1. GB FORMAT??

So it is the beginning of the gladiator beast format so I thought I would post a list for fun. I tried to fit in as much nekroz hate as possible. Anyone else have any thoughts about how to run the GBs?

Monsters: 11 2 Gladiator Beast Bestiari 2 Gladiator Beast Laquari 2 Gladiator Beast Equeste 2 Gladiator Beast Darius 1 Gladiator Beast Murmillo 1 Gladiator Beast Retiari 1 Brother of the Fire Fist - Bear   Spells: 9 3 Gladiator's Proving Ground 3 Fire Formation - Tenki 1 Book of Moon 1 Dimensional Fissure 1 Raigeki   Traps: 20 3 Gladiator Beast War Chariot 3 Fiendish Chain 3 Mirror Force 1 Macro Cosmos 3 Mind Crush 1 Vanity's Emptiness 3 Mistake 1 Solemn Warning 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Ring of Destruction   Total = 40
  2. Crystal Beast Ninjas

Hey everyone, I thought I'd share my deck and try to gain more insight about it. I've found the Ninja variant to be a tad bit more consistent than the more standard variants of Crystal Beast in the TCG at least. Not to mention, the Ninja variant is more open to tech choices and defensive cards. Its a fun XYZ toolbox deck first and foremost

Main Deck: 3x Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus 2x Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle 2x Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle 3x Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo 1x Marauding Captain 1x Summoner Monk 1x Scrap Beast   3x Crystal Beacon 3x Crystal Promise 1x Rare Value 1x Ninjitsu Art of Alchemy 3x Reinforcement of the Army 2x Pot of Duality 2x Ayers Rock Sunrise 1x Soul Charge 1x Mystical Space Typhoon 2x Dark Hole'   2x Ninjitsu Art of Transformation 2x Breakthrough Skill 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Mirror Force 2x Mind Crush   Extra Deck: 2x Lightning Chidori 1x Harpies Phantasmal Dragon 1x Cairngorgon, Antiluminescent Knight 1x Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer 1x Number 101: Silent Honor Ark 1x Number 103: Ragnazero 1x Number 82: Heartlandraco 1x Gagaga Cowboy 1x Daigusto Emeral 1x Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk 1x Leviair the Sea Dragon 1x Mechquipped Angineer 1x Number 25: Leviathan Dragon 1x Scrap Dragon   (Side deck is just stuff I've been messing with)   I used to run all 3 Cobalt Eagles and Ruby Carbuncles before, but it ended up leading to a lot of bad hands where you couldn't advance your plays if you drew them. Especially since this variant doesnt run Ancient City Rainbow Ruins nor Crystal Tree, drawing Cobalt Eagle and Ruby Carbuncle would usually be a dead a draw. This 2/2 split not only opens up two more slots in the deck but it lessens the chances you draw them, since ideally you want to fetch them with Pegasus or Beacon only.   I run 3 Crystal Promise simply because it makes the deck more aggro, and it can lead to many unfair plays which is what you want. This deck cycles through your Crystal Beast lineup quite quickly if you get the engine going, so Promise just allows for more pushy plays and makes sure backrow isn't just dead card advantage. This is also the reason I run 2 Dark Hole and Torrential Tribute; if you already have a Ruby on the field or you draw a Ruby, you can activate Dark Hole or use Torrential Tribute on a summon, send Ruby to the backrow, and then spam out with Promise while having destroyed your opponent's monsters. Not to mention, double Dark Hole and Torrential Tribute can potentially out an Vanity's Emptiness or a Djinn lock against Nekroz.   The reason I run Marauding Captain is not only because I wanted a 4th ROTA target, but this card surprisingly made the deck a bit more dynamic. He can special summon Ruby from your hand, which makes it a less painful to draw. Not only that, but if you have a Ruby out on the field already (either from Beacon or Promise), you can summon this card, special summon any other monster you have in your hand and then proceed to make a rank 3 monster if needed. I thought  I would end up regretting drawing this monster but it has proved to be really helpful.   Scrap Beast and Scrap Dragon have proven to be a really interesting techs. Not only is Scrap Beast a Ninjitsu Art of Transformation and an Ayers Rock target, but he provides level 8 synchro access, more importantly, he provides easy Scrap Dragon access. Scrap Dragon clears dead Ninjitsu traps, he combo's nicely with Crystal monsters themselves, and he can replace himself with Scrap Beast upon destruction.   I run one Rare Value since its really not that difficult to get 2 Crystal Beast monsters in your backrow, and it provides some really great plays with Ayers Rock Sunrise and Soul Charge while getting to draw two cards.     As many of you may also be wondering, I personally believe Pot of Duality is great at 2 in Ninja builds. 2 is a good number as it isn't too little or too much, and really the only time you want to be seeing this card is within the first turns. Late game it can be prove to be bad draw, not dead but a bad draw. Ninja variants are aggro orientated, and seeing that you run a lot of special summoning cards this card proves to be unnecessary in many occasions. Back then, when ROTA was at 1, 3 was staple no questions asked. But since ROTA is at 3 now, PoD is a bit obsolete now. If this deck didn't have a slow start, this card would probably be cut completely.    I used to run 2 Summoner Monks in this build, but half the time it was an unneeded card as Hanzo and Pegasus would go through all my monsters half the time, even more so when ROTA finally went to 3. Although its an awkward card to have at one, it still works as a great recovery card or back up card if needed. Just like Pot of Duality, its still a card that at the moment it still needs to be ran but unlike Pot, this card can become great if you happen to go into a late game (which rarely happens, but still).    The previous format I was running 3 Mystical Space Typhoon in the main deck because this deck autoloses to Skill Drain or Vanity's Emptiness. But now since the format has changed to a more favorable one for this deck, I cut it down to 1 and I am now able to fill in those spots with trap cards to make the build somewhat more defensive and responsive. 1 MST is still something I'm testing, but so far I'm liking it at 1 and if anything I can side in the other 2 coming games 2/3. I'm also still messing around with my trap lineup, so I cant provide solid conclusions about it right now. The ones in the deck are the ones I'm currently testing in the main deck.   Overall I feel like the Ninja engine is a reliable way to run Crystal Beasts. Hanzo essentially becomes a Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus and it deck thins really quickly once the engine gets started. As I stated earlier, I lean more towards this variant because its a bit more consistent compared to the other TCG variants while still being able to do unfair plays and spam out a field of monsters/xyz monsters with one card. With the Ninja variant, you also get to run traps which is something I find valuable, since the other variants have little to no defense because they are really combo-reliant. This deck, like any Crystal Beast deck really, is still a glass cannon, but it provides a great surprise factor.
  3. Flame Tiger & Chain Dog

I've always like beast types and was excited when ayers was released, but didn't see much use for it outside of heraldics or raccoons. I always knew about flame tiger and thought, while it wasn't that good it could have some cool interaction. I discovered chain dog was a card and decided to make this deck.       Decklist (40):   Monsters (20):   3x Mad Dog of Darkness 3x Chain Dog 3x Dynatherium 1x Fencing Fire Ferret 3x Flame Tiger 3x Flamvell Firedog 3x Mathematician 1x Rescue Rabbit   Spells (12):   3x Ayers Rock Sunrise 1x Foolish Burial 3x Forbidden Lance 3x Onslaught of the Fire Kings 2x Soul Charge   Traps (8):   2x Black Horn of Heaven 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Compulsory Evacuation Device 1x Solemn Warning 1x Torrential Tribute 2x Wiretap   Extra Deck:   1x Abyss Dweller 1x Daigusto Emeral 3x Diamond Dire Wolf 2x Evilswarm Exciton Knight 1x Gagaga Cowboy 1x Lavalval Chain 2x Number 101: Silent Honor ARK 1x Number 103: Ragna Zero 1x Number 50: Blackship Corn 1x Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk 1x Number 82: Heartlandraco   The basic combo of the deck is use flame tiger by skipping you draw phase, summon another beast, ss chain dog, xyz into dire, ss another chain dog, pop the beast you summoned by detaching chain dog, then ss chain dog back and xyz a second time. By having two chain dogs and a flame tiger in grave you turn your draw into two xyz's. With one chain dog you'll stop with the xyz and the monster you summoned, but even then this deck has additional options to ss monsters.   Generally the first thing you want to do is dump all the pieces in the grave. T1 optimal plays are using dyna and flame tiger/chain dog to go into lavalval chain to dump the other part. Also mathematician works just as well. Going second I usually try to exciton them. The deck does well when you simplify the game state, and making exciton isn't hard for the deck. You have onslaught and dyna primarily, but also have revival cards and lance to help push it through. Try to send your opponent top decking and when you do, pump out xyz's that just destroy whatever push they attempted to make. The deck has a harder time with decks that don't commit as much to the field however. Also, i think the most I've ever used flame tiger is 3 times. Its most effective to use it during the end game when your opponent is basically top decking to seal the win.   Card Choices:   3 dyna - Great for going into exciton and helps recover a failed play.   4 rabbit cards - As Storm Wolf mentioned, it opens up otk potential. Also rabbit is searchable by math when you have a revival card.   3 lance - Helps push through your excitons, great with ragan zero for a +1 raigeki break, helps with flamvell fire dog, and for general protection.   3 onslaught - Its basically a better foolish burial, and indirectly searches firedog with ayers/ soul charge. May seem  like a lot, but you want to open with it, and you aren't drawing every turn anyway.   2 soul charge - You only use 1 per game, but you want to open with it if you go second for a backup. Also its just a great backup in general. I cut to two because three tested a bit cloggy.   2 wiretap - Its slower than lance, can be counter wire taped, and is also worse to draw than lance after you exciton.
  4. Whats up DGZ? For the last few days I've been working on a new Gladiator Beast deck. When I scrolled through my DN looking for a base, I found my old Fire Gladiator deck. It has considerably changed since March 2013 Format or how ever long ago it was. I initially wanted to build GladTrix but they aren't aggressive enough for my taste, as opposed to this; extremely control and advantaged based, but it absolutely steamrolls everything else in raw advantage. Want to add 1-2 Fire Formation - Tensen to the main, if anyone can help me fit I'd appreciate it.     Main Deck: 40 Monsters: 15 3 Coach Soldier Wolfbark 3 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear 1 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Gorilla  2 Gladiator Beast Laquari 2 Gladiator Beast Darius 2 Gladiator Beast Equeste 1 Gladiator Beast Murmillo 1 Gladiator Beast Bestiari   Spells: 12 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Forbidden Lance 3 Fire Formation - Tenki 2 Fire Formation - Gyokkou 1 Fire Formation - Tensu   Traps: 13 3 Gladiator Beast War Chariot 3 Black Horn of Heaven 2 Dust Tornado 2 Seven Tools of the Bandit 1 Compulsory Evacuation Device 1 Solemn Warning 1 Bottomless Trap Hole   Side Deck: 15 3 Rainbow Kuriboh 1 Cyber Dragon 1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon 2 Light-Imprisoning Mirror 2 Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror 2 Dna Surgery 2 Mistake 1 Soul Drain 1 The Transmigration Prophecy   Extra Deck: 15 3 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King 1 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Cardinal 1 Number 101: Silent Honor ARK 1 Evilswarm Exciton Knight 1 Number 50: Blackship of Corn 1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Lightning Chidori 1 Ice Beast Zerofyne 2 Gladiator Beast Gyzarus 1 Gladiator Beast Heraklinos 1 Gladiator Beast Essedarii   Both the Fire Fist and the GB engines have amazing main and Extra deck support all around and both have so much synergy together. The way they fit together is obvious, so I'll explain the things that aren't as obvious. -3 Black Horn of Heaven Stops all those Synchro and Xyz plays. Picks up the workload before War Chariot has to.   -2 Dust Tornado Fire Fist and Spellbooks. The two most important matchups right now. Hits them both. Very good main deck choice. Hits pesky generic backrows and floodgates like Skill Drain and Mistake.   -2 Seven Tools of the Bandit Stops my opponents stuff chain-ables, mostly floodgates and stuff like Geargiagear & Abyss-sphere. Good cards are good and put in a ton of work.

Haven't considered a side deck yet, except for King Tigers, they support the theme, but didn't have synergy with other cards. Guides are in here for additional darks and for the ability to have an out to many different problems with just a normal summon. Looking for tweaks and ideas, as I wish to play this at locals this Saturday.
