1. Evilswarm Discussion                   “lswarm” or perhaps more commonly known by the name “Evilswarm”, brought to light in Hidden Arsenal and the latest Duel Terminal installment, is primarily an anti-meta strategy. Perhaps the best anti-meta deck of all time in regards to pre-packaged archetypes.                 The primary objective in this deck differs match-up to match-up. In most cases however, your goal is to summon various Rank 4 monsters and establish field presence as quick as possible. Unlike previous anti-meta strategies that had to rely on cards such as Forbidden Lance to keep monsters on board and the strategy going, this deck fears no typical spell/trap cards with the exception of a relative few. This allows you to get almost every monster you summon to stay on the board. That being said, with this being an anti-meta deck with all the anti-meta effects built into your 2 boss monsters, this will be all you need to secure victory.     Monsters
Evilswarm Castor: One of the 4 most important monsters in the main deck. He serves as a means to summon another Evilswarm monster and utilize the extra deck effectively. It is important to note that this monster is also immune to all typical forms of negation outside of an already face-up Skill Drain, Destiny Hero – Plasma, etc. Also searchable by Reinforcement of the Army as it is a warrior-type monster.     Evilswarm Mandragora: The second of most important monsters in the main. He also serves as a mean to get a body on board. This card single-handedly mitigates some of the disadvantages already found in typical stun decks, which is going second in the duel. He allows you to special summon safely, and is also not susceptible to Maxx “C” as it is an inherent summon. This card allows you to make substantial pushes or momentum swings when your opponent has already made one of their own.     Evilswarm Kerykeion: Evilswarm Kerykeion , like Mandragora gives you a Plan-B unlike other Stun strategies that usually crumble once their initial presence has been disposed of. Kerykeion however, is better in the fact that he can also create unwinnable situations for your opponent when you are already ahead. In essence, he is also a free rank 4 monster. Neat tricks with this card involve adding 2 summons onto the field when combined with Evilswarm Castor either in hand or in the graveyard.       Evilswarm Thunderbird: Evilswarm Thunderbird is only as good as the format allows him to be. This card shines in a backrow heavy format. Sadly enough, Evilswarm Thunderbird has yet to see those days. As of right now he remains a necessary evil however, adding to your total monster count and coming with his niche ability to dance around Dimensional Prison, Mirror Force, Bottomless Trap Hole, and the like. He is also useful in applying added pressure when you already have an established board.     Rescue Rabbit: The only remnant namesake of the loved and equally hated Dino Rabbit deck left standing. This card pulls 2 Evilswarm vanilla monsters out of your deck for a free (and in most cases, an advantage of +1) rank 4 monster. This rounds out the most important monsters in your deck.     Evilswarm Heliotrope: Evilswarm Heliotrope, much like Evilswarm Thunderbird, is a necessary evil as well. As much as it is terrible to draw a vanilla monster in today’s YGO, Heliotrope comes with a 1950 body that is only rivaled by Gene-Warped Warwolf. The latter no longer played means this is the biggest level 4 monster currently in the meta. He primarily in the deck to serve as a Rescue Rabbit target, however he can also be utilized with Evilswarm Castor and Kerykeion.     Other Possible Main deck Options:   Evilswarm O’ Lantern: Basically a DARK version of Exiled Force. This card being a lvl 4 DARK Evilswarm adds to your monster count and is also searchable.   Evilswarm Azzathoth: Beefy defense, sends any special summoned monster back to where it came from, the deck. Lvl 4 and DARK, also adds to your monster count. Has useful applications with King Feral Imp and in matchups such as the mirror.   Kagetokage: Serves as DARK XYZ-fodder for the all-important Master Key Beetle who will be discussed later. Can aid to creating near unbreakable locks and also decently searchable with the use of King Feral Imp.   Dark Armed Dragon: With the high DARK count in the deck, it is entirely dependent on the player whether they want to main this card or not. Like Mandragora and Kerykeion, he can aid in huge momentum swings.   Hand Traps (Maxx “C”, Effect Veiler, D.D. Crow): How good these cards are depend entirely on the meta. If your meta is very Dragon heavy, D.D. Crow and Maxx “C” could be very effective. If you see everything but Dragon Ruler, and more rouge strategies such as Constellar, Fire Fist, etc, Effect Veiler may be a good choice for you main as well.
Spells
Infestation Pandemic: Infestation Pandemic is the card that allows you to swarm the field recklessly. This card creates a blanket from all backrows for the turn for every Evilswarm on the field at it’s time of activation     Reinforcement of the Army: ROTA allows you to search Castor, thus increasing your chances of making a rank 4 XYZ Monster     Other Possible Options: Allure of Darkness: In a deck with plenty of darks, a draw card couldn’t possibly hurt. Upstart Goblin: Helps you draw your power cards sooner. Forbidden Dress: This card is highly reliant on your meta, but can be a very good choice.
Traps
Infestation Infection: Infestation Infection allows you to trade any non-xyz lswarm to the deck in exchange for another. This card can help compensate for slow openers and allow you to trade your useless Heliotropes and Kerykeions for Castors and Mandragoras. On the flip-side, this card can drastically help you even further establish your board by searching for Kerykeion when you have loaded your grave with spent Evilswarm monsters. This card helps aid to any hopes you have of swinging momentum in your favor. It is also chainable to any removal and will resolve with effect. On top of all this, it also helps mitigate the effectiveness of XYZ Encore, which is a commonly sided card against this deck.     Other Possible Options:   Eradicator Epidemic Virus: In a deck that is constantly summoning DARK monsters that are just at or above the 2500 ATK benchmark, this card can hand you the game in an instant against the right deck.   Safe Zone: Can help protect Ophion from destruction and form a near unbreakable lock when protected by Master Key Beetle.   XYZ Reborn: Fringe pick. This card can help you re-establish board presence without the need of Kerykeion or Infestation Infection.   Dark illusion: Being able to protect your Dark monsters from being targeted by cards including but not limited to Effect Veiler, Firefist Bear and Blaster can be game changing
Extra Deck
Evilswarm Ohion: Evilswarm Ophion is perhaps the most important monster in the extra deck. His effect allows you to bring to your hand either Infestation Pandemic or Infestation Infection. With 2550 attack, he runs over most relevant monsters in backrow-heavy decks. He also stops entire decks in their tracks such as Dragon Rulers, Dragunity, Karakuri, Samurai, Synchro Infernity, while also stopping all relevant boss monsters in not so good matchups such as Prophecy.     Number 66: Master Key Beetle: About the only monster that can truly challenge Ophion as boss monster in this deck, Number 66: Master Key Beetle. In game 1, this monster is used to protect any card you choose in your setup. Generally speaking, the one you can’t afford to lose the most. He also creates a near unbreakable lock with Safe Zone that is only out’d by decks utilizing Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Royal Decree, Spellbook of Fate, Ice Beast Zerofyne and Constellar Pleaides. After siding is where this card really shines however. It can be used to protect your flood-gate cards such as Dimensional Fissure, Imperial Iron Wall, DNA Surgery, Macro Cosmos, Soul Drain, etc.     Evilswarm Ouroboros: Outside of the two aforementioned XYZ monsters you will rarely find yourself pressed to summon any others. This card however can get you out of a pinch, coming with a variety of effects at your disposal. He is particularly useful in the mirror match, where nothing can run him over short of Gagaga Cowboy. He can be used to dismantle most backrow dependant decks such as Fire Fist, Gadgets, etc. The Evilswarm in his name also aids to his usefulness as you can protect him with Infestation Pandemic and assure you get value out of him.     Evilswarm Bahamut: Evilswarm Bahamut is one card that is particularly useful in ending games when your opponent least expects it. He requires just as many resources as Ouroboros, except he can end the game when the situation arises. One neat thing about this monster is the fact that if his effect is negated, you do not discard, as he discards when his effect resolves. Also, if the monster is flipped face-down, you still gain control it.     Evilswarm Thanatos: This monster really only fills a certain niche in certain matchups. Basically any deck that relies on monster removal to get going, such as Gadgets, Constellar and Fire Fist can find itself falling prey to Thanatos.     Evilswarm Nightmare: Evilswarm Nightmare, much like Thanatos is very shallow in it’s uses. It can be used in matchups where your opponent special summons frequently, or has to special summon to run over things. However the monsters they are special summoning have to be XYZ or lower level threats or else you should be using Ophion. These matchups include the mirror match, gadgets, constellar, wind-up, etc.     Evilswarm Exciton Knight: The NEWEST Addition to the "Evilswarm" Lineup, being released in "Legacy of the Valient".  This card is bound to see play in not only Evilswarm, but other decks that can produce lv 4 XYZ monsters as well.     Other Cards to Consider: Number 101: SIlent Honor ARK Knight Abyss Dweller King Feral Imp Number 50: Blackship of Corn Gem-Knight Pearl Gagaga Cowboy Diagusto Emeral Lavaval Chain Maestroke the Symphony Djinn Photon Papilloperative Diamond Dire Wolf
Sample Decklists
Top 16 YCS San Mateo Gabriel Gonzalez    Monsters (16) 3 Evilswarm Kerykeion 3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Thunderbird 3 Evilswarm Mandragora 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 1 Rescue Rabbit   Spells (11) 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Infestation Pandemic 2 Forbidden Dress 1 Reinforcement of the Army 1 Allure of Darkness 1 Book of Moon 1 Dark Hole   Traps (13) 1 Solemn Warning 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Compulsory Evacuation Device 1 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 1 Infestation Infection 1 Torrential Tribute 2 Mirror Force 2 Fiendish Chain 3 Vanity's Emptiness   Side (15) 2 Maxx "C" 2 Effect Veiler 1 Dimensional Fissure 2 Smashing Ground 1 Soul Drain 1 Macro Cosmos 1 Dust Tornado 2 Dimensional Prison 3 DNA Surgery   Extra Deck (15) 1 Wind-Up Zenmaines 1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Number 66: Master Key Beetle 1 Daigusto Emeral 1 Diamond Dire Wolf 1 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Gem-Knight Pearl 3 Evilswarm Ophion 1 Evilswarm Nightmare 1 Evilswarm Bahamut 1 Evilswarm Ouroboros 1 Number 50: Blackship of Corn   Top 32 YCS San Mateo Desmond Boyd    Monsters (18) 3 Evilswarm Kerykeion 3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Thunderbird 3 Evilswarm Mandragora 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 1 Evilswarm Obliviwisp 1 Evilswarm Ketos 1 Rescue Rabbit   Spells (13) 3 Infestation Pandemic 3 Forbidden Dress 3 Upstart Goblin 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Reinforcement of the Army 1 Allure of Darkness 1 Book of Moon   Traps (9) 2 Dark Illusion 1 Solemn Warning 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Compulsory Evacuation Device 1 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast 1 Infestation Infection 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Mirror Force   Side (15) 3 Effect Veiler 3 Forbidden Chalice 2 Chaos Trap Hole 2 Debunk 2 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Dust Tornado 1 Mirror Force 1 Eradicator Epidemic Virus   Extra Deck (15) 1 Photon Papilloperative 1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Diamond Dire Wolf 1 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Gem-Knight Pearl 3 Evilswarm Ophion 1 Evilswarm Bahamut 1 Evilswarm Ouroboros 1 Number 85: Crazy Box 1 Number 17: Leviathan Dragon 1 Number 50: Blackship of Corn 1 Madolche Queen Tiaramisu     Abdel Zizouza’s 1st Place Evilswarms 140-Man Tournament ~ Germany, January 21st    Monsters: 19 3 Evilswarm Kerykeion 3 Evilswarm Thunderbird 3 Evilswarm Mandragora 3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 1 Evilswarm Olantern 1 Evilswarm Ketos 1 Dark Armed Dragon 1 Rescue Rabbit   Spells: 10  1 Reinforcement of the Army 1 Allure of Darkness 1 Book of Moon 1 Dark Hole 2 Forbidden Dress 2 Infestation Pandemic 2 Mystical Space Typhoon   Traps: 13 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 1 Infestation Infection 1 Soul Drain 1 Solemn Warning 1 Xyz Reborn 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 2 Memory of an Adversary 2 Safe Zone 2 Dimensional Prison   Extra Deck: 15 1 Gaia Dragon, The Thunder Charger 1 Number 66: Master Key Beetle 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Heroic Champion Excalibur 2 Evilswarm Ophion 2 Evilswarm Bahamut 1 Evilswarm Ouroboros 1 Diamond Dire Wolf 1 Daigusto Emeral 2 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1 Photon Papiloperative   Side Deck: 15 3 Overworked 1 Dust Tornado 1 Macro Cosmos 1 Dimensional Fissure 1 Puppet Plant 1 Electric Virus 2 Blackwing Sirocco the Dawn 2 Swords of Concealing Light 1 Mystical Space Typhoon   ACS Las Vegas 2014 - Top 16 Anthony Eckroth   Monster(s):18 3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Kerykeion 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 3 Evilswarm Thunderbird 3 Evilswarm Mandragorn 1 Rescue Rabbit 2 Effect Veiler   Spell(s):11 3 Upstart Goblin 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Infestation Pandemic 1 Book of Moon 1 Reinforcement of the Army   Trap(s):11 3 Fiendish chain 2 Dimensional Prison 1 Infestation Infection 1 Solemn Warning 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Macro Cosmos 1 Seven Tools of the Bandit    Side Deck:15  2 Maxx "C" 2 Zombie World 1 Twister 1 Dark Hole 1 Dimensional Fissure 3 Mistake 2 Overworked 1 Black Horn of Heaven 1 Soul Drain 1 Eradicator Epidemic Virus    Extra Deck:15 3 Evilswarm Ophion 2 Evilswarm Excition Knight 1 Evilswarm Bahamut 1 Number 66 Master Key Bettle 2 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Number 101 Silent Honor Ark 1 Number 50 Blackship of Corn 1 Diamond Dire Wolf 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Number 85 Crazy Box 1 Maestroke The Symphony Djinn
-Props to Soul for Last Formats Evilswarm Discussion Thread

For awhile I was main decking three chalice, but decided to get rid of that in favor of other stuff. I might ditch the wiretaps in favor of 2 Chalice since I do still like it as a card, but it depends on how the deck fairs in the near future.   Dark Armed is an incredibly live card in the deck, especially with Soul Charge. Dropping it can easily turn the game in my favor, and I very much like having it. Continuing on the topic of Soul Charge, I ran two of it for awhile before dropping down to 1. It's good at one, I don't think I'd want to get rid of it, but two copies is too much for the deck.   Safe Zone + Vanity's + Key Beetle in the Extra is incredible, I love it. A field of Ophion + Key Beetle + Vanity's is essentially game against most decks, and I love having them. The wiretaps are really the only thing that I'm not having too much success with, but that might be just luck of the draw, etc. Swapping them for Chalice is again something I'd totally do, but I'm not sure yet.   Siding the Maxx's over maining them is working well for me, though with some persuasion I'd main them again. Kaiser in the side deck is incredible, almost to the point where I want to main deck it, though I probably won't do that without more reasoning. Full House is another side card I really am enjoying, especially since we're going to start seeing some Pendulum decks in the near future.   The Extra Deck is pretty much all standard, only difference being that I don't run a second Abyss Dweller. There're just other cards that I'd rather have.
  3. If I activate Infestation Infection as CL1, and Mirror Force as CL2, would it make a Fire/Ice Hand miss timing?   Assuming I activate the effect of Infection.
  4. So, How about them Evilswarms? It seems to top every now and then but with NATS coming around the corner, I'm sure the internet's great minds can figure out a way to make this deck better. This is the best I can do. I need a way to draw monsters more efficiently. I use maxx c for draw and stopping power. Any help appreciated.

Monsters: 19   3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Kerykeion 3 Evilswarm Mandragora 1 Evilswarm Obliviwisp 3 Evilswarm Thunderbird 2 Maxx "C" 1 Rescue Rabbit   Spells: 11   1 Allure of Darkness 1 Book of Moon 1 Dark Hole 3 Infestation Pandemic 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Rank-Up Magic - The Seventh One 1 Reinforcement of the Army   Traps: 10   1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Compulsory Evacuation Device 1 Infestation Infection 2 Safe Zone 1 Solemn Warning 1 Torrential Tribute 3 Vanity's Emptiness   Extra: 15   1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon 1 Blackship of Corn 1 Evilswarm Bahamut 1 Evilswarm Exciton Knight 3 Evilswarm Ophion 1 Evilswarm Ouroboros 1 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Gem-Knight Pearl 1 Silent Honor ARK 1 Ragnazero 1 Masquerade 1 Master Key Beetle 1 Umbral Horror Masquerade    Side: 15   2 Cyber Dragon 1 Dimensional Fissure 3 DNA Surgery 1 Eradicator Epidemic Virus (I want to get rid of this) 3 Fiendish Chain (Deciding between this and Chalice) 3 Light-Imprisnoning Mirror 1 Macro Cosmos 1 Soul Drain   The inclusion of Seventh One is something that I'm testing at the moment, and so far, I quite like it. Getting out Masquerade is extremely profitable in the deck, as even if they manage to play around it, it functions as a floodgate for a few turns since nobody really want their life halved for no reason. There's a decent chance that you'll draw it in your first five cards, however, meaning that it can be a dead card considering that Evilswarm have no way to stack it. It's pretty useful as a bluff, however, as Ophion + four backrow looks very threatening to the opponent. Also, I'm considering running a second SIlent Honor ARK + Silent Honor DARK instead of the two Masquerades, as that would be one less dead extra deck space.   Forbidden Dress and Soul Charge are two cards that I see a lot of Evilswarm builds run, and I've tested both cards. I'm semi-willing to add Soul Charge back in, I'm just not too confident on it's synergy with the Evilswarm win condition. Soul Charge feels very counterproductive, as skipping a battle phase isn't really something you wanna be doing with the deck IMO. It's the same reason that I dislike upstart in the deck, if you're trying to win as fast as possible, why are you giving them survival time to burn out your resources? With only three Kerykeion plays you can make, I understand why people run the card, but I'm not sure how much I like it.   Dress is a card I'm more likely to add in than Soul Charge. The only reason I don't have it in this build is that I'm really bad at using it, and get pissed off about the ruling with Compuls/D-Prison. Either way though, I'm probably gonna add it back to the deck, as it's unarguably a strong pick.    I went for the third Vanity's over the third Maxx "C" as I believe it's a better floodgate, especially when combined with Key Beetle. As long as I can establish field first, which Evilswarm are very good at doing, it allows me to inhibit their plays very well. I might run a second Key Beetle, as it's pretty potent with cards like Vanity's + Safe Zone.   Crazy Box is a card I might take out, as Skill Drain match-ups aren't very common and I think I'd prefer a second Silent Honors or Exciton. I'm also deciding between Gagaga and Heartlanddraco, and would like some opinions on that.   I'm notoriously bad at making side decks, which you can probably see by looking at mine. Some help on that front would be very much appreciated.

  7. Hey DGZ. Yesterday I went to the Catskill Regional for fun. I ended up getting my first regional top 8. I had a good tournament experience this weekend, it was alot of fun!   This is the decklist I used, disclaimer: I could not find an Excition Knight for the deck.   3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Mandagora 3 Evilswarm Thunderbird 3 Evilswarm Kerkyion 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 1 Rescue Rabbit   3 Infestation Pandemic 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Book of Moon 1 Reinforcement of the Army   3 Fiendish Chain 2 Mirror Force 2 Dimensional Prison 2 Black Horn of Heaven 2 Seven Tools of the Bandit 1 Solemn Warning 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 Macro Cosmos 1 Infestation Infection   1 Thunder King Rai-Oh 1 Dark Hole 1 Dimensional Fissure 1 Twister 2 System Down 1 Black Horn of Heaven 1 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 1 Soul Drain 2 DNA Surgery 2 Light-Imprisoning Mirror 2 Overworked   3 Evilswarm Ophion 1 Evilswarm Bahamut 1 Daigusto Emeral 1 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1 Number 85: Crazy Box 1 Number 50: Black Ship of Corn 1 Number 101: Silent Honor ARK 1 Diamond Dire Wolf 1 Number 66: Master Key Beetle 1 Evolzar Laggia 1 Evolzar Dolkka     So I get the regional sleeve up hang out for a bit see some friends shoot the shit, and around noon first round is posted.   Nick vs. Harpies   0-0   Game 1   He bricked pretty hard. He basically Cardcar Ded 3 times and I beat him up with guys followd up with Pandemic. I didn't know what he was playing so I just replaced Rabbit with Dark Hole.   Game 2   He drew a bit better. He got Party off, made a Lavalval Chain dumped a Zephyros. He swung bounched his Party and passed. I made a wierd play with Diamond Dire to swing over Chain and pop Party but he had Veiler. :/   Game 3 I draw alot of backrow and stick an Ophion. He tries to make a Chidori play that gets Horned then his Party got MSTed. Sorry dude.   Nick vs. Fire Fist   1-0   Game 1 He is playing like a +1 kind of build. I Prison his 2 bears and just run over all his shit.   Game 2 I summoned Helio set Macro and a couple other, he went Tenki Bear and that Macro stuck their the entire game, gg dude.   Nick vs. Bujin   2-0   Game 1: We grinded it out for a while and it comes down to him having is Susan with 2 Tenkis up. He bluffed my backrow so he didn't attack over my Ophion, when he finally did, I had drawn a Prison the turn previous, from their I just beat him up with my guys.   Game 2: He dumped all his Bujingis, I couldn't catch up.   Game 3: I open Helio, Twister, Mirror Force, DNA Surgery, Kerk, Warning. I summoned Helio set 4. I Twistered the Tenki he summoned Turtle, had Lance when I swung, I let turtle come in. It came at me again and I Mirror Forced it. I grinded him out with Ophion Pandemic plays.   Nick vs. Bujin   3-0   Game 1: He seemed pretty nice, shuffed mad fast. Anyways, I just had the backrow to make plays around his guys. Simple enough.   Game 2: I had a Surgery and Light Mirror Up, he Decreed me and beat me up with Susan.   Game 3: I have my floodgate chillin, I make a Maestroke play to kill Yamato without fear of Crane, I end up with Light Mirror, Soul Drain up with 3 sets, I come in with Maestroke and he tries to Full House me, I had 7 Tools. I start ripping guys and pushing through.   Nick vs. Geargia   4-0   Game 1: He starts pooping on me and I come back, somehow, all he needed was a monster for 5 turns, he didnt get one, in the mean time I drew answers and topped TBirds, he had Warning on the first one but I had 7 Tools. :/   Game 2: Armor and double Geargiagear, he nutted all over me.   Game 3: I open Helio, 3 Kerk, MST and Thunderbird. I am like fuck, I lost. I summon Helio set MST, he sets an Armor, sets Geargiagear, MST I know deep down in my gut if he resolves a GG I lose, so I end phase Typhoon and hit it. I just keep summoning guys and pushing, he GGXs me and I stole it with Bahamut and swung for game. Good duels.   Nick vs. Water   5-0   Game 1: I open TBird, Mandagora, Chain, Warning and like a DPrison and MST, I set everything except Tbird and pass. He summoned Diva, I chain it, he ditched for Megalo and I Warning then asked me if he still gets to search for Dragoons -_-, I summon Tbird, Typhoon his Sphere and kill him with Ophions.   Game 2: He gets Tidal dumps, Megalos me, he had the nuts.   Game 3 I dont open Ophion, comes down to me Fiendishing his Teus, he summons Linde and pokes, I Manadgora, normal Kerk, Kerk gets Booked. He swings at Mandagora and I respond with Soul Drain. I made Ophion smacked Teus and he scooped with 4 in hand.   Nick vs. Spellbooks (Feature Match!)   6-0   Game 1: They have like a feature match thing and we got called for it. I won the die roll and opened Ophion, I ended up Kerkying him and getting it.   Game 2: I litorally watched him play Solitare....   Game 3: Pretty much the same thing as game 2..... #salt   Nick vs. Evilswarm    6-1   Game 1: I win the die roll, Ophion, he tries to do it back and I Warning, I grind it out.   Game 2: He Excition Knights me, so were both low on resources, he ends up making an Ophion and hitting me with it, I ARK him, he tries to Ark me back and I Black Horned him, I rode that ARK all the way into top 8!   Standing goes up, I knew I topped after going 7-1. I ended up getting 5th, the deckbox looked shit, I got 6 packs too, whipee. The mat is ugly too. :/   Props   topping having fun no dickhead opponets people cheering me on as the evilswarm guy playing at the top tables round 3-8 my friend joey getting his first invite bk after my friends for giving me motivation my boy chris for testing like crazy with me   Slops   long drive home having a cold spending money the mat being ugly as fuck alot of friends scrubbing

  9. Evilswarm Deck For Regionals .

Hey guys, I have decided I was going to take this to my Regionals in Louisville on March 1st. Unless someone greatly convinces me otherwise. My main reason is, I haven't played with this deck at large scale tournaments for a while. I know this deck isn't very fun, at all. But to me neither is Geargia or Fire Fists. So it doesn't really matter which I take. I have been testing this on Dueling Network lately and it has been doing extremely good. So here is my deck, explanations will be at the end.   Main Deck 40:   17 Monsters: 3x Evilswarm Kerykeion  3x Evilswarm Castor 3x Evilswarm Thunderbird 3x Evilswarm Mandragora 3x Evilswarm Heliotrope 1x Rescue Rabbit 1x Dark Armed Dragon   10 Spells: 3x Infestation Pandemic 3x Mystical Space Typhoon 2x Forbidden Dress 1x Reinforcement Of the Army 1x Dark Hole   13 Traps: 3x Fiendish Chain 2x Mirror Force 2x Black Horn Of Heaven 2x Mistake 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Infestation Infection 1x Solemn Warning   15 Extra: 3x Evilswarm Ophion 2x Evilswarm Bahamut 1x Evilswarm Ouroboros 1x Evilswarm Exciton Knight 1x Evilswarm Nightmare 1x Number 101: Silent Honor ARK 1x Number 66: Master Key Beetle 1x Number 50: Blackship Of Corn 1x Gagaga Cowboy 1x Diamond Dire Wolf 1x Maestroke The Symphony Djinn 1x Abyss Dweller   15 Side: 2x Effect Veiler 2x Maxx "C" 2x Twister 2x Overworked 2x DNA Surgery 2x Deck Devastation Virus 1x Eradicator Epidemic Virus 1x Soul Drain 1x Macro Cosmos     Reasonings:   No Compulsory Evacuation Device
The card is subpar vs the meta. It really doesn't do much. Tbh most decks can easily come back. 1) Mermail: If your CED even makes it to their summons, which it could unless they blind MST, Marksman you, they can easily summon more. If you bounce their xyz they will still be able to do more if it is the same turn or not, mainly since if they summon Megalo they can search out their Squall or Sphere. There is never a situation where CED will hurt them very much due to the fact that most of their stuff is searchable and able to be summon easily through Sphere, Squall, Abysslinde. Running CED just to stop some of their summons won't help very much, I would much rather use Soul Drain, Abyss Dweller, Macro Cosmos. Because none of those really waste spots like Compulsory does.  2) Fire Fists: What? They already plussed of their monster if it's Prince. You just let them re-use it and hope they don't have Tensu or Rekindling. Which they can easily acquire with them both at three and one being searchable. And if you bounce their first monster summon they'll just have their card back in their hand for re-use. It will be even worse if they have Tensu. I mean unless you win the turn after you activate CED they'll just do the same thing. What will you do then? 3) Spellbooks: What does it do vs them? They easily get over it. They have monsters they can easily summon, if you bounce their first summon wow big deal. Unless you can OTK them, they'll do the exact same thing. They might even special summon priestess and laugh at you. I would rather run stuff that is assured to help when used, not a gimmicky card that really doesn't have much use for the top decks. 4) Hieratics: The only real competitive Hieratic deck is the Ruler variant. And CED hardly hurts them. Yeah you can bounce their first xyz. But their main goal is summoning Rulers it is what they revolve around. That will just fuel the grave. And if you bounce their first monster summon they will just summon rulers. They also run Dragon Shrine/Hieratic Seal Of The Ashes. That will make more and more fodder. They literally would care less if you use this against them. They have really good grind game, unlike the other variants.    Sure, this does hurt some decks. Mostly rogue. But tbh most decks I play, more than likely they won't be rogue. I'm preparing for the top decks, not rogue decks.
No Safe Zone/Vanity's Emptiness Lock:
Well this combo was nice to stop most meta decks, but in all honesty there wasn't many times you can say you've had a fully protected lock. And sometimes you only have one Xyz, which if it's protected with Safe Zone it won't be able to poke the opponent, so you won't be able to win unless you get another xyz/monster to poke with. And Vanity's Emptiness is nice, but situational unless you get Key Beetle which isn't always the best turn one move.
No Mained Effect Veilers:
As much as I'd like to main these, I just didn't feel the absolute need to main them alongside three Fiendish Chain. Which is why I have decided to side them. I side them because it hurts Spellbooks, Geargia, Fire Fists, etcetera.
Mained Dark Armed Dragon:
This card is nice to have, it isn't the most easy monster to summon. But it can be summoned if you know how to play your cards right. We have Kerykeion for easy grave manipulation also.
Three Evilswarm Thunderbird/Evilswarm Mandragora
These cards are really good at three in my eyes. Thunderbird is a really good floater that can get by almost anything. Plus he can stick around on the field until he is needed by his master Ophion (Xyz material). Mandragora is also really good, can easily be summoned sometimes, while being Castor/Kerykeion fodder. Plus if this is dead you can replace it with a Kerykeion via Infestation Infection.
Mained Black Horn Of Heaven:
I personally feel like this is a good meta call. It stops any Xyz's/synchros I could need to get rid of, without having to really worry much at all.
Three Forbidden Dress/Infestation Pandemic:
I personally like both of these at three, they help out a lot. I have also not felt right only running three Ophion targets. Forbidden Dress help again Fire Fists (Bear), Ryko, Snowman Eater (Just an example), etcetera. Another cool thing about it is that it helps beat over certain monsters. But that isn't really a reason for it to be at three though.
Three Mystical Space Typhoon:
This card is pretty good this format, there are a lot of Fire Fist players out there, so with that being said this says no to Tenki, and tells them they do not get to summon another time (Tensu). MST is also pretty good against Harpies, Geargia (To an extent, you won't always want to blind MST vs them though), and some other rogue decks.
Sided Maxx "C":
This card is really good, especially since a lot of decks special summon, e.g. Geargia Karakuri, Hieratic, Mermail, Dual Axis Fire Fists, Harpies, Infernity, etcetera.
Sided Twister:
Good backrow removable, plus it is chainable/usable in your and your opponents turn. Really nice against Fire Fists, Harpies, etcetera. I like this better than Dust Tornado mainly because it is a spell.
Sided Overworked:
This hurts fire fists, which is inherently one of our hardest matchups. So we need some hate against them, and this is really good. They will almost always have a faceup Tenki, Tensu, or Tensen.
Sided DNA Surgery:
Hurts Spellbooks, GeargiaKuri, Bujin, etcetera. which we have a hard time against both. Spellbooks do have ways around this, but this is nice against them. Same with Bujin. This does kind of hurt GeargiaKuri, because it cuts off access to GGX, Burei, and Bureido. Yes I know it isn't the optimal choice against Geargia, but it does help.
Sided Deck Devastation Virus/Eradicator Epidemic Virus
EEV pretty much kills Spellbooks, and it hurts Fire Fists to an extent (No Tenki, Tensu, Rekindling, Gyokkou, or you could call traps.). Can help vs any trap heavy decks or rogue decks. DDV is pretty helpful also, it helps against rogue decks also.
Sided Soul Drain:
This is pretty nice also, helps against Mermail, Bujin, etcetera. This card does help a lot against them. Since stuff like Dragoons, Marksman, Heavy Infantry, and any of the relics (Relics = Bujingi).
Sided Macro Cosmos:
Hurts Bujin, Mermail, Lightsworn, Fire Fists (To an extent), etcetera. This helps with a lot of our matchups, I don't know why this wouldn't be mained/sided it is extremely helpful.
I am looking for your opinions on the deck, I would also like to know what you guys think about maining Kaiser Colosseum? I personally think it would be pretty nice, due to the fact that there are a lot of decks that rely on getting more than just one monster on the field, e.g. Hieratic Ruler, Mermail, Geargia, Karakuri, Dual Axis, Harpies, Infernity, etcetera. I have also though about maining Thunder King Rai-Oh so I could have another standalone monster other than Thunderbird, plus he is pretty good. This is my last Regional of this format, I still have a few ARGCS' I can go to though.   If there are any other things you would like for me to explain just tell me. I tried to explain everything that people could see as "different."
  10. Evilswarm ft. Double Bahamut

The double cyber dragon side is because I'm very afraid of Geargia Karakuri, and the lack of an Emeral is because I'm broke atm and since I'm already buying Ouro, I don't feel like spending another twenty.   Double Baha is too stronk. I'll be using this at the locals I'm heading to once exams are over.
  11. Joining The Darkness - Evilswarm

So this is my current Evilswarm deck. This is for the January 2014 format. This deck has the normal Evilswarm lineup, just some people may not like thunderbird at three in here, but to me it is pretty good. Dark Armed Dragon is a really good card and a game winner, he is pretty easy to summon with all the cards we can use ( Kery, Chain, etc ). I personally feel like Dress and Pandemic will be needed at three come January. Mainly because the main decks will be Prophecy, FF, Bujin, and Mermail. I run mistake over Vanity because it hurts more decks than vanity does. So mistake pretty much comes into the beetle lock in place of Vanity. I also feel EEV is a good meta call. The extra deck is pretty basic, but I only have room for two Ophion. And sorry I have Exciton in there, I hope the mods don't mind, it's just one card. If you would like more explaining feel free to tell me, since I am still relatively new here and am trying to learn the ropes as to say. Feel free to make suggestions, thanks.   17 Monsters: 1x Rescue Rabbit 3x Evilswarm Heliotrope 3x Evilswarm Castor 3x Evilswarm Thunderbird 3x Evilswarm Kerykeion 3x Evilswarm Mandragora 1x Dark Armed Dragon    9 Spells: 3x Infestation Pandemic 2x Forbidden Dress 2x Mystical Space Typhoon 1x Dark Hole 1x Reinforcement of the Army   13 Traps: 2x Mistake 2x Safe Zone 2x Fiendish Chain 2x Mirror Force 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Compulsory Evacuation Device 1x Infestation Infection 1x Eradicator Epidemic Virus 1x Solemn Warning   15 Extra: 3x Evilswarm Ophion 2x Evilswarm Bahamut 1x Evilswarm Ouroboros 1x Evilswarm Nightmare 1x Evilswarm Exciton Knight 2x Number 66: Master Key Beetle 1x Gagaga Cowboy 1x Number 50: Blackship of Corn 1x Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1x Photon Papilloperative 1x Diamond Dire Wolf   15 Side: 3x Effect Veiler 2x Maxx "C"  2x Light-Imprisoning Mirror 2x Overworked 2x Gozen Match 2x Mind Crush 2x Imperial Iron Wall
  12. Ain't No Rest For The Wicked

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnSp9rgfel8   I actually have two Evilswarm builds I want to post and improve today. One of them is based on continuous traps, imperial customs, and magic planter. The other is based on adding summoner monk. They're not particularly teched out for tournaments because I mostly play online. They're set up for generalist devpro environment that includes a lot of rogue decks. Otherwise, I'd definitely run 3x Maxx C and Imperial Iron Wall in the continuous trap deck.   Both decks have their strengths. The continuous trap deck has interesting combos like imperial custom and safe zone/vanity's emptiness. You can also search out infection infestation with Ophion, use the effect, and then draw two cards off of it from Magic Planter. The summoner monk deck has more first turn Master Key Beetle plays and can use monk to summon Kerykeion straight from the deck in the mid-to-late game and use his effect. In addition, monk can also summon a Ketos or Lantern to blow up a troublesome card on the field if necessary.   Evilswarm Deck 1: Magic Planter Continuous Traps         Monster:18 3x Evilswarm Castor 3x Evilswarm Kerykeion 1x Rescue Rabbit 3x Evilswarm Heliotrope 3x Evilswarm Mandragora 1x Evilswarm Thunderbird 1x Evilswarm O'Lantern 1x Evilswarm Ketos 2x Maxx "C"   Spell: 11 1x Dark Hole 1x Book of Moon 1x ROTA 3x MST 2x Pandemic Infestation 3x Magic Planter   Traps: 11 2x Safe Zone 2x Vanity's Emptiness 2x Fiendish Chain 2x Infestation Infection 1x Imperial Customs 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Compulsory Evacuation Device   Extra Deck: 3x Evilswarm Ophion 1x Evilswarm Bahamut 1x Silent Honors Ark Knight (OCG) / Evigishki Merrowgeist (TCG) 1x Evilswarm Ouroboros 1x Blackship of Corn 1x Diamond Dire Wolf 1x Photon Papilloperative 1x Maestroke 1x Master Key Beetle 1x Gem Knight Pearl 1x Gagaga Cowboy 1x Abyss Dweller 1x Noblswarm Beezlebub (OCG) / Additional Master Key Beetle (TCG)   Evilswarm Deck 2: Summoner Monk/Master Key Beetle       Monster:18 3x Evilswarm Castor 3x Evilswarm Kerykeion 1x Rescue Rabbit 3x Evilswarm Heliotrope 3x Evilswarm Mandragora 1x Evilswarm Thunderbird 1x Evilswarm O'Lantern 1x Evilswarm Ketos 2x Summoner Monk   Spell: 13 1x Dark Hole 1x Book of Moon 1x ROTA 3x MST 3x Pandemic Infestation 3x Upstart Goblin 1x Allure of Darkness   Traps: 11 2x Safe Zone 2x Vanity's Emptiness 2x Fiendish Chain 2x Infestation Infection 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Compulsory Evacuation Device 1x Imperial Customs   Extra Deck: 3x Evilswarm Ophion 1x Evilswarm Bahamut 1x Silent Honors Ark Knight (OCG) / Evigishki Merrowgeist (TCG) 1x Evilswarm Ouroboros 1x Blackship of Corn 1x Diamond Dire Wolf 1x Photon Papilloperative 1x Maestroke 1x Master Key Beetle 1x Gem Knight Pearl 1x Gagaga Cowboy 1x Abyss Dweller 1x Noblswarm Beezlebub (OCG) / Additional Master Key Beetle (TCG)
  13. Took Evilswarms to Garden City regionals in MI, exact build I used at the ARG Circuit except I swapped deck dev for a twister in the side deck. Could not get my hands on a 6th sense before the tourney started, which sucked but it was alright because nobody flipped 6th sense on me all day. 340 people total, crowded and stuffy as all hell seriously my least favorite event location. Carpooled with 4 people in the backseat, 2.5 hr ride shit was rough I'm tired as hell. This regs did not even feel like a konami event lol most of the players were garbage and I played vs 6 rogue decks and only 2 dragons. I ended up getting 5th which sucks I really wanted the deckbox but  I'm okay with it I just wanted to get my invite out of the way.    [Round 1] [Evilswarm vs Blackwings] I was doing wager matches vs my friend's blackwings for hours the night before and was pretty familiar with the matchup. My opponent looks at the matchslip and asks me if I was the one that got 2nd at the ARG circuit with evilswarms, I told him I was playing dragons and didn't know what the circuit was. Both robbie khol and my friend were sitting next to me and knew what I was playing, and it was pretty funny. Game 1: Won I won die roll, overpowered him with good cards. Game 2: Won He opened TRIPLE WHIRLWIND bora on me with no backrow, I take his bora with bahamut and swing with both. Next turn he clears my board and summons Armades on me, I endphase mst an icarus (lol)? I top a kerykeion and go into 2nd bahamut for game.    Current record: 1-0   [Round 2] [Evilswarm vs Madolche] I ended up sitting next to my friend playing hieratics who just beat madolches round 1, and this round both of our opponents were playing Madolches LOL. Game 1: Won I won die roll, easily beat him with msts. Game 2: Won He pitches maxx C and banishes it with hootcake, I chain warning. He uses ticket to add anther hootcake to hand, uses double summon. Awkward times ensue when he realizes he banished his only monster in grave already and has no followup.    Current record: 2-0   [Round 3] [Evilswarm vs Evilswarm] Pretty much one of my least favorite mirrors, but my main and side are pretty well suited for it. Game 1: Won I won die roll, open ophion set 2. He opens bahamut, I flip safe zone on my ophion and win from there. Game 2: Won He opens ophion, I open bahamut and take it. Next turn he uses bahamut to take my bahamut and then the ophion. On my next turn I summon 2nd bahamut to steal his bahamut and then the ophion, and he scoops.    Current record: 3-0   [Round 4] [Evilswarm vs Inzektor] I've had a deep hatred for inzektors ever since the format everthing was at 3, because fuck that overpowered shit. Game 1: Won He wins die roll, dumps hornet off Armageddon knight and makes lavalval chain somehow to put dragonfly to top of deck. I beat over chain with helio, and torrential dragonfly on his turn. From then out he doesn't draw into inzektors, and I just beat him down. Game 2: Lost He opens Centipede ladybug and searches sword. I hit him with an overworked that doesn't do much and he otks me with dragonfly gigamantis.   Game 3: Won I open thunderbird set 3, he blind spaces my macro cosmos. I bottomless his centipede and just win with beaters.    Current record: 4-0   [Round 5] [Evilswarm vs Spellbook] Probably the matchup I was worried about most, hadn't played vs spellbooks in tournament for months. Game 1: Won He opens justice to search secrets and priestess. I open rabbit with kerk and hit him with a lot of damage early on, he ends up losing to ophion with pandemic. Game 2: Won He opens crescent into tower, normals kycoo and sets 3. I open ass also and run over kycoo with helio, and mst his tower on his turn. Then I normal another helio and keep beating him down, then get my cowboy fiendished. Next turn I top and mst and chain it to cowboy for game.   Current record: 5-0   [Round 6] [Evilswarm vs Dragon Ruler] First meta matchup all day, I was feeling pretty confident about it. Game 1: Won I think I win the die roll and win with an Ophion open. Can't remember much from games 2 and 3.   Current record: 6-0   [Round 7] [Evilswarm vs Jurracs] I get paired down to someone who is x-0-1 playing Jurracs have no idea how the deck works but figure it out pretty quickly, then proceed to LOSE TO JURRACS. Felt shitty, but I didn't feel too bad because it was pretty much a natural counter to my deck the way he played it with 3x lance, shrink, and dress. Game 1: Lost I lose to guaiba and can't get over laggia. Game 2: Won He sided into decree I think, or else he mained it. I control with infection and ketos, popping his cards and making sure I have no monsters on field whenever he attacks. Late game I diamond dire to set up my grave to drop DAD, and win from there.   Game 3: Lost I held much of the advantage early game, he hits my infection with mst leaving me with a field of maestroke and a live kerykeion on field to his two cards set and none in hand. He tops a monster that lets him summon guaiba from grave, and attacks over kerykeion going into dolkka. I top thunder king and then DAD, and he tops monsters to go into laggia.   Current record: 6-1   [Round 8] [Evilswarm vs Madolche] Madolches are somehow all over the top tables I didn't mind too much but madolches can go off and it's not a matchup I'm 100% confident about. Game 1: Won I win die roll, hit his duality with a refpanel game 1. The first and last time I resolve a refpanel all day. I win from my advantage basically. Game 2: Lost I didn't draw into msts, and he gains heavy advantage with ticket and field spell. I scoop it up when I have 2 cards to his 7+.   Game 3: Won I'm able to control early game with soul drain. He pitches maxx C and banishes it with hootcake, I chain maxx and he goes off to put me down to 900 life points. On my turn I go into king of the feral imps + blackship (to get over zenmaines) with infection set, search out azzathoth and swap for kerykeion. On his turn a monster and passes, I bounce it with ouroboros and attack for game.   Current record: 7-1   [Round 9] [Evilswarm vs Dragon Ruler (Parker Roberson)] I had no idea who Parker was going into this round, or about his stacking business but someone next to me told me he topped a ycs and lots of regionals so I knew he wouldn't be terribad I guess. Was kind of a dick after I won, implying my deck was terribad or something and some other salty shit. Game 1: Won I lose die roll, he opens dracosack with field spell. I don't open an out but I make ophion to search infection, then upstart into a safe zone. I chain safe zone to dracosack next turn, and topdeck a dress to beat over it and he scoops it up. Game 2: Lost He encores my ophion and flips return on his 2nd turn for game.   Game 3: Won I open up something like iron wall, allure, gozen, soul drain, warning with no monsters. Chain soul drain to his 7star, I warning his black rose after he msts my gozen and he hits me for 2800 with blaster. Next turn I top a castor and he flips skill drain. I activate allure and chain iron wall, and he rageki breaks it I think. I'm down in life but I take a risk and just twister his skill drain and pass. He has no grave setup and sets 6th sense and passes, I endphase mst it. On my next turn I top a mandragora and summon both, making him scoop with no outs to Ophion.   Final record: 8-1   I probably missed top 4 because I lost after getting paired down, really wanted the deckbox so it was kind of disappointing but I was happy with top 8. Really weird experience playing vs basically only rogue decks at a regional, and like I said the players weren't exceptional.    Props: -Top 8 -Didn't get 6th sense resolved on me -Beat that cheater Roberson -Didn't go into time -Two of my friends top 16'ed   Slops: -Worst most uncomfortable regionals location -Dead refpanel every match -Lost to JURRACS
  14. Hi guys. This is the deck I'm planning on taking to my regional this weekend. I would appreciate any advice and any suggestions. Main deck: 41 cards Monsters: 21 3x Evilswarm Heliotrope 1x Dark Armed Dragon 3x Evilswarm Castor 3x Evilswarm Kerykeion 3x Evilswarm Mandragora 3x Evilswarm Thunderbird 2x Kagetokage 2x Maxx "c" 1x Rescue Rabbit Spells: 6 1x Dark Hole 2x Infestation Pandemic 2x Mystical Space Typhoon 1x Reinforcement of the Army Traps: 14 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Compulsory Evacuation Device 1x Dimensional Prison 1x Eradicator epidemic virus 2x Fiendish Chain 1x Mirror Force 2x Safe Zone 1x Solemn Warning 1x Torrential Tribute 2x Vanity's Emptiness Extra and Side, see duelingnetwork picture because I'm a lazy bastard ;) Thanks, guys.
  15. EVILSWARM   what is evilswarm?   Storywise, Evilswarm or Verz/Vers/Veruz is a mental virus thing that was carried by the Steelswarm and then released upon the DT World after their destruction, reviving monsters from previous archetypes as twisted evil versions with lots of black beetley shells. Spoiler: they all get absorbed into Constellar Rasalhague, who becomes Evilswarm Kerykeion and kills Sophia with the help of Sombres.   Gameplaywise, Evilswarm is a stun deck that's become popular in the OCG due to its incredible lockdown ability and its relative cheapness in Japan. They are basically Dino Rabbit if Dino Rabbit was an actual archetype, with 1950 monsters everywhere, themed protection, and a variety of Xyz with stunning effects, with the biggest boss being able to say fuck you to the majority of other boss monsters. They are fairly slow but they'll tank through many threats.   IMPORTANT MONSTERS
Evilswarm Kerykeion DARK Level 4 Spellcaster/Effect You can banish 1 "lswarm" monster from your Graveyard to target 1 "lswarm" monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Evilswarm Kerykeion" once per turn. Once per turn, if that effect was activated this turn: You can Normal Summon 1 "lswarm" monster, as an additional Normal Summon. If this card is in your Graveyard because it was sent there this turn, you can Normal Summon 1 "lswarm" monster with 1 less Tribute than required. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) ATK/1600 DEF/1550   So this guy is pretty much the main reason Evilswarm became its own deck rather than a variant of Dino Rabbit. K-ON here should be pretty self-explanatory: it gives you a huge consistency boost and a quick way to make a 1-turn Ophion or whatever else you need after your original setup. The third effect is lackluster, but it can be used in Steelswarms. If you actually run Steelswarms or something. 3 is best for now given how it ties the deck together so well.   Evilswarm Thunderbird DARK Level 4 Thunder/Effect During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated (except during the Damage Step): You can banish this card you control. During the next Standby Phase, return this card banished by this effect to the field, and if you do, it gains 300 ATK. You can only use the effect of "Evilswarm Thunderbird" once per turn. ATK/1650 DEF/1050   Note: the current HA07 print says “YOUR next Standby Phase” while the current OCG text specifies “THE next Standby Phase”.   It's Evilswarm's Wind-Up Rabbit! While we don't have a Wind-Up Factory to take advantage of, this guy does come back to the field with 1950 ATK, getting over common threats like Raioh. Being able to dodge everything on a larger body is incredibly handy for trading advantage as well as keeping a Level 4 on the field to go into an Evilswarm Xyz more easily. Run 2-3, this guy's really good at what he does.   Evilswarm Castor DARK Level 4 Warrior/Effect During the turn this card was Normal Summoned, you can Normal Summon 1 "lswarm" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) ATK/1750 DEF/550 A staple in Evilswarm decks for his ability to churn out Rank 4s quickly and take advantage of otherwise clogged hands. He's also a Warrior which is nice thanks to RotA compatibility. Run 3.   Important note: Castor works like Dodger Dragon. Once he's Normal Summoned and in the clear, his effect can't be stopped. This means that Skill Drain activated after his summon won't hurt him, and neither will Veiler. In other words, smart opponents won't Veiler this guy, and the rest may or may not RQ. Be informed and all that :V   Evilswarm Heliotrope DARK Level 4 Rock .ytilaer a maerd rieht ekam thgim yeht taht os ydob a rof gninraey ,sluos mrawsleetS gniregnil fo sthguoht eht era esehT "!etanimretxE !etacidarE !etanimilE" ATK/1950 DEF/650   3 things: He's a Normal Monster. You want Ophion out fast. You run 3 of these as Rabbit targets. He's 1950. He gets over things Sabersaurus and pals could only suicide with. He's an Evilswarm. In addition to getting you Xyz, you can Pandemic him if he needs to be protected.   Simple, but good. 3 is standard for maximum Rabbit efficiency.   Evilswarm Mandragora DARK Level 4 Plant/Effect If your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). ATK/1550 DEF/1450   Evilswarm's slowpoke method of catching up to your opponent monsterwise or setting up an Xyz on turn 2. It still gets the job done, though, so 2-3 is best.   In addition to these monsters, most Evilswarm decks will run Rescue Rabbit, Effect Veiler, and Dark Armed Dragon.
LESS IMPORTANT MONSTERS
Evilswarm Salamandra DARK Level 4 Dinosaur/Effect Up to twice per turn: You can banish 1 monster from your Graveyard; This card gains 300 ATK until your opponent's next End Phase. ATK/1850 DEF/950   Was a more popular card when Evol-Swarm was the more popular deck, due to its Dinosaur typing and Evilswarm status. While it doesn't see as much play today, it's still a good grave manipulator and is tutorable by Fossil Dig.   Evilswarm O'Lantern/Evilswarm Ketos One tributes itself to kill a face-up monster, one tributes itself to kill a spell/trap. They're not awful, but Normal Summons are still fairly tight in this deck, and using these is a 1-for-1 you won't always want to make. If any, run 1 of each at most for spot removal.
IMPORTANT XYZ MONSTERS
Evilswarm Ophion DARK Rank 4 Dragon/Xyz/Effect 2 Level 4 “lswarm” monsters While this card has Xyz Material, Level 5 or higher monsters cannot be Special Summoned. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; add 1 "Infestation" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. ATK/2550 DEF/1650   This guy is probably the biggest reason Evilswarm is as dominant a force in the OCG as it is. Shutting down Level 5 or higher Special Summons shoots down a fuckton of bosses as well as locking out almost all Synchro Summoning. It even means Gorz won't be able to drop down and ruin your day.   Searching for Infestation S/Ts is also quite good, even though you'll usually be searching for one of two cards. However, one is a large consistency booster/Thunderbird trigger and the other is blanket protection so you can keep on plowing through your opponent's small stuff and keep their Megalos and Priestesses crying in their hand.   Also, being 2550 is good for getting over a number of threats, and your opponent may have trouble getting monsters above that extra 50 points. Use this wisely.   Most decks these days are running 3, so the Ophion party never stops.   Evilswarm Bahamut DARK Rank 4 Dragon/Xyz/Effect 2 Level 4 “lswarm” monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; discard 1 "lswarm" monster, and if you do, take control of that opponent's monster. ATK/2350 DEF/1350   A cool Evilswarm Big Eye of sorts. While he's more limited in his range of targets and it's more costly to do so, you do keep the target permanently and Bahamut can still attack. However, he's not always super useful, so he's better as a one-off in your Extra.   Evilswarm Nightmare DARK Rank 4 Fiend/Xyz/Effect 2 Level 4 DARK monsters When your opponent Special Summons a monster(s): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; change that Special Summoned monster(s) to face-down Defense Position. ATK/950 DEF/1950   A handy dude for slowing down your opponent's Special Summoning if Ophion's not doing the trick. 1950 defense means he's probably going to survive for a turn at least. Of course if you get Ophion AND this guy out, your opponent is gonna be pretty hard pressed to Special Summon anything if they want it to stay alive. Another useful one-off.   Evilswarm Thanatos DARK Rank 4 Fiend/Xyz/Effect 2 Level 4 DARK monsters Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this face-up card is unaffected by other monster effects this turn. ATK/2350 DEF/1350   Kinda the evil counterpart to Constellar Omega, instead of being a walking Lance, he's a walking, uh, monster Lance. The fact that you also run Pandemic means this guy is pretty sturdy if you need sturdiness, but he doesn't directly affect the opponent as Ophion does. Again, a cool one-off.   Evilswarm Ouroboros DARK Rank 4 Dragon/Xyz/Effect 3 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to activate 1 of these effects. Each effect can only be used once while this card is face-up on the field. ● Target 1 card your opponent controls; return that target to the hand. ● Send 1 random card from your opponent's hand to the Graveyard. ● Target 1 card in your opponent's Graveyard; banish that target. ATK/2750 DEF/1950   This guy is one of those cards that's put in pretty much every Extra Deck as a neutered Trishula that's handy for getting rid of things. Obviously he's quite good, but the only extra benefits he has here are from Pandemic, Terminus if you run it, and the fact that he's a Virus target.
SPELLS UND TRAPS
Infestation Pandemic Quick-Play Spell This turn, all face-up "lswarm" monsters you currently control are unaffected by other Spell and Trap Cards.   Fukken Lance-itis. This thing is pretty super cool for obvious reasons. While it doesn't have as myriad applications as Lance itself, it blankets ALL your monsters in cozy AIDS or something which gives it an awesome special niche against field-wipers like Dark Hole, Torrential, and Mirror Force.   It's also searchable by Ophion! Lance on demand! That's really good! I guess Ophion doesn't have too many years left to live ;_; Run 2-3, 2 seems to work best.   Infestation Infection Continuous Trap Once per turn: You can shuffle 1 "lswarm" monster from your hand or face-up on your field into the Deck; add 1 "lswarm" monster from your Deck to your hand.   Not only is this a cool card to throw normal monsters back to deck and grab Kerykeion faster, it's also a free effect activation in case your opponent doesn't play anything to let your Thunderbirds jump out of the way. Usually seen at 1.   Infestation Terminus Trap Target 1 "lswarm" monster you control and 2 cards your opponent controls; banish the first target, and if you do, return the second targets to the hand.   Occasionally seen as a cool tech in some Evilswarm decks, it's nice for clearing a field when you've already got things set up or when your opponent has crucial Extra Deck monsters out.   Other common S/Ts include the usual staples, Forbidden Lance, and post-LTGY, Eradicator Epidemic Virus for dealing with Prophecy (and other ST-reliant decks to an extent).
SAMPLE DECKLISTS
Post-LTGY (OCG), slightly updated for March 2013
Monster 22 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Kerykeion 3 Evilswarm Mandragora 3 Effect Veiler 2 Evilswarm Thunderbird 2 Rescue Rabbit 2 D.D. This is the biggest thing that FFs have going for them against this deck, as it completely cuts down Ophion's tanking capabilities and Castor and Kerykeion's swarming capabilities, and prevents you from going Bahamut on their asses as they'll still have the ATK needed to kill you. This in turn ironically means that the more raw removal said FF build runs, the more easily you can just rip straight through them with Lance/Infestation spam. A Level 3 variation(assuming Chicken's legal in your area) is a fairly decent matchup, as you shut down their Horse plays and can make quick work of their Spells/Traps with an EEV. Just watch out for the Xyz and the Bears. Mermail: Teus/Tidal/Megalo are shut down fairly easily, as are Gungnir and Dewloren. The question, is obviously whether or not you can hold your own against their Atlanteans. This is why you use Dress, Safe Zone, Soul Drain, DDV and the likes to take them out as soon as you get the chance. Just keep pushing with Ophions. Prophecy: Get Ophion or EEV/Safe Zone/Veiler early, and the game's yours. Fail to do so, and you have to do some dancing. Generally favorable due to the ability to rush with Kery/Castor shenanigns on turn two, make sure you have a way to keep Lily out of the picture. Constellar: Bear and Pleiades rape you to hell and back. Beehive rapes you to hell and back. You obviously want to keep Breakthrough Skill or Fiendish Chain to stop their advances. Preferably the former for flexibility. DW: Ophion, EEV, protection. E-Dragons: Good matchup with protection. Same basic principle as DWs. Protect, then rip, if your opponent does something fishy EEV the fuck out of him and try to stay alive for a counterattack next turn. Wind-Ups: Average match-up. You don't have anything particularly good against them, but you don't have anything particularly bad due to your generally higher ATK. If you can rush them, do so. If you can DDV, even better. Veiler/Fiendish/Breakthrough them at the right time and you should be able to push quickly enough to dominate.   I'll give you Dragunity and Laval shit later. Oh, and the BK matchup is fucking horrible. Potentially worse than the FF matchup, even.   Shit you should be running in the side: Gozen Match(Shuts down Wind-Ups, locks out most Xyz that can kill Ophion, utterly ruins E-Dragons), Soul Drain/D-Fissure/Macro(E-Dragons, DW, Lavals, Dragunity, Mermails, etc. I suggest Soul Drain, personally, as it gives Kery more freedom).   Shit you should probably be running in main/side: Some sort of combination of Dress, Lance, Safe-Zone, Xyz Reborn, EEV, DDV, Breakthrough Skill, Veiler, Fiendish Chain, Compulsory, Mind Crush. Lance makes the FF matchup bearable, strengthens your advances. Dress makes destruction rampant matchups bearable, strengthens your advances. Safe Zone lets you cockblock shit to hell and back. Xyz Reborn functions similarly to Safe Zone in terms of tanking bonuses, but with more flexibility late game. Revive a dead Ophion/Bahamut, keep advancing. Fiendish Chain/Veiler/Skill takes out anything effect-oriented that could give you hell. Breakthrough Skill will prove especially useful in applying constant pressure on a variety of monsters on YOUR turn. Compulsory takes out Xyz bosses, nuff said. Mind Crush is ridic with all the searching, and pairs very well with the viruses. Virus + Crush will take out a large chunk of their hand and render them immobile.
Thunderbird will always come back as will survivor, Macro is the key to this deck.  Side Deck is in the works as is extra.
  18.   So I was thinking back to the time when Joe Giorlando first popularized siding this card when going first in Dino Rabbit, and I feel that many of same reasons why he ran it then are still applicable today.    Tthe first deck that comes to mind is Evilswarm. If you have only one monster out, you opponent can't play Rescue Rabbit, Tour Guide, Deep Sea Diva, and cannot XYZ or Synchro Summon over it. With all the other protection you run for Ophion, it is pretty difficult to defeat. Without Tentempo, Bahamut, Pearl, Maestroke (for Ophion), or Big Eye, Dracossack (in general) your opponent's options are pretty limited.   Obviously Master Key Beetle + Vanity's Emptiness does something similar, but we aren't getting that till JotL in August.   Even something like Tour Guide -> Leviathan Dragon or Windup Zenmaines can be very hard to deal with, if you can't play Tentempo or Blackship of Corn. Also 1950 ATK/DEF as in the case of Heliotrope or Azzathoth is sizeable as well.   If you play Windup Rabbit, the fact that you can Banish it in Standby Phase, plus the fact that is so hard to kill, makes it really good with Kaiser.   Also Neo Spacian Grand Mole has a pretty dirty soft lock with Kaiser. It lets you eliminate their one monster, without increasing the number of monsters that you control, so they are still restricted to one monster. It lets you make pushes while locking them down.    Thoughts?
  19. Ygo nats 2013

After a series of events that put us 4 hours behind schedule I finally get picked up by Josh, Paul, Tyler and Abbas. We stop at a truck stop in the middle of Missouri and they say that they have a cafe that serves breakfast, Paul being the ratchet that he is he buys it. For $5 he got eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy, clearly the food is going to be awful because it is purchased at a truckstop and indeed it is. Within a mere matter of minutes Paul has to take a shit. Abbas can't eat because of Ramadan and Paul tries his hardest to eat in front of him as much as possible. Josh has road rage as usual and Tyler gets auto shotgun because of his back problems as usual. Of course we are all ripping on each other and having a good time while being in the constant traffic jam of the Chicago area. For about an hour we struggle to find the Pier but eventually we do.  I get to the convention center and pick up the rest of the stuff I need and meet fellow dgzers and just kind of bs for the rest of the day. On the way to the hotel (that was extremely hyped up) Josh informs us that we do not have the suite that he had told us about for months, it is a room with 1 bed and a fold out couch. Pics of the suite we were supposed to have:

So yeah we were disappointed that our room was nowhere near what it was supposed to be but fuck it. Paul puts together dragons for the first time with minimal testing, Tyler borrows spellbooks with minimal testing, Josh borrows evilswarm with literally 0 testing (he also has never played vs dragons or books before), and Abbas and I play evilswarm with lots of testing.   Saturday comes and we eat breakfast and we get a cab to the pier, I find $20 in the cab so I know the day is going to be a good one. We get there and register and the tourny starts.   Round 1 vs Dragon Rulers, I know him from locals. Lost the dice roll Game 1: He goes first and opens double dracossack and a backrow. I draw, play upstart (opened 0 monsters) set a backrow and passed. He draws and heavies. I scoop and say that I opened without a magician or secrets and I drew all my dead books.   Game 2: I open ophion and a mind drain. He scoops and said that he sided for books. (this is not the first time I do this  B} )   Game 3: He opens 2 dracossack and 2 tokens (not 3). I go castor summon another swing at both tokens then go ophion pandemic dark hole. Set compulsory. He has blaster for ophion and I compulse a dracossack. I win a few turns later   1-0   Round 2 vs Dragon rulers. Lost the dice roll Game 1: He opens Dracossack and a blaster. I draw set 2 pass. He puts 8k on board and I scoop saying that I can never open secrets.    Game 2: I open Ophion and a safe zone and he shows a hand of eev and droll. heh   Game 3: He opens dracossack. I summon 2 guys attack the tokens make ophion set compulsory, warning and dress. I compulsory the dracossack and have dress for his blaster and warning for the tsuk   2-0   Round 3 vs Dragon Rulers. Won the dice roll Game 1: I make ophion and set safe zone. I safe zone his blaster pop and win   Game 2: He sarcs blaster to search blaster and passes. I rabbit into 2 guys swing and make ophion and set dress. Dress his blaster and he passes. I draw swing with ophion and thunderbird and pass. He t sets and passes. I swing with both and he flips skill drain on his turn I chained pandemic and he scooped because he couldn't take any more attacks   3-0   Round 4 vs Spellbooks. Won the dice roll Game 1: I open ophion and eev, hit a lot of spells and he can't recover.   Game 2: He judgments for 3 and sets 2. I summon 2 guys and swing on the magician and jowgen then make ophion and set eev and pandemic. I go to eev after he searches with magician and he dark bribes. I lose   Game 3: I summon thunderbird and set some backrow. I droll him when he searches master and it leaves him with a dead hand. He bricks his next 2 draws and loses   4-0   Round 5 vs Spellbooks. Lost the dice roll Game 1: He judgments for 3 and we get into a grind. I make some misplays and he forgets to tower a couple times but I get too far behind on cards and lose.   Game 2: We grind for awhile until I can get to an eev and win   Game 3: We are grinding for awhile and we both get really low but I didn't see eev or droll so I am too far down on card advantage and lose.   4-1   Round 6 vs Spellbooks. Won the dice roll. Vincent Pagila  I win both games very quickly with eev and he drew completely dead both games.   5-1   Round 7 vs Spellbooks. Lost the dice roll. Brandon Ball Game 1: He resolves judgment for 8, I get rolled   Game 2: I open with a ophion and a set pandemic and infestation. He plays judgment then heavies and gets a bunch of advantage. I draw can't really do anything and he kills me next turn.   5-2   Round 8 vs Dragon Rulers. Lost the dice roll Game 1: He makes turn 1 dracossck. I clear it and have safe zone for ophion Game 2: He opens dracossack and 2 tokens with a backrow. I draw, play dark hole, special mandragora, rabbit into 2 normals then electric virus the dracossack, go to swing for game and he scarecrows -__-. I make 2 tokens and like the genius that I am I tribute a token to pop the backrow instead of tributing the dracossack. Then I make ophion and set some backrow. I compulse the dracossack and have protection for ophion and win   6-2 Finished day 1 in like 137th place   We wake up and Tyler, George ( a friend of Paul) and I go to get a cab to go to day 2. Abbas went 5-3, Josh went like 2-3-1 and Paul went 1-3-1. Paul's 1 win was from an opponent who didn't show up. When leaving to get the cab we run into the guy who won San Diego, I ask if he wants to split the cab with us and he says sure. I didn't find money in the cab this time but we get there right on time for round 9.   Round 9 vs Constellar, AJ Jones GODFUCKINGDAMNITSONOFAFUCKINGBITCH. Lost the dice roll Game 0: The clock starts going and he sets 3 and passes. I Have heavy rain for the +2 and it resolves! Right before I go to summon a judge walks by and asks what we are doing. We say that the clock started and we began play, he says that they didn't announce the round to start and the clock must've accidentally started. He makes us shuffle up and wait for the round to officially start. I FUCKING HATE EVERYTHING   Game 1: He sets 1 and passes I summon rabbit and he flips Imperial Iron Wall. Next turn has the rank 5 guy and I lose   Game 2: I win Idk how but I did. This matchup is awful. I devoted 1 side spot to light mirror in case I ran into it  but I obviously didn't draw it during the match against him.   Game 3: He goes t king backrow pass. I rabbit into 2 normals and he has honest. He follows up with the castor guy and the level up guy and I lose   6-3, I marked drop and go to enter a battle pack sealed thing. I packed a cardcar but literally 0 spells. I make it to the finals and lose to a guy who had premature, reborn, graceful and other good ones. Apperently they didn't drop me and round 10 Wiggles had to play me but since I wasn't there he had to wait for 10 minutes. Sorry       I chill with people for the rest of the day, explore the pier, look at all the fine women and had a good time.    Congrats to Hoban with a well deserved win and Rapture with a spot at worlds.   3 Heliotrope 3 Castor 3 Mandragora 3 Kerykeion 3 Thunderbird 2 Rabbit   3 Pandemic  3 Upstart 2 Dress 1 Rota 1 Dark Hole 1 Heavy Rain 1 Monster Reborn   3 Safe Zone 3 Compulsory 2 EEV 1 Infection 1 Solemn 1 Warning   3 Droll 1 Electric Virus 3 Space Typhoon 2 Gozen 2 Mind Drain 2 Black Horn of Heaven 1 EEV 1 Light mirror

I always set up ophion then support him with my back row. Its a bit of an unconventional deck but the anti meta aspect really tackles this format head on, and especially for nats or a regional where alot of people run dragons/prophecy it is helpful to have these cards mained.  Thank you for looking, any and all help is appreciated

  23. Dinoswarm

I'm playing IRL again so I bought this deck, I love it.   Monsters: 20   3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Thunderbird 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 2 Evilswarm Mandrago 1 Evilswarm Kerkyion 2 Rescue Rabbit 2 Tour Guide From the Underworld 1 Dark Armed Dragon 3 Sabersaurus   Spells:6   3 Infestation Pandemic 1 Dark Hole 1 Reinforcement of the Army 1 Allure of Darkness   Traps: 14   2 Mirror Force 2 Torrential Tribute 1 Solemn Judgment 1 Solemn Warning 2 Bottomless Trap Hole 2 Macro Cosmos 1 Vanities Emptiness 1 Starlight Road 2 Fiendish Chain   Extra: 15   The appropriate xyz and Stardust   I decided to use Saber for fun because i picked up a Dolkka and Laggia, so I figured I'd try it. It works very well, it's pretty standard other than that. I also tech one Vanity because it's pretty good with  Cosmos on board,  not to mention you can chain it to reborn our tour guide, etc. I decided to go with 2 mained cosmos because of dragons and mermails, I suppose it could hurt spellbooks too? idk i just  got back into the game. Anyways lmk what you think, thanks
  24. Frederick Regional

I walk into the Holiday Inn at 9:10 expecting to have to wait in line for an hour before I get registered. Fortunately there is basically no line, and I'm registered in no time. I then find my friend who got there at 7:45 and was convinced that he had to arrive that early to get in. I get an ultimate Hamstrat from my entry pack and soon it's time to go. I'm running Evilswarm since I can't afford Dragons or Prophecy and Evilswarm were a pretty clear third choice for me.    Monsters: 19 1 Evilswarm Azzathoth 3 Evilswarm Mandragora 3 Evilswarm Kerykeion 3 Evilswarm Castor 3 Evilswarm Heliotrope 2 Rescue Rabbit 3 Maxx "C" 1 Effect Veiler   Spells: 10 3 Infestation Pandemic 3 Forbidden Dress 1 Dark Hole 1 Heavy Storm 1 Monster Reborn 1 Reinforcement of the Army   Traps: 11 3 Compulsory Evacuation Device 3 Safe Zone 2 Torrential Tribute 1 Solemn Judgment 1 Solemn Warning 1 Infestation Infection   Extra Deck: 15 1 Gagaga Cowboy 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn 1 Diamond Dire Wolf 1 Number 50: Blackship of Corn 1 King of the Feral Imps 1 Gem-Knight Pearl 1 Number 16: Shock Master 1 Evilswarm Nightmare 1 Evilswarm Thanatos 1 Evilswarm Bahamut 3 Evilswarm Ophion 1 Evilswarm Ouroboros   Side Deck: 2 Effect Veiler 1 Evilswarm Azzathoth 3 Dimensional Fissure 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 3 Imperial Iron Wall   My basic sides against the big 4 were:   Dragon Ruler: Out: 1 Evilswarm Azzathoth 1 Infestation Pandemic 1 Heavy Storm 1 Infestation Infection   In:  1 Effect Veiler 3 Imperial Iron Wall   I really didn't want to side Veiler in against this deck, let alone keep the mained one I have in, but Tsukuyomi is too popular in the side to not side Veiler.   Prophecy: Out: 1 Evilswarm Azzathoth 3 Maxx "C" 1 Infestation Pandemic 1 Dark Hole 3 Compulsory Evacuation Device 2 Torrential Tribute   In: 2 Effect Veiler 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 3 Imperial Iron Wall   Not sure if it was good to keep the Infection in over the third Pandemic since I couldn't use Kerykeion and Pandemic sort of plays around Fate.    Evilswarm: Out: 3 Maxx "C" 1 Dark Hole 2 Torrential Tribute   In: 2 Effect Veiler 1 Evilswarm Azzathoth 3 Eradicator Epidemic Virus   Mermail: Out: 1 Evilswarm Azzathoth 1 Infestation Pandemic 1 Heavy Storm   In: 3 Dimensional Fissure   Against the one Mermail guy I played, he sided in 5 cards so I also sided out my one Veiler for a Mystical Space Typhoon.   Pretty much the only notable choices are the mained Evilswarm Azzathoth and the three-one Maxx "C"-Effect Veiler. I felt like I had to play at least 13 Evilswarms for Bahamut and a more consistent Ophion. Thunderbird has been ass for me so far. It never really did anything when I summoned it. Azzathoth was by far the most attractive choice because I could loop it with King of the Feral Imps and Infestation Infection to search two Kerykeion. Especially in the mirror, that is a blowout. It came up in two of my three Evilswarm matches and I am quite happy with the choice.   As for the Maxx "C" and Veiler count, Maxx "C" is better against Mermails and Dragon Ruler while Veiler is better against the mirror and Prophecy. I was expecting a lot of Dragon Ruler and didn't think the game one against Prophecy was worth trying to win, so playing three Maxx "C" and one Veiler seemed like the logical choice.    Round 1: Evilswarm Game 1: I don't remember this game well. I remember I got two searches off of my Ophion and eventually I just won because my Infestation Infection let me reach more Kerykeions than he did. At one point in the game he used Xyz Reborn on his Ophion but didn't use Ophion's effect to search a card.   Game 2: He opened Rabbit and I Veilered. My turn I Heavied his one back row and went my own Rabbit into Ophion with an Eradicator set. I never ended up using the Eradicator though, I just kept attacking with Ophion and he couldn't do anything. On his last turn before I attacked for game he randomly flipped Fiendish Chain on my Ophion and passed. My turn I obviously Pandemiced and swung for game.   1-0   Round 2: T.G. Game 1: He won the die roll. He Dualityed for a Bottomless, summoned a Fossil Dyna, and set three. I summoned Castor, he Bottomlessed. I summoned a Heliotrope, attacked, and he Mirror Forced. He Solemn Judgmented the second Castor I summoned, and eventually I summoned a Kerykeion with a Pandemic and took control of the game. At one point he survived by Call of the Haunteding his Barbaros after I ran over it. When he attacked my Ophion I Safe Zoned it. After a few turns of a deadlock I drew a Dress, summoned a Kerykeion, and attacked over Barbaros with Ophion + Dress and then swung for game with Kerykeion.   Game 2: I counted his deck for game 2 and it was 40 cards when he had 41 cards game 1. For some reason I let him put the 16th card from his side deck into his main deck and promise to suicide myself if I lose. He opens Dyna set three, and when I get rid of the first Dyna he summons a second and Safe Zones it. I lose pretty quickly.   Game 3: I opened Rabbit, Eradicator, and an Evilswarm. I go Rabbit for Ophion get Infection, set Infection and Eradicator. He goes Barbaros set 4. End phase I Eradicator my Ophion and hit all 4 of the traps he set. I switch out my Evilswarm for Kerykion, make an Ophion and attack over Barbaros. Next turn I switch out another Evilswarm for Kerykeion and win.    2-0   Round 3: Spellbook I'm pretty sure I only win this match because he is really bad. Game 1: I win the die roll and make a first turn Ophion. He summons Justice, I Torrential, he lets it go through, and I chain Pandemic. He activated Spellbook of Judgment then Reborn his Justice. He plays a Tower I think and passes. During the end phase he was forgetting his Judgment special summon, so I asked him if he wanted to summon something and he says oh right. He summons a Magician in defense mode and I draw a second card off Maxx "C". My turn I detach the second material off Ophion and go Kerykeion -> Castor -> another Evilswarm, attack with everything and Shock Master him. His turn he reveals for one Priestess, which  I Solemn Warning. He summons a second Priestess and blows up my Ophion and passes. I guess the Shock Master is not a problem, though I had the Safe Zone anyway. My turn I summon Castor, Dress Priestess, attack over it with Shock Master, then attack for game with Castor.    Game 2: He first turn Magician's and I Veiler. He just passes from there. My turn I Castor + Kerykeion him and swing for 2850. I make Ophion, and set Iron Wall and something else. He gets a lot of cards off Judgment and special summons a Justice off Judgment Day. He tries to remove but there is an Iron Wall on the field. My turn I summon a Heliotrope, attack over Justice, and attack for 2550. On his turn he plays a bunch of spell cards but his play amounts to a Tsukuyomi + Power to get over my Ophion. In the end phase he bounces his Tsukuyomi and doesn't summon anything off Judgment. Next turn I summon a Castor and attack with both. He doesn't realize it's game, and he loses.    So yeah, not sure I could have won this if he played properly.   3-0   Round 4: Mermail Game 1: I make an Ophion and he can't really do anything. I think I put either a second Ophion or an Abyss Dweller on the field.   Game 2: He sets a monster and passes. I go Castor, Heliotrope, and Dimensional Fissure and run over a Linde. I keep attacking with Ophion against his two backrows. Eventually he flips an Iron Wall and summons an Abysspike, discarding Marksman to target my set MST. I chain it on his set, thinking that it was probably a Sphere and that he was going to go Bahamut Shark. I had a Maxx "C" in hand to chain, so if he did go for it I would have gotten three draws this way instead of two. It turns out it was a Heavy Storm. I attack over the Abysspike next turn and even though he has the Iron Wall he can't get past Ophion. The last turn I make a really bad misplay which involved me detaching the second material off Ophion in order to make a Kerykion play, but he had Imperial Iron Wall face-up. I was seething after that, but his set card didn't do anything and it was game that turn. I was determined to not make another stupid misplay like that, but unfortunately that didn't happen.   4-0   Round 5: Evilswarm Game 1: He opens Heliotrope and two sets. I have a Maxx "C' and four spell/traps. I set three and end. He summons a Mandragora and overlays for Ophion. I Solemn Warning. My turn I draw a Kerykeion and pass. He summons his own Kerykeion, activates its effect, and I Maxx "C". He overlays for Ophion and I draw a Mandragora. I Compulsory his Ophion, and he chains... Forbidden Dress. I tell him that doesn't work. I don't remember what happened after that but I know I eventually hit a way to make an Xyz and then make another one after that with Kerykeion and win.   Game 2: He doesn't open any Xyz and we both stalemate for a while. I eventually make an Ophion with Eradicator. When he Maestrokes my Ophion I chain Eradicator and hit two traps. He attacks for 1800. I draw and pass. Next turn he summons a Rai-Oh, which I Warning. He attacks with Maestroke and I Compulse it. My turn I draw an Evilswarm and trade it for Kerykeion with Infection, I attack with my monsters and make King of the Feral Imps mp2. I get an Azzathoth, and next turn he doesn't do anything. I switch the Azzathoth for Kerykeion in his end phase, and then search Azzathoth on my turn. I summon Kerykeion, get back a Heliotrope and switch it with something else to make a top-decked Rabbit live. He doesn't draw anything though and the successive Kerykeions win me the game.    5-0   Round 6: Evilswarm Game 1: I make an Ophion and search out Infection. He makes his own Ophion and attacks into mine. He activates Dress on my Ophion and I chain my own Dress on his. My turn I summon Kerykeion and he Warnings it. On his turn he Reborns Kerykeion, gets back a Heliotrope, attacks with both, and passes. I make a Bahamut backed by a Pandemic to try to take my Kerykeion back. Turns out he set something else instead of the Safe Zone in his hand, so it went through. I was about to win the game with an Ophion + Bahamut + Warning to his topdecking... and a repair gets called.    Round 6: Prophecy Game 1: When I count his deck it's 41, and I tell him about how the Prophecy guy I played earlier played 41 cards with Upstart Goblin. He gives out this nervous laugh and wins the die roll. He goes Magician get Judgment. Activate Judgment, and then activate Upstart Goblin. Oh_the_Irony. He gets to four spellbooks and demolishes me.   Game 2: I open Heliotrope, two set Iron Wall, and a set Safe Zone. My reasoning on setting both Iron Wall was that I would lose to Heavy Storm anyway since he could just chain Fate to the second Iron Wall if I waited and I did not want to lose to MST. He has the Heavy and Judgments for three. He ends with a set Fate and a Magician on the field to my in hand Mandragora and Kerykeion. I needed to draw the Eradicator to win, but I draw a second Mandragora and lose.   5-1   Round 7: Six Samurai This is easily the worst I played all day, I feel so bad about this match. Game 1: He opens United and Gateway and ends with Shi En, Shock Master calling spells, a Grandmaster and two sets. My turn I summon a Bahamut and take his Shi En, I run over his Grandmaster and Shock Master and pass. His turn he goes Smoke Signal and Dojo, and eventually makes a Scrap Dragon which I Solemn. I didn't negate either of those spells since it seemed like he had a Double Edged he was trying to resolve. He ends with Gateway and three set cards. My turn I draw a Rota with no other Evilswarm and attack with Bahamut. He Mirror Forces and chains Chalice on Shi En when I try to negate. On his turn he flips his Double-Edged Sword Technique and attacks for game.    Game 2: I summon an Ophion and he never really gets rid of it. At one point he runs Grandmaster into my Ophion and Chalices his Grandmaster, thinking it would get over. It doesn't and he loses from there.    Game 3: He opens with a set monster. My turn I make an Ophion and he does something to get rid of it. He goes Smoke Signal to get Spirit, and summons Spirit and Grandmaster, equips Spirit, and swing for 2600. On my turn I Kerykeion into Maestroke, flip his Grandmaster, and attack. He summons a Zanji and Reborns a Grandmaster. He attacks Maestroke with Grandmaster, and I Safe Zone my Maestroke. He asks if Zanji's effect to destroy a card targets, I tell him it doesn't. He calls a judge over and asks the same thing, and the judge tells him he has to make the move first. He attacks with Zanji into my Maestroke, and his Zanji dies. On my turn I flip the Grandmaster and attack over it. The turn after I attack his set, which is a Fossil Dyna. I make an Ophion but forget to MST his backrow like a dumbass and he Solemns it. On his turn he makes a Mist Wurm to bounce by Safe Zone and attacks for 2500. I draw a Compulse and set it, MST, and Safe Zone. He draws a Kizan and attacks with Kizan. I Safe Zone Kizan then MST my Safe Zone. I Compulse his Mist Wurm and I eventually draw into an Evilswarm to trade for Kerykeion and attack for 3350 before making a Cowboy for game.    The Spellbook guy I beat earlier is playing against Dragons next to me. They are in time, and he is against a Light and Darkness Dragon. His series of plays involve activating two Spellbook of Fates in one turn to get rid of the Ladd. When that doesn't work he flips his Decree and chains Spellbook of Fate, except he doesn't have a spellcaster on the field. For some reason they keep the Decree on the field even though Ladd should have negated it. Later on he flips a Waboku in the last turn of time, but it gets negated by his own Decree, and he loses. I'm not sure what the Decree was doing in their against Dragons, but some people are just visionaries I guess.    6-1   Round 8: Dragon Ruler Game 1: I make an Ophion, and when he Blasters it I Safe Zone Ophion. He uses Reborn and a Baby Dragon to make a rank 4, and for a second I am terrified he runs Diamond Dire Wolf, but he makes a Maestroke and realizes his mistake. I make a second Ophion and win from there.   Game 2: He makes a turn one Dracossack. I summon two Evilswarms and attack his tokens, then I make Ophion and set three. He uses Dracossacks effect to special tokens, and I Warning him. I flip an Imperial Iron Wall soon after. At some point he Electric Viruses my Ophion but doesn't detach the material, he just attacks and ends. He hangs on for a while but can't really do anything. I make another Iron Wall misplay though. I am attacking for game and he Return from the Different Dimensions to get back a Baby Dragon to live. I leave the Baby to get banished, but of course I have Iron Wall on the field and I feel doubly bad. On his turn he draws a dead card and I attack for game the next turn.    7-1   Round 9: Evilswarm This guy was really unpleasant. Whenever I made a play he would say I don't care about that and would just assume I was making plays and would get really angry whenever I thought about my plays. He also tried to remove Thunderbird when I summoned a card with Castor and I was pretty sure he knew it didn't cause a chain.  Game 1: He sets a monster and two spell/traps. I knew he was playing Evilswarm, so I summoned a Heliotrope and attacked his set. It was a Fossil Dyna. He gets rid of Heliotrope and eventually Reborns his Dyna. Prior to this he plays two Dark Illusions, one on my Safe Zone and one on my Compulse. I summon Kerykeion and attack Dyna. He summons a Thunderbird and attacks Kerykeion, and I Infection it for a Castor. On my turn I draw Mandragora. I summon Castor and attack his Thunderbird. Main phase two I summon Mandragora and make King of the Feral Imps. I search out Azzathoth and end. He doesn't do anything on his turn and I switch the Azzathoth for Kerykeion and search it out again. The next turn he draws Kerykeion and summons and Ophion to attack over my King. On my turn I go into Bahamut to take his Ophion and win from there.    Game 2: He opens a Thunderbird. My hand is Rabbit and Reinforcements of the Army, so I don't have a way to get over his Thunderbird. I go into Heliotrope, attack for 3900, set two, and make Nightmare. He was goading me into making an Ophion so it seemed pretty obvious to me that he had Heavy Storm and was going to Bahamut me. I set two which was really bad, since I had a Warning and so I could have set just that or set just one other card since it seemed like he would Heavy no matter what. He special summons a Mandragora and I don't flip it for some reason. He goes into Thanatos and has an answer for my Kerykeion next turn and I lose.   Game 3: I open Ophion, Infection, and Eradicator. He Heavies and I chain Eradicator calling traps, and chain Infection to switch an Azzathoth for a Kerykeion. I hit three traps and leave him with Pandemic and Mandragora. He summons the Mandragora and attacks for 1550. I summon Kerykeion and make another Ophion. On his turn he draws an Electric Virus and uses it on my Ophion. I use a second Eradicator and call spells. My turn I summon another Kerykeion and make a Gem-Knight Pearl. His turn he draws a Mandragora and I win the next turn.    8-1   I get 5th place after swiss. In the top 4, I lose a close match for the deckbox. Game 1 my opponent starts and opens a five. I get a one and get stomped on. Game 2 I decide I don't actually need to go first and I let him have the opening. He gets a one to which I promptly roll a five. Game 3 my opponent decides not to return the favor of letting him go first last game, and he opens. He rolls a 4, and my 3 just didn't get me there.    I learn we get 18 packs, and I pull a Sombre, the Noble Knight ultra, the Plane spell card, a Channeler, a Coyote, a Hysteric Sign, a Tidal, a Blaster, and a Judgment.   I think I made way too many misplays throughout the tournament but luckily for me they were all in situations where I didn't actually get punished. I'm happy for the top but I feel like I didn't play well enough. As for my list I don't think I would change anything. Possibly switching the second Azzathoth in the side deck for something else since I never actually set it, but it lets me get the full value out of my King of the Feral Imps without having to cycle the first one with Infection, and having another Evilswarm is generally good in the mirror.   Thanks for reading.
