1.  Dragon rulers Since the release of Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy in the TCG Dragon Rulers have made a huge impact on competitive play from the initial "baby build" that dominated 2013 NAWCQ to the September builds ranging from early Plant to the format defining Dragunity and Pure variants. January banlist saw them severely hit, but the player base still refused to lay down the all powerful dragons. While far from dominating, Hieratic Rulers made several tops, while the end of the format saw a new Dragon Ruler deck using Mythic Dragons combined with a lot of draw power, instead of the Hieratic engine. April banlist is here and with Hieratics getting what most see as a minor consistency hit, and Mythic version being intact, Dragon Rulers still remain at worst a possible meta call due to the ability to run Skill Drain in the main without considerate drawbacks.     CORE CARDS
These are the core cards played in Dragon Ruler decks. Banishing dragons to constantly spam rulers is the idea behind using them. Using dragon tuners lets you bring out powerful synchros, while themselves Rulers give access to rank 7 plays. While some spells and traps have good synergy, since the hits the deck got a support engine was needed to either tutor or dig for the rulers, and add additional plays to your arsenal. Dragon Rulers
Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls  Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders  The 4 Dragon Rulers remain the core of the deck and running all 4 is the current standard.
Tuners
Flamvell Guard   Dragunity Corsesca Debris Dragon Influence Dragon While the tuner line-up will depend on the strategy  each player chooses these are the most played. Hieratics will play Flamvell guard and maybe a Debris, while Mythics will add a second Guard and Influence Dragon. Dragunity Corsesca has seen play as an addition to both. Notable interactions: All can be used as Cards of Consonance targets Guard and Debris have a relevant DEF of 2000 Influence and Guard are valid Debris targets Guard is searchable with Blaster, while the other 3 are searchable with Tempest Guard is a vanilla to send with Dragon Shrine
Spells
Upstart Goblin Dragon Shrine Dragon Shrine is pretty self explanatory and is seen as a must at 3 since the limiting of Dragons. Upstart Goblin is nowadays considered standard and has been talked about and written more than enough.
Traps
Skill Drain Skill Drain is arguably the best card in the deck, and its relevance regarding the meta will determine how good Dragon Rulers are. Decks badly hit by it include: Geargia, Madolche, Spellbooks, Constellar, Evilswarm, Fire Fist,... Reckless Greed Reckless Greed gained a lot of popularity during the evolution of Dragon Rulers. Works well in combo decks, and decks that produce hard to break fields, so it can be considered for both variants.
Extra deck
Mecha Phanton Beast Dracossack Number 11: Big Eye The rank 7 monsters go together with Dragon Rulers, 2 Dracosac and BigEye are considered staple extra deck cards. Scrap Dragon Stardust Dragon Crimson Blader Colossal Fighter Both deck make level 8 synchros with ease and these are the 4 most played. Leo, The Keeper of the Sacred Tree Trident Dragion Star Eater Black Rose Dragon Your tuner and strategy choice will determine what your extra deck will look like. These are some non-level 8 synchros you can potentially run. Notable interactions: Stardust Dragon and Colossal Fighter work good with Skill Drain up since both effect are not negated by it. Dracossack effect can be used to tribute itself under Skill Drain to still pop a card. Since the addition as Crazy Box as a staple in most rank 4 oriented decks, the importance of  having Leo and/or Star Eater has increased
Other cards to consider Cardcar D Pot of Duality Hand traps ATK stoppers Mystical Space Typhoon Forbidden Lance Dark Hole Book of Moon Trap Stun Discard traps All "real" traps Stardust Spak Dragon Thought Ruler Archfiend Red Dragon Archfiend Angel of Zera Master of Blades
HIERATIC BUILD
The first cards used as support were the Hieratic monsters. While not being a serious contender on their own, paired with Dragon Rulers, Hieratics saw a resurrection beginning of January format. While the later shift was geared to Mermail and Fire Fist, Hieratics remained a valid choice. The idea of using Atum to bring out other dragons while feeding the grave and deck thinning with Ashes is still a good one, despite consistency issues and weaknesses it has.   Hieratics
Hieratic Dragon of Su Hieratic Dragon of Eset Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit These are the 3 Hieratic monsters ran as support to the rulers. Eset and Tefnuit are combo starters, one a normal summon the other a lvl 6 Cyber Dragon with the Hieratic twist, while Su is the second combo piece able so special summon itself by tributing one of the other 2, and pop a backrow without losing advantage.
Vanillas
Labradorite Dragon Luster Dragon #2 Wattaildragon One of the main drawbacks of running Hieratics is the necessity of running Vanilla Dragons to fuel the plays. While some advocate running 2 for extending the combos, considering the decks consistency issues, adding more normal monsters will not help.   Notable interactions: Labradorite has no ATK but is a Debris target and tuner Luster #2 can be tribute summoned over a Hieratic to make a potential Black Rose Dragon. It also can serve as Tempest discard fodder While Wattail can't interact with Tempest the 100 ATK is enough for it to at least be taken into consideration when choosing the normal dragon
Spells
Hieratic Seal of Convocation The Hieratics ROTA got Semi-limited so it will be run at 2 in all Hieratic decks including Dragon Rulers Wingbeat of Giant Dragon Can be a win condition on its own, but is ofter played around, each player has to decide if its worth a slot in the main or side.
Traps
Hieratic Seal From the Ashes Fuels your grave with dragons and is along with Atum the tie between the 2 archetypes. Can on its own  fuel 1 Dragon Ruler summon per turn, and its destruction trigger effect makes for some interesting combos, but the fact its an awful card to draw to established fields along with it being slow makes most players regard it as a necessary evil. Call of the Haunted Helps with one of the main problems the deck has, which is the weakness to recover from any disruption.
Extra deck
Hieratic Dragon King of Atum Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger Atum tutors your Dragon rulers out of the deck, and is responsible for one of the strongest opening fields the current meta can provide. While his Invoker-like effect has proven to be crucial for the success of Hieratic Rulers it also illustrates the biggest weakness coming with Hieratics, the vulnerability to hand traps. Gaia is played to complement with Atum, usually at 1. Photon Strike Bounzer Gauntlet Launcher Constellar Ptolomy M7 Other good Rank 6 monsters are viable choices, M7 being to most popular. Notable interactions: Gauntlet Launcher has a high DEF of 2800 which is enough to stop most threats Going into M7 after being hit by Maxx "C" helps not give away advantage as his effect can add a Hieratic to your hand for future use
Other cards to consider Monster Gate One Day of Peace Enemy Controller Magic Planter Dragard Galaxy Serpent Chaos Sorcerer
MYTHIC BUILD
End of the format saw the birth of a new way to use Dragon Rulers, the Mythic deck. Feeding the grave with dragons by paying costs of discard traps proved to have its merits, with probably the only 2 players piloting the deck at ARG Las Vegas having reached the top cut. Having the ability to bring out problem cards like Felgrand and Leo from turn 1, this deck proved to be a force to be reckoned with, and seems to be one of the best decks at the moment.  Mythic Rulers
Mythic Tree Dragon Mythic Water Dragon The 2 Mythic Dragons have been debated since their releases and saw play from time to time. Searchable with Redox and Tidal, Water serves as Trade-in fodder while Tree can be used to make Rank 7 plays with Tidal or Rank 4 with Debris Dragon. Together they give access to powerful Rank 8 plays which makes them worth consideration.
Spells
Cards of Consonance The draw card to complement your tuner line-up. With your additional consistency cards of choice you will be digging into your cards like no other deck can. Gold Sarcophagus When used with Dragon Rulers Gold Sarc is eventually a +1 cause of the search effects. It searches any of your tuners or Mythics, while in time gives access to a color. Burial from a Different Dimension This is the card people will complain about in this deck, like they did about Return a while ago. Use your big dragon to search, and then just reuse them to put more pressure and win.
Blue-Eyes engine
Blue-Eyes White Dragon White Stone of Legend Trade-In Serves as an additional draw engine and makes sure you always have dragons in grave for your plays. White Stone replacing itself with a Trade-in target and dragon in hand is a handy interaction which can give you considerate advantage.
Disaster Dragon route
Masked Dragon Blizzard Dragon Exploder Dragon Other cards used in Disaster Dragon While Blue-Eyes engine was played in both premiere event topping list this deck had January format, the cult following Disaster Dragon has, contributed to builds without BEWD topping smaller events. If less Bear and Marksman are seen, while at the same time more Armor, this might be the way to go. Notable interactions: Masked Dragon searches all your non Dragon Ruler cards, including the Mythics Blizzard Dragon has obvious uses in the Geargia match-up Koa'ki Meiru Drago is another monster typical to Disaster builds which might make Dragons a good pick against Artifacts While Fire Ferret is a better choice in most cases, the fact he can be searched and doesn't target can make Exploder a good choice.
Extra deck
Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis The rank 8 monsters are arguably your most powerful bosses, and can change and win games on their own. The reason to run Mythics is rank 8 access and you should abuse them as much as you can. Exciton Knight Silent Honor ARK Lavalval Chain Queen Dragun Djinn Running Debris Dragon gives you access to rank 4 plays with Mythic Tree Dragon in grave. Exciton and Silent Ark are the currently most powerful splashable rank 4s while the interactions Lavalval Chain and Queen Dragun Djinn can have make them worth consideration.
Other cards to consider Card Trooper Beast King Barbaros Fog King Dragoncarnation Castle of Dragon Souls
The Side Deck

Combos
Due to Upstart being played, 1-turn OTKs will be less common. However, they do exist, and there are specific combos which, while not putting your opponent at 0 LP, will put you in a position such that you'd most likely win.   Cards Needed: 2 Hieratics, 1 Ruler/Shrine Summon Hieratic Tribute SS Hieratic SS Vanilla SS Atum SS Dragon Ruler SS Dragon Ruler in your hand/Dragon Ruler you dump with Shrine *Overlay for Rank 7; detach the Dragon Ruler summoned by Atum  *SS back the Dragon Ruler summoned by Atum Note: The steps in asterisks can be deviated from should it be necessary.  Note: Generally you'd want to summon BLASTER off Atum if possible because you want the Ruler you revive later on to have the highest ATK Note: You can substitute 1 Dragon Ruler with Flamvell Guard if you want to make a Level 8 Synchro (Blader anyone?) instead of the Rank 7   Cards Needed: 3 Hieratics, 1 Ruler/Shrine Summon Hieratic Tribute SS Hieratic SS Vanilla SS Atum (by detaching vanilla, absolutely necessary if you play only 1 level 6 vanilla) SS a Hieratic from your deck SS/summon/tribute the Hieratic to SS back a vanilla SS Atum and SS Dragon Ruler SS Dragon Ruler in hand/Shrine dump Dragon Ruler and then SS *Overlay for Rank 7; detach the Dragon Ruler summoned by Atum  *SS back the Dragon Ruler summoned by Atum Again, Guard can substitute a Ruler if necessary   congrats, you have made 2 atum and a Rank 7 as well as summoning back a potential Dragon Ruler and in the meantime probably popping 1/2 backrow   Su Loop (ONLY possible if you play 2 Vanillas, which is why I am a huge proponent of doing so) Cards Needed: Su, Tefnuit/Eset, another Hieratic Summon Hieratic Tribute SS Su Summon Vanilla Tribute Hieratic in hand to pop a backrow SS the second Vanilla from your deck  Overlay 2 Vanillas for Atum SS Su off Atum Tribute the (first) Su to pop a backrow SS Vanilla from Grave Overlay for Atum Do your stuff   With 3 Hieratics, you summon 2 Atum and pop 2 backrow - not bad (again only possible if you play 2 vanillas)
Sample decklists
Chris LeBlanc ARG Nashvill Hieratic Dragon Ruler
Main Deck: 2 Cardcar D 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 1 Labradorite Dragon 1 Flamvell Guard 1 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 1 Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 1 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 1 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders 3 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 3 Dragon Shrine 3 Upstart Goblin 1 Book of Moon 3 Hieratic Seal from the Ashes 3 Reckless Greed 3 Skill Drain 1 Solemn Warning 1 Torrential Tribute 2 Trap Stun Side Deck: 2 Maxx “C” 2 Effect Veiler 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon 2 Divine Wrath 1 Dark Hole 1 Swift Scarecrow 2 Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo Extra Deck: 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 1 Number 11: Big Eye 1 Constellar Ptolemy M7 2 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum 1 Star Eater 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Stardust Dragon 1 Crimson Blader 1 Black Rose Dragon 2 Gaia Dragon the Thunder Charger 1 Stardust Spark Dragon
Tahmid Zaman YCS Atlanta Hieratic Dragon Ruler
MainDeck: 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Cardcar D 1 Flamvell Guard 1 Luster Dragon #2 1 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 1 Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 1 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 1 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders   3 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 3 Upstart Goblin 3 Dragon Shrine 1 Book of Moon   3 Hieratic Seal from the Ashes 2 Skill Drain 2 Trap Stun 1 Solemn Warning 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Call of the Haunted 1 Bottomless Trap Hole   SideDeck: 3 Maxx "C" 2 Effect Veiler 2 Electric Virus 1 Swift Scarecrow 1 Dark Hole 2 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Overworked 2 Mistake   ExtraDeck: 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 2 Gaia Dragon the Thunder Charger 2 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum 1 Black Rose Dragon 1 Gauntlet Launcher 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Crimson Blader 1 Stardust Dragon 1 Star Eater 1 Constellar Ptolemy M7 1 Photon Strike Bouncer 1 Number 11: Big Eye 1 Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max
Admassu Williams ARG Las Vegas Mythic Dragon Ruler
MainDeck: 1 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 1 Redox, Dragon ruler of Boulders 1 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 1 Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragon 2 The White Stone of Legend 2 Cardcar D 2 Flamvell Guard 2 Card Trooper 2 Mythic Water Dragon 2 Mythic Tree Dragon 1 Influence Dragon 1 Debris Dragon   3 Dragon Shrine 3 Upstart Goblin 3 Cards of Consonance 1 Trade-In 1 Godl Sarcophagus 1 Burial From A Different Dimension   3 Skill Drain 1 Solemn Warning 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Torrential Tribute 2 Mirror Force    SideDeck:  1 Thunder King Rai-Oh 3 Maxx "C" 2 D.D. 2. Hieratic Rulers Post-DoL

Whats up DGz? I'm looking for some help with my Hieratic Ruler deck for next weekend. We have a $500 cash tourney coming the day after DRLG is legal so I'm pretty sure on Hieratic Dragon Rulers. Keen to hear everyones opinions on best deck Post-DoL also, because I may use something else at the tourney.   Monsters: 18 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 2 Maxx "C" 1 Luster Dragon #2 1 Flamvell Guard 1 Swift Scarecrow 1 Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 1 Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders 1 Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 1 Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls   Spells: 12 3 Soul Charge 3 Upstart Goblin 3 Dragon Shrine 2 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 1 Dark Hole   Traps: 10 3 Hieratic Seal From the Ashes 2 Skill Drain 2 Vanity's Emptiness 2 Trap Stun  1 Torrential Tribute   Side Deck: 15 1 Maxx "C" 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Twister 1 Nobleman of Crossout 3 Mind Crush 2 Mistake 2 Black Horn of Heaven 1 Full House 1 Needle Ceiling   Extra Deck: 15 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 2 Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger 2 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum 1 Constellar Ptolemy M7 1 Photon Strike Bounzer 1 Gauntlet Launcher 1 Black Rose Dragon 1 Stardust Dragon 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Crimson Blader   STARDUST SPARK DRAGON IS NOT LEGAL IN NEW ZEALAND D:   Post-DoL I've opted not to run Kuribandit. Yes the card is insane, but it gets worse the longer the game goes on. I also needed the space. I will stick to using Ashes unless you give me really solid reasoning not to use it.    I'm interested in any feedback you guys have on the deck, how to make it better etc. If you have any side decking advice please let me know.

  4. For those who are not familiar with the concept of the deck:   Disaster Dragon is an Aggro Control deck that plays disruption strategies mixed with lockdown and high aggression to gain and maintain control of the board. It carries a lot of momentum and explosive power as the deck can consistently drop two or more monsters per turn without losing advantage and often times they will be big monsters. This is done through the use of the deck's backbone card, "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon". This card is one of the most powerful dragons in the deck, outclassed only by a potential "White Night Dragon", or "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon". Red-Eyes' effect allows for the constant re-use of monsters from the Graveyard, as well as the ability to bypass the Normal Summoning limit and the requirements for Tributes that many decks suffer from. As a result, Disaster Dragon decks are packing some of the most destructive, highest ATK monsters in the present Metagame because they can bypass the tribute mechanic required to summon them.   Through the usage of cards such as "Koa'ki Meiru Drago", "Exploder Dragon" and "Light and Darkness Dragon" the deck is capable of shutting down and eliminating a majority of plays made by the current popular decks. The deck plays like a toolbox, with "Masked Dragon" working to recruit the dragons you need for tributes, Synchro Summon, Xyz Summon, monster removal, etc and cards like Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and "Genesis Dragon" allowing you to reuse, manipulate, or trade dragons around. Cards such as "Foolish Burial", and "Dragon Ravine" allow you to dump dragons into your graveyard faster while also aiding in the deck's inherent synergy, but some dragons such as "Yamata Dragon" or "Light and Darkness Dragon" cannot be Special Summoned, thus they are unable to bypass their two-tribute requirement via "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" as most dragons would do. Instead, the deck utilizes "Totem Dragon", a self-recurring dragon that can act as two tributes in order to Tribute Summon a Dragon-type monster. Being a Dragon itself, Totem Dragon is a viable target to search with "Masked Dragon" or to dump with "Future Fusion". It can also be revived by Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.   With the release of Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy, Disaster Dragon get another incredible supports in the form of Dragon Rulers, which have varied useful effects depending on their Attribute while also providing offensive boosts and fixing most issues that Disaster Dragon deck has ever since "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" is Limited in September 2012 Lists.     Monsters: 20   1x Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 1x Light and Darkness Dragon 1x Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos 1x Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 1x Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms 1x Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders 3x Koa'ki Meiru Drago 2x Blizzard Dragon 3x Masked Dragon 1x Delta Flyer 1x Exploder Dragon 1x Totem Dragon 1x Eclipse Wyvern 1x Debris Dragon 1x Flamvell Guard   Spells: 10 3x Dragon Shrine 3x Mystical Space Typhoon 1x Gold Sarcophagus 2x Pot of Duality 1x Book of Moon   Traps: 10 1x Solemn Warning 1x Torrential Tribute 2x Raigeki Break 2x Skill Prisoner 2x Castle of Dragon Souls 2x Dragoncarnation   Extra: 15 1x Stardust Dragon 1x Stardust Spark Dragon 1x Scrap Dragon 1x Crimson Blader 1x Trident Dragion 1x Star Eater 1x Ancient Fairy Dragon 1x Black Rose Dragon 1x Queen Dragun Djinn 1x Lightning Chidori 1x Abyss Dweller 1x Number 101: Silent Honor Ark 1x Leviair the sea Dragon 1x Number 11: Big Eye 1x Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack   The deck itself is quite consistent, it is able of controlling the pace of the game very fast through the use of your small dragons (Koa'ki Meiru Drago, Masked Dragon, Exploder Dragon) and big dragons (4 Dragon Rulers, REDMD, LaDD). Now that we have access to the dragon rulers, I feel like the deck is pretty good and can actually held its own againts the meta. Before anyone says that this particular deck is dead since the september 2012 list, I am just gonna say right now that this deck is far from dead. As long as Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon is not banned, the deck itself will stay alive and will keep evolving as format changes and as more dragon support are being potentially released.   People seem to forget that this deck greatess strenght is: Adaptabilty and the fact that it can evolve through formats as Disaster dragons has alot of variants to play from. In conclusion, as long as players such as Richard Clarke (The Deck's Creator) and other veteran Disaster Dragon players who loved the deck since its beginning still contributes into this deck, the deck would truly not ''die''.

Also, can be used to go into Cowboy to get rid of Ophion and do that cheeky 800 that sometimes wins games =3   Maxx "C"; I don't know about Maxx in the upcoming format if I'm honest, I've got a feeling it is gonna be a little lackluster tbh, it's been holding up ok currently but I guess we will have to wait and see. I may just Side Deck those two copies and put in a 3rd Veiler and BoM/Dark Hole.   One Day of Peace; Can help you get any combo pieces you are missing while protecting you on your next turn if you didn't quite get what you needed. I mean, who cares if you didn't attack for one turn? If you end that turn with M7, Bounzer and a Gustkraken after looping their hand -3, there isn't much they will realistically be able to do...   Black Rose Dragon; field nuke, I will take this out when Leoh, Guardbeast of the Great Tree (I think it's something like that) gets released.   I'm also considering putting Tidal in, even at one he could be useful. He alone can be the tribute for either ritual and can add an nice 2600 to an OTK effort. Idk though, for once being level 7 is annoying >_< Level Eater anyone?   I'm open to any changes ^_^
  6. Hieratic - Discussion

Introduction: Hieratic is, at the moment, a LIGHT Dragon archetype released in GAOV that revolves around tributing monsters to get summons and effect off. Most of the Hieratics special summon a normal monster from the hand, deck, or graveyard upon being tributed. With this they can easily Xyz into Rank 5, 6, and 8 without trouble. So far, the most comptetitive forms have been surrounding upon Xyz spamming through their Rank 6 Xyz, Hieratic Dragon King of Atum. This format comes with a limitation on Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon who was the main win condition in both the TCG and OCG. In the TCG you could OTK with an Atum + a REDMD in hand. In the OCG you would OTK with 3 Hieratics making 2 Atums, getting 2 REDMD, to make Gustav max. The OCG version was significantly more consistent. A mixed version of this deck also arose combining itself with Gishki to make Sacred Ptolemys Messier 7 to execute a hand loop. The TCG did not have this either but could still perform hand loop shenanigans, although semi-inconsistently. At the moment the OCG version of the deck is still viable as all you need is 1 Gustkraken to perform a loop with Messier but in the TCG it will not work consistently at all, or at least not nearly as before. Archetype Card Choices: Monsters: Hieratic Dragon of Gebeb Most people do not use this card as it only gets Hieratic normal monsters when tributed. If HSotDK was a normal instead of a Gemini then it would be used more often, easily. Hieratic Dragon of Nuit This card does have potential and uses but is very restricted. Only is used in decks focused around it. Hieratic Dragon of Eset This card has two important aspects: it can be normal summoned without condition except altering its ATK, and if can alter the level of all face-up Hieratics to that of a normal monster's level. This means she can help to support almost any version of the deck in terms of putting that last piece into the play. Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet This card is excellent, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The key error in this card is that it's level is 5. You can use Eset to alter it but otherwise it can put you in awkward situations without a way to alter his level. This is the key reason for people not to play him. Truthfully, it is all up to preference. His monster destruction ability and special summon ability is excellent, though. Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit Your normal summon is an asset in order to continue and create other plays in order to further your board position and increase your chances of OTKing. This helps to keep it in your pocket. Hieratic Dragon of Su Destroying Spells and Traps is actually extremely strong, especially with Royal Decree face-up. He provokes removal most often due to this. The main reason people play this card is for Rank 6 access. Unlike Nebthet, this card is actually level 6 which means you can create all the super special awesome Rank 6's like Hieratic Dragon King of Atum. This card is part of the reason why you should not lose to Mirror Force during your OTK. Hieratic Dragon of Asar This card can be used. He is nice with Ashes as it can bring himself, a 2600 ATK monster, out which is very formidable. Besides that, he should be easy to bring out but is often cut due to space issues. (a trend you often find with this deck) Hieratic Dragon of Sekthet His restrictions for bringing it out seem to be easy, in a way, but it is incredibly hard. In order to get normal dragons out, you must play the 4 main Hieratics in max amounts (well, you can choose no Nebthet) AND play 3+ normals AND get your plays off AND play other protections and aggression cards. Simply put, there is not enough practical space to include Set in this deck... well, in the OTK version at least. Ashes can help to get him out but you would be playing King Seal and that means you would have to be playing other normals to be able to make plays when you don't have him in the grave, etc. Overall, it is best to put Set in a deck for himself, for the moment at least. Consistancy is the beast to enslave this card but maybe there is a version that can fit in 1 of this excellent card. Hieratic Seal of the Sun Dragon Overlord You use this in the Rank 8 deck. It can also be used for the effects of Hieratics, as well. Hieratic Seal of the Dragon King This card, as said, has many restrictions. If you draw it, it is shit. You literally need to use it for an effect or tribute summon it as it cannot be used as a normal while in the hand. There are cards that can be used with this though. Debris Dragon can make Trident Dragion with this. Ashes drops and returns this. This can be used for Hieratic eff', yada yada yada. Like Set, consistency kills this card too well. A build using this card has to use some support for it as well. Spells: Hieratic Seal of Convocation Searches for ANY Hieratic. It IS a -1 but in some version it could be usable... kinda need to find that first. Traps: Hieratic Seal of Banishment This card has the most splashability of the Seal Traps but due to space it is often not played. Hieratic Seal of Reflection The card itself has provoked people to create "control" versions of the deck. Try it if you want but this card is not actually bad but its fault lies in its difficulty of use. (not for a person but itself is just not abusable/usable like Barrier or Judgment in the manner they have it) Hieratic Seal From the Ashes This card is a great card but is also hard to use A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon is a great card to use with this as well as Asar if you can fit it in this card is not a card to put in every version though. Extra Deck: Hieratic Dragon Sun Overlord of Heliopolis This card is very strong. The best Rank 8 at the moment in terms of acceptability and versatility Overlord can push out many combos while destroying your opponent's cards. The main problems the Rank 8 deck face's is that there is no consistent OTK (and even plays), the deck has to run at least 2 level 8 normal dragons (which are less likable in hand then a level 6 normal dragon... 1 tribute compared to 2) as well as a single level 6 usually, and none of the easily accessible Hieratics are level 8 which means you have to tribute twice in order to make this card (or any other Rank 8). Hieratic Dragon King of Atum The card that makes the large OTK plays. He can grab any dragon, although making them vulnerable to almost every attack, including Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon (who has been recently limited on the September 2012 list). This version was hit the hardest by the limiting of REDMD but the deck is still viable. There are techs and such many will use in this now, such as Hanzo, Gawayn, Swing of Memories, etc. It may also be a smart idea to increase on the S/T protection and destruction aspect of the deck as that will become one of the key factors hurting the deck this format, increased general Trap usage. Sample Deck List: 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 1 Wattaildragon 1 Luster Dragon #2 1 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 3 Cardcar D 2 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 2 Pot of Duality 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 1 Heavy Storm 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Night Beam 2 My Body as a Shield 2 Solemn Warning 2 Torrential Tribute 2 Mirror Force 1 Solemn Judgment Rank 8 This version is based around creating Rank 8's and occasionally other Xyz. Overall, this version tributes more then mostly every other kind since is focuses on using the effects of Su and Nebthet as well as Heliopolis. This version can randomly OTK as well but there is no standard for this version as of yet... or maybe ever. Sample Deck List: 3 Hieratic Seal of the Overlord 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet 3 Hieratic Dragon of Gebeb 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Cardcar D 3 Effect Veiler 2 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 1 Heavy Storm 2 Pot of Duality 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Hieratic Seal of Banishment 3 Hieratic Seal From the Ashes 2 Solemn Warning 1 Solemn Judgment Ninja This version is based around Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo. People tend to refer to it as a control version of the deck. There truly is not much to say, Hanzo gets a Hieratic, you do shit. This version is incredibly susceptible to Thunder King Rai-Oh. Sample Deck List: 3 Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 1 Wattaildragon 1 Luster Dragon #2 1 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 3 Cardcar D 2 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 2 Pot of Duality 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 1 Heavy Storm 1 Book of Moon 1 Mind Control 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Night Beam 2 Ninjistu Art of Super-Transformation 2 Solemn Warning 2 Torrential Tribute 1 Solemn Judgment Gishki With Gustkraken at 1 this deck was hurt a lot. It will not be very viable until we get Messier 7, as there is still an loop with that, but this deck will have to take other directions if it is to be usable. Evigishki Tetraogre may be a viable idea in this deck now. Gemini This version would base around abusing the TCG exclusive Hieratic Seal of the Dragon King. You can do so with Hieratic Seal From the Ashes, Debris Dragon, and Supervise. The deck has not general form. Important Notes: -If you are playing an OTK version of the deck you should still think about including a REDMD as sometimes you will come to situations where you need the last Atum to get him in order to be able to OTK while otherwise you would not. -If you could, you might want to try using 2 different named normals instead of the same one. It should not matter and this does get around Chain Disappearance so unless the ATK difference (or Attribute difference matters to you THAT much then don't be lazy.
  7. Ambicion

     -

- I have not been working on this for long nor have I tested it more then 20 games (altho I've obv. played more then that with the generic skeleton) but I thought I'd share it because it has some cards I thought were really good in it.  - 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 1 Wattaildragon 1 Luster Dragon #2 1 Curse of Dragon 1 Galaxy Serpent 1 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 3 Cardcar D - 3 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 3 Pot of Duality 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon 3 Stoic Challenge 3 Creature Swap 2 Enemy Controller - 40 - 1 Ancient Sacred Wyvern 1 Colossal Fighter 1 Crimson Blader 1 Scrap Dragon - 1 Number 61: Volcasaurus 1 Shark Fortress 1 Constellar Pleiades - 2 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum 1 Constellar Ptolemy M7 1 Inzecktor Exa-Beetle 1 Gauntlet Launcher - 3 Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger - 15 - 3 Electric Virus 3 Puppet Plant - 3 Xyz Encore 3 Prohibition - 3 Royal Decree - 15 - Reasoning behind choices:   Galaxy: makes easy good synchros but so far it hasn't really mattered too much. only one ive used was blader lol   Stoic: by itself this card is shit, i will not deny that, but when you combine it with con and swap i can win under maxx without giving a single shit. can help otk some times outside that tho. (get around gorz and such by putting the final attack through as the only direct attack, other lots of damage but conservative board scenarios) it can also be used as some form of "removal" or bait for certain cards like ptolemy, etc. (works with wingbeat for atm removal, too) also stoic + swap = gg even under maxx. lol   Swap: really good card and makes people salty when you use it on their safe zoned beetle, master, big shits, honest target, etc. (another reason to run luster/curse is for this and because they are not honest targets) you can also go give them redmd and bounce it to your hand with ptolemy and.... bujins say hi. (to my field)   Con: is okay and is really just filler that works with Stoic. Creature Seizure is another idea but is not the best versus a lot of decks and limits the number of cards i can normal to swap to just galaxy. i usually side this out first. :/   Colossal: can suicide and shit. if you know how good it was in dragons...   Beetle: for beetle.   Gauntlet: kills 2 cards in one turn.   Puppet Plant: against constellar and prophecy. turn 1 fate set every game is annoying and sure, i can play lance but if they have actual backrow then my wingbeat fizzles and i still have to deal with that shit. (maybe this is a fallacy)   Prohibition: is filler that works against prophecy. idk what else i could put here since im already siding in like 6/9 cards in against some matchups. :/ good card tho. - Things I'm not sure on:   1) If exa-beetle is relevant.   2) If Stardust is relevant.   3) If Prohibition is relevant.   4) If there is something better then Con to main. (right now)   5) If Force Focus is still an OTK I should worry about playing him for now. - I kinda wanted to hold this to myself since I think Swap is retarded and people are retarded for not thinking about it right now. (i kno some have and it not best in every deck so that is why some might not have spoken of it) Probably going to play this/something similar at Toronto.

This deck is still in its infancy, I have done testing but not enough to be comfortable enough to lock quantities included in the main deck. There are a lot of cards that barely missed the cut in this first draft but I still am on the fence about. Some of these include: Gold Sarcophagus, Exploder Dragon, Effect Veiler, Koa'ki Meiru Drago, etc. Redox works great because of the natural earths that this deck plays, and Blaster gets rid of all the problems that the fragile deck has.   Atum opens a lot of plays in this version of Hieratics, acting sort of like a baby dragon ruler, although vulnerable to Veiler. If I had the stuff to play full Dragon Rulers I would likely forego the Hieratic engine altogether, but the combos it brings are still powerful, and though this is clearly another "Pretend Ophion doesnt exist.dek" it can compete with the meta well, especially a Nationals meta this yr that will likely be flooded with Dragons.   Any tips and suggestions will be playtested with and considered, I just am really looking for a way to iron out the rough edges. The extra deck can probably be better too.

I feel that it is better than Gorz in this deck for many reasons. Gorz is sometimes undroppable because of being forced to set Lances and My Body on occasion when the OTK is not available and you are forced to slow roll. There has been too many times that I have drawn into Gorz after setting a My Body that is stuck set, or a Lance that I would rather not meaninglessly waste.    This card has also proven clutch against Fire Fist in the situations where the Bear gets in there and tries to get damage in for a search, Trag and Gorz allow the damage while Fader does not. There also have been the times where I have dropped Gorz against Mermail and it being a level 7 in my graveyard for them to reborn, to go into Big Eye. Seems obscure but it happens more than you would think.   Fader also allows for tribute fodder for Hieratics as Trag and Gorz do, so when those hands come up where you have Hieratics without Tef or Eset, they are still playable. I am still debating moving Fader to the side deck but so far in the maindeck it hasn't proven bad. The side deck is still in progress, its ever changing lol. Fader may also turn into swift scarecrow when Redox is released, more things to play with in this deck's future.   My Body As A Shield I have been testing with this card for the last few weeks at locals, and it has gone under heavy debate. It negates many of the same cards lance saves your monsters from, and also protects from Dark Hole if you fail to OTK, and I have stopped other moves such as Black Rose Dragon, Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis, Grapha destruction, Judgment Dragon, etc. I find it to have a lot of utility, and I like it as a 1 of.   This card also seems to be more useful that Forbidden Dress, which I have done minor testing with. It may still turn into Dress, after more testing, but that remains to be seen. Being able to protect a monster from the same destruction effects and not losing ATK sometimes has been the difference in an OTK. And without playing Solemn Judgment or Solemn Warning, the LP cost isn't as devastating.

I know is different from the usual Hieratic Deck but is really solid, and Is really cheap. I went for a turbo engine with Gebeb, Hieratic Seal of Sun Dragon Overlord and Advance Draw and it keeps running really good. Advance Draw is a really good card, you can tribute Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Tragoedia if you decide to use it, and usually when your opponent use Maxx "C" you can stop and bring Seal of Sun Dragon and use Advance Draw to recover your cards. Also it counts toward Super Rejuvenation. I'm looking for some advices on how to improve this deck (pls avoid saying add Cardcar D cuz obviously I can't afford it), right now I'm teching Mini-Guts but it have been looking solid so far.

  15. Hieratic - Discussion

Introduction: Hieratic is a Dragon-type archetype that originates from the set Galactic Overlord. The archetype relies on tributing monsters both on field and in hand to power their effects and summons. Upon being tributed, most of the monsters special summon a normal dragon-type monster from the hand, deck or graveyard. These normal dragon-type monsters are most usually used to then Xyz into powerful monsters. This deck is most well known for its OTK. Monster Cards: Hieratic Dragon of Gebeb Level 4 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 1800 ATK 400 DEF When this card destroys a monster your opponent controls by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, but its ATK and DEF will be 0. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 “Hieratic” Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. Gebeb is amazing but it will not be used in the Rank 6 version for the reason that you do not attack except with Xyz monsters (and the extra dragon from REDMD #2) and hence should not get his effect off. Even if you do get his effect off what are the chances the vanilla will stay on the board until next turn? He also only summons "Hieratic" vanillas if tributed (but not when attacking) and for this reason, as right now you shouldn't be running the gemini for various reasons, he is nearly useless. I'm sure you could find a way to incorporate him in some variation of the Rank 6 build but as of right now that is not an effective nor recommended measure. You obviously run this guy in any build using Hieratic vanilla(s). Run 0 in Rank 6. Run 0-3 in other versions. Hieratic Dragon of Eset Level 5 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 1900 ATK 1200 DEF You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. This card’s original ATK is 1000 if it was Normal Summoned that way. Once per turn: You can target 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster on the field; Until the End Phase, have the Levels of all “Hieratic” monsters on the field become its Level. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, but its ATK and DEF will be 0. Eset is a normal summon that specials any vanilla, unlike Gebeb, when tributed. This expands your options when making plays and gives you a backup if Tefnuit fails. Its actual effect is not to be dismissed at all, either. The effect sets up a lot of Xyz plays and, in my opinion, is underestimated. Using Veiler on it can cripple the player easily. It is also a level 5 monster so you can Xyz with this and Nebthet or Curse of Dragon (if you choose to play it) to make Rank 5 monsters like Tiras (which is unaffected by Dark Hole, a good card if you cannot OTK this turn), Zenmaioh (to clear face-down tricksters and backrow to assure the OTK and make your opponent play cautiously), and Adreus (to clear face-up cards that could stop plays, etc.). Run 3 in Rank 6. Run 0-3 in other versions. Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit Level 6 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 2100 ATK 1400 DEF If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand), but this card cannot attack during this turn. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, but its ATK and DEF will be 0. Tefnuit is the best card to have in your hand while attempting to perform an OTK or just simple plays. It allows 1 thing to happen: save your normal summon. This is clutch and is extremely important as it gives you flexibility you would not normally have when only having Gebeb or Eset. This card is slightly dead at some times though so some people may only run 2. Run 2 or 3 (I strongly advise 3) in Rank 6 and other versions. Hieratic Dragon of Nuit Level 4 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 1700 ATK 900 DEF Once per turn, when this card is targeted by a Spell, a Trap, or an Effect Monster's effect: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, but its ATK and DEF will be 0. Nuit is interesting. It has no abusive combo yet that does not require a lot of setup (you can use the effect of Dragrad to tribute a Hieratic and target this, special 2 vanillas.... :/ ) or a waste of rescources (Forbidden Lance, etc.) and the fact it does not special a vanilla when tributed makes it near worthless. Abuse it or don't use it. (some baddies use this over a 3rd Eset which makes no fucking sense to me, plz dont be stupid) Run 0 in anything but a dedicated build. Hieratic Dragon of Su Level 6 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 2200 ATK 1000 DEF You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 1 “Hieratic” monster you control. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 other “Hieratic” monster on your side of the field or in your hand, then target 1 Spell or Trap Card your opponent controls; Destroy that target. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, but its ATK and DEF will be 0. Su is amazing. It allows easy access to Rank 6 Xyz which enables the consistency and realisticness to the meta of the OTK version. It pops backrow to help ensure success and is overall my favorite card in the deck besides Tefnuit. Some people run this card at 2 or 1 or even 0. These people fucking suck and if you are one of them get better, please. This deck is not hard to understand... Run 3 in any version... maybe 2 in the non-Rank 6 versions but I recommend it at 3. You can easily incorporate the OTK into the other versions of the deck so why not? (it won't hurt lol) Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet Level 5 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 2000 ATK 1600 DEF You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 1 “Hieratic” monster you control. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 other “Hieratic” monster on your side of the field or in your hand, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; Destroy that target. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, but its ATK and DEF will be 0. Nebthet is a great card. Most people right now seem to like it over Su but I disagree. It does clear pesky cards Spirit Reaper and friends but I believe it is overrated. This archetype itself does not have a lot of protection for its own monsters (except Reflection) so it relies on the effects of its monsters to ensure its plays will go through. Nebthet just makes sure you will deal damage and get over big monsters... but you have other cards (like Exabeetle and the Rank 5's) that can do this better and are somewhat more accessible and sturdy. This card is excellent for getting out vanillas, getting rid of risks (especially face-down) and creating Rank 5 Xyz. Run 2-3 in Rank 6. Run 1-3 in other versions. Hieratic Dragon of Asar Level 7 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 2600 ATK 700 DEF You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT Dragon-Type monster from your Graveyard and 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your Graveyard. If this card on the field would be destroyed, you can Tribute 1 other face-up “Hieratic” monster you control instead. Asar is a beater. That is all he will ever be unless something happens, which I don't know what. Don't run him. Run 0 in everything... but maybe some Macro build. Who the fuck knows. Hieratic Dragon of Sutekh Level 8 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card 2800 ATK 2000 DEF Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 3 Dragon-Type Normal Monsters from your Graveyard. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. Sutekh on the other hand has potential. It can be used in a vanilla mill deck with dragons and shit, in a build running a lot of vanillas or something, or in some Macro build. There hasn't been very much development in him so not much has come up. With the introduction of From the Ashes he does gain some play ability in normal versions, possibly as a 1 of. It drops to the grave and returns them to the grave so after a play + the trap he will easily be accessible. Needs testing but as of now should not be played in any competitive build. Run 0 except in a dedicated build. Hieratic Seal of the Sun Dragon Overlord Level 8 LIGHT Dragon-Type Normal Monster Card 0 ATK 0 DEF A sacred relic engraved with a mysterious seal. Legend holds that it seals away the power of a Dragon who was said to rival the gods themselves. Hanging beneath the golden sun for many aeons, it has come to be known as the "Sun Stone" due to its divine nature. Overlord Seal should obviously only be run in a build that can abuse it with cards like Advance Dragon, Xyz into Rank 8's, using Gebeb, etc. Run 0-1 in Rank 6 (if you are teching it + cards). Run 0-3 in other versions. Hieratic Seal of the Dragon King Level 6 LIGHT Dragon-Type Effect Monster Card ? ATK ? DEF Gemini effect. -? King Seal has no effect yet so its uses besides a level 6 that works with Gebeb are not known yet. Depending how good its effect we will find out if there should be a new kind of build or not. Run ? in ?. Other monster cards to run: Luster Dragon #2 / Wattmeter-Dragon: you run 1 of each in the OTK to avoid Chain Dis killing you. Makes Rank 6's. Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon: one of the best cards in the deck. It allows for the OTK to be created and is great in general for his revival effect. A great beater and creates Rank 10's, this card is amazing. Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness: helps stop OTK's and losses. Is overall a good card but is not needed. Tragoedia: can copy levels for non-OTK Xyzing and can also make Gustaph. Helps stop OTK's and losses too. Dragrad: brings back a Overlord Seal and tributes Hieratics. This card can easily make Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. Curse of Dragon: allows for easier Rank 5 Xyzing. Card-Car D: easy draws since in this deck you don't want to put to much field presence out as it is very feeble, unless you are playing Reflection, etc. Lightpulsar Dragon: is a level 6 Dragon that can help Xyz into Atum. It also brings back REDMD if destroyed. It is not the best card for this deck, though, as its usefulness is after an attempt at OTK as you usually won't have REDMD in grave before that. Honest: don't run in the OTK as it would only be useful when trying to run over something with more than 3k atk. Is an okay card in this archetype. I would recommend trying it before not including it (especially if you are using Gebeb). Lightray monsters: since you can easily fill the grave with exactly 5 different LIGHT monsters, they are plausible cards. Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning: if you are playing REDMD and Atum, include this. It may be overkill but it does 2 things; removes potential threats (face-down monsters) and is a great next turn play (if you don't OTK). It is not needed in any build but is extremely strong and will be used by most, obviously. Divine Dragon Apocalyph: this card can help fuel Rejuv while adding the pieces of the puzzle to your hand! It can also help to access Dragonladdyxyzcard. Spell Cards: Hieratic Seal of Convocation Normal Spell Card Add 1 “Hieratic” monster from your Deck to your hand. Convocation is absolutely needed in this deck. Why not use it, dumb fuck? [s]...well if everyone starts maining TKRO and MC again (at max each) you could take this out to protect yourself a bit...[/s] Play 3, even when it's raining. Hieratic Seal of Supremacy Normal Spell Card Special Summon 1 “Hieratic” monster from your hand. Supremacy is okay. Its your choice to play it but it is a minus 1 in all circumstances. Run 0 in all versions. Other spell cards to run: Super Rejuvenation: the unofficial draw engine of the deck. It is absolutely amazing but has 2 flaws which is why it is recommended you don't run it in the OTK version; 1) It's effect activate in the End Phase, equals it has not instant benefits. and 2) If the goal of the deck is to OTK, a.k.a. kill you hand in one shot, why would you need this? Enemy Controller: this is mainly run in the control/slower builds. It is a very strong card but is not run in the OTK version because it does not help it at all. (the OTK needs space to Xyz and swarm the field, a level 4 monster is not going to Xyz into anything) Silent Doom / Swing of Memories: brings back a vanilla to Xyz again. Also helps the OTK. Advance Draw / White Elephant's Gift: some use this as a replacement for Rejuv or with it, even. Advance draw tributes so it can actually work with Eset to do shit. Gift is usually run in versions no running Rejuv and does not tribute + only works with vanillas, so it doesn't create any combos and is just a draw card. Trade-In: works with Rejuv and you can even search out the level 8 with Convocation! Yey!1!!!1!!! Future Fusion: thin your deck of those pesky vanilla and create a 5k beater? WHY NOT?!?!? Monster Gate: tributes and ss's. Don't run this unless you aren't running Maxx, Veiler, Card-Card, etc. as those get in the way. Reasoning: meh, your card or not. Don't run for the same reason as Monster Gate. Dragonconnection: tis' a good card. Return vanihillas to da dek and get a dragonnnn. Your card, again. Test it but 3 should not be recommended (as you will never want to open 3 of this card). This card can help propel the OTK A LOT. You choice...... btu Draguin also says it searches Koa'ki Meiru Drago. <- plz note Trial and Tribulation: this card may replace Rejuv. Its effect is instant (as of now) and is extremely powerful no matter what effect you use. Wingbeat of Giant Dragon: storm that returns the returnable Tefnuit to hand. Also can return REDMD to hand to complete an OTK. Inferno Reckless Summon: with all the low ATK monsters being summoned this is an amazing card. It works best with a deck made with it in mind, not just splashing it in. Trap Cards: Hieratic Seal of Banishment Normal Trap Card Tribute 1 “Hieratic” monster you control, then target 1 card your opponent controls; banish that target. Banishment is a great card but is more fit for control/slower builds. Run 0-3 in other variants. Hieratic Seal of Reflection Counter Trap Card When a Spell Card, Trap Card, or Effect Monster’s effect is activated: Tribute 1 “Hieratic” monster you control; negate that activation and destroy that card. Reflection is in the same boat as Banishment. It is more likely to be seen used in the OTK over any other Hieratic specific trap as it can stop Fader, Gorz, etc. but it has not seen much/any use in such. Run 0-3 any version. Hieratic Seal From the Ashes Continuous Trap Card ? Ashes is an interesting card. It helps prevent cards like double Crow and Chain from crushing the deck completely. this card also drops those pesky vanillas in grave. Lastly, when it gets killed it ss's a Hieratic. If the wording is that by any controller, then this card will work with Wingbeat and Sun Dragon for even more shenans. Run ? in ?. Other trap cards to run: Burst Breath: tributes and kills most monsters. Will definitely be run in an control build. Xyz Reborn: with the constant Xyzing this is almost always live. The question is though, is this card OK or a needed reboost? Horn of Heaven: tributes and NEGATES! Control build plz. Champion's Vigilance: card sounds meh but it could be better in practice. Remember, level not rank. Reckless Greed: get all the shit you need to do shit, whether its the OTK or trying to grab Rejuv. Burst Breath: kills a whole bunch of monsters and is a strong play devastating card. Extra Deck Cards: Hieratic Dragon King of Atum Rank 6 LIGHT Dragon-Type Xyz Monster Card 2400 ATK 2100 DEF Materials: 2 Level 6 Dragon-Type monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; have the ATK and DEF of 1 Dragon-Type monster in your Deck become 0 and Special Summon it. Almost OTK = deals 6k but not 8k because he's a pussie. Use 1-3 in any variation. (you can reborn a Other Extra Deck cards: Super-Dreadnought Railway Gun: needed for the OTK. Stellar Ptolemys Messier 7: amazing card. Uses don't need to be explained but it is not essential. Stellar Pleiades: amazing card as well. Shouldn't need to explain either. Thunder End Dragon: only for versions including more than 1 level 8 vanilla. The card is amazing but the builds are mediocre so far. Queen Dragun: for if you play a level 4 vanilla. Can be made with 2 Gebeb, Gebeb + vanilla, or Eset + vanilla. Photon Streak Bounzer: negates your opponent's monster effects on the field. This card is perfect against Inzektors and Wind-Ups, and pretty much everything else but Skill Drain.dek and Dark World. Number 25: Fullmetal Photoglide - Focus Force: this card is outclassed by Bounzer, easily. It does, however, have 100 more attack (which can be useful for a very situational need, like finishing off your opponent) and negates continuous effects, like Vanity's Fiend, so it is a viable option. Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: can be brought out with 1 vanilla + Eset and Hieratic. This card creates OTK's easily but requires a level 8 vanilla in the deck, at the very least. Inzektor Exa-Beetle: with the release of Dragoon this card has life after it's effect. Just pop and ride the dragon! Thunderclap Knight - Gaia Dragoon: this card makes the OTK. Before it was a guaranteed OTK you had to scrounge and hope you get all the pieces + more. With this you can turn your dead Atum's into beaters. gg Tiras, Adreus, Zenmaioh: each has their purpose and one of each should be put in any version. 1 for each occasion. Side Deck Cards: -These are more specific to the deck in a way. I'm not going to but "Bottomless Trap Hole", etc. as those are universal and can be put into any side deck, obviously.- Koa'ki Meiru Drago: this card is amazing versus the mirror. It has a hefty amount of attack and is okay versus some other matchups (like Piper as it stops the Kinka bounce). Drago is also "RotA"able with Atum. Macro Cosmos: this may seem to be a poor choice as it does interfere with the OTK but it is good versus; Inzektors, the mirror, Wind-Ups, HEROes (a little bit), DW, Piper, Evols (a little bit), Dragunity, and so on. It also stops those pesky D.D. Crows your opponent sided in. ----- Here is the explanation of the OTK loop and a video of it. Essentially this is the core of the basic deck. You can make your own version of the OTK version from scratch, as can be seen in the OCG Deck forums so here is the basic outline of this deck: 1 Wattmeter-Dragon 1 Luster Dragon #2 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 3 Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet 2 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 3 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 1 Monster Reborn 1 Heavy Storm 1 Book of Moon If someone could give me some non-OTK builds I'll post them here, with their credit of course.
  16. Noble Hieratics

I wanted to hold this to myself but I obviously am not going anywhere. Someone else probably has thought of this before but I have yet to see it on Youtube or online so if so, I am sorry for having the same idea as you... although that is total shit. lol 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 1 Wattaildragon 1 Luster Dragon #2 1 Alexandrite Dragon 1 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 3 Noble Knight - Gawayn 3 Cardcar D 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Offering to the Doomed 2 Pot of Duality 2 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 2 Forbidden Lance/Night Beam/A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon 1 Reinforcement of the Army 1 Monster Reborn 1 Heavy Storm 3 Reckless Greed 3 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum 3 Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger 1 Photon Strike Bounzer 1 Number 25: Force Focus 1 Inzektor Exa-Beetle 1 Sword Breaker 1 Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon 1 Tiras, Keeper of Genesis 1 Queen Dragun Djinn 1 Blade Armor Ninja 1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn/Number 16: Shock Ruler It's real simple and stupid at the same time. You make Dragun with Gawayn. Do shit. All of you are smart enough to understand it so no explaining needed there. Veiler is shit, exept against Rabbit. Don't even side that piece of shit... why the Hell not; here is my side as well: 3 Electric Virus 3 Puppet Plant 3 D.D. Crow 3 Dimensional Fissure 3 Royal Decree I don't have Shock Ruler so I am using Maestroke, I am not sure which is better. I only have 1 Night Beam so I am not sure which is better. I have yet to test Wingbeat so I am not sure which is better.
  17. What I would have played at Toronto

Main Deck: (40) Monsters: (23) 3 Hieratic Dragon of Su 3 Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet 3 Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit 3 Hieratic Dragon of Eset 1 Wattaildragon 1 Luster Dragon #2 3 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon 3 Effect Veiler 3 Cardcar D Spells: (10) 3 Hieratic Seal of Convocation 3 A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon 1 Heavy Storm 1 Book of Moon 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dragon's Mirror Traps: (7) 3 Hieratic Seal From the Ashes 3 Reckless Greed 1 Solemn Judgment Extra Deck: (15) 3 Hieratic Dragon King of Atum 3 Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger 1 Photon Strike Bounzer 1 Number 25, Force Focus 1 Inzektor Exa-Beetle 1 Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon 1 Tiras, Keeper of Genesis 1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier 1 Black Rose Dragon 1 Ancient Sacred Wyvern 1 Five-Headed Dragon Side Deck: (15) 3 Electric Virus 2 Maxx "C" 2 Swift Scarecrow 2 Offerings to the Doomed 1 Dark Hole 1 Mind Control 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Royal Decree So yeaaah, this is what I was using for around a month. I finalized the deck list throughout Nats and won a Flight with it, which apparently does not mean much. :/ Anyways I did change it up a bit after losing to bullshit in the deck and my misplaying. A misplay = you lose the game. I swear, it happened every time... and I know it is healthy or good for me or something. So I changed it up by: -1 Book -1 Mirror -1 Judgment -3 Veiler +3 Hanzo +2 Trans +1 Reinforc I am started to feel a version of this deck needs to go all out. Fuck the small shit, everything has a purpose towards completing the OTK. Also, a cool combo: > Send a level 6 Hieratic or Eset at End Phase with Ashes > 2 Hieratics = Atum > Atum gets REDMD > REDMD eff > Wingbeat to bounce REDMD and > Ashes eff > Xyz into Atum > Atum gets REDMD > REDMD eff > Special REDMD over REDMD > REDMD eff > Xyz into Bounzer > Xyz Gaia over the Atums > End field is Gaia (2600), Gaia (2600), REDMD (2800), and Bounzer (2700) The combo is broke. Your opponent either has to have a 3k+ Tragoedia or Gorz + another stopper to not lose as the first 3 add to exactly 8000. It is gimmickyish but still works. I did try MST but it sucked, honestly. There were too many times I felt I had to use it on Ashes while I also had to destroy a backrow. If I get Su, then their old backrow may be Bottomless or they could chain MST to my Ashes eff to send and thus kill it all off. (as this is in the EP) So I gave up on that and went full Wingbeat. Using only that card is risky but it is incredibly strong and unanticipated. After playing the deck for a bit at my local people would joke to my opponent that I play 4 Storm. lol I love the card but it is not for every version. It relies heavily on how you draw and how your opponent reacts to Tefnuit, both before and after they know you play it. There is also the idea that they have not played me enough to know I actually play 3. Most would think it was a tech or at 2 at most so that part is good for the card as well. Ashes works wonderfully. It is often one of the first cards I side out but still, it has had such an impact. I wish Su could destroy my own S/T or else it would be 10hundred times better. lol I would like to say goodbye to this version of the deck as I feel it won't last through next format. Maybe it will, but I'm going to play something different so someone else can have it. lol
  18. So I thought to make this because some people seems to be confused as to why this deck is good and how it works in its best (so far discovered) way. First, this video: For those who cannot see the video, this is how the combo goes in its most pure and easiest to understand form. The best feature for this is that you can save your normal summon for if they Veiler or Chain as you can use it to normal REDMD and get your loop back again. My Body mitigates that, and is more effective at doing so than Starlight in this deck. It also stops Bottomless and other single-shot destruction effects which road can't do. Its better than lance because it protects the whole front row, although the 1500lp cost can be steep in certain situations. *Wingbeat is the stones. Sometimes, people will save their spot removal traps for the Atum, in fear that there may be multiple tefs/esets in hand to push through their traps. This gives you opportunity to wingbeat your tef, special it again and blow the opponent out of the water.
  20. So I want to make a Hieratic deck for Traditional for fun. Here is what I have: Deck: (40) Hieratic Engine: (16) 3 Su 2 Tefnuit 3 Eset 1 Wattaildragon 1 Flamvell Guard 3 REDMD 3 Convocation Limited Cards: (5) 1 BLS 1 Sangan 1 Gate 1 Reborn 1 Heavy Banned Cards: (19) 1 CED 1 Witch 1 Yata 1 Brain 1 Change 1 Cold 1 Harpie's 1 Trunade 1 Confiscation 1 Duo 1 Sentry 1 Graceful 1 Pot 1 Metamorphosis 1 Premature 1 Snatch 1 Raigeki 1 Crush Card 1 Ring Extra Deck: (15) 1 Blaze Fenix 1 Cyber End 1 Reaper 1 Ryu 1 Thousand 1 Brionac 1 Goyo 1 Dark Strike 2 Gaia 3 Atum 1 Force 1 Bounzer So it is really easy to OTK with this, all you need is 3 Hieratic cards (at least 1 being a Su): Special Summon Tefnuit Tribute Summon Eset Special Summon Wattaildragon Special Summon Su Special Summon Flamvell Guard Synch Wattaildragon and Flamvell Guard for Dark Strike Fighter Attack with Su (2200) Attack with Dark Strike Fighter (4800) Dark Strike Fighter Effect Tribute Su (6000) Special Summon Wattaildragon Dark Strike Fighter Effect Tribute Wattaildragon (7200) Dark Strike Fighter Effect Tribute Dark Strike Fighter (8600) I just want help deciding what to keep, what to cut, what to bring in, etc.
  21. Hieratic Overdrive

I know we don't have Gustaph Cannon MAXX yet; and truth be told this deck is pretty nuts already. A huge problem i noticed right off the bat is Effect Veiler. It ruined many OTK attempts too much for me to overlook. I was surprised to hear that Hieratics actually perform decently in OCG (i don't keep up with a lot of oversees top tiers) despite almost every deck using triple Effect Veiler. So after a brainstorm i had a few ideas with amazing results. No Effect Veiler's yet. Yes, i will probably add them, once i find more anyway. My "answer" to Effect Veiler is Swing of Memories. It may not seem like much, because i didn't think much of it at first either. To stop the tug-of-war battle between my left and right brains, i tested them, and am very happy with the results. Obviously, the target is Wattaildragon or Luster Dragon #2. Normally an Effect Veiler to counter Atum is a turn-ending play. The monster Summoned off Swing of Memories lets me continue my turn; i usually won't be able to OTK my opponent, but summoning Photon Streak Bounzer puts some serious pressure on my opponent (I can OTK with the right cards though; with more copies of Swing of Memories, other Hieratics, Monster Gate, or Monster Reborn, which i can usually draw off of Reckless Greed or Pot of Duality). My opponents only answer will usually be Dark Hole (assuming they don't have any traps; i do use 3 MST, Heavy Storm, and 3 Su's so...yeah..he should be safe). To top it off, it becomes a fantastic topdeck later because my opponent will probably be weak from my previous plays from earlier, and making another Atum is a great comeback if a 2500 T'wattaildragon isn't enough. Also without Gustaph Cannon MAXX, OTK'ing is a little harder to do for now. Swing of Memories is adds that extra oomph to do so. Another card i'm using is a pair of Draconnection. I have mixed feelings on using 2, but i know that 1 works like a charm. Multiple Tefnuit's, Nebthet's, and Normal monsters in your hand can be swapped out for a monster you can actually make plays in. It is a -1, but it can be useful to start making plays and possibly kill your opponent. It has made many plays possible in otherwise dead hands. Normally, Draconnection is difficult to use, and the result is not worth it. However, it is proving to be very valuable in Hieratics. The last test card is Monster Gate. Basically, it acts as a Hieratic monster; that's the simplest way to put it (unless i SS Gorz off it...). If i add Effect Veiler i might remove it if it proves to be inconsistent, but right now, every monster in my deck besides Gorz is a good hit. Every monster. So i see no reason not to play this card.
