  1. Grandsoil Psychics w/Redox

    Hello!, This deck i've built (With Inspiration from Jeff Jones) is mainly for fun purposes but i would like to make the deck more competitive so i can play alongside people with meta decks at my locals and stand a reasonable chance.   In testing the deck has performed quite well (Only versus other non top tier decks like Chaos Dragons and Chaos Agents and the likes) but i just have so much fun utilizing these cards.   Before i go into more detail here's the decklist :           Monsters: 30   3x Serene Psychic Witch 2x Psychic Jumper 3x Psychic Commander 3x Redox 3x Crane Crane 1x Dandylion 1x Lonefire 1x Spore 3x Gigantes 2x Effect Veiler 2x Swift Scarecrow 2x Maxx "C" 2x Card Trooper 3x Grandsoil The Elemental Lord   Spells: 10   3x Emergency Teleport 1x Mind Control 1x Foolish Burial 1x Dark Hole 2x Scapegoat 1x Book Of Moon 1x Monster Gate     Traps: 0       Extra Deck: 15   1x Armory Arm 1x Naturia Beast 1x Ally Of Justice Catastor 1x Gaia Knight The Force Of Earth 1x Naturia Barkion 1x Black Rose 1x Ancient Fairy Dragon 1x Scrap Dragon 1x Colossal Fighter 1x Crimson Blader 1x XX-Saber Gottoms 1x Mist Wurm 2x Leviar The Sea Dragon 1x Soul of Silver Mountain     I don't have a side deck built but it would be pretty standard. Might main or side Caius if Ophion is that big a deal, i haven't had to much trouble with them so far. Madolche Magileine: A floater, instantly replaces itself on the summon i just felt like it didn't bring anything that the deck didn't already have. Again if Ophion is that big a problem I might main 3 and add some rank 4's but then I might have to restructure the whole deck. Giant Rat: Battle searchers are bad this format, besides the monsters practicly search themselfs CraneCrane: It's a cool trick, instant rank 3/Barkion with commander in the grave but whenever it was in my hand i felt there were better things to do, or it was dead because of whatever my opponent had on the field. Grandsoil: Another cool trick but whenever I had it I found myself focusing more on the graveyard for grandsoil plays rather than trying to make the best play, it just didn't work for me. 2/1 Silent Psychic Wizard: I tryed it at 2 didn't like it. Tryed it at 1 and absolutly hated it. I understand why people would rather play 1 or 2 but it doesn't fit my playstyle. Masked Chameleon: It was fun but I almost never had no synchro out while he was him my hand, also opening him wasn't really fun. [/spoiler]   ----------------------------------------- Explanation of some choices ----------------------------------------- [spoiler] 3 Wizard and 3 Myrmeleo let me go into crazy box Fairly easily for eradicator plays, plus myermeleo lets me search trap holes and acts like extra mst if i need to revive him also an earth for barkion plays.   Grandsoil needs a dedicated build, he could work in this deck since its easy enough to manipulate the grave with redox and wizard but he can be dead more times than i would like.   Mst is for rouges, you don't want to the guy losing to some macro skill drain or some random deck maining vanity's emptiness because you thought you were playing dragon rulers all day.   Trap Hole Nightmare is a target for myermeleo, plus most of the time when your oppoent special summons they're activating the effect. if they want to wait a turn because they know its set then good, gives me a turn to get rid of it.   Iron Chian for when you steal your opponents level 4 monster and there not earth. rank 4's for Wizard/Myermeleo Mist Wurm > Hyper Psychic Blaster becuse its generic [/spoiler]

I just have a hard time agianst Evilswarms since Evilswarm Ophion stops a lot of my plays; any suggestions will help! I can barely find any Grandsoil Psychic players.. grr! I am taking this to Chicago Nats

    This build is loosely based on the one that went x-2 at an LA regional recently.  Redox basically breathed new life into Jeff's psychics from last year so that now you have even more plays to work with. The biggest issue with this deck is usually deciding which play to make, which makes it play a bit like plants/water.         Deck   Monsters: 30   3x Grandsoil 3x Witch 3x Veiler 3x Maxx c 3x Scarecrow 3x Redox 2x Card Trooper 2x Jumper 2x Commander 2x Silent psychic Wizard 2x Reactan 1x Ryko 1x grand mole   Spells: 10   3x Trinity (still liking heavy for rogues, swarms, brofist etc) 3x E-tele 1x PoA 2x Gold Sarc 1x Mind control   Extra: 15   3x Vanity's fiend 3x Electric virus 2x Kycoo 3x Morphing jar #2 3x MST 1x Gorz   Extra: 15   1x Beast 1x Catastor 1x Gaia knight 1x Barkion 1x Armory arm 1x Landoise 1x Scrap dragon 1x Stardust 1x Black rose 1x Crimson blader 1x Leviair 1x Maestroke 1x Zenmaines 1x Big eye 1x Gaia dragon    Main: Ryko has been extremely solid early and late game.  He's a reliable out to option, plus the mill effect is always nice.  I'm leaning towards siding another to replace gorz.  It's not really searchable, but it's solid.   Grand mole is excellent in here because you usually don't care about your normal summon.  He's also an easy out to most soft locks.   All of the hand traps have been excellent.  Trag is really bad right now, and Gorz is only ok.  Scarecrow is by far the best option for this deck, and it's also Redox food if necessary.    Side: The side kind of sucks right now.  Electric virus, MSTs, and two morphing jars will probably stay.  I was skeptical bout morphing jar, but it's been amazing so far in testing.  It kills most rogue match ups and dragons have problems with it.     Vanity's fiend has been great against dragons and monarchs, but I'm not particularly attached to it.     Kycoo is good in theory, but obviously you have to draw him first.   I'm open to suggestions on the side.   Extra: Pretty standard.  If I'm missing anything important please point it out.   Thanks.

  7. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/EIVgSuuUTwQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Someone posted a build using T.G. and psychics on here a while back and I wanted to try it out for myself. I'm really liking it so far, warwolf with overdrive gives you the option of trish and striker is really useful as tribute or synchro fodder. The fact that striker is earth is also a big bonus so you can go into beast with cleric and then potentially grab a psychics back with cleric's effect. Another thing I've found in the past that if I'm staring down a 2000+ beater all I would be able to do is summon wizard and remove something then hope that I can find a way to synchro next turn. Striker helps with this problem as I can go striker + wizard into nightmare or brionac to deal with the threat immediately, rather than wizard grabbing a commander/cleric/esper only for it to get destroyed by a second attack. Another nice play is have witch grab esper then SS warwolf in the standby when esper comes out so I can go into wonder magician without having to use my normal summon that turn.
