blaster (Use 2 blasters to destroy something), REDMD (basnish a dragon to SS it then SS another to make a big push), Redox (Use 2 Redox to use its Monster Reborn effect), etc to make some plays. Hieratic Sun Dragon Overload of Heliopolis You'd only make this to get rid of extra monsters on the field or to basically make room on your field to do more damage/better field set-up. You can use your Blue-Eyes White Dragons and/or Level 8 snychro monsters. Synchros: Armory Arm One of the best synchro monsters in the game. You can make this and attach it to one of your monsters to run over other monsters and inflict damage to your opponent. You also still have the Armory Arm OTK if the timing is right. Basically what you would do is make this with tokens and attach it to a monster that has over 1900+ attack points. You'd then spam your field with Dragon Ruler monsters/XYZ/synchro monsters. Then you'd crash them all into that monster equip'd with Armory Arm. You would only take like 100-500 life points at most with each monster but with Armory Arm's effect you would inflict those monsters attack points to their life points. Example:
Opp: Random monster with 1900 attack eq'd with Armory Arm making it 2900 attack You: Tidal Blaster Gaia Charger If your opponent has 8000 life points and you have over 1100 life points left: Tidal crashes into 2900 attack monster You: 8000-300=7700 Opp: 8000-2600=5400 Gaia Charger crashes into 2900 attack monster You: 7700-300=7400 Opp: 5400-2600=2800 Blaster crashes into 2900 attack monster You: 7400-100=7300 Opp: 2800-2800=0 That would be game. Though remember they can Effect Veiler your Armory Arm when trying to use it's attach effect. Also only do this if there isn't a threat of back row or your opponent has too much life points.
Black Rose Dragon You go to synchro to fuck shit up on the field. This card has 2 good effects. The 1st obviously being that you can destroy the whole field. The 2nd also comes in handy when wanting to inflict more damage to your opponent by switching like a token from defense mode to attack mode or any other monster that's in defense. You have at least 3 plants in grave for cost. It's also level 7 so you can use Black Rose for Rank 7 plays with your Dragon Rulers or use it for another synchro summon. This card can be banished by a Dragon Ruler's effect.   Ancient Fairy Dragon Another level 7 Dragon synchro which can help you get your graveyard going by popping Ravines/other Field Spells and letting you add one from your deck to your hand. Also having a beefy 3000 defense can come in handy if your opponent Maxx "C"s your Debris Dragon summon.  Dragunity Knight – Vajrayana This is mostly you go to level 6 synchro to either go into a Rank 6 with Mystletainn or level 8 synchro with Phalanx. He also has a 2nd effect where you can send that Phalanx to the grave while it was equipped to it to double the card's attack making it 3800 if you need to go for game or get over a monster until the End Phase.  Stardust Dragon Stardust is being used more in the Dragunity builds to help push through Mirror Force and protect from Dark Hole/Black Rose Dragon and other cards. Dragunity Knight – Gae Dearg If you're under Maxx "C" and don't want your opponent to draw more cards you can make this and search another Dux then dump a Dragon Ruler to the grave so you have another play for the next turn. You won't see this guy a lot in your duels but the thought of having him in that situation can help. Crimson Blader Even though this deck got hit by the ban list this card is still very useful against the mirror, Mermails, Chaos Dragons, etc. This card can be banished for Blaster's effect. Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon This big dragon can keep reviving your Blue-Eyes White Dragons on your standby phases. When it is special summoned the monsters that were on the field when this resolves are protected by it from being targeted/destroyed by card effects until the end of the next turn which can come in handy if you wanted to evade Mirror Force/Dark Hole/etc. Star Eater The very biggest monster in this deck. 3200 attack is pretty huge and its effect to be unaffected by cards like Mirror Force, Dimensional Prison, Ryko, etc is very useful. Did i mention that it's summon can't be negated or be chained to by other card effects? This card can be banished by a Dragon Ruler's effect. You can bring this out by: Debris + Dragon Ruler/Level 7 monster Debris + Trooper/Lonefire/Dandylion/Clausolas + 1 MPB Token + 1 Level 1 Token Debris + Orient Dragon + 1 Level 1 Token Debris + Catastor + 2 Level 1 Tokens Debris + Clausolas + 1 MPB Token + 1 Level Token Corsesca/Guard/Veiler/Spore + Dragon Ruler/Level 7 Monster + 3 Level 1 Tokens Corsesca/Guard/Veiler/Spore + Dragon Ruler/Level 7 Monster + 1 MPB Token Corsesca/Guard/Veiler/Spore + Orient Dragon + 1 MPB Token + 1 Level 1 Token Corsesca/Guard/Veiler/Spore + Orient Dragon + Armory Arm Corsesca/Guard/Veiler/Spore + Catastor + 1 MPB/Card Trooper/Lonefire Blossom/Dandylion/Clausolas + 2 Level 1 Tokens Corsesca/Guard/Veiler/Spore + Catastor + Armory Arm + 1 Level 1 Token Corsesca/Guard/Veiler/Spore + Level 8 Synchro + 2 Level 1 Tokens Other Monsters you'll/can use in the Extra Deck: Red Dragon Archfiend Scrap Dragon Colossal Fighter Thought Ruler Archfiend Ally of Justice Catastor Number 74: Master of Blades Mist Bird Clausolas Orient Dragon Number 11: Big Eye Formula Synchron HTS Psyhemuth
-------------- Deck Examples: UPDATE 10.11.2013
YCS San Mateo   1st Place  Merlin Schumacher (Dragon Ruler)   Monsters (25) 3 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 3 Tidal,  Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 3 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 3 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders 3 Maxx "C" 2 Dragunity Corsesca 2 Swift Scarecrow 1 Flamvell Guard 2 Debris Dragon 2 Card Trooper 1 Fog King   Spells (9) 3 Sacred Sword of Seven Stars 3 Cards of Consonance 3 Dragon Ravine   Traps (7) 2 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast 2 Castle of Dragon Souls 1 Return from the Different Dimension 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Mirror Force   Side Deck (15) 1 Snipe Hunter 1 Electric Virus 2 Xyz Encore 2 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Trap Stun 2 Debunk 2 Mystical Refpanel 3 Skill Drain   Extra Deck (15) 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 1 Number 11: Big Eye 1 Mermail Abyssgaios 1 Thought Ruler Archfiend 1 Angel of Zera 1 Ancient Fairy Dragon 1 Black Rose Dragon 1 Stardust Dragon 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Crimson Blader 1 Orient Dragon 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Armory Arm 1 Star Eater   3rd place Billy Brake (Dragon Ruler)   Monsters (22) 3 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 3 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Lightning 3 Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 3 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders 3 Maxx “C” 2 Dragunity Corseca 2 Debris Dragon 1 Swift Scarecrow 1 Flamvell Guard 1 Trigon   Spells (12) 1 Cards of Consonance 2 Terrafrorming 3 Dragon Ravine 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Sacred Sword of Seven Stars   Traps (6) 3 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast 2 Vanity’s Emptiness 1 Return From The Different Dimension   Side Deck (15) 2 Debunk 3 DNA Surgery 2 D.D Crow 2 Mind Crush 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Deck Devastation Virus 1 Dust Tornado 3 XYZ Encore   Extra Deck (15) 2 Number 11 Big Eye 3 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 1 Armory Arm 1 Black Rose Dragon 2 Ancient Fairy Dragon 1 Stardust Dragon 1 Thought Archifiend 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Crimson Blader 1 Star Eater   Top 8 Chris Welch (Dragunity Ruler)   Monsters (17) 3 Dragunity Dux 2 Dragunity Phalanx 1 Dragunity Arma Mystletainn 1 Garuda the Wind Spirit 1 Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite 1 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 3 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 3 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 2 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders   Spells (16) 2 Upstart Goblin 2 Cards of Consonance 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Sacred Sword of Seven Stars 3 Dragon Ravine 3 Terraforming 1 Book of Moon 1 Gold Sarcophagus   Traps (7) 2 Mirror Force 2 Vanity’s Emptiness 1 Return From the Different Dimension 1 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast 1 Compulsory Evacuation Device   Side Deck (15) 3 Imperial Iron Wall 2 Deck Devastation Virus 2 Mystical Refpanel 1 Infestation Terminus 1 D.D. Doesn't come up often, but I just prefer Brandistock over Corsesca.   1 Assault Mode Activate, 1 Stardust Assault Mode - I stand firmly behind this choice. Far less dead hands this way. I still get it off consistently, but if I happen to draw the Stardust Assault Mode then I just play Dragunity Rulers. I can pitch SDAM with a lot of different cards or just banish it straight out of the hand to summon a dragon. Adding more SDAM or Assault Mode Activates is just straight up win more. Sure you might have a few games where you summon double SDAM, but at the cost of many more games where you draw multiple SDAM in your opening hand. It isn't worth it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IsFnbMbZe8   So I've been really messing with the Rank 8 build, and while I'm pretty undecided yet, I'm gonna be working on it a bit more for the Circuit in Mass.   12 Colours 1 Guard 2 Corsesca 1 Mythic Tree 1 Mythic Water 3 Maxx "C" 2 Debris 1 Scarecrow 1 Trigon   3 Ravine 3 MST 3 Sword 1 Gold Sarcophagus   2 Phoenix Wing 2 Vanity's Emptiness 1 Return 1 Sixth Sense   As for side, it's all up in the air.  I'm definitely playing stuff like Encore, Decree and whatnot, but there's 6 uncertain spots in there currently.   I'm playing Trigon in the deck still because while Kidmodo was a nice idea, I'd like to give myself as many options to Blaster vs. Swarms as possible, and a vast majority of the time in testing the Kidmodo was in a hand where I had no summonable Dragons, or it wasn't beneficial to use the effect.   The Gold Sarcophagus is to help you not burn resources to get to your Tree/Water, or helps you dig for the Return/Sense.   I'm almost considering dropping Crow for a Fader, only because Felgrand pushing through it is a huge hindrance.   It's like 3 AM when I'm typing this all up so if there's anything I might have missed or if you want a more in depth response as to why I'm playing what, just ask.

  17. Dragon Rulers are a crime against humanity deck introduced to the TCG in Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy. The deck revolves around the Four Dragon Rulers and their demon spawn children, using them for access to easy Rank 7 Monsters and various other plays. The deck has been a dominant force since it's release in the OCG and looks to do the same here.     [MONSTERS]   Since all the Dragon Rulers basically have the same effect excluding their 1 Specific one, those will be the only effects mentioned under the cards.    But here is a quick summary of things you should know about the Big Four: - Their Summons are effects, not inherent summon. - You can only use ONE of these effects a turn, not one of each effect. - Pay attention to both the above with playing with/against this deck as it is incredibly easy to cheat with this deck if you don't pay attention.        Redox's Special effect is a Monster Reborn if you have another Earth in hand, setting up more plays while loading your grave with Redox and another Earth for plays next turn.       Tidal's effect lets you discard another water monster with it to send any monster in your Deck to the Graveyard. This is a very handy effect that gives you the potential to run certain cards you want in the Graveyard immediately, and at the very least lets you dump a different Elemental Dragon into your Graveyard.       Blaster's effect lets you discard Blaster and 1 other Fire Monster to destroy any card on the field. This is incredibly useful as it is one of the deck's natural outs to things such as Evilswarm Ophion, and lets you clear problem cards before proceeding with your plays.       Tempest lets you discard it and another Wind monster to search out any Dragon from your Deck, a very useful effect if your hand really wants a specific Dragonn monster that you otherwise be unable to search out.       Lets you bring out Redox, and also has a nice beefy 1800 body to go along with it.       Lets you bring out Tidal, also comes with 1600 ATK and a nice 2000 DEF if you need to set it and buy yourself a turn or two.       Lets you bring out Blaster, comes along with a Level 3 body and 1000 ATK. Also a target for Rekindling!       Lets you bring out Tempest, and has very relevant stats that make him a target for Debris Dragon! (And no, we aren't sure who decided that was necessary either.)     Outside of the previously mentioned Monsters, the rest of your Monster lineup will be filled out by tech monsters you decide to run.    List of potential Monsters: Debris Dragon Dragunity Corseca Droll and Lock Bird Eclipse Wyvern Effect Veiler Exploder Dragon Flamvell Guard Light and Darkness Dragon Maxx "C" Montage Dragon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon Swift Scarecrow   These Monster choices will make or break your build and will be what separate your build from the field so choose carefully!   -----   [SPELLS]       A very simple but incredibly effective card in this deck. Banish a Dragon Lord, search for the effect then claim your Dragon Lord in 2 turns!       Your deck discards naturally quite a bit and can pump out easy Tribute fodder. That makes this card insane in here, and the reason it will probably end up on the next ban list. Not much else to say here, just remember if you play one copy and draw another in the End Phase you can use that copy as well since the card is a Quick-Play!       A nice themed draw card that triggers your banished searches. Since you can only use 1 per turn it is probably not worth maxing but the card is extremely good nevertheless.   Outside of the above cards and things like Heavy Storm and Monster Reborn, you probably won't have room for much else. Just test out different cards and see what you like alongside the Staples and go from there.   -----   [TRAPS]   Outside of whatever Traps you decide to run, there are no real Traps considered Staple in this deck at this point. Some builds even choose to run none at all. Tech cards like Breakthrough Skill, Torrential Tribute, and etc are worthy of consideration however.   -----   [EXTRA DECK]     A very important card that lets you break down their Defenses before going in for the kill, and offers some protection to a deck that doesn't have a lot of room to run much otherwise.       A very important card that the deck can summon at will. Also an Eradicator Virus target in Sided games. Just be careful not to leave this card sitting on the field if you can avoid it against other decks that can also easily make it, as it will be a prime target for their Big Eye.     The rest of your Extra Deck will probably build itself based on your Main/Side. If you choose to run Level 1 tuners, you will want a couple of Level 8 Synchros. Debris Dragon also requires a few Synchros as well. Just mix and match based on what you feel you need and you should be fine.   Potential Extra Deck Monsters: Ancient Fairy Dragon Black Rose Dragon Colossal Fighter Crimson Blader Exploder Dragionwing Gaia Dragon, The Thunder Charger Mermail Abyssgaios Rank 3/4 outs to Ophion Red Dragon Archfiend Scrap Dragon Stardust Dragon Thought Ruler Archfiend
  18. Top 16 NAWCQ Report

So I've wanted to visit Chicago for a long time since the Bulls are my favorite team and this past weekend I finally got the chance. We left Wed night to head up there, stayed about 30 mins away from Chicago, about a 12 1/2 hour drive. We leave day 0 early to get Giordano's and it's amazing.    Now to the good stuff.   Day 1   Rd 1 - Evilswarm This match is kind of a blur. I mostly remember g3. He opens Ophion 3 set. I go heavy, he judgments. I double mst then Electric Virus his Ophion, reborn his Castor and otk. Not the prettiest win but I'll take the 1-0 start   1-0   Rd 2 - Evilswarm This guy wasn't too good. He actually beat my friend the previous round. Like maining divine wrath and evilswarm katos lol. Easy win.   2-0   Rd 3 - Spellbooks He played weird things like d-prison and never resloved judgment but I still lost due to almost unplayable hands.    2-1   Rd 4 - Evilswarm This guy is playing on a Digvorzhak mat, tells me he won it at a west coast YCS (I don't remember which one) getting top 8 with Machina Gadgets. He opens g1 with ophion deck lockdown and eev set. Deck lockdown slows down my hand a lot so I just slow roll until I can otk. G2 he opens way to strong and I have no chance. G3 I open skill drain and fusilier so it was wrapped up soon.   3-1   Rd 5 - Dragon Rulers I was so excited for the mirror because it was what I was most prepared for. G1 I burn through all his veilers and end up Blader locking him. G2 he gets me through alot of my deck but he has the otk. G3 I pitch stream and blaster for tidal and time is called. I summon a tidal from my hand and make gaios, set deck dev and pass. He goes big eye, I negate. He goes another big eye, take my gaios and swing. My turn I go big eye, activate targeting my his big eye, he uses gaios and I chain deck dev. His face was priceless. Pitch veiler psi-blocker and scarecrow out of his hand. Take his other big eye, then take gaios and otk.   4-1   Rd 6 - Darkworld He tells me he hasn't played against "real decks" all day. It was a pretty easy win but the guy was nice.   5-1   Rd 7 - Mahjid Khan Spellbooks G1 he opens super nutty and I have no hope of winning. G2 I turn one EEV him and he scoops.   G3 is where it gets crazy. He opens decent and over a few turns is able to amass a field of double starhall, mind drain, tower, and 2 set unknowns to my 2 set EEV's and 5 dragons in hand. I topdeck fusilier and set it. EP he goes wing blast, I chain EEV calling spells getting rid of most of his hand and seeing gagagashield set. On his turn he draws warning and can't do much so he swings for minor damage sets warning and passes. I draw into my other fusilier! I set it, EEV calling traps, tempest search blaster, blaster pop jowgen, and do lots of nutty stuff. Game was crazy felt really good to win.   6-1   Rd 8 - Dragon Rulers (Top 32) Super nice guy but obviously a little nervous. Makes a few big misplays and I'm able to win.   7-1 after day 1, 46th place.   Get home and sleep a tiny bit before waking up for day 2.   Rd 9 - Garrett Byrd Evilswarm (Top 64) Really nice guy, I don't remember too much about it but side deck cards put in mad work.   8-1   Rd 10 - Brandon Dixon Dragon Rulers (Top 32) I know him from regionals and stuff and had seen him playing earlier so I knew he was playing dragons. There was a point in g3 where I thought I had it. He was at 1 in hand and I had burned through his set chalice. I go for the safe blader play instead of the otk and sadly it's veiler so he wins.   8-2   I always seem to find a way to lose on the bubble so I was a bit nervous.   Rd 11 - Joseph Chou Spellbooks I go first, go 2 draco 3 tokens with a veiler in hand and he scoops. I side like almost identical things for spellbooks and evilswarm so I decided to go with spellbooks. Win. I remember big eyeing 2 seperate kycoo lol.   9-2 yay first nats top.    Top 64 Dragon Rulers He gets a g1 game loss (he was missing a blaster from his deck :/ oh well) and g2 I just blader lock early.   Top 32 Aaron Furman Dragon Rulers G1 I win, G2 I get decked out because he left in card d and I was under maxx "c". G3 I resolve deck dev t1 and kinda lock him out a big before otking.   Top 16 Steve Silverman Dragon Rulers Game one he plays his hand absolutely perfectly and otks, then game 2 I put myself in a good position with a set emptiness and a good field and he has heavy dark hole followed by an otk.   So I get alot of really cool stuff and more importantly my nats top.   Props: - My brother/best friend Bryson for being awesome - "You git it" - Garon topping - My friends and teammates Bryson, Andrew, and Jason watching me and having my back all weekend - Keller being hilarious - You've got the touch - Sockboy - Gio's pizza - Topping - Getting pics in front of the Jordan statue - Our hotel  - "Hold it pimp"/other Patrick things - The Vault   Slops: - Tolls and traffic - Getting a flat on the way home   Decklist   Main Deck: Monsters (27) 3 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 3 Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 3 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 3 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders 2 Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks 2 Stream, Dragon Ruler of Droplets 2 Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts 2 Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles 3 Maxx "C" 3 Effect Veiler 1 Flamvell Guard Spells (13) 3 Super Rejuvenation 3 Sacred Sword of Seven Stars 2 Gold Sarcophagus 1 Card Destruction 1 Dark Hole 1 Heavy Storm 1 Monster Reborn 1 Book of Moon   Extra Deck: 3 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 2 Number 11: Big Eye 1 Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger 1 Mermail Abyssgaios 1 Armory Arm 1 Ancient Sacred Wyvern 1 Black Rose Dragon 1 Karakuri Shogun MDL 00 "Burei" 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Scrap Dragon 2 Crimson Blader   Side Deck: 2 Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast 2 Electric Virus 2 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 2 Skill Drain 2 Vanity's Emptiness 2 Deck Devastation Virus   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7EkGXyixRg
  19. NAWCQ 2013 Report

Well, here’s a report from a relatively unknown. I figured I might as well start contributing, now that I’m actually trying to get good at this game.   I will start by saying that I haven’t played in too many irl events, this one being my second and the MD regionals in June being first.   Pre-tourney: Sadly, I had just gotten back to work from a 2 week vacation on Monday, so I was out of leave and had to work on Friday and miss out on most of the playtesting and trades. Since work is usually slow on Fridays, anyway, I spent most of the day trying to finalize some card choices. But, I did get to work an hour early and managed to leave for the airport around 4 to catch my flight at 7:30. I ended up flying out there, alone, since my friends decided to drive up there the night before. After an uneventful 2 hour flight, I pick up some Burger King and meet them up at the hotel around 10 and get a few rounds of testing in before I crash. I still hadn’t really decided exactly what I was going to use.   Saturday: Woke up around 6, had breakfast at the hotel, then drove up to the Pier around 7. I walked around by the vendors, for a bit, and traded for a third Judgment and a Last Day of Witch. I had about 2 hours to decide what to use, between Books or Dragons. Eventually, I filled out the decklist (Yes, I ran Wyvern/LaDD), deciding on using Dragons, and got my mat and sleeves. The tourney started soon after.   Round 1: Mirror - Lost dice roll I talk to guy for a little, before starting, and he tells me he had driven all the way from Tennessee. He also guessed that I was going to play Dragons, before we even started. I don’t remember why, but I was thinking he’d be using Evilswarms. G1: He starts by discarding Burner and Tempest, and obviously I find out he’s playing Dragons. He then tells me his friend had given him the deck to use the week before at locals and that he didn’t have much experience playing it. It showed when he discarded Stream and Redox, next, and overlayed the Tidal and Blaster to make Gaios. After pointing out that he couldn’t do that, he changes it with a Dracossack, in attack. I start by discarding Reactan and Tempest, and he chains Maxx. Colossal OTK’ed, soon after. G2: He summons Blaster, through Burner, then Rejuves and passes. I OTK through his Blaster, with Colossal. 1-0-0   Round 2: Mirror - Lost dice roll This guy ends up being a lot better than last round, but I don’t remember exactly how it went. G1: He starts with a Dracossack, in defense, with tokens. Next, I Reactan, and he chains Maxx. I pass. He OTKS, next turn. G2: A lot of back and forth, this game, and I eventually end up winning. G3: I remember in the last few turns, I end up taking his Gaios with Big Eye and dropping him to 2800. He plays through Maxx to try and take it back with his own, and I use up Gaios’ last material. He summoned Blaster and passed. Next turn, I make Colossal, run over his Big Eye with Gaios and ram Colossal into Blaster. He then tries to tell me Colossal can’t attack, because of Gaios, and I remind him that Gaios’ effect only applies while he has a material. He reads it for a good 10 seconds, then picks up all his cards, signs the slip, and walks away without waiting for the judge. 2-0-0   After the round, I see a few people I met the week before, when I went to a different locals to find that they were doing well, so far, as well.   Round 3: Mermails - Lost dice roll G1:  He went first. Discarded Gunde and Leed for Megalo, searched Sphere, summoned Leed. He then made Gaios, set 2, and passed. My hand at that point was 2 Reactans, Redox, Sword, and Blaster. I drew into another Blaster, and he immediately flipped up Imperial Iron Wall. I thought that was cute and discarded both Blasters to destroy it, to which he responded with another Imperial Iron Wall. I passed, just to see what else I could find out before the next game. He summoned Diva, summoned Infantry, summoned another Diva, then Marksman. Then, I scooped. G2: I can only play Reactan and Rejuve hoping to draw into Scarecrow, thinking he could OTK again. I didn’t and he could. 2-1-0   I was already cutting into my safety net and it started to worry me that it was happening, so soon. I went to get some snacks after the round and just listened to music as they were still going through time, which was pretty crazy how time lasted longer than the actual round, pretty much every round that day. Eventually, they post the next round pairings, and I see I’m playing against Steffon..   Round 4: Mirror (Steffon Bizzell) – Lost dice roll G1: This was my longest game of the day and there was a ton of back and forth. It lasted 35 minutes and there were a few resolved Crimson Bladers on both sides. Eventually, he won. 5 minutes left until time, I sided my norm for the mirror and shuffled it up quick. G2: I start strong with Dracossack, a token, LaDD, and 5 in hand. Time is called, right after. He steals LaDD next turn with BoM and Big Eye. I do the same, next turn, and summon Kycoo, while he only has 2 left in hand. With no plays left, it ended in a draw. 2-1-1   So, basically, I considered that to be a 2-2 and decided that I couldn’t lose, anymore. After, I started playing at the lower tables.   Round 5: Malefic Drain – Lost dice roll G1: He starts his first turn by playing Necrovalley. Right after, he set 3 and I was thinking he was about to play Royal Tribute on my hand of 4 monsters. He summoned Malefic Stardust and passed. I play into his infinite backrow, featuring Metal Reflect Slime, Imperial Iron Wall, Dark Bribes, etc. and eventually scoop seeing as I had no outs to all that. G2: I side in the MSTs, Fusiliers, and EEVs. Time was running out, so I had to win this one quick to avoid the draw. I managed to get an early EEV for 4, and he started slow playing shuffling between his 2 cards and checking his grave. Eventually, he passed, though and I managed to OTK. G3: He opens Necrovalley, Malefic Cyber End, and 3 backrow. I had the MST for the Necro and he Bribes and I draw into EEV. I get the EEV off with Fusilier, later, leaving him with the Necrovalley and Malefic. MST picks off the rest and I go for game. 3-1-1   Round 6: Mirror – Lost dice roll I don’t remember this match, at all. It was a 2-0, though. 4-1-1   Round 7: Mirror – Lost dice roll G1: He started with Draco in defense with 2 tokens. Opening hand was Book of Moon, Chalice, 2 Swords, and Reactan. I had nothing. Drew into Veiler and it was game. He had no idea what I was playing. G2: I grind him down to about 2600. It stays there for a while until I draw LaDD. He had 2 cards in hand and Draco with no tokens on field. I use Burner and he has the Maxx. I try to make a Big Eye through it, with the Book of Moon in hand, for a possible Veiler. He doesn’t have it and I get the Draco. Summon Tokens, tribute Big Eye and token for LaDD. He scoops and tells me he thought he was safe with Scarecrow in hand. G3: He goes first and passes. I summon Draco and he Veilers when I try to summon tokens. I had to pass. Time is called. He Electric Viruses Draco, summons Tokens and another Veiler. He makes Ancient Sacred Wyvern and summons Redox. He asks to go into Battle Phase expecting me to Veiler. I tell him it’s fine and he attacks into Scarecrow. He tributes Draco to destroy a token and passes. At this point, I was thinking to just go for damage. I managed to summon Gaia, LaDD, Blaster with Maxx left in hand. Gaia ran over the token, Blaster ran over Redox, and LaDD ran over ASW, dropping him to 1400. He Dark Holes and Books LaDD and I summon Redox back. He E Viruses, again, and activates Stream, meeting my Maxx. He plays through it and I +7, but didn’t draw the Scarecrow that I needed. 4-2-1   At this point, I basically thought I was out. I had heard, at some events, not even all the x-2’s made it, let alone x-2-1. But, my friend Nick said I could make it, if I just won out. The same thing had happened at the regionals where I went x-2 after round 6, so I thought I’d just try it. I needed one more win for Day 2 and 4 more to top. I was determined.   Round 8: Mirror (Won dice roll) My first won dice roll of the day. I was kind of happy. G1: It was even better after I saw my opening hand. I ended my turn with Dracossack, 2 tokens, and LaDD on field and 6 in hand. I passed and he scooped. G2: I don’t remember it much, but I won. 5-2-1   Round 8 was the end of the day, since it was already running late. It was about midnight, already, when it ended. I met up with my friends to see how everyone did. Out of the 5 of us, only 2 made Day 2. He was x-2, in the end, so we both had to win out to make the top cut. I played one more match with them, for fun, then I ended up taking the metro back to the hotel. I didn’t make it back until 2, so no sleep for me, that night.   Sunday: I don’t remember where or why, but I thought I had heard that Day 2 started at 9. Kind of luckily for me, I have a tendency of getting to places early. I ended up getting to the event at about exactly 8. I decided to walk around and meet up with my friends, again, when I noticed everyone was sitting at the tables in order playing matches. I looked and noticed that the clock had just started (it was at about 39:30). So I had to run to the pairings, then find the table I’d be playing at.   Round 9: Mirror I eventually find the table, right as a judge is signing for the game loss. -_- His family is also nearby, cheering him on. I thought that was kind of nice. G1: Game loss G2: He opens Dracossack in attack and passes. I kind of figured he had a Maxx, too, but I considered my play for a second. It was, about, literally 5 seconds and I got the slow play warning. Me and my opponent were both confused about that, and he said he didn’t think I was playing slow. I eventually activated Reactan, and sure enough he Maxx’ed. So that means Colossal OTK. G3: He spends his hand and ends with a field of Draco, tokens, and a backrow. I manage to clear it and summon Kycoo to keep him out. 6-2-1   I was feeling a bit more confident in my chances of making the top cut. Just 2 more rounds to go. Also, after this match, I happened to walk by Alex’s (Loli’s) match as I was going to meet up with my friends, and met him, so that was cool. But his match, though. ._.   Round 10: Mirror (Lost dice roll) I don’t remember much of this match except the last game. It was terrible. G1: He won. G2: I won. G3: He basically said screw everything we know. He starts the game by activating Super Rejuv. Then, he discards Lightning and Tidal, and Reactan and Blaster, after that. All of that was in that order. And I couldn’t punish any of that. He ended up making 2 Dracos in attack with the 3 tokens and passed. My hand was Reactan, Blaster, Tempest, 2 Swords, and then I drew into Maxx. He ends up Maxxing me later, and had the BoM for the Colossal. I lost. 6-3-1 (drop)   And that was the end of that. It was a fun run, but it would have been nicer to top, obviously. So, I spent the rest of the day in win-a-mats, winning 3 and 2-0’ing in every match, and watching Rapture’s matches. I also saw/met a ton of people I recognized from here and DN, so that was fun. Overall, it was just a good weekend. I’ll definitely have to do this again, next year.   And congrats to Hoban and Rapture for winning and making it World’s, respectively.   Props: - Making it out to Chicago - Day 2’ing my first 2 day event - Finally getting my mint 1st ed SDK Blue Eyes playset - Meeting tons of people I know online - Making money off the win-a-mats, trades, etc.   Slops: - Missing out on Friday - Not topping (obviously) - Lack of sleep the entire weekend - Winning one dice roll the entire weekend - Having a majority of playtesting against Prophecies and making most of my choices to use against Prophecies, and then not playing a single Prophecy deck all weekend -_-

Accessing the Rank 4 toolbox more than usual is plausible because of Berners, and there are many times I have seen myself with 2-3 Rank 4 monsters through Rabbit/Berners-Dragun-Berners combos. I must say, pulling off Shock Master is kinda fucking tough, and it's pretty costly resourcefully, but if you really want to go for it, it can be a game changer. I think Chidori might be the MVP and there have been many times I've wanted two in the extra. I just don't know if cutting something in the extra to make two is worth it. Maybe Maestroke, to be honest, it's really performed lackluster for me. Any suggestions would be awesome.   I really, really like this deck though. It's fun.
  21. Awakening the Psi-Dragons

This is most likely the build that I'm taking to the NAWCQ. I chose the Psi-Blocker over other cards, because it does weaken the mirror match somewhat, but it helps improve Gm 1 vs Evilswarm, Spellbook and Anti-Meta....can't say the same for D&L Bird.   Monsters: (29) 20 Dragon Rulers 1 Flamvell Guard 2 Psi-Blocker 1 Swift Scarecrow (in place of 3rd Maxx C) 3 Veiler 2 Maxx C   Spell: (12) 3 Super Rejuv 2 Gold Sarc 2 Seven Star Sword 1 Chalice 1 Card Destruction 1 Reborn 1 Heavy 1 BoM   Trap: (0)   Side: (15) 2 Fusilier 1 Swift Scarecrow 2 Tsukuyomi 1 Dark Hole 3 MST 2 EEV 2 Skill Drain 2 Vanity's Emptiness   Extra: (15) 3 Dracossack 2 Big Eye 1 Gaia Charger 1 Abyssgaios   1 Wyvern 1 TRA 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Black Rose 1 Armory Arm 2 Crimson Blader 1 Colossal     Let me know what you guys think and any possible changes that I may need to make, but I found this build to be the most consistent so far.

  25. Going into this regional I wanted to collab with a bunch of other people to try out different card choices to see which ones worked and which ones didn't for nats. It got to where I was trying out the Wyvern + Ladd version, other people were trying out Card Destruction, Flamvell Guard vs. Dragunity Corsesca, and side deck choices like Vanities' Emptiness compared to cards like Kycoo and Debunk.    I was also excited to finally play in a regional for the first time in a year since the store I worked for didn't make me sit behind the booth. Getting to the regionals I was able to catch up with everyone from the Pa, NJ, and NY area since they all came down for this which was pretty cool being able to sit down and talk to them about matchups and the deck in general. Sad that the people from the Virginia Beach area didn't come up though >:[ (talking to you Garon and Waller)    I ended up sleeving this up  Monsters 29: 3 blaster 2 burner 3 tempest 2 lightning 3 tidal 2 stream 3 redox 2 pebbles 3 veiler 2 maxx c 1 swift scarecrow 1 dragunity corsesca 1 eclipse wyvern 1 ladd   Spells: 9 3 super rejuv 1 reborn 1 heavy storm 2 gold sarc 1 7 star sword 1 book of moon   traps: 2 2 breakthrough skill   extra: 15 1 armory arm 1 blackrose dragon 1 karakuri burei 1 scrap dragon 1 colossal fighter 1 red dragon archfiend 1 gaia charger 1 gaios 1 lucky 7  3 dracossack 2 big eye 1 crimson blader   side: 15 2 debunk 2 eev 2 royal decree 2 mst 2 kycoo 2 electric virus  1 book of eclipse 1 metaion 1 swift scarecrow   Going into the matches might be a little hazy, but the key thing I noticed was that we'll be going into a time a lot come nationals. I ran into about 3 game 1's that lasted over 30 minutes with one of those going to 37.    One thing to notice about this was I also got really lucky in my matchups as I did end up going against 7 Dragons. So it doesn't hurt when you want to play the mirror all day. My only regret was I wish that I would've been able to play against more vers and spellbooks just for testing purposes.    Round 1 - Chain Burn I'm sorry, but this deck shouldn't even be in existence. It's only job is to fuck up people's days. In the first game I was able to put a Ladd onto the board early on in the game to get this one. In the next one I kept looping scrap dragons to pop his lava golem everytime he'd drop it on it. Eventually I drew into a decree and an eev and had them both set with a colossal on the board. I ended up flipping a decree and after he spaced it, flipped the eev to finish the match.    Round 2- Justine Yang (Edragons) In this match she made a major misplay in the first game by trying to get greedy and going into a dracossack to get her Ladd on board instead of using the dragons she had on the field already (she had the rejuv for 6 in hand if she did). I end up making a Crimson Blader to lock her down the turn after, before putting game on board the following turn.    After this game a bunch of people were asking if we were brother and sister. So apparently I have a little sister now lol.    In the second game she once again misplays by leaving a dragon on the field to get Crimson Bladered which sealed this match.    Round 3- EDragons The thing I remember about this match was he was going aggro for no reason. There was wyvern, ladd, debris, and redmd in his main deck and he would commit to this field way too early. In each of his games I would put me down pretty low, but would leave his redmd on board for me to take.    Round 4- Spellbooks In the first game I took it by not letting him do anything by Veilering the magician and sitting on a hard summoned Blaster. In the second game he dropped judgment day with plethora of spells to end with a jowgen and fate on board. Going into game 3, I drew my hand and Frazier stood behind me and basically said, "I'm sorry" to my opponent. I ended up first turn eev'ing him for 6 which got this.    Round 5- Jr. (Edragons) I sit down against a friend from my locals who needs his invite. I had the full intention of just giving him the win, but he still wanted to play it out. In the first game he misplays by veilering my big eye on it's effect instead of on summon, which allowed me to chain book and steal his blader for game. In the second game he ended up playing the wrong baby dragon and I capitalized on his mistake with the blader lock.    Round 6- EDragons A 37 minute game 1 that came down to me hitting his token with a Gaia Charger for game. In the second game it was going to be a grind game, but he ended up normal summoning twice, and just giving me the win because of that.    Round 7- Tahmid (EDragons) I got savaged in the worst way in this game 1. I had 2 blaster, 1 Ladd, and 3 veiler in hand. I asked him to show the otk and picked it up after when he did. In the second game it was a back and forth grind game. I ended up misplaying this game by not being a good asian and being unable to do basic math. I had game on board with an evirus in hand vs. his blaster and tidal. instead of taking his blaster i took his tidal, put him at 2200 and ended with a gaios. I gave him an extra turn when I shouldve taken blaster and finished it right there. In the last game he had the amory arm otk but ended up misplaying by forgetting that the tidal he brought out was through stream leaving me at 400. On the next turn I was able to wipe out his board and put a Kycoo on the field vs. his 0 hand to take the match.    Round 8-  Robert Jordan (EDragons) Top 8'd In the first game I stared down his early double rejuv, and we both ended up trading cards for awhile before I ended up making a miscalculation in life and getting crimson locked. In the second game I attempted to burner + wyvern him, in which he responded with maxx c. He passed his turn and I attempted to drop blaster getting back my ladd in whcih he maxx c'd me again. I go into the tank for a bit to think if I should push through the maxx c for game with ladd, but him having double swift wouldve put me in a bad position so I just attack and pass. He attempts to get something going and my Maxx C stops him in his tracks. On my turn i attempt to go for game again in which as im in the middle of making my plays a judge warns me to play faster as I'm playing my cards to push for game. In the 3rd game I just had hand traps gallore and he was unable to do anything sadly.    Round 9- Steffon Bizzell (EDragons)  It was the most savage thing to ever happen. He took out his deck, put his hand on top of it and said good game. It was nice actually seeing him undefeated in the last round with me since we both talked almost the entire night about a lot of different ideas to try out.    Props:  John Knox for driving - (2-0 and undefeated in both regs he's driven me to) Robbie Stargel for being there and getting me a drink after all of this Spitta for being the testing partner irl  Seeing Steffon and end up being undefeated with him in the regs Tyree and all of the Richmond crew coming and being entertaining.  Robert Jordan and Chris Spencer for getting their invites through T8'ing the regs Many many others Slops Ned for being a ssssssss Red Robin for having shitty food Seeing people go into time so much.
