Pretty Important for making Great Tornado and Gaia Neos Engine The Dark Hex Sealed Fusion Elemental Hero Neos E-HERO Neos Alius x2 Neo Spacian Air Humming Bird Neo Spacian Grand Mole Keeper of Dragon Magic I know it seems pretty bad. I mean I don't even run Panther but they synergize pretty well with my other HERO's. Neos And Alias are searchable by Stratos/Decider, Grand Mole is decent removal and Humming Bird summons the fusion. Plus Dark sealed can work for any fusion and Dragon Magic can discard Miracle Fusioon. You see. Synergy. Destiny Hero Dynatag: Honestly I'm thinking of chainging this one. Who should I replace him with. Skydive Scorcher: They work well with Gaia, Great Tronado, and the Neos Fusions. Mudragon of the Swam: Don't really summon him, should I replace him. Fusion Tag: Can summon Contrast Hero Choas pretty easy. Crush Card Virus/ Sangan: Crush card can work with both Shadow Mist and Summoner Monk and Sangan is a good combo with it. Hero Signal/ Destiny Signal: Summon Mist/Decider/Stratos. E-Hero Gaia/ E Hero Great Tornado: Fusion. Use Miracle or Regular Poly. Synergizes with Neos Masked Hero Dark Law: You only really need one of them. Deck that it kills don't have any real outs and if it isn't a deck it kills it can be easily revived. 2. Hey everyone, so I finally got my first top this weekend at ARG Atlantic City. I am now a freshman in college (art college if that counts) and haven’t been playing much IRL yugioh. My last event was ARG Edison, where I died in the main event playing nekroz. I also have had almost no experience with ARG format, given I just grind on DN so there’s no point to test ARG. That leads me to my choice of deck for the event, Heroes.   I have been playing nekroz for the past 3 months with mixed results. The deck has a lot of contradictions, and as well as me not having perfect technical play, I never felt I had an “edge” over any other deck. Infernoid seemed like an inconsistent pile of trash, shaddolls lost to too many cards and brick hands, and BA was underpowered with 1 cir 2 dante. I guess I realized how unfair dark law really was at a point about a month ago, so whenever I got bored in warring on DNF I’d just use that since you rack up free wins because nobody expects it, not to mention how insane durendal is. Durendal dark law is such a powerful board especially when you make it with a 3-mat ptolemaios, they usually can’t win.   After deciding on heroes on probably the Tuesday before the event, I went back and forth with artifacts. Ryan Levine (the eventual winner of the event) was making the deck with me, but we were playing cards like call of the haunted and breakthrough skill, which I changed before the event. Before I go any further, here’s the list:   Main Deck: 2 Elemental Hero Shadow Mist 3 Artifact Moraltach 2 Elemental Hero Bubbleman 2 Summoner Monk 1 Elemental Hero Stratos 1 Goblindbergh 1 Artifact Beaglltach 3 Upstart Goblin 3 A Hero Lives 3 Artifact Ignition 3 Mask Change 3 Reinforcement of the Army 2 Mask Charge 1 Instant Fusion 3 Mirror Force 3 Fiendish Chain 3 Artifact Sanctum 1 Solemn Warning   Side Deck: 1 Artifact Scythe 1 Artifact Lancea 1 Elemental Hero Prisma 1 Cyber Dragon 3 Mind Crush 3 Forbidden Lance 1 Space Mambo 1 Thunder King Rai-Oh 1 Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare 1 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 black horn of heaven   The list was fairly standard. I did pretty much no playtesting for this event. On the drive down, my friend and teammate Nicky Reardon said that artifacts are good vs established boards, which is something this deck has a problem with. Not to mention they’re obviously free plusses when you have a durendal on board. Also, maining essentially engine spot removal helps in almost every matchup. No third shadow mist because getting to it wasn’t a problem, the biggest problem with this deck was drawing more than 2 monsters per hand. To solve this I played the most minimal monster line-up I could.   I also played 0 recovery cards like call of the haunted, and soul charge because if they get over your board you’re usually doing something wrong in the first place. I did however play 2 copies of mask charge, because unlike COTH, this can extend combos by adding another bubbleman, a stratos to make another rank 4, or being able to dark law them twice in one turn.     Mirror force, and fiendish chain basically stopped dark law and durendal from getting killed by monsters greater than 2400. Additionally, several times throughout the tournament, I used Pleiades to bounce a fiendish chain on a monster making it effectively a 2500 giant hand. Mirror force is also obviously nuts in this deck since you banish their whole life, as well as them usually not pre-emptively popping set cards because of the threat of hitting a moralltach, or even worse, a sanctum.     3 upstart is self explanatory, the LP gain is negligible due to how quickly this deck can put out random damage. Prisma and CyDra in the side deck was a last minute change. I was relatively scared of kozmo till Ryan brought it up. As well as the obvious 3 ROTA, because of monk, stratos, a hero lives, and shadow mist, this card essentially made the kozmo match-up a bye in my opinion. Lancea and Scythe were for Ritual Beasts, Infernoid, Satellar, and any other stupid deck. 3 lance for any trap deck, 3 mind crush for psy-frames/nekroz, and the last 4 slots were whatever decent card I could scrounge together + space mambo. (shoutout to my husband Alex Medina)   I live in Richmond, Va for college, which is 2 hours from Nicky, Ryan, and Collin, and they are 4 hours from Atlantic city. Ryan Levine (bless his soul) Drove DOWN to Richmond, then back up to Northern Virginia where Collin drove the 4 of us there. Despite intending to reach the event at 8:00, we of course reached it at about ~midnight or so. Despite having done almost no testing with this deck apart from 2 games vs Ryan’s psy-frames and like 4 matches vs Noah on skype, I felt incredibly confident, and was 100% sure I would top for some reason. Go figure. We went to bed at 2:00 or so since Ryan and Collin were dicking around with fucking “Yosenju Psy-frames”. (Or so I assumed.)          We woke up, showered etc, and were all on 6 hours of sleep. When we got to the event I had to ship 30$ for sanctums, ignitions, etc, and got savaged by Peter Cheng for like 20$ Sucks to suck. You can imagine my dismay when my teammate Dilan showed up later with a binder full of artifact cards. That’s life. I paid my 35$(Lol) and then sat down for round 1. Round 1: Psy-Frames        As soon as he activated the spell negator on my hero lives, I was fearful. I had played with ryan a couple games, and we were about 50-50, so luckily I knew what the cards did, but it was still good. He won game 1 by having too much advantage from the trap + psychic feel zones. Game 2 I made Anki and Masked Hero acid as well as ignition for the field spell. In game 3, he activated final countdown and I went on tilt. I just waited till I had game since I knew he had the attack stopper, fiendish’d his black rose when he tried to use its eff on my turn, then mind crushed the battle fader while black rose was on field so he couldn’t negate it, and killed him. I was extremely relieved, and accepted my round 1 win.        1-0   Round 2: Qliphort        He was a very old guy on a custom mat, but he was one of the nicest opponents I played. He went first and just set 3, I did a hero lives and he warning’d, so I set 4 and passed IIRC. He drew for turn and drew stealth and I was elated to be playing qliphort when I played dark law turbo ft. 10 MSTs. I let the attack through, bricked next turn so I had to mirror force it, then I drew rota for shadow mist and summoned goblindberg and killed him since I had moralltach ignition sanctum set lol. Don’t remember much of game 2 but I know it was swift.      2-0   Round 3: No-show        My opponent was apparently the guy who got 1st at the regionals chumlee played almost trapless BA at, so I was nervous and excited. He had a fixed table evidently, so I was moved. I waited 10 minutes before I just called a judge so I got a match win. I played a couple games with Michael Kokovidis who I disliked before the event, but he’s cool in real life so that was fun.      3-0   Round 4: Spellbooks        I know what you’re thinking. But this is Jeff who topped as well, I was apparently his only loss in swiss. I had dark law with a set mirror force, fiendish, and 2 random shitters, so he did crescent and I banished the secrets he added with dark law. He had to summon kycoo at one point and searched wisdom, and then used power to attempt to attack over dark law. I used fiendish, he chained wisdom, I chained mirror force, and we went to game 2. In game 2 he went first I believe, set a monster, set 3. I drew, summoned stratos, attacked over blue guy and he searched. I set 3, he draws and passes I believe. I draw, attempt to make dark law, but he has lose 1 turn so I activate ignition, he chains another one. I attack for 1800. At some point he finally unbricks while I have outed his other lose 1 turn, so he reveals tower, eternity, and tower for priestes. I chain sanctum to the summon and he scoops. Jeff is a really cool guy and I’m glad he topped.      4-0   Round 5: infernoids (Mike Albanese)        Mike is funny as shit but before the round Collin told me not to act like an idiot and banter with him too much during the match because I do that a lot and lose. So I kept interaction with him to a minimum as far as me acting stupid. He knows what I’m playing so he wins the die roll, and chooses to go second. I open pretty mediocre with a hero lives, set moralltach. He summons raiden, I chain mask change. He summons harmadik from hand and then I promptly lose. I was nervous I would lose to my basically autowin matchup. Game 2 I go first with durendal, dark law, and he scoops after I moralltach his harmadik, and fiendish his dekatron after he needs 1 more infernoid in grave to win. I also mirror force him at some point and he loses.   Game 3, he elects to go second and I open up pretty good, with durendal, dark law, sanctum, and beagalltach. He summons reasoning and I call 4. He banishes half his deck before hitting a raiden. He then activates dark hole and I use durendal. He loses from that point. He brought it up later if he had hit the beagalltach with patrulea he would have probably won. 50/50 luck over skill xd 5-0   Round 6: Satellar (Matt Cairoli)        I didn’t wanna get too excited since I was 5-0 at Richmond last time and I then went 5-3 and didn’t top. I was at table 1 now and played vs satellarknights, my theoretical worst matchup. I opened the nuts made a 2-mat pleiades (since I knew he was playing satellars), dark law set 3 stratos in hand. He set 4 and passed, I attacked into mirror force and subsequently lost too much advantage off of it. I summoned a dark law in defense mode by chaining a mask change, but he compulsory’d it and I was just dead.   Game 2, I went first again and made dark law set double ignition and fiendish. He set 2, activating duality to play around dark law. I then used double ignition to blow him out, he couldn’t recover. Game 3, He went first and resolved a deneb search. He triverr looped me and although I made a Pleiades and might have won, he alpha’d when I attempted to bounce the triverr and I lost. He was a really nice guy though, and he thought my deck was cool which was neat.      5-1   Round 7: Kozmo        I made durendal dark law (noticing a trend?) And he bricked, he had to set a goodwitch if I recall. Game 2, he bricked again and I otk’d him. However he still topped and he seemed nice so yeah.      6-1   At this point, I was excited to finally have my first top since I would just draw my last round.          Round 8: Dilan Solanki matchup   I got matched up against literally the only person in the room I didn’t want to play against, one of my best friends. He was x-1-1, and I was x-1. I was not sure if I was going to top at X-2, otherwise I would have given him the win. I did not want to jeopardize my chance at a top so we played it out. Game 1: He knew I was playing heroes, so he went first and summoned manju unicore added decisive. I made dark law attacked over the ju and set sanctum. During his sp, I activated sanctum but he just used a raw drawn gungnir to stop morall. He summoned a valk tributing 2 cards, and drew prep and a manju so I lost promptly after.   Game 2, I summoned durendal 2 materials + dark law set sanctum and morall so he basically started with 4 cards. Game 3, he went first made unicore ju gungnir, attacked over a dark law with a valk at some point and I mirror forced it and killed him next turn with excalibur.        7-1   Before we submitted the slip, mike Albanese told me I would still be the highest x-2 if I scooped to him and that I would definitely top, so I gave him the win. I would have been 1st after swiss and thus gotten to choose to go first or second for the whole of top cut, but because I gave dilan the win I shifted to 12th. It’s okay though because I’m glad he topped. Ryan went 6-0-2, and nicky and Collin died because nekroz sucks in arg format. I see I’m playing shaddolls later that night. Ryan Collin nicky and I drive to buffalo wild wings and on the way look at the decklists ryan and I will have to play against. My opponent maindecks(!) 2 dark holes, 2 eccentrick archfiends, 1 denko, and then sides 2 more denkos, 3 fucking de-fusion and breakthrough skills. What is supposed to be a free matchup if he played a normal build becomes very scary. Regardless I’m happy I got my first top.     We wake up the next morning and get there like 15 minutes late because Collin is fat. I play vs shaddoll duelist. It’s a grind game in game 1, especially after he elects to go first. At some point I have a Pleiades, a shadow mist, a set mask change, and 2 other sets vs his tricklown, set falco, and 2 unknowns. I knew he mained 1 denko, so I should have just activated mask change during the draw phase. However, like I suspected he summons denko and I am forced to Pleiades it, and he passes. I am forced to make an emeral and then another rank 4, but because I didn’t run delteros I couldn’t make diamond since I already used it. Next turn I stupidly overlayed with shadow mist for some reason, and he goes denko, shaddoll fusion from deck and I lose. I suck.   Game 2, I make him go first, he goes turn 1 winda, set 1, set falco, end phase make shek. My backrow is sanctum, ignition, moralltach, and a mask change with a shadow mist. I misplay again by not using it during the draw phase to make anki which he could not attack over, but I don’t so he just summons denko. I add stratos with shadow mist, summon it add another mist so I can make anki next turn, and then pass. He summons another denko and I just lose. It sucks to lose to yourself, but I guess I learned something. If I could re-enter the event, I would just change the abyss dweller in the extra deck to   I go claim my prizes, go to McDonald’s with azad, come back to watch chumlee fucking destroy a satellar duelist then ryan wins with fucking yosenju psyframes. I am very proud of him. This was a nice event, I wanna give a shoutout to Alex Medina for the space mambo tech. I also left my deck with Azad and he lives a long ways away so he will have to mail me my fucking cards I guess.   Props: Seeing people I don’t see often, topping, getting 1st in swiss, and playing fucking heroes with artifacts, 3 members of our team topping. Slops: Losing in top 16 to myself, not playing a delteros in the extra deck.   Thanks for reading everyone!    Also shout out to maxwell shrack because hes so nice 8)

I quickly found out that people were using Prisma. Unfortunately, I also quickly found out that The Eye of Timaeus was godawful. Thankfully, Dragon's Mirror is around to pick up the slack. I chose not to play the Dragon Rulers due to possible banlist speculations and also because I don't find them to be particularly good card design.   The deck desperately wants to do something when it's not making power plays with its arsenal of fusions, so a set of Hands and Maidens(and, by extention, Blue-Eyes) were added to hold the fort for a while. Playing the Maiden/Blue-Eyes tandem opened the door to playing White Stone, which has naturally synergy with DMG Knight, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, and Super Poly. The Hands being Fire/Water also play quite nicely with Miracle Fusion, giving us a quick Nova Master/Abs0.  All this helps load the yard for Miracle/Mirror. It should be noted that Maiden is a spellcaster and can be recurred with Amulet Dragon's death ability.   Some choices explained: 3 Phoenix Wing Wind Blasts are included to make use of any stray BEWD/DM/DMG that wander into the hand, though I can see a case for making a 2/2 split with Super Poly. Blue-Eyes Ultimate in the extra helps dump dragons into the grave via Prisma. Dark Magic Attack is in for the surprise factor in game 1. Much like Sabers' Hyunlei, it preys upon people who still set every spell/trap simply because Heavy isn't currently legal. I would almost always side them out for something else postboard.   Thanks go to Sharpman. I drew upon your list somewhat for inspiration.

 6. There’s a qualifier for this tournament every month and based on how many people enter and how well you do you’ll get a certain number of points. Played a fair few and got enough points to be one of the 6 people with 2 or more byes. Last year the event was called the 5k, meaning they gave out $5000 worth of prizes. Basically the event organiser dicked everybody over and handed out $2500 in credit as the only prizes for this year. You weren't even allowed to enter qualifiers with credit. Salt. Thursday afternoon I have my last exam and smash the fuck out of it. Head back home and sort out the list I wanted to play for Heroes as it was the deck I had decided to take. I play some games on dn against people who aren't terrible and feel pretty comfortable with the list. Friday morning I head into the city which is where the tournament is being held and get some testing in with my team. Sold a Big Eye for $105 as this guy was trying to dick over the person I was originally selling it to and just kept offering higher. Was testing against Rokman who was playing agents and I was opening either Drain or Cydra for his Venus every game and ended up going 4-1 I believe. Head home early to do shit with my family etc. Saturday our team heads into the store for testing and the LCQ’s; which were 8 players single elimination. Gareth is playing them to get his 2[sup]nd[/sup] bye as they give you points for winning. He pays for me to enter one so that he has higher odds of winning as I can scoop to him. I decide to play monster mash because the deck is rather fun; which is hard to come by this format. Round 1: Monster Mash vs Heroes Game 1: I open really sub-par as this deck is rather inconsistent and I lose after he Roads my Black Rose and then later flips a Skill Drain on me. Game 2: I drop 2 Gallis on him while holding 3 Birdman and win from there. Game 3: I sit on Fortress for a while and then win by hitting 2 lv 10’s off Gallis’s. Round 2: Monster Mash vs Dragunities Game 1: I open double Maxx “C” which just shuts him down and lets me draw into my combo pieces as I plus 1 off each of them. Game 2: I have the Maxx “C” for his power play again and manage to get up 3 cards. He draws to 2 cards in hand and activates ravine, pitches x card and I chain the sided in MST to win the game. Round 3: Scoop to Gareth as we were on opposite sides of the pool. Continue testing throughout the day and head back to Gareth’s with Jackson and Carl to continue testing for the night. I was playing Mirror Force over Compulsory to punish over extending as everyone just commits and you can just lose based on that. Jackson convinces me to switch back to Compulsory which is a good decision as it was my favourite card of the day. Figure out side decks based on what we think will be present. Start to write up lists at like 1 and then don’t try to go to sleep till 4; standard for events. Everyone knocks off but I can’t sleep so I just lie down and listen to some music until the alarm goes off at 8. We take showers, eat breakfast and catch a tram back into the city. Arrive at the venue at 10 as we were meant to start at 11; hand in our decklists and just sit down and talk until we begin. Carl and Rokman don’t have byes so Jackson, Gareth and I rail there games and scout to see who is playing what. Repeat for round 2 as we get see those who had 1 bye play. By the end of this round I’m feeling pretty pumped especially for having no sleep. The Actual Event~ Round 1: Bye 1-0 Round 2: Bye 2-0 Round 3: Heroes vs Water Game 1: I open really badly, something like 5 monsters and a prison. 7. i've been trying to figure out what to play for this event ever since Toronto, I went through everything imaginable. I was doing testing all the time but earlier this week I had some personal issues that arose and it took my attention away from this. I wasn't even 100% sure I was going until last night when I felt I was able to go, and I decided to run Heroes cause it was the deck I knew the best. ----- So I get to the venue around 9 and start running around looking for 2 Different Dimension ground and a Crusader of Endymion, since apparently I don't have any. I manage to get a DDG for 5$ and borrow the other stuff. My deck list is already filled out, so I run around to find people cards and make my only trade of the day to get a Heliopolis. Lots of peoples from the locals i go to in the summer and the one i go to during the school year were here, 79 people, 8 rounds. Hurr we go My teamates Nick and Tom played Windup and Dark World respectively, Purple/Legend Hatake showed up to regionals with no mat and decided to play DW at 4:30 AM, and Branden418 was playing geargia. Wry9 was playing Windup I believe. Snack Pack played Windup. and my buddy Shane played heroes, but I can't for the life of me remember his DGZ name. I think thats everybody there whose on DGZ... --------- Round 1 - ... Actually, we got repair. I end up getting paired against the guy who was sitting next to me, and I saw he was playing sanctuary agents. Round 1 - Sanctuary Agents He gets Sanctuary and Im able to stall with a thunder king forever until he finally summons Jupiter to get over it. Im able to clear a few of his things and eventually he makes a Gachi while I have compulse set. He summons Hyperion to blow up compulse, so I spin the Gachi with Gorz in hand. I drop Gorz he blows it up, I suicide with the hyperion and the token and am able to control from there. Game 2, it goes like this. Sanctuary set 1. Alius swing into Nova he gets Airknight, I set spark and typhoon. He activates Solidarity, swings, I flip MST on solidarity he negates with Herald of Green discarding perfection So I have to Spark the Airknight and he then activates MYSTIC WOK from his hand. He's got solid Sanc and 1 in hand which is dead so I'm just able to 19 beats him all day for game 1-0 Round 2 - Gravekeepers I lose the roll again, and he goes commandant valley tribute, and i lose 2 monsters and am staring at 2 hero blasts and miracle. In hindsight, I should have immediately scooped when he activated tribute. That game was just unwinnable Game 2 I'm suffering from monster drought again, and I have a thunderking to his set card. He summons descendant, flips recruiter and I have no outs so I have no choice but to Judgment the recruiter. I eventually am able to draw into a miracle after grinding his field and taking this game Game 3 He T sets, I have storm but i don't want to waste it so early so I summon thunder king and he torrentials... revealing a descendant! So I grind this game out as well holding my MST until I draw Miracle, and that seals the game 2-0 Round 3 - Bubble Beat Game 1 I'm in total control while he has no cards, but then i top a bunch of spells while he tops a miracle but i have compulse, and then he tops alius to put me on a 3 turn clock. I continue to draw useless spells and die Game 2 I take really easily with 1900 beats Game 3 He sets 1, I e call for stratos swing and pass with gorz in hand. He dualities for dark hole sets another, and i do the same the following turn. He draws, sets his hand, specials cyber dragon. flips e call gets stratos into bubbleman, flips rota for bubbleman. makes blade armor detach, and I think WRAs to get bubbleman back to make excalibur. then he flips Miracle (his last set is hole) for zero, and attempts to kill me but I have Gorz to chump the rest of the hits so i only take 2500 and I dark hole his field the following turn, i'm so far up in card advantage he can't come back 3-0 Round 4 - Windup Game 1 is a long grind game, I sit on 3 backrow and Stratos forever but I actually run out of outs to Magician+Shark but he's able to get it off. He ends up making Zenmaioh, and runs into my Road and its over Game 2 Goes on even longer, I draw into Needle Ceiling but am never able to really capitalize on it. I end up grinding this one out anyway with a warning on one of his sharks being huge cause I run over the magician next turn. 4-0 Round 5 - Geargia I had to play Branden. Game 1 goes to us both playing extremely conservative and him getting two key plusses off of Gearframes. I'm eventually able to draw into an E Call, and start grinding resources with him until he's forced to drop his Fortress. I drop the Cyber I've been holding on to and make Chimeratech and swing with it and a Thunder king to his 1 in hand. I do this for another turn but he tops Dark Hole. He draws into an accel and I run over it with a hero, so he sets Armor. I'm able to make Blade Armor ninja and go for game. Game 2 I summon a Thunder King early and it dies and he reborns it, and I get into a really bad position until Im able to clear it with a dark hole. I'm able to establish control with another thunder king, and he ends up setting monsters on me so I just turtle behind my Thunder king. He's got two sets and a backrow, I swing at the one I believe is accel and he lets it go gets his armor back and sets it. Next turn I go to swing at the other one since there's no armors left in grave he D Prisons my Raioh, I e call for stratos summon flip Torrential so if he has an accel it doesn't go off, and he drops a Soul Taker so I decide to hold my miracle until I absolutely need it and just continue pushing and eventually he sets a monster with no backrow i summon Cyber Dragon flip NoC for game. Really ggs 5-0 Round 6 - Windup Another friend from my School Locals, I 2-1 this one too. I don't remember many details though. In game 3 a Shock Master happened, but I had the compulse + Gorz and took total control 6-0 Round 7 - Samurai I was the only undefeated going into this round, and I didn't think this match would be insanely hard because this is a guy who goes to my summer locals because I'd beaten him every other time we played. Today, I guess the yugi gods just decided to rain on my parade. I'd like to mention his main deck was FORTY SIX CARDS Game 1 - he slams Gateway on the table like a true champion, makes a Shockmaster + grandmaster + Elder and calls spells, I'm staring at a veiler and Road, Blast, Prison, warning I let it go top something useless set my hand, he goes shock call traps i veiler. he switches elder/ shock to defense and summons Kageki, I warning it because I cant let him get more gateway counters and then prison his grandmaster. If I can draw an E Call/ any monster there's a chance I'll get back in the game, but I top spark and we're on to game 2 Game 2 - I don't remember this one but i won Game 3 - Sure enough, he once again has gateway but he also was blessed with Shi En and ends with that a Grandmaster and Kizan. I have the dark hole, and I try really hard to get him to negate my E Call and my MST but he just doesn't take the bait. I summon an alius swing over kizan (which I now realize as I'm typing this was incorrect because Kizan was 2100! whoops, but its not like I had any other plays). I have Dark Hole and Torrential I set Torrent hoping to clear his field the following turn but he has a Spirit So he gains insane advantage and I draw Gorz. I go for it with torrent+hole+mst+soul taker leaving me with miracle/ gorz in hand and him with only a Shi En. He draws, summons Hand throwing both cards at me bringin me to 700, after some deliberation on him not declaring his attacks I drop Gorz on Shi En and he passes letting me run over his field. Next turn he's able to make catastor which i'm cool with, so I go to swing over it he has safe zone. The game goes on for like infinite turns after until we get brought to time, and I'm never able to clear this safe zone because I don't draw anymore MSTs or Sparks and I lose because of time. Needless to say I was salty 6-1 I place 5th after Swiss, and end up playing the bane of my existence, Lightsworn in top 8 Game 1 I have a miracle and save it for the JD drop cause I have lots of life, and he drops JD sure enough and blows up a Lightray Diabolos I reborned and a set Prison. On his end phase, he naturally mills a Gardna so I can't swing over the JD and die the next turn game 2 I bum rush him after he triggers my Road, and I save my alius from swinging so he doesn't drop a trag on me, and when I'm about to go for game he pitches a gardna to and I get him down to 100 and I can't draw another monster thats able to end this game and I die. In hindsight, I miscounted lights in his grave I should have waited a turn to go for it so he didn't have enough Lights for Lightray Gearfried... So I lose and miss out on this sick looking deckbox, I was pretty sad Branden also got into top 8, and so did two people from my school locals. The guy I played in top 8 decides to drop, so I could have kept playing to the finals for 10 turbo packs but I'm exhausted and its been a long week so I just head home. Props - 4 people from my locals topping - 2 tops in a row with heroes - HEROES - the prophecy mat is really nice - thunder king raioh is actually the man - largest regionals in moncton yet Slops - My teamates losing on the bubble - Judgment dragon + Gateway being reasons I lost - siding 5 cards for dark world and not playing a single one Here's the list I played, thanks for reading! This was the list I was testing in weeks prior, so I stuck with it. I don't know if I'd make any changes, against the meta decks I always had reasonable outs and was pretty well equipped to handle their plays. It was only against the rogue stuff I had a harder time . If I had gone to Indy this weekend I'd have taken this list with probably a more solid dedication with either 2 cyber or 2 veiler mained the other 2 sided 1 Stratos 1 Cyber Dragon 1 Effect Veiler 1 Gorz (easily the MVP) 3 Alius 3 thunder king 1 crusader of endymion 3 miracle 3 gemini spark 2 e call 2 duality 1 rota 1 reborn 1 dark hole 1 storm 2 mst 3 prison 2 compulse 2 hero blast 2 torrential 2 warning 1 judgment 1 road 3 shining 5 other element fusions 1 roach 1 maestroke 1 chimeratech 1 stardust 1 blade armor 1 excalibur 1 photon papilloperative 3 gemini imps 2 different dimension ground 1 mst 1 super poly 2 soul taker (this card was legit trash it didn't do anything I don't think I'd side this in heroes anymore, I just play too much removal and it was awkward at times) 1 cyber dragon 1 effect veiler 2 needle ceiling 2 nobleman of crossout

I wake my ass up at 8 in the morning (which I haven't done for the whole entire year by the way), throw on my Mac Miller shirt and Red Vans (SWAG) make the hour drive to gamelot, start to write my decklist, and then the owner says we have 15 minutes to fill them out and turn them in. I'm like wtf I just got here. Well I rush and finish the list, cut in line like a boss on accident and turn the decklist in. Turns out they were doing decklists for another fucking hour and a half. Fuck Regionals. Meet up with my locals buddies from Corpus and bust a hard chill. Don't make any trades because I'm a broke fucker with nothing but Lightpulsars and Leviathan Dragons on his first page. The rest is a blur of me bitching about how hungry and tired I was. Turns out only about 195 people showed up. No super duper Texas yugioh pros anywhere either. Kind of bummed, I've never top 8ed a regional before, and if I were to I guess I wouldn't feel as accomplished as if it were a regular regional. I felt like I was playing yugioh in like wyoming or iowa or some shit. Oh well fuck it, it would be over quick. Round 1 vs. Inzektors: 2-0ed him. Only inzektor I ever saw was a set dragonfly I ran over with Alius and a Centipede I bottomlessed game 1. I drew pretty beast and pushed his shit in with miracle fusion. He could never get going, but I could tell his deck was solid and perhaps I escaped with good hands. Good start to the day. To be fair, both times he showed me his hand it was complete shit. Giga Mantis with some other unplayable cards. My master cutting skills put in work. 1-0. Round 2 vs. Six Sam: I run into the rogue sacky six sam bad matchup. Game 1 - United, United, Make Shien, set 2 go. Needless to say I lost. Game 2 I don't let him get going and gemini spark dat ass. Game 3 is pretty much a repeat of game 1. I wasn't to salty, because I leave room for myself to get sacked once out of every tournament. Sucks it was in the earlier rounds but I wished him luck. 1-1. top 8? no way bro. Round 3 vs. Gladiator Beast I refuse to write about this match. Easy win for me, but whyy in the fuck!? 2-1. Round 4 vs. Infernity -___-... Skill drain. Where are these people coming from? 3-1. Round 5 vs. Dark World Haven't won a die roll up to this point. I still don't. I get nervous as shit as soon as I see the first turn dark world dealings. Supposed to be a bad matchup. Well I smashed the fuck out of him like nothing. Bait out some warnings, Heavy Storm, Miracle Fusion, D Prison, And bottomless do what they do. Happy I mained the bottomless I 2-0ed this chump, who was running some weird teched out version with D world lightning and shiz. 4-1. Sitting pretty comfy. Glad I've dodged rabbit up to this point. Here is where the madness begins. - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - -- - - -- - - - - -- Round finishes. Wait for about 30 minutes and shoot the shit. Then the word gets to us that the system has crashed, and they have to input every single round up to this point. Okay, won't be to long will it? At this point it is around 4:30 5:30. Every begins to become impatient. Sit around, crack some jokes, tell myself it will all be over soon. 6:30. This is fucking ridiculous. I download some High Frequency app on my phone and start trolling people. Follow them around and watch them freak. It was fun. Whatever, there was nothing else to do. Can't believe this regional is really going to last this long. Make some fucked jokes with the owner and security guards. Lolz. 7:30. I'm sure about 50 people leave. I consider dropping as well, but I'm x 1 so fuck that noise. Talk to my friend Phil about sex with my ex girlfriend and how make-up sex is the best kind, and some chick I always see who looks like she's 15 with braces turns and shoots me a dirty look. I laugh to myself and shrug it off. What the fuck do you expect bitch, you're at a sweaty sausage fest with guys on the brink of insanity. No clue why, but this really pissed me off. I wanted to start shit because at this point I'm so short tempered, but I let it go. Women and respect and blablabla. 8:30 4 hours later order is restored. Yay... - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - -- - -- -- -- - - - - - -- - - - - - - Round 6 vs: Dark World Seems like a cool guy. Tells me he wished he would've smoked more. I'm like bro I hope you misplay now because I cannot play high to save my life. He's like nahh I got this. Does some dark world shenaningans but I bait out the warnings AGAIN and overcome advantage deficit with some late pushes. Game 2 I don't draw any of my side, but he draws shitty because Dark World can do that and I whomp him. He seems pretty upset and asks to play again for fun. I tell him no at first and I can tell how frustrated he gets, then I give in and tell him yeah but I won't side. He beats the fuck out of me with smog and reckless greed. Oh well right ? 5-1. Yeahhhh buddy. Round 7 vs Rabbit: This point I'm at the top tables. Sweet tits. I've played this guy before, and he's super chill and a bro so I'm all polite and shiz. First rabbit matchup of the day Laggia set 2 go. I'm able to clear the field with some minuses but then get my asshole inverted by rabbit. Game 2: I draw no side but he draws super bad. I stop one rabbit and he schoopz for game 3. Game 3: Nervous. Get heavy stormed early but he has no follow up. Goes back and forth. At one point we trade thunderkings, but again he is never able to bring out a dolka or laggia because of my stun gun of a deck and I win. 6-1. Happy, and I am sure as hell not going to lose on the x-1 bubble. I can taste the mat and regional top I've never had. Round 8 vs Rabbit: Some asian kid who still seems pretty ticked from the past match. Alius set 5 go. I win. Game 2: Can't remember much but I heavy storm HIS TWO MSTS AND A BOOK OF MOON then get out alius and thunderking TO RUN OVER HIS TOUR GUIDED SANGAN with honest in hand. \m/. Can't believe how I've literally released my semen all over rabbit. 7-1. I top 8. Get a mat and get matched up against one of my local buddies playing that weird floater shit that did well at some Ycs with a transition side into Wind-ups. I don't side deck and want the day to be over by this point and I happily lay down and take the loss. The deck is sick though and I can see why he topped. TOP 8 FUCKING YUGIOH CREDENTIAL VALIDATION. Why I did so well: My opponents drew bad I drew good Heroes are still a good deck I am a player getting better with card choices Taking out mirror force and starlight road for a second bribe and a second d prison Avoiding inzektors and rabbit for the most part Everyone being tired as balls. Still counts though right? Never getting even close to going into time Props: Top 8/Mat Yugioh Validation Not sweating profusely due to good air-conditioning. MY HOMEBOY JARET GETTING HIS FIRST TOP 8 too! GAMELOT IS MY FUCKING SPOT MAN Slops: Cold 5 dollar pizza 4 hour wait Friend Cody getting judge fucked Friend Phil losing on bubble. 15. Backstory: This is my first YCS lol. I've been playing competitively for about 2 years, but it wasn't until approximately 10 months ago that I became immensely dissatisfied after bubbling out of a regional that I really wanted to top, and started to take things a lot more seriously. My local meta is ridiculously random, and most of our players apparently aren't very good, so I posted/lurked more on DGZ, to learn more and to hopefully stop being bad. A couple months ago (I think), I read Sharpman's regional report from last format, where he topped with a HERO build that incorporated the Tour Guide engine. I didn't agree with some of his card ratios and his side deck, but I liked the concept as a whole, and I've been playing a modified build since then. I was actually contemplating playing Factory-less Wind Ups for the YCS, but was told by my friends who made the trip with me not to. Before my friends and I flew to Long Beach on Thursday, we found Natsboy and Wiggles at the airport and a couple of my friends immediately bought a bunch of CP/TU cards lol. After getting to the hotel, we ended up getting 3 rooms, as ATJdragon and Nich were also staying with us. Friday was pretty uneventful, there was a fucking huge lineup for pre-registration, so we ended up touring the venue, bought a bunch of higher-end cards for good prices, and finally submitted our decklists and registration near closing time, where the queue was around 10-15 minutes of waiting time lol. Saturday morning was ridiculous, there were wayyyy more players than Konami apparently accounted for, with the final count being around 4300 or so, so the first round didn't end up starting until the early afternoon IIRC. As I was waiting in my line for the pairings for the 1[sup]st[/sup] round to get posted up, a girl sitting right in front of me randomly starts hitting on me. She was nice and ok appearance-wise I guess, but way too young lol; still, it was pretty funny. Round 1: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Kristen Wood (???) @ Table 1306 I win the dice roll G1: Honestly I don't even know what kind of deck I'm up against, I just won. G2: I open with a pretty passive hand with a couple backrows and a set Snowman Eater. She ends up setting 3 monsters before I'm able to draw into an Alius, which killed off her 3 monsters in sequence. They were Green Gadget, Red Gadget, and Yellow Gadget, respectively...! Afterwards, she told me that she had only been playing for a couple months, and that she didn't expect to win, so we just chatted about the experience of playing in this event and such. Honestly I'm not that into white chicks, but she's pretty cute IMO. Result: OO 1-0 Round 2: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Daniel Leon (Chaos) @ Table 809 I win the dice roll G1: He went super aggressive and had me going at his pace. I had a dead Fiendish Chain clogging my field while I had Gorz in hand, and was forced to Dark Hole his Thunder King and a Caius that was revived by Call of the Haunted, hoping to bait Solemn Judgment should he have it. He chained Starlight Road and I was like oh god I lose. I then played Heavy Storm to try to force the negation from his Stardust, but surprisingly he let it go, so he lost 4 backrows (including his CoTH'd Caius) one of which was indeed Solemn LOL. I summon Raioh and crash with his. On his turn he just swings with Stardust into my Gorz!!! He eventually is reduced to topdecking and rips Sorc to banish my HERO, and immediately after I kill it, Black Luster Soldier, which I Torrential. I end up winning G2: He has a Kinetic Soldier to my Alius with Book set and Dark Hole in hand. He MST's the Book so I chain to Book my own Alius to prevent me from taking damage, as I was at 2400. He drops Black Luster Soldier for the ggz G3: He drops Black Luster Soldier on me yet again, which I had to Solemn. He couldn’t do anything productive after that and I won. Result: OXO 2-0 Round 3: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Emmanuel Smith (Chain Burn) @ Table 121 I win the dice roll G1: I don't draw into a whole lot of spell/trap hate, and get destroyed. G2: I don't draw into any spell/trap hate or any of my sideboard cards, save for 1 MST, and resort to weenie beats with Tour Guides and Sangan, but he drew well enough to win again Result: XX At this point I'm not mad or anything, I just really wished that I had sideboarded Royal Decree instead of the lone Bottomless. 2-1 Round 4: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Carlos Mira (Dino Rabbit) @ Table 315 Finally a meta deck lol I win the dice roll G1: I beat him down with Elemental HERO The Shining, and he isn't able to do a whole lot G2: I again force him to play to my tempo, but he eventually starts to mount a comeback, and Reaper shots me to drop me to 7700 while he's at 2400. I Tour Guide for Leviair to retrieve Stratos to search Alius, then Super Poly the Leviair + Stratos for Great Tornado to punch his Spirit Reaper for game. Result: OO Gellenduo was ridiculously good 3-1 Round 5: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Johnathan Arzola (Inzektors) @ Table 546 I lose the dice roll G1: This was a drawn out game, but he’s eventually able to combo off and take it G2: I take this one easily after I play Prohibition on his Hornet G3: I didn’t draw into Crow or Prohibition, but he couldn’t access Hornet either, so I once I swung and killed a face down Centipede, I smelled blood, went really aggressive, and killed him as fast as I could Result: XOO 4-1 Round 6: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Adam Vargas (Chain Burn) @ Table 359 I lose the dice roll G1: As soon as I swung into his set Marshmallon and he flipped over his draw cards I’m like “not again!” He takes this one decisively G2: Unlike my last match vs Chain Burn, I draw into some backrow hate, and used the Lava Golem he gave me as Miracle Fusion fodder lol G3: I beat him down with Tour Guides and Sangan, and he didn’t draw into enough burn cards to kill me. It also helped that he misplayed a combo, dealing 1000 damage instead of 2500, and didn’t have the reverse-burn cards needed for the instances when he used his Upstart Goblins, so my LP was never in danger. Result: XOO 5-1 Round 7: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Nicky Rojanasapondist (Dino Rabbit) @ Table 187 I lose the dice roll G1: This was a bit of a grind, but I eventually bring out Great Tornado to halve the atk of his spent Laggias, forcing him to play on the defensive, and I win it with a Leviair play G2: I guess he thought that I was going to side into Skill Drains and stuff, because he flipped Royal Decree on me while we both had 4 backrows. After I forced his Laggia’s negation, I flipped my set Heavy Storm lol. He was reduced to topdecking with a dead Rescue Rabbit in hand, but ripped Pot of Avarice. I was greatly displeased, but again baited out the negation and ended up sacking back-to-back Miracle Fusions for overkill Result: OO Gellenduo was ridiculously good 6-1 Day 1 concluded at this point, and I was 6-1 heading into Day 2. It really sucked how Day 2 was to start at 8am, and it was already past 1am. Round 8: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Omar Verpuzco (Chaos Dragons) @ Table 105 I lose the dice roll G1: This was a really dangerous game, as I was at 100 LP to his 150 LP, but he had exhausted his resources so I summoned my in-hand Alius for game G2: Another back and forth game, his LP was reduced low enough that I was able to Miracle Fusion for The Shining, attack his dragon, and drop Honest for the win. Result: OO 7-1 Round 9: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Matthew Perez (Dark World) @ Table 14 One of the new friends I made on this trip, who’s also staying at the same hotel, is playing beside me at table 13 against Patrick Hoban lol. He got destroyed apparently. All the same, I do commend him for making it this far playing Chaos with only 1 Maxx “C” and no Zenmaines in the extra lol I lose the dice roll G1: As soon as he started playing his Dark World cards, I was not too happy, as I knew it would be a rough match. He hit me with Deck Devastation Virus to nuke my Tour Guides, but I topped into Miracle Fusion and a 3200 The Shining was just too big G2: Over the course of the game, he drew into triple MST, Dust Tornado, triple Reckless Greed, and Card Destruction. G3: Over the course of the game, he drew into triple MST, Dust Tornado, triple Reckless Greed, and Card Destruction. Unlike Game 2 though, I drew into some of my sideboard hate after he had expended his backrow removal, but I was down significantly down in cards, and was unable to mount a comeback. Can’t lose any more! Result: OXX 7-2 Round 10: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Cristian Gonzalez (standard Miracle HEROes) @ Table 110 I lose the dice roll G1: I draw better than he did and I win G2: He draws better than I did and he wins, despite walking right into my Super Polymerization by summoning a 2[sup]nd[/sup] HERO monster. G3: I’m able to establish control, and drop a Miracle Fusion for game while he was at 400 LP to my 2800 LP. Result: OXO 8-2 Round 11: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Evan Jones (Dino Rabbit) @ Table 57 I win the dice roll G1: This was a really hard game, as it was pretty clear that he’s a cut above the previous Dino Rabbit players I faced, and I’m able to push for a comeback with Super Polymerization after being taken down to 50 LP. G2: I don’t open with any monsters, and eat damage from Tour Guide / Sangan. I’m able to punch in a little bit of damage with an Alius, but he eventually takes the game. At one point I attempted to bluff an in-hand Honest, but he didn’t bite, and attacked with Laggia anyway. I paused for a sec, looked him in the eye, and put Alius in the grave lol G3: We go into time right as we draw our hands. I open with Stratos into Alius and a set Torrential. I contemplated setting Super Polymerization as well, fully aware that the odds of him having MST was significantly greater than having Heavy Storm, but if he indeed had the Heavy, I would lose outright, as the rest of my hand was mediocre. He had the MST, and went super aggressive. As we reached my last turn of time, I was at a mere 2400 LP to his 7500 LP, but had reduced him to no cards on field and 1 in hand. I don’t believe I could even have pushed for enough damage to equalize the LP count, but it was irrelevant, for his one card in hand was Gorz. Result: OXX He’s a pretty friendly guy, so despite being 8-3 now, I wasn’t feeling bad or anything After signing the match slip, I asked a judge if I had any chance of topping, however slim it may be, and he told me to just play it out. In hindsight I shouldn’t have listened to him, as it became apparent that a bunch of X-2’s (nevermind X-3’s) failed to make the Top Cut. 8-3 Final Round: LFN (TGU HEROes) vs Leo Cheng Hong Liu (Standard Miracle HEROes) @ Table 140 I win the dice roll G1: He fails to do much and I beat face with double Elemental HERO The Shining G2: A back and forth game, I eventually lose when he draws into Super Polymerization G3: I opened with 2 Tour Guides, Sangan, Snowman Eater, and 2 HERO support cards , so I set Snowman and passed, hoping he would summon an Alius or something and ram into it. He unfortunately had Cyber Dragon, so that plan was fruitless. This was probably my fault, but it was guaranteed that he was playing a standard build of Miracle HEROes, so I just aggressively pressed for damage over several turns after killing his Cyber Dragon, only for him to unexpectedly drop Gorz on me after the 3[sup]rd[/sup] turn of drawing and attacking. I struggled to deal with it, and had to camp on Zenmaines in an attempt to stall, setting Solemn and a bluff for insurance. He blind MST’d the Solemn and Monster Reborn’ed his Cyber Dragon and it was quite GG. Result: OXX 8-4 At this point I finally started to feel really dejected, and didn’t even bother checking my final placing. 2 of my friends who I traveled with ended up topping, 1 losing in the Top 64 and the other losing to Simon He in the Top 16, which got a feature match. 1 other friend who randomly made the trip (staying at a different hotel though) and had intended to troll people with Malefic Skill Drain.dek with main decked Prohibitions inexplicably ended up topping, and we were all like “wtf lol wow you have got to be kidding me” Props:

Picking up sick deals on relatively harder-to-find and/or desirable cards
Meeting Devin Djuricin, PJ, Dan Connell, Justin Delhon, and others
No douchebag opponents
Gellenduo
Super Polymerization
TYu for lending me a Gellenduo
PJ for signing my TU Doomcaliber Knight (sorry I didn’t have my scr Dark Armed for you to sign)
Getting a deal on the hotel due to one of my friends having connections
Slops:

My friends not taking me seriously when I told them before the event that I was siding Gellenduo.
My friends not taking me seriously when I told them before the event about the Inzektor ruling with Effect Veiler / Fiendish Chain, where the Hornet ‘falls off’ the Inzektor after it’s been equipped.
My friends not taking me seriously when I told them that Electric Virus is a good side deck card. But like any good thing, it comes with a downside. Dark Calling needs specific Heroes. Thankfully, Prisma can dump them and TGU can get a fusion substitute, making it consistent. Lightning Golem is no slouch either, it is like a Chaos Sorcerer that can hit facedowns and doesn't lose its attack. Since Prisma is so crucial and there is no Gemini Spark, I use 3 Prisma 2 Alius. Gemini Spark wouldn't work even with 3 Alius, firstly due to space and secondly due to Stratos always getting Prisma. Yes, that is the full set of Hero Blast. Remember, Prisma dumping Sparkman makes it live, and that play happens pretty much every game right at the start of the game. Veiler does nothing to Prisma, as dumping is a cost. Normal Hero Beat can't do this because it becomes dead, but as it is so easy to dump a Normal Hero, it works. Once set up, Hero Blast is amazing, even with just Sparkman. It kills any Inzektor, any Wind-Up, TGU etc with just Sparkman, and will kill Rabbit if the TCG ever loses ignition priority. Even if there is nothing to kill, it is still a Monster Reincarnation. Cyber Dragon is there because of the interaction with Prisma and Chimera Fortress, as well as feeding Light Hex. Light Hex is the most questionable part, first because you don't get it off that often and second because it forces Cyber Twin into the extra. The reason that it is there is that I don't feel that TGU and 1 Fusion Substitute is enough for 3 Dark Calling since I refuse to run multiples of Sparkman and Clayman, so I picked the Fusion Substitute that can actually do something in addition to being a substitute, however rare that might be. Dark Calling can fuse from the hand, so you don't have to waste your time summoning/setting fusion subs. With 6 Miracle Fusions, I feel that a single Parallel World is justified, and so far it has been - I've never drawn it dead with nothing banished, although I have been stuck being unable to Miracle/Dark Calling because I wanted to use it, so I only use 1. You may notice the lack of Zenmaines and other Rank 4s in the extra. This is because the extra is ridiculously tight with the Attribute Fusions, Lightning Golems, and Sparkman fusions. Would it be wise to cut either Plasma Vice or Shining Flare for Utopia or Zenmaines? As usual for my decks, I would like to add Warnings but don't see the room. In this deck, Hero Blast is mostly better than Warning, so I wouldn't cut a Blast for it. The only things I could see cutting are the Parallel World and possibly a Cyber Dragon. Thoughts? Kudos to you if you know the reference in the title. That stuff is ancient history.

 23. I was told today while talking about a deck idea, that parallel world fusion cannot be used to summon heroes that have element listed monsters(i.e. Absolute Zero,Great Tornado,The Shining) since I'm not returning the monsters"listed" on the card.Is this bullshit or not?Seems like the wording is the same are Miracle Fusion,so I don't see the difference. Edit:I haven't been able to find any rulings or sources that back up his statement,so I'm guessing it's just like Miracle Fusion.
