1. Trickstars Deck Discussion

    I. Monsters Trickstar Candina Light Fairy / Effect Lv4 1800/400 (1) When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 “Trickstar” card from your Deck to your hand. (2) Each time your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card, inflict 200 damage to your opponent immediately after it resolves. This is your Stratos. An obvious and simple combo is to either add Lilybell or Lycoris and use their respective special summoning effects Trickstar Lilybell Light Fairy / Effect LV2 800/2000 You can only use this card name’s (1) effect once per turn. (1) If this card is added to your hand, except by drawing it: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. (2) This card can attack directly. (3) When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can target 1 “Trickstar” monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. This card combos with both your Candina and Lightstage either of which will trigger the special summoning effect. Part of the reason some lists run 2 of this card is that the 3rd effect of Monster Reborning a Trickstar can come in handy to reextend your combos after you've burned a lot of resources. Ironically since there is no restriction on Lilybell triggering it's own effect if you had a normal summoned Lilybell on field or had it from a previous turn and both a Lilybell and Lycoris in grave you could attack add and trigger Lilybell attack with 2nd Lilybell add Lycoris send back one of the Lilybells ending the combo as the 1st effect is once per turn. Trickstar Lycoris Light Fairy / Effect LV3 1600/1200 (1) During either player’s turn: You can reveal this card in your hand to your opponent, then target 1 face-up “Trickstar” monster you control, except “Trickstar Lycoris”; Special Summon this card, and if you do, Return that target to the hand. (2) Each time your opponent adds a card(s) from their Deck to their hand, inflict 200 damage to them for each card. Trickstar Narkissus Level 4 LIGHT Fairy-Type Effect Monster ATK 1000 DEF 1800 You can only use this card name’s (1) effect once per turn. (1) If your opponent takes effect damage: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. (2) Each time your opponent activates a monster effect from the hand or in the GY, inflict 200 damage to your opponent. Trickstar Carobein(OCG) LIGHT / Level 5 / Fairy / Effect 2000 ATK / 1000 DEF You can only use either this card name’s (1) or (2) effect per turn, and only once that turn. (1) If you control no monsters, or all monsters you control are “Trickstar” monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. (2) From the start of the Damage Step, to before damage calculation, if a “Trickstar” monster you control battles an opponent’s monster: You can send this card from your hand to the GY; that monster you control gains ATK equal to its original ATK, until the end of this turn. Trickstar Mandrake(Unreleased/OCG) Level 2 LIGHT Fairy Effect Monster ATK 0 DEF 1000 You can only use this card name’s (1) and (2) effects once per turn each. (1): If this card is sent from the hand to the GY: You can Special Summon this card in face-up Defense Position, but banish it when it leaves the field. (2): If this card is sent to the GY as Material for the Link Summon of a “Trickstar” Monster: You can target 1 monster a Link Monster your opponent controls points to; destroy it. Trickstar Nightshade(Unreleased/OCG) Level 1 LIGHT Fairy Effect Monster ATK 100 DEF 0 You can only use this card name’s effect once per turn. (1): If this card is sent to the GY as Material for the Link Summon of a “Trickstar” Monster: You can Special Summon this card from your GY, but banish it when it leaves the field. II. Link Monsters Trickstar Holly Angel Light Fairy / Link / Effect Link 2 2000 / BL BR 2 “Trickstar” monsters (1) Each time a “Trickstar” monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to this card’s linked Zone(s), inflict 200 damage to your opponent. (2) A “Trickstar” monster linked by this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effect. (3) When your opponent takes damage from a “Trickstar” monster’s effect: This card gains ATK equal to that amount of damage, until the end of this turn. Trickstar Black Catbat LIGHT Fairy / Link / Effect Link 2 ATK 2000 / L R Materials: 2 “Trickstar” monsters (1) Each time a monster(s) at this card’s Link Point is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the GY, inflict 200 damage to your opponent. (2) Each time a “Trickstar” monster effect inflicts damage to your opponent: Each face-up monster your opponent currently controls loses 200 ATK for each monster at this card’s Link Points until the end of this turn. Trickstar Red Mary(OCG) Light Fairy / Link / Effect Link 2 2000 / R BL 2 “Trickstar” monsters You can only use this card name’s (2) effect once per turn. (1) Each time a “Trickstar” monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to a zone this card points to, you gain 200 LP. (2) You can discard 1 “Trickstar” card; each player draws 1 card. If your LP is 2000 or more higher than your opponent’s LP, you draw 2 cards instead. : Trickstar Bella Madonna(Unreleased/OCG) Link 4 LIGHT Fairy Link Effect Monster ATK 2800 Links: Top, Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Materials: 2+ “Trickstar” monsters You can only use this card name’s (2) effect once per turn. (1) While this Link Summoned card does not point to any monsters, it is unaffected by activated effects from other cards. (2) If this card does not point to any monsters: You can inflict 200 damage to your opponent for each “Trickstar” monster in your GY with a different name. III. Spells Trickstar Lightstage Field Spell (1) When this card is activated: You can add 1 “Trickstar” monster from your Deck to your hand. (2) Once per turn: You can target 1 Set card in your opponent’s Spell & Trap Zones; while this card is in the Field Zone, that card cannot be activated until the End Phase, and during the End Phase, your opponent chooses to either activate it, or send it to the Graveyard. (3) Each time a “Trickstar” monster you control inflicts battle or effect damage to your opponent, inflict 200 damage to your opponent. IV. Traps Trickstar Reincarnation Trap Normal (1) Banish as many cards from your opponent’s hand as possible, and if they do, they draw the same amount of cards from their Deck. (2) You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 “Trickstar” monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. This card + Droll & Lock is literally a win condition on its own leaving your opponent with no hand if you time it correctly. You search this off of Candina which is searchable off the Lightstage which is itself searchable off of Terraforming. Meaning odds are if you draw Droll & Lock you can search Reincarnation if it's not already in hand. V. Techs and Staples A. Monsters Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Effect Monster(Handtrap) Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 5 or more cards from your hand, field and/or Extra Deck, face-down, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card gains 100 ATK and DEF for each face-down banished card. This face-up card on the field cannot be Tributed, nor used as Material for a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Summon. Once per turn, at the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles an opponent's monster: You can banish that opponent's monster, face-down. Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow Effect Monster Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) while you control no monsters. When this card is Special Summoned from the hand: You can Special Summon 2 "Vague Shadow Tokens" (Winged Beast-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0), but they cannot be Tributed or be used as Synchro Material. You can banish this card and 1 or more face-up non-Tuners you control, then target 1 "Blackwing" Synchro Monster in your Graveyard whose Level equals the total Levels the banished monsters had on the field, Special Summon it, and if you do, it is treated as a Tuner. Droll & Lock Bird Effect Monster(Handtrap) If your opponent adds a card(s) from their Deck to their hand, except during the Draw Phase, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard. For the rest of this turn, neither player can add card(s) from their Deck to their hand. (Drawing cards is also considered as "adding a card to the hand".) Eater of Millions Effect Monster Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit Effect Monster(Handtrap) During either player's turn, when a monster on the field activates its effect, or when a Spell/Trap Card that is already face-up on the field activates its effect: You can send this card from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, destroy that card on the field. You can only use this effect of "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit" once per turn. Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries Effect Monster(Hand Trap) During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do: You can discard this card, reveal 1 card in your Extra Deck, then look at your opponent's Extra Deck, also banish all cards in their Extra Deck with the same name as that revealed card. You can only use this effect of "Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries" once per turn. Honest Effect Monster(Handtrap) During your Main Phase, you can return this card from the field to it's owner's hand. During either player's Damage Step, when a face-up LIGHT monster you control battles, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to have that monster gain ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the End Phase. Maxx "C" Effect Monster( Handtrap) During either player's turn: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard, this turn, each time your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), immediately draw 1 card. You can only use 1 "Maxx "C"" per turn. Thunder King Rai-Oh Effect Monster Neither player can add cards from their Deck to their hand except by drawing them. During either player's turn, when your opponent would Special Summon a monster: You can send this face-up card to the Graveyard, negate the Special Summon and destroy it. 2. Silent Heroes

Image of desklist: So I saw R2 at Bochum and this guy was against Metalfoes with Destiny Heroes and Silent Swordsman. He actually won 2-0 that match. I done some digging and this is the guy and his post from reddit. I'm quite a big fan of Destiny Heroes so have tried to optimize it and make the Dark Law / Silent as quickly as possible. I'm still not sold on the idea of running 1 Decision / Drill / Celestial but they have their uses and are fodder for the Swordsman. Drill helps empty the hand for Bubble, while giving you another monster on the field to send with Silent. Celstial also has the quirk of popping a face-up spell when declaring. What's nifty with this you can proc his effect then Mask Change to Dark Law to banish it. Then if you have another D-Hero in grave next turn / no hand. You can draw 2. Decision can stall vs BE decks and when summoned, will get you a Hero back in the End-Phase from your graveyard. Overall with the inclusion of the new D-Heroes it gives you the synergy and has some nice draw power. As for cards that didn't make it was the biggest not to get on the list, with no way to regain the resource and multiple A Hero Lives I can't fit it in here sadly :(. I also tried adding the Resonator engine but that just became too much for the deck to handle and bricked a lot. Ties is another suggestion but just leaving 3 Monsters on the field with nothing else to play in game isn't ideal and then it's another 2000lp. I wouldn't feel comfortable going into T2 with 3 Warriors that can't negate and a facedown Mask Change at the moment. Too easy to make S39 Lightning and attack for game. I've been testing this out on Percy just to see what hands are like / how it plays out. It actually seemed quite consistent and what I liked about, it wasn't just going for the same combo. With the different D-Heroes it gives you different ways to approach the state of the game. While popping scales with Celestial. Opponents will also become worried about killing the Silent and you going into LV7 as they lose all their spells while you can potentially have Silent Sword for protection. My favourite board so far is having Tzolkin / Void / Bahumant / Toad, just negating one of the opponents spells/traps with Toad and then using that for Tzolkin in their turn is pretty funny in my books. This decks initial weakness g1 will be Paleozoic though. Silent Swordsman is a bit redundant there but with Dark Law / Jinzo / Decree. They are going to have one hell of a hard time games 2 and 3. With Mali / A Hero Lives - you should be fine tribute summoning the Jinzo to. 40 18 - 21 - 1 |3| Destiny Hero - Malicious |3| Silent Swordsman |2| Elemental Hero Bubbleman |2| Elemental Hero Shadow Mist |2| Summoner Monk |1| Blackluster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning |1| Destiny Hero - Celestial |1| Destiny Hero - Decision |1| Destiny Hero - Drilldark |1| Plaguespreader Zombie |1| Silent Swordsman LV7 |3| A Hero Lives |3| Allure of Darkness |3| Destiny Draw |3| Silent Sword |2| Instant Fusion |2| Mask Change |2| Twin Twisters |1| Foolish Burial |1| Reinforcement of the Army |1| Upstart Goblin |1| Vanity's Emptiness Extra |2| Masked HERO Dark Law |1| Elder Entity Norden |1| Coral Dragon |1| Stardust Charge Warrior |1| Ultimaya Tzolkin |1| Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon |1| Void Ogre Dragon |1| PSY-Framelord Omega |1| Bahumat Shark |1| Toadally Awesome |1| Abyss Dweller |1| Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer |1| Number 39: Utopia |1| Number S39: Utopia the Lightning Side |2| Jinzo |2| Maxx "C" |3| System Down |2| Dark Hole |1| Raigeki |1| Twin Twisters |2| Anti-Spell Fragrance |2| Royal Decree And lastly, thank you for reading. 4. http://www.dailydot.com/parsec/magic-the-gathering-pro-myth/ I posted this on my facebook originally. Allen suggested I share it here as well since it could spark some discussion. The article talks about MTG but can translate over to TCG's in general and how it is incredibly hard to make a living off of them as a pro.

  7. Faeria

Faeria is an early access TCG which seems to have a decent amount of potential. It's currently pay to enter early access, but eventually will become fully free to play.   I've not played Dualyst, but it seems fairly similar in terms of "card games on a board". I've played a few games of this, and it seems fairly decent.   Pricing model seems pretty similar to Hearthstone, can buy packs, or earn them with ingame currency (much faster than Hearthstone mind you) and they also have an offer to buy every released card for about $55 which seems like a good deal.   Anyone else tried this?

  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=UypuQg6nY1w   I for one enjoy the offical Pokemon Video Game Competition and I want to spread its popularity.    You can watch the live stream of the Pokemon World Championship, VGC and TCG here starting at 9 a.m. Eastern Saturday 8/16:   http://www.twitch.tv/pokemon#/pokemon   Incase no one knows the format;   Double Battles, have 6 pokemon, use 4 in battle.   You may only use Kalos Native Pokemon born in Kalos except Xerneas, Yvetal, Mewtwo, Zygarde, so no Hyper Voice Gardivor.   No pokemon on your team may have the same Dex Number, i.e. Rotom-W and Rotom-H.   No pokemon may have the same held item on your team. So no 6 pokemon team leftovers.   Battles are a max of fifteen minutes (internal game-clock).   You are allowed to take notes of anything about your battles.   Top-cut defenitly does best 2 out of 3.         Incase no one has ever seen the pokemon tournament style. I attended U.S. Pokemon Nationals (Open) in Indianapolis and it was the best smooth tournament I have ever attended (I do play Yu-Gi-Oh!).  They could run 6 main tournaments at a time, give us a hour and half lunch break and have us out by 3(starting at 8) with 9 rounds of swiss.  I placed 29th overall in the master divison for my first tournament ever. Day two when best two out of three started with 6 rounds of swiss we still got our lunch break and done by 3.   The prize-support is decent.  I won a mat, and hat, a binder, a shirt, and pokemon cards(there's the problem).   Pokemon qualification for worlds is based upon a point system from all of your events from over the year.   I for one enjoyed this and want others to know about this.   Things to note:   Double battles add a uniqueness to the game by preventing some pokemon to become just overpowered, most notably Mega-Gengar Parish Trap and allows for moves that would never be used, used such as Quick/Wide Guard, Rage Powder, etc.   Time-Limit. I was sick of playing smogon where I had to wait and hour and half for my Skarmory to Whirlwind everything to death. No attack on 6 v. 6 just hour and half is a long time.   The limit on items, allowing for berries and some other interisting items to be used such as weakness policy and safety goggles.   No real defined meta-game except for one thing(Mega-Kangaskan).  Meaning you can pick your favorite pokemon within the qualifications and build a team off of it. My team was actually built around Mega Sceptile believe it or not, I just switched it for Switchroo Manatric.  EVs spreads can be designed for certain pokemon to be outsped or live certain attacks.    Pokemon above level 50 reduced to level 50. Pokemon under 50 remain under 50.   In events of a time running out the winner is determined by: Number of Pokemon left then HP % left, then the amount of HP left.   No Suspect Test. (Alright that one is an attack on Smogon)   As for TCG, idk I don't play it.   IF you're a doubter, a hater, or someone new to this, I reccommend watching the stream for a few matches, espeically near the end of the tournament.  They are enjoyable and can change drastically with luck(probabilty) factors or outplays. Entry hazards are to slow for this style of play though Sticky Web would be pretty good, but calling back can be the most important thing ever.   Format will change with ORAS, though nothing has been speculated.   Example teams:   Mine:
Kangaskan @ Kangaskanite Scrappy to Parental Bond -Fake Out -Return -Sucker Punch -Heavy Arm Jolly w/ 6 HP/252 ATK/252 Speed. Manetric @ Choice Scarf Lightning Rod -Switchroo -Thunderbolt -Snarl -Flamethrower Timid w/ 6 HP/252 Sp. ATK/252 Speed. Bisharp @ Life Orb Defiant -Sucker Punch -Iron Head -Protect -Brick Break Adament w/ 6 HP/252 ATK/252 Speed. Talonflame @ Sitirus Berry Galewings -Bravebird -Flareblitz -Quick Guard -Tailwind, I don't remember and I'm at work so I can't look on Showdown. Adament w/ 252 ATK/6 Sp. Defense/252 Speed Gyarados @ Lum Berry Intimidate -Waterfall -Ice Fang -Taunt -Protect Adament w/ 252 HP / 20 Atk / 20 Def / 28 SDef / 188 Speed ■Survives Modest Mega Manectric Thunderbolt 100% of the time ■2HKOs 252HP Tyranitar with Waterfall 100% of the time   Gengar @Focus Sash -Dazzling Gleam -Sludgebomb -Will-o-wisp -Protect Timid w/ 6 HP/252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed Throughout the tournament I learned a lot about my team and what needed to change. Bisharp was garbage, and took Talonflames item of choice or I should have banded my Talonflame. Snarl needs to be replaced on Manetric and I should have made my Gyarados Spread a little more offensive. But I learned(more like reaffirmed) Mega-Kangaskan is broken and Gengar was my MVP with Dazzling Gleam putting in such great work and standing off mega-kangaskans with burn damage.
Unfortuantly I can't seem to find another detailed team that doesn't have Mega Kangaskan but they do exist.  Hopefully they reveal the next most overused Mega Evolution of ORAS this weekend.   I hope all Pokemon fans take interist and look into VGC.  Showdown does have a simulator with it, but unfortunatly they do level 100s and not level 50s (Since no one is going to take the time to change it and being at a sever disadvatage). And the time limit of 15 minutes and 45 seconds to choose a move also.   Oh P.S. No sleep clause and Dark Void is legal on Smergle. But not that relevant.   Complain, discuss, ask, comment, Pokemon.

  17. Gazer Shark

Gazer Shark Level 5/ WATER/ Fish 1000 ATK 1900 DEF   You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 2 Level 5 WATER monsters in your Graveyard, except "Gazer Shark"; Special Summon both those monsters, but their effects are negated. Immediately after this effect resolves, Xyz Summon 1 WATER Xyz Monster using only those 2 monsters. You can only use this effect of "Gazer Shark" once per turn.   With the game having so many cards that send from the deck to the grave (like Kuribandit, Genex Undine, Lightsworn Support, ect.) it seems extremely easy to set up, and spamming Crystal Zero Lancer's from the grave seems extremely cool.   However, almost nobody knows this card exists. At locals, I have seen people tearing up this card and I am stunned. Am I over-hyping this card, or is it really a diamond in the rough? What are your thoughts? What else can this card do?
