  2. RedeemedOne's Nekroz Deck

Here is my Nekroz decklist for April 2015 Advanced Format. I'll list the deck then go over some card choices...   Monsters: 25   Nekroz of Valkyrus x 3 Nekroz of Unicore x 3 Nekroz of Brionac x 2 Nekroz of Clausolas x 2 Nekroz of Gungnir x 1 Nekroz of Trishula x 1 Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz x 3 Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands x 3 Senju of the Thousand Hands x 3 Effect Veiler x 3 Djinn Releaser of Rituals x 1   Spells: 12   Nekroz Kaleidoscope x 2 Nekroz Cycle x 2 Nekroz Mirror x 2 Book of Eclipse x 2 Book of Moon x 1 Preparation of Rites x 1 Raigeki x 1 Reinforcement of the Army x 1   Traps: 3   Solemn Scolding x 3   Side varies daily and Extra is pretty standard except I include Leo. Reason behind Leo is that because After I've summoned Trishula without using my normal summon I can summon Effect Veiler and Synchro into Leo. It's come up a few times. Other suggestions of other Synchro monsters I could use in this way are greatly appreciated. If you wanna see the deck in it's current incarnation is here...http://i.imgur.com/giLnNJj.png.   I wonder if four outs to the Djinn Lock is enough but so far it has been working out. Mainly because my Meta is the DN Ranked Meta at the moment and I don't always face meta decks.   Solemn Scolding is obviously for a more secure Djinn Lock or for just about anytime really. It can disrupt your opponents plays if left alone by MST. Not my original idea but it's been putting in good work so far. Just while it's that singleton on field it tends to get hammered by what was up until now unusable MSTs played by your opponent.   I want to find some room in the side for Breakthrough Skill because as has been mentioned before this deck gets shit on by Spell Canceller.    And also I haven't noticed a real difference in my speed using only one ROTA because the deck searches itself really well can most times I ran out of targets for ROTA without using AK. Anyone else experiment with this?   Well, hopefully you guys can offer me some input. Help me streamline this deck, please. Thanks.
  3. RedeemedOne's MailRoz Deck

Can anyone help me streamline my deck. Trying something a little different. Excuse the format...http://i.imgur.com/mgOpGWB.png. Trying to utilize a Mermail engine with my Nekroz but I don't think I've quite got it. My instincts tell me that I want to include Linde and Sphere but Sphere's spell restriction kills. Also, is there some way to use rank 7s with Megelo or Steus? Aqua spirit for easier rank 4? Suggestions? Or just tell me to forget about it cause it can't be done. Let me know something, guys. Thanks.
  4. Okay, well I'm going to start off with the biggest thank you possible to the man himself: Mr. Jonathon Gomez. The lover of rabbits himself is the biggest reason I was able to fly out to Detroit to play in the NAWCQ, so everyone stop reading for a bit and clap c: Edward Apaipong lent me the majority of the deck, and Jake Stachowiak of MultiMonster Deals lent me the rest. Thanks guys. I love you <3   Anywho, I've been pretty set on playing Water for this event for a few months now. It is the deck I know most about (besides Dragon Rulers) and the deck I am most comfortable with. I feel that if there is a winning play with the deck in any situation, I will be able to see it. So my Jonathon, David, and I fly out from LA on thursday night, and we arrive in Detroit early Friday morning. Edward (BLS4GAME as most people know him lol) and Kyle have been waiting at the airport for us for hours, and we take a cab to our hotel. Kyle and Georgie go straight to the event and the rest of us check in. I spend about half an hour looking for an ATM so I can deposit money so the hotel can charge my account. I finally do and it says that the money is available immediately, and go check in. They say that my account has insufficient funds, and say I can just withdraw the money and pay in cash for the same price. So I go back to the Bank of America, withdraw 700, and go back to check in. They say they are going to charge me an extra 100 for paying with cash. I get pretty mad at this point, and talk to someone else, who fixes everything. We finally get to our room, chill for a bit, and head to the Cobo Center. We are too late to enter the Attack of the Giant Card event, so I just test with Billy who also was going to play water. We go eat at BWW, and a few miles and a snake or 2 later, I end up paying 5 bucks for 2 mozzarella sticks... .-. I go back to the hotel in hopes of finally eating a Subway Sandwich. At last, I'm at the front of the line. But this is a different kind of Subway. This is.. a detroit subway. My conversation with the Subway lady goes like this: Subway Lady: Whatchu want? Me: Can I get a footlong on Italian, please? S.L: *looks behind her* We ain't got no Italian. We got wheat doe. Me: Sure. S.L: *pulls out a footlong of Italian and cuts it in half* Whatchu want on it? Me: I'll take a Chicken Bacon Ranch. S.L: *looks around* What cheese you want? Me: American. S.L: We only got swiss. Me: Sure.. S.L: Toasted? Me: Don't forget the meat. Chicken Bacon Ranch. S.L: Uh.. Well we ain't got no Chicken and we ain't got no Bacon.   I was gone before she can say another word. I've never smoked a day in my life, but I'm pretty sure I now have cancer.   The next day, I'm sleeving up, but the tournament starts so I frantically finish and run to my table. Round 1: LSR Table: 544 vs Synjyn Vance B. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He opens Charge, double recharge. I don't open too great, but I'm stupid and don't know how to scoop and I play it out. I grind through 2 JDs, all of his Diabolos, and get him down to just necro gardnas, and 1 card in hand. I dweller him so he can't banish for his rulers, but he topdecks recharge. He draws, and his 2nd card is the last JD. He nukes, but I angineer, so I can do something next turn. I make a leo and he stops the attack with necro. He is at 900, so he can't nuke anymore. I make another Leo to get over everything, but he books one in MP2. He big eyes it, crashes, and he is down to 1 card in his deck. I make a field to survive the onslaught, but the last card in deck is a monster and kills me with it. Oh well.. Game 2: The first game took about 35 minutes, and he sides for 3 minutes, so I know this is probably ending in a draw. Sure enough, he bricks and I win G2 in time. Got the draw :/ Result: 1-1 Record: 0-0-1   Round 2: Fire King Table: 435 vs Jonathan David-Maass K. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He sets some backrow, I grind through it with undines and pikes, and I eventually make a big field and I blow him out with an emptiness. Game 2: He tries to survive off of Barongs and Garunix, but ARK takes care of that shortly after. I malevolent catastrophe him for 4 and he can't recover.   Result: 2-0 Record: 1-0-1   Round 3: Worms Table: 211 vs James Patrick W. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He dualities and I see a worm. He takes a trap card and sets 4 backrow and a monster. Undine gets in there and pops his Yagan. Eventually, I grind through all of his backrow with pikes and marksmans, and just take the game from there. Game 2: He starts with a Xex into Yagan, and 3 backrow. Undine pops the yagan and he chains Nebula. I teus pitching an infantry and pop the yagan. Salvage marks and infantry, and discard both for megalo. The next turn, I dichotomy and I draw double MST, and win from there.   Result: 2-0 Record: 2-0-1   Round 4: Sylvan Table: 105 vs Carl Dario L. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He opens lonefire, but I have maxx c. He was pretty enthusiastic when he looked at his hand, so I assumed he had soul charge. He lonefires into another one, and summons big tree. He soul charges and I chain maxx c. His dreams come crashing down and he starts shaking his head. He ends with felgrand and a Mt. Sylvania. I undine, and pop the field spell. I megalo pitching infantry and linde, and he felgrands himself. I get sphere, and salvage back linde and infantry. The next turn, I dichotomy and out-advantage him further and he can't come back. Game 2: He opens lonefire soul charge, and no maxx c in sight this time. I try to grind through, but my side deck cards all get Rose Archer'ed. Onwards to game 3. Game 3: I start off really strong with a Gaios, 2 backrow, and an undine + dichotomy for next turn. He doesn't brick, but can't do much with gaios up. Dichotomy nets me a trap, I undine for a 2nd dragoons, and he can't come back.   Result: 2-1 Record: 3-0-1   Round 5: Madolcray Table: 50 vs Matthew James M. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He opens Magileine set 2 and activates ticket. I teus infantry, popping ticket, and then pike marksman, grabbing undine. I attack with both and he just summons another Magileine and I win shortly after. Game 2: He has Mew + Jelly, but I have maxx c, and he stops on the hootcake. I space his 2 backrow, then megalo pitching infantry infantry. Pop both of his cards, salvage them back, and undine into goons getting marks. I tribute undine to attack twice, and set sphere. To add insult to injury, dichotomy comes off the top, but I just killed him.   Result: 2-0 Record: 4-0-1   Round 6: LSR Table: 27 vs Christopher Gary S. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He opens unreal. Charge, triple recharge. Ends with double lumina, garoth, wulf and a backrow. He drew 2 off of garoth. Fack. I teus, pitch turge, search gunde. Pike pitch gunde, grab undine, ss turge. I exciton, he needlebugs, PHEW! I set 2, but I'm still in a pretty bad spot. Many spheres, lindes, undines, and pikes later, I get him down to 3 jd in hand (lol) but all diabolos and rulers have been used. I soul charge and do a moulinglacia and leed play, and end with dweller, gaios, glacia, angineer. He cant recover with JD. Game 2: He opens Ehren, set 1.   Result: 2-0 Record: 5-0-1   Round 7: Cyber Dragon Artifact Table: 13 vs Dave T. Die Roll: Won :O Game 1: I set t-set linde bts. He summons the stratos-ish guy, which I bts. He sets 4 and passes. I summon undine and search megalo off the goons. I megalo, sending double marks, and he chains cyber network. I realize how cool that card can be, so I intend to PWWB that eventually. After a bit of grinding, I blow him out with emptiness, and wingblast his network to put game on board. Game 2: He opens with the Stratos again, and sets 4. I open triple controller .-. It's k tho, all I gotta do is believe in the babes. I allure into an undine...... FACK. But it's still k, because I have dichotomy. I set linde and pwwb and pass. He ignitions himself, setting moral, but ss beagalltach which brings out 2 moral. He attacks, I summon pike, ditching infantry, and pop a moral. He swings with the rest and makes pleiades. I pwwb it ep. I dichotomy back controller infantry and linde, and summon undine sending goons. I teus pitching infantry and start making a minor comeback. I have gozen set, but I scoop because time is nearing and I'd like to not be turn 0. Game 3: I open strong: Undine set 3. He summons the Stratos, I bts, and he sets 3. I sphere end phase and it goes through. Linde into pike marksman, getting another undine. He eventually makes the rank 5, but I big eye it and win from there.   Result 2-1 Record: 6-0-1   Round 8: Traptrix Hands Table: 8 vs Victor V. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He opens Myrm set 3. I summon undine, popping his myrm and attack directly. I set 2 and pass. He sets another and passes. I summon controller, attack with both, and set 1. He passes. I attack with both and pass. He summons dionaea, ss myrm, popping sphere. I bring out linde, into pike and discard infantry. He tried to bottomless my linde, but I explain that BTH would miss its activation window. I just keep popping his monsters, and never have to summon anything big, rendering his backrow useless. Game 2: He summons myrm set 3 again. I set linde and he attacks into it. I ss pike, pitching marks, hitting a fiendish. I summon undine next turn and pop myrm. Attack with both. He summons dionaea, but I play really conservatively and never play into his backrow. Undine is a good card. He was easily the nicest person I played all weekend.   Result: 2-0 Record: 7-0-1   Round 9: Mythic Ruler Table: 4 vs Qi Long L. Die Roll: Won :O Game 1: I've seen this guy sharking all day about everything he can possibly think of. The previous round, I even saw him shark about a die roll. The opponent starts shaking his hand, getting ready to roll the die, and it slips out and rolls, but is still on the table and he rolls a 6. But Qi wants a re-roll. lol So yeah.. this guy might try to savage me. I set linde and 2 backrow. He shrines, and banishes a dragon from his hand to search a lvl 1 tuner and makes stardust. He sets 3 and passes. I summon undine and send dragoons. He chains skill drain. I search marks and I summon megalo pitching double marksman. He tries to stardust, but I explain that he can't and why he can't. He calls a judge, and the judge explains it to him like I did. Then he chains PWWB targeting my megalo. I lol a bit more and start searching for my sphere, and he calls a judge. I tell him I'm resolving megalo, and he says that it is negated, and I tell him how skill drain only negates monsters that are face up. I don't think he knew how to do anything else but shark. Game 2: I was wrong. He knows how to consonance, trade in, soul charge. Every. Single. Turn....... Game 3: Nah, I was right. This one isn't even close. He has to banish a debris from hand to summon a ruler, just to make blader into my 3 backrow. I keep my PWWB set and just undine it away the next turn. I win shortly after.   Result: 2-1 Record: 8-0-1   Cool, made day 2 with a very high chance of already being locked into top cut. I get very little sleep of course, and wake up at 8:56. HOLY FUCK IT'S 8:56 I throw on some clean clothes, put on some deodorant (HINT HINT YGO COMMUNITY) and use my mexican shower in a can aka AXE bodyspray. Then I proceed to sprint to the Cobo Center. Edward and David were both x-2, so they definitely needed to haul ass, but I wanted that 1st after swiss. I got there like at 9:05 but the round didn't end up starting til like 9:12, so we all made it there without any penalties. I see that I'm playing Steinman so I'm like "oh cool, artifacts."   Round 10: Kuribandit Artifact Traptrix Table: 2 vs Michael James S. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: I believe he sets 3 and passes. I pike, pitch leed, search undine. Once my undine gets on board, things get a little grindy, and I get through all of his backrow, but I get blown out by a main decked needle ceiling. I definitely should have played around it, but I wasn't fully awake. I didn't play optimally and got punished when I deserved it. However, I didn't play too terribly, but he misplays by not playing around vanity's emptiness, and sanctums when I make leo and loses to the emptiness. Game 2: I misplay terribly. I could have won, but again, wasn't really thinking. He has a myrm and a backrow, and I'm following the BTH in his hand, but he doesn't set it. I teus pitching infantry, and he uses maxx c. I have mst, and am thinking I can just space, search linde, and attack with both, and not give him the extra draw off of C. But I also want my space for later, so I decide to summon controller. I try to attack with both and then realize that my teus is obv still fiendish'ed. So I miss out on an extra 1700 dmg. So he is left at 3700, where he would be at 2000. He later soul charges for 2, to make his needle ceiling live. After the ceiling, he ignitions his beagal, sets moral, pops moral, and ss it. He topdecks Dionaea for turn with none in hand to win it in time and get the draw. I didn't deserve to win, so its alright.   Result: 1-1 Record: 8-0-2   Now I realize I can go 9-0-2 for my good buddy Omar. So leggoooooo   Round 11: Madolcray Table: 7 vs Justin T. Die Roll: Lost Game 1: He opens pretty insane, but I'm playing water, and ALL OF OUR HANDS ARE INSANE (not really tho), but I am able to pop his ticket and the majority of his backrow and make a gaios, so he loses. Game 2: He opens insane again, but this time I have no real hand to fight back with. I try to grind out a bit, but he double tiaramisus eventually and I'm done for. Game 3: Fack. I open super slow. I set a controller, and see the 9-0-2 dream coming to a crashing halt. He opens pretty good yet again, and I don't have anything to contest. He eventually wins in time. Oh well, top 64 here I come.   I end up at 43rd place, and see that I am playing versus sylvans. We get seated, shake hands, and start the match.   Top 64: Sylvan Table: 32 vs Phillip Michael P. Die Roll: He rolled a 12 :( Game 1: He lonefires, I chain maxx c, he summons hermitree. Activates charity. Draws a card, sets 1, activates field spell, and passes. I summon undine, sending infantry, he chains D.D. Crow..... >.> <.< >.< <.> FACK. So I have a pretty good hand still, but he pushes under maxx c after using another charity and kills me on his next turn through my 2 backrow because double rose archer is too swag for me. Game 2: I open vanity's and make a board and stop his lonefire. That cripples him, but he has charity. However, he is unable to keep up on my next turn. I could have killed him, but I didn't want to lose to a handtrap. I just apply constant pressure, and win in a few turns. The charity every turn was pretty rough though. Game 3: He opens with charity, set kumo. Next turn he charities again, and makes the Alsay guy. He spins linde to the bottom, and I have no discard outlet. I draw another linde and have to set it, since he has no monsters in atk. He charities again, and spins linde to the bottom. He makes an even bigger board, and its my turn again. I have to set infantry, and I know its over. He charities again, and puts game on board and has the rose archers for my backrow, and I lose.   Welp. I take the walk of shame out of the top cut area, and give my mat to Jonathon. I walk around for a bit, and then we go eat after seeing the very saddening top 4 and finals play out. McCabe, carry the U.S. pls. Our only hope D:   Anyways, here's my list:   Monsters: 30 3 x Genex Controller 3 x Genex Undine 2 x Maxx "C" 1 x Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls 1 x Moulinglacia, the Elemental Lord 1 x Atlantean Dragoons 3 x Atlantean Marksman 2 x Atlantean Heavy Infantry 3 x Mermail Abysslinde 1 x Mermail Abyssgunde 1 x Mermail Abyssleed 2 x Mermail Abyssmegalo 3 x Mermail Abyssteus 3 x Mermail Abysspike 1 x Mermail Abyssturge   Spells: 6 2 x Salvage 2 x Soul Charge 1 x Pot of Dichotomy 1 x Allure of Darkness   Traps: 9 2 x Phoenix Wing Wind Blast 2 x Vanity's Emptiness 3 x Abyss-Sphere 1 x Breakthrough Skill 1 x Torrential Tribute   Extra Deck: 15 1 x Evilswarm Exciton Knight 1 x Number 101: Silent Honor ARK 1 x Lavalval Chain 1 x Abyss Dweller 1 x Number 103: Ragnazero 1 x Ghostrick Alucard 1 x Mechquipped Angineer 1 x Leviair the Sea Dragon 1 x Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack 1 x Number 11: Big Eye 1 x Mermail Abyssgaios 1 x Black Rose Dragon 1 x Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier 2 x Leo, the Keeper of the Sacred Tree   Side Deck: 15 1 x Maxx "C" 3 x Mystical Space Typhoon 2 x Malevolent Catastrophe 2 x Mind Crush 2 x Gozen Match 3 x Light-Imprisoning Mirror       Props: + Spending a weekend with friends + Jonathon + Ed lending me basically the entire deck + MMD lending me everything else that I don't have + Topping nats again    Slops: - Detroit - friends didn't top - Ed and David bubbling again :( - Detroit - sandwichless Subways - not getting a giant hand - Detroit - SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS - Detroit - 60 card monster mash burn   #swag
  5. Top 8 San Jose, CA Regionals 4-5-14 (Has other Decklists from Top 8 too)   Right off the bat I just want to say thanks to the people that made this event possible for me: My friend Nima and his amazing family for letting me crash with them again; just an overall amazing friend. I’m glad he managed to secure his first invite and almost make Top 8 (12th), losing only to first place and second place if I’m not mistaken.   I finished a dull morning of nothing special besides eating some Swiss chocolate on Friday, and decide to drive to the Bay Area from Sacramento around noon to meet up with my friend Andrey (Redlight) so we can chill and test. The last week I had managed to pick up everything for every deck, and had been given a Geargia list by 902 and Clay “Hairy Butt Fetish” Arvizu to test. Marhsaun Young and I also tested Fire-Fists the last week extensively on DN, but, the deck was just lackluster. I was solid with Pure Geargia, even though I was testing that and Fire Fist 3.5. I felt really uncomfortable with any of the decks because they all felt expected and easy to counter. I knew, in the back of my head, and after some collaboration with Andrey that Mermails could be the surprise factor deck that no one expects me or anyone to use for this regionals. I knew how to play it and wanted to make up for my 9th place finish the previous week at Reno regionals (the salt was real). We had a list that was running Salvages and several grind choices but were still iffy on how we could change the deck. We chill and grab some Quickly’s popcorn chicken while waiting for some flakey friends, which never showed up, to show up. We test for a bit and decide to go see Captain America 2 at the nearby theater in Alameda. The movie was amazing and I highly recommend it. Scarlett Johansson is an absolute goddess (marry me?). We get the munchies again and decide to go to Subway and test some more. We work out this savage variant of Geargia and Mermails but are leaning towards Water simply because we felt it was head and shoulders above the competition, especially if the optimal plays were made. The deck is finalized, although some of the small choices in the trap lineup were different for us because of preference going into this event. We leave and I drive to my friend’s house for the evening and test a bit with Geargia there, but am solid on Water being my deck for tomorrow.   Decklist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxBZ0cIxsa0   The morning of the event I am pissed because I realize I left the decklist I had Nima’s sister write the night before in my bag at his house. I scurry for a list but see that there’s a ton of people early in line. I made a few subtle choices that none of my friends advocated for the day. I never really wait in line so me, James, and several others get our lists in. I get a few foreign swaps for good luck from friends.   The event is announced and turns out to be the largest regionals in Northern California history. There were 648 players….damn….10 rounds.   * I lost every dice roll of the day except my Round 9 dice roll*   Round 1: Mermails vs Inzektors (chill guy who was getting back into the game so I had to explain some of the effects/chains to him for his future matches vs Water) G1: I’m freaked because I think he’s using Burn or something at first because all I see is backrows and Messenger of Peace, Threatening Roar, etc. I, eventually, see he’s using Inzektors so I capitalize and just annihilate him through standard water sequences. G2: He opens average like me but I hold a D.D. I sided for about 7-8 turns until he gets Hornet so I crow and win with a couple pushes.   Round 2: Mermails vs Bujins (Chad Buggs, a friend of mine from locals and neighborhood a few years ago) Game 1: He doesn’t open Yamato play so thank Neptune. I grind and am able to read a backrow and a bluff Bujincarnation he had. I played around it, not knowing he drew a second one. They were basically dead so I grind a long game 1 due to that. Game 2: I open trash and no side all game and he goes Bujin.mode and is on the verge of winning when I ask how much time is left. Thanks to Denny running his butt across the room….10 seconds….scoop phase into G3 fast so no tie. Game 3: I establish a solid Bahamut Shark opening with an irrelevant backrow. I push over the course of the next couple turns with Lindes, Pike, and a Tidal to put him at low life, which he can’t come back and deal enough damage in turns.   Round 3: Mermails vs 4-Axis Fire-Fist (Playing my friend Phong again, played him the last two regionals) Game 1: He doesn’t open spectacular so I push with a few weenie monsters to bait all his backrows like two Prisons and Mirror Force to win. Game 2: Tenki into Gorilla plus Dimensional Fissure+3 FD Backrows too strong. Game 3: We started playing and go into time. I push for some damage and bait his Wolfbark I read after he adds Bear with Gorilla in grave and no Tensu play going for him, knowing I have an answer for Bear. I win with Angineer and holding my two MSTs as much as possible for his real backrows.   Round 4: Mermails vs Mermails (Have to play my friend Johnathan, which we were supposed to play earlier/later due to some random bets Clay had going with him). I know his decklist but he doesn’t know mine. I know he runs Moulinglacia and hasn’t resolved it at all during the day so far and jokingly said that I’d be the first and only person he would draw and resolve Mouling against for the day. Game 1: We both open trash with Controller drawing into Undine within a couple turns. I have a strong board and need a MST to his last FD in case it’s BTH for my Tidal but I’m in a losing situation if I can’t get the Tidal to go through just because I opened 2 Turge with nothing else real. The following turn he rips a real card that he apparently didn’t want to tell me and nuts on me with….you guessed it…Moulinglacia discarding BOTH Turge missing a Marksman and Undine. Checked my next draw…MST…..shit. The Exciton play I tried to do miserably failed vs his board of Mouling, Leo, Draco+token, and Sphere. Long game. Game 2: Game 1 was long but I managed to secure this game and am in control for the most part, we go into time and I win just a few seconds after time is called. We are trying to figure out if we’re rolling for it or tying this early. I’m about to just side for G3 as some judge comes by and sees this. He forces us to Draw….worst part of the day so far because this judge was a dick the rest of the day, always around me and trying to scope me the following round too.   I’m 3-0-1 so far. Shit. The grind begins.   Worst part of the tournament begins…   Round 5: Mermails vs Mermails (Andrey Flynn aka Redlight) I would have to play my best friend where we both know our decks inside and out. However, a complication arose. I have made a promise to him a couple years ago that I would owe him a  match at regionals if we played each other again, regardless of my circumstance. I held up my end because he and I experienced some very unfortunate luck that last few events/regionals we attended. But, he didn’t have his invite yet like I did, so I had to give him the match. We chilled and goofed off a bit just getting some rust off for our next matches. Multiple people told me to drop at x-1-1 because I’d be playing all that bullshit decks and it’d be a waste of time knowing my luck of losing on the bubble or before it lately. I ignored them and played on.   At this point I’m x-1-1, so I’m playing serious and going G.O.A.T.mode the rest of the day.   Round 6: Mermails vs 3.5-Axis Fire-Fist Game 1: He opened the Tenki Leopard play but for some odd reason didn’t go through the Horse Prince sequence. Instead, he just set two backrows. I push through with a slow opening and Ocea+Linde attacks, until I draw some Marksmans and Teus to go for lethal. Game 2: He goes Banisher set 5. Well….challenge accepted. Trashy opening but I tried to bait anything with Turge attack. He BTH’s it. I hold onto my Tidal, Teus, Megalo for about two turns until I draw a Torrential Tribute, which I hold off on setting because I didn’t want to get blind spaced or Gyokou’d. I set up MST+Torrent set the following turn and he decides to get greedy and summon Gorrila. I proceed to go TT for game, wrecking any backrow that had an anus the following turn with my nuts.   Round 7: Mermails vs Mermails Chill kid. Game 1: He has Pike Dragoons but makes several questionable plays in a long, drawn out, game one. He, somehow, doesn’t know the chain links of Megalo+Marksman when he has a backrow I read as Sphere, which he didn’t chain until Megalo resolved. I’m shocked to assume it’s not a Sphere when he lets Megalo go without chaining but then tries to chain Sphere to Marksman resolution. It costs him the game. Game 2: He opens Pike Dragoons again but I am able to establish a strong board with Crow in hand for Tidal/Gunde if he should use either. I opt to put a bunch of damage on board and go Gaios with Shark+Trite in case he runs Dark Hole or can get through Gaios then Exciton me for game. Dweller was not the correct play, even in hindsight. I win that game swiftly.   Round 8: Mermails vs Madolche Ghostrick (Sweet & Spooky according to Jhub)*I’m not sure if he used the Ghostrick engine since I didn’t see it any of our games, I was merely told by people that’s what the Madolche player in top tables was using* Seemed like a cool cat right off the block with neat Mario mat. My lovely Naturia Hamjam Jackie McBoobs Bernal lost to him the previous round knocking her out of the tourney (after she lost to Andrey). She makes a remark where she lost to his Acid Golem over her Gaios. I think he’s using either 3.5 or Madolche. Game 1: Long game playing around his Hootcake plays and Angineer and massive backrow. I had to bait his Trap Stun, and the second one he got off Duality. I make a Leo play with Linde on board reading a Fiendish or Dprison. It was Dprison from what he showed me after the game, but Leo got in there and managed to buy me enough time to go Gaios for game with Call of the Haunted. Game 2: Similar to game 1, but he has opening Angineer. I opened very strong but defensive with Black Horn of Heaven, Warning, and a couple monsters. I know he’s not going to prematurely Stun so I just do the whole “I can’t stop your plays, sadly,” charade when get gets greedy for a massive push and gets punished after I make him think I have nothing after the Black Horn on Tiramissu. I warning a Dweller if I’m not mistaken, then go for Gaios, Draco, Tidal, too.strong.GOAT.plays.   Round 9: Mermails vs Lightsworns (Andrew Do-good player and friend of mine from locals, who I saw the previous round was using LS. He tied with Andrey a few rounds prior and they told me what happened, so I knew he used LS.). This was the only dice roll I won all day, and I felt bad because we played a coulple regionals ago and I beat him Game 1 in time in Dragon Mirror grind due to a savage draw on last turn of time. Game 1: He opens terrible and I know he has Recklesses and such, no real backrows other than Warning in his deck. He mills trash with Card Trooper, milling Honest, JD, and Charge. I just do what Water does and push so heavily through his weak opening that I win swiftly. Game 2: Similar to game 1, except he opens four backrows and like a Lumina, milling trash again with a second Lumina. He milled one irrelevant Wulf but I just destroy him with the nuts. I felt bad because he’s really cool and a solid player. He just wanted to top with an obscure deck like max rarity LS for the hell of it.   Round 10:   The Bubble Round….. Mermails vs 4-Axis Fire-Fist (Really nice guy and solid player) Game 1: He draws poorly with no Tenki plays so I pretty much just grind 2-3 turns until I just make a big push only to find out he opened draw into consecutive monsters with nothing short of trash. Game 2: Dimensional Fissure, Tenki, Gorilla, Three backrows. Scoop phase turn 4 after he goes blind space out of my 2 backrow to hit my Malevolent Catastrophe. I scooped without revealing it so he wouldn’t know I ran it. Game 3: We weren’t in time yet but were likely to get to it by like turn 4 or so. We exchange a couple water and fire bending techniques. He manages to go Avatar and topdeck MST for my Malevolent Catastrophe, which I wanted to hit his Tensu and other two irrelevant backs like Tenki and Tensen. He makes Cardinal to bounce my Trite and Shark. I have Gunde in hand from previous turn. I pray to the basedgod and draw my only rip of the day (given my track record, out of the 20+ cards I could have drawn, I’d normally draw the 1/5 bad topdecks). I drew another Linde and managed to do the Shark+Trite play again…lol…I guess I only needed one of each in the extra deck after all. He draws a backrow set, Cardinal to Defense. I use my last two waters banishing Gunde and whatever for Tidal in grave to try and bait it so I can push since we get time called. It turns out to be a Compulsory, which was irrelevant. I put damage on board and he draws another backrow. I rip a MST, which really wasn’t that much of a rip since I had Tidal and Trite in attack anyways and Shark in defense. I put all my faith into stopping YuGi Moutos mirror force with my Space of massive Mysticalness. It works. I win.   X-1-1 after 10 rounds. I’m nervous because Andrey was still x-1-1 and was a table behind me, yet I “lost” to him and he could make it in before me, making me be 9th….again…He was ahead of me in tables for the most part until that last round. Luckily, our amazing Head Judge, AJ Tachella, didn’t allow anyone to intentionally draw the last round. I had a chance. I cry in my Greatest of All-Time mode and pray more to the basedgod that I don’t get sodomized again by shit tiebreakers since Andrey was my loss and Jonathan dropped after he and I tied.   The G.O.A.T. makes it…as 8th place. Still, not too happy about it, but I can’t complain. I didn’t lose any matches in reality during the day since we’ll never know how game 3 would have happened the round I tied, and my match with Andrey will have to wait when neither of us needs to give the other the win. I loved this weekend.  Had some amazing memories from this regionals.   Pros: -Top 8 -iHop -Nima’s sister -Stayed with Nima for the weekend -Andrey also made Top 8 and got his invite. We haven’t topped together since he won with Gadgets several years ago, so that was cool. -Tommy made me less homophobic -Starbucks drive-through -Good testing for YCS Vegas -Captain America 2 -LARGEST NorCal Regionals -Another top -James lending me his Big Eye since mine was English, for good luck. -Making about $150 by the end of the day. -Getting deck profiles after the event. -Denny topping too, alongside Robert Gomez -Nima got his invite, he got 12th, his best performance ever.   Cons: -Not going undefeated or 1st in Swiss because of the draw and giving up a win. -Playing two friends back-to-back and it hindering my potential to top the regionals -Not having enough time to socialize -Nima’s sister ruining my $400 Spellground…the salt was real. -Not spending all day in the Bay Sunday due to a bunch of work I had to do at home. -Traffic -Lack of sleep and food. -Not having time to smash Tommy or Joey for money…again….   All in all, the weekend was fun and I hope to do it again. Onwards to Las Vegas. I’ll have my decklist, Andrey’s list, Nima’s list, Denny’s list during or after YCS Las Vegas. I’ll link the other video profiles of 1st, 3rd, and 4th place Geargia, Karakuri Geargia, and Evilswarms down below as soon as I make each one public on my Youtube page.   Hope to see you all at YCS Vegas, ARGCS Washington, Philly, and Detroit. :)
  6. Trite.dek

I started playing mermails this format a while ago. I went through some of older pages and saw what Evan Vargas posted about the idea of a hardcore grind / control version of mermails that mostly focused on shark + trite. He mentioned reducing the level 7 aspect of the deck to a minimum among other things. I had all those things in mind when I decided to try out a list like this. Basically what I want to do is set up shark + trite turn one as consistently as I can and ride that to victory. If they are able to clear the shark + trite field once, you can just set it up again the following turn.   I still decided to play the lone ocea and megalo because they give the deck something that separates it from other grind based decks and that is: turn 1 autowin fields like bahamut shark + trite + angineer or lavalval chain + dracossack / abyssgaios.     Monsters 23: 3 Aqua Spirit 3 Atlantean Marksman 3 Mermail Abyssgunde 3 Mermail Abysslinde 3 Mermail Abyssteus 3 Mermail Abysspike 1 Mermail Abyssturge 1 Mermail Abyssocea 1 Mermail Abyssmegalo 1 Atlantean Dragoons 1 Tidal, Dragon of Waterfalls   Spells 5: 3 Upstart goblin 1 Book of Moon 1 Dark Hole   Traps 12: 3 Reckless Greed 3 Abyss-sphere 1 Solemn Warning 1 Compulsory Evacuation Device 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Abyss-squall   Sidedeck: 2 D.D. Crow 3 Maxx "C" 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Twister 2 DNA Surgery 2 Mind Crush 2 Overworked   Extra Deck: 2 Bahamut Shark 3 Mermail Abysstrite 1 Mechquipped Angineer 1 Leviair the Sea Dragon 1 Wind-up Zenmaines 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Silent Honor Ark 1 Diamond Dire Wolf 1 Lavalval Chain 1 Mermail Abyssgaios 1 Big Eye 1 Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack       Some of the not so orthodox choices aside from shark + trite stuff: 0 mst - The one thing I'm most afraid of when I play mermails happens to be a simplified field. Mst isn't a combo piece and I feel that mermails have the tools to grind through backrow especially this variant. Still side them for the continuous s/t hate 0 Infantry - Most people have realized by now that this card is really not that great. You don't want to see it t1 if you go first and with all the decks either playing CCD t1 or setting stuff t1, you won't like it going second either. 0 leed - I don't want to ever draw that card and I feel that its utility as a beat stick doesn't follow through with what my main strategy is. 3 Aqua spirit - It's a combo piece that doesn't require a normal summon. I want to open up turn one with either teus or aqua spirit so I can get the ball rolling. If I open both and they don't have an answer, the game is usually over. Playing double shark ensures that I don't mind opening multiple t1 or drawing into them later on. 1 Megalo - Needing two discards is pretty pricey and it doesn't really play into my main strategy which is control and advantage through rank 4s. I still think that he ended up tying several loose ends in the deck to warrant the spot. I still wanted a power card off of my dragoons search. Without leed I needed a big body to special summon off a sphere'ed linde or a dead trite. 1 Ocea - As I mentioned above, this card enables some ridiculous t1 fields and if you draw it, just treat it as the 4th linde. 1 Abyss-Squall - I know a lot of people don't like this card because it requires set-up and what not. There are a couple reasons for why I'm playing this: I cut some other inconsistent power cards like megalo and I felt like I needed more power plays. Usually I bring back two level 4s and a level 7, make lavalval chain to dump tidal, SS tidal, make a rank 7. Making another shark and letting the linde die is also pretty solid It's an out to abyss dweller. Having a power play that does not require you to activate effects in the graveyard is absolutely huge. The usual shark + trite board forces your opponent to use a lot of resources to seize control before they can dweller you which means whatever you make will usually make it out alive to clear the dweller and re-seize control. Reckless Greed - This card is just absolutely disgusting. It digs out the combo pieces you can't search and puts you way ahead in tempo. Drawing two of these is usually game over for your opponent and it has some degenerate interactions with lavalval chain. Stack a dragoons / megalo / teus / whatever monster, flip reckless enjoy your rota + pot of greed combo. I almost feel bad when I pull this off, almost. Backrow - Solemn, CED, bottomless, and torrential felt fairly standard since they work reasonably well against all the decks. Book of Moon - The card isn't particularly powerful, but it's very flexible and with the popularity of trap stun I thought it was a must for those games you know they're saving up for a trap stun push. PWWB - I had one spot left and I wanted something to deal with established fields t1. Although I believe it's the weakest of discard traps, I was looking for flexibility, not strength for this spot. I had a lot of fun both building the deck and playtesting it. I could go back and shape up the side deck and extra deck as I feel I could improve on both of those.
  7.   Here's the list I've been trying at locals, and I've been doing fairly well with it.   Megalo: I run triple Megalo because without Tidal, I like three to facilitate Rank 7 plays. I like to see it more than I used to. Turge: Turge allows for recycling of the one Deep Sea Diva as well as your Infantries and can allow some very unfair things if combo'd with Gunde and a Pike in the graveyard. Having an infantry in the graveyard with this play is icing on the cake. Deep Sea Diva: Despite its limitation on the banlist, it can still be searched by your one Dragoons, and allows instant access to Armades for Bujins, Geargia, and GK's, Armored Kappa to pop face up threats, or even combined with an Atlantean, Black Rose Dragon. Aqua Spirit and Abyssocea: I run two Aqua Spirits and Ocea in the main for the broken Bahamut Angineer play. If you don't draw that well, Ocea allows for an opening like Zenmaines and Linde which is very good. As the very least, Ocea can tutor Linde from the deck with a less-than-optimal hand. Creature Swap: This card is the absolute stones in this deck. If you don't like this card, you've never seen the look on somebody's face when you give them a Linde and take their bigger monster (If it's Crimson Blader, extra lulz). I side a second one for Bujin and decks that make Crimson Blader. Mystical Space Typhoon: I feel like this card is necessary at 3 now, alongside three Marksman (great against Geargia and GK's). Space alone is great for Fire Fists, (gotta hit that Tenki) and great against Spellbooks and GK's for their field spell. Backrow is what holds this deck back from putting well over game on board each turn. Being able to put pressure on board along with getting rid of problem backrow (or forcing premature use of it) is what I think this deck does better than any other one. Maining 3 to hit things like Decree, Soul Drain, D-Fissure, and Macro lurking in random rogue/anti-meta decks is good as well. I side 3 Dust Tornado for anything I suspect may side those 4 cards, because the latter three simply prevent you from playing Yugioh. Dark Hole: I think Dark Hole is good again. With the relative lack of Dragon Rulers in the meta, your field is much more important and less... temporary? Dark Hole is once again a game changing card that I think should come out of the side deck. Abyss-Squall: [TESTING] Not quite sure about this card. It's a +2 if used optimally, which is late game. It's a massive momentum shift that lets you bring out any Xyz from your extra deck (as well as getting a linde effect off, OR coupled with a normal summon, a second Xyz) but it only obviously works late game. It is a dead draw early game and requires a bit of setup. I play one copy because it's really good, and I'm testing it atm. Traps: I play the four one-of traps Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Solemn Warning to help back up the powerful boards this deck produces and to deal with threats the opponent places on board. I opted not to use Compulsory Evacuation Device because of the lack of things to return in bad situations. Yamato? Bear? Megalo or Teus? Armor? It's still a very good out to Extra Deck cards and it is of course chainable to opponent's destruction effects so I would like some input on the use of Compulsory.  Extra Deck: Should be pretty standard, I play only Armades as my level 5 because the primary reason to play that OR Catastor is Yamato, and Armades is simply better for that. Other monster threats can be dealt with with Kappa which provides more synergy. Black Rose is nuts in the deck, all you need is Diva and an Atlantean. Side Deck: Self explanatory. Side third Infantry for Evilswarms. Encore for Evilswarms, Constellars, and Dragon Rulers (or anything else that makes Felgrand). Overworked for Fire Fists, Inzektors, and maybe Noble Knights. Second Creature Swap for Noble Knights and Bujins. DNA Surgery for Bujins and Prophecy. Imperial Iron Wall for Prophecy, Dragon Rulers, and maybe Bujins. And finally, Dust Tornado for super backrow heavy decks, as well as things suspected to main/sideboard any of the floodgate "can't play Yugioh" cards.   Things to try: (are these any good?) Fishborg Archer, Divine Wrath, Lack of Aqua Spirit/Ocea, Abyssdine, Dragon Ice, Genex Engine, Abyss-Squall (currently in) Any comments or suggestions are welcome, this is a new build I'm testing and I want input and criticism. I think this deck has a lot of potential this format, despite the hits on the F/L list. Reason being is because the floodgate cards to stop it are all limited, and it has one of the most powerful removal engines in the game, as well as pumps out Rank 4's and 7's, and as a very powerful boss monster for each of those types. (Bahamut Shark and Mermail Abyssgaios). Thanks guys!
  8. So this thing was just released OCG-side in DP: Kastle Siblings:       Which you summon using this thing (cause screw using the thematically appropriate cards released alongside it):       Freezadon serves absolutely no purpose besides being a generic Rank 5 Water. It's your tax to be able to play Crystal Zero Lancer.   Obviously Constellars gain a new toy, but any deck capable of making generic rank 5 plays can potentially make use of this. A 3700 wall with effect negation is pretty ridiculous. Worth noting there's no restrictions on use of his effect or attacking and that you can also chuck Gaia Dragon on top once you run out of material.   Just wanted to put this out there for future use.
  9. When I first discovered this YCS was August 31st- September 1st on the Metro Convention Centre website and Julia said on Pojo that it was likely still March 2013 Format I immediately began to test Spellbooks. After spending countless hours on it, it was revealed that it would be NEXT FORMAT, so I began to test under the Shriek OCG Ban list. Much to my dismay I finally discover that we would be getting our own TCG Ban list, so with 11 days to prepare for this event my teammates and I began to test everything, we shared our research and concluded that the deck to play was either water or dragons. Josh was showing me all these crazy water combos and his list so I was nearly set on running water until I began to test with Simon He and he was savagely destroying me. Again and again I fell into confusion about what to run, so I did what any scrub would do. Continually harass players greater than me for advice (Sorry Kareem). In the end his great words of wisdom was to run what I was comfortable with, so I settled with water.   Friday: I go to preregistration and meet up with a lot of friends and I am slowly building the deck there. We decided to walk to 401 Games with Simon and Wuphlez because we needed Aqua Spirits and there Simon tells us about this amazing card (Mechquipped Angineer) which was freaking ridiculous. We play test a bit and I quickly head home to finalize my deck list. Victor comes over and we test a little more before sleeping. Saturday: I arrive at the convention centre at 9:20 and quickly hand in all my papers and sit patiently awaiting round 1 pairings.   Round 1: Jeff Jones WLW Won Roll Game 1: He seems to open very bad and I quickly OTK him and all I saw was a bottomless, dark hole, and 2 effect veilers. I assumed he was playing something wacky and sided in 2 dusts. Game 2: I quickly learn he is playing Harpies and get quickly OTKED by the harpie version of RFDD. Game 3: We are grinding the game out and he lighting chidoried me many times and I brought back Bahamut Shark many times as well. Trite stalled for me for a long time and then I do some water shenanigans and put him very low and he loses in time. WHEW. That was a huge relief! 1-0   Round 2: Alejandro Ahearn WW Lost Roll Game 1: I know he is playing Mermails because my friend played him last round. He sets 1, I open god+mst for his sphere and FTK him. Game 2: He flips vanity emptiness with a very weak board and I quickly break it and my XYZ monomermail version quickly overpowers his undine version. 2-0   Round 3: Random WW Lost Roll Game 1: It's blackwings... He summons monsters I pop monsters and game him. Game 2: He had soul drain+infinite back row on for the longest time. It was a passing war until I drew mst and won with water shenanigans. 3-0   Round 4: Cheater Infernity LWL Lost Roll Game 1: He opens Armageddon knight sends stygian; I attack over it and do some water combos. Turn 2. He dark holes, normal summons stygian, activates instant fusion to XYZ summon Lavalval Chain. Does some infernity combos and then after 10 minutes of him playing solitaire he normal summons an Archfiend that he searched for and attacks for game... can't believe I missed that (I recalled it in game 3 afterwards) Game 2: He opened average and I quickly game him. Game 3: Turn 1 he opens crazy with launcher and everything, goes nuts and ends with dweller chain arch 2 set barriers and 2 other back rows I believe? 3-1   Round 5: Random WW Lost Roll Game 1: I’m playing a water mirror and then 5 minutes in a stranger comes and notifies this DUMBASS that he is sitting at the wrong table... illiterate much? Now I become incredibly worried because he saw what I was playing but he turns out to be a scrub running Black Wings that didn't know what Mermails do. Game 2: He had to reread all my mermail cards repeatedly and scooped after having most of his back row popped. 4-1   Round 6: Random WW Lost Roll (1-5) Game 1: I was selling cards to this guy at my locals and know he is running Dark Worlds so I change my play style. Turn 1 he sets 2 so I know he opened really badly. I go nuts and put him down to 1300 and set 2 spheres and over extend (because I know he doesn’t run real traps) and only leave 1 gunde in hand so he can discard it. Sure enough he does some DW shenanigans and breaks my board in the end I had to make a Lavalval Chain play to dump Tidal and SS tidal to attack for game over Trance Archfiend. Game 2: He opens all monsters and sets them and I quickly OTK him. 5-1   Round 7: Aaron Noel LWW Lost Roll (1-6 WTF?! And vs. 2 pros already?!) Game 1: He sets 1 and I know that Water cannot out grind dragons so I go for game on my turn, sure enough he has swift scarecrow. On his turn he goes nuts under my Maxx C and game me. Game 2: I open Gaios+Imperial Iron Wall and poke him for 2x2800 leaving him at 2400. He summons trooper, activate effect to mill 3 and then he knows he has to ram trooper into Gaios or else I game him regardless of Swift Scarecrow. Sure enough his 1 draw was MST, and then he goes nuts. I fortunately had the Dark Hole and game him. Game 3: We both open really bad and it was a passing war, at one key point I was doing a push and did massive damage, and then he crimson bladered my tidal (which has little to no effect). Time was called so I just made a cowboy with all my XYZ plays (at this point I also had a bahamut shark 2 trite) and kill his crimson. Next turn I make an Angineer (MVP) play and simply stall out. 6-1   Round 8: Sehabi at Table 4 WLL Lost Roll (1-7 ultimately 1st place in Swiss at 9-0-1) Game 1: Its water… I simply pop what he has and game him. Game 2: He goes makes this synchro and DDV for most of my hand. Game 3: He goes summon Shura with whirlwind search Bora set 1 pass. I do water shenanigans pop his field and put him at 300 and then do some more plays and end with some big boys and a marksman. He summons Sirocco. Special Summon Bora. Special Summon Bora. Special Summons Gale. Gale half marksman to 700 and Sirocco pumps itself to 6700. He damage steps kalut me so 6700+1400-700. Then in M2 Cowboy for game… 6-2   Alright so I’m x-2 and I’m already incredibly nervous since this is only my second event. I’m texting Josh Graham for some tips since he’s the best fucking player I know and I think it was because of his words of wisdoms that I ultimately (spoiler alert) topped. Jack: “I’m nervous as fuck…” Josh: “You’ll do great. 2-0 some scrubs tomorrow!” Thanks man. And Thanks for creating this broken deck.   Day 2 Round 9: No show 7-2   Round 10: Hansel Aguero WLW (1-8 in dice rolls…) Game 1: My friend told me he is playing Dragons which is true, until I soon find out he is playing Mermail Dragons… I guess that’s a deck now, regardless I grinded through his back row and quickly OTK him with Aqua Spirits and Tidals. Game 2: He does some crazy stuff and quickly games me with stuff like phoenix wing blast my lindes etc. Game 3: We are approaching time and we both open awful. We both had 4 set passing back and forth at one point he had vanity emptiness and at another I had imperial iron wall controlling the game and then time was called. The tempo quickly changed when the right amount of cards started coming together and I grind through some of his back row. I make a bahamut shark which he books, now he only has 1 set, then I make an Angineer in turn 3 of time and pass. On his turn he flips Return and I flip Vanity’s Emptiness and he immediately offers me the handshake. 8-2   Woohooo. First top! Unfortunately I watch Josh, right beside me, lose on the bubble to Sean Coovert’s Evilswarms. We patiently await the final postings all giddy and excited and when it is announced, most of my friends also topped like James Kim, John Valade, Victor Li, Edward Kuang (the eventual winner), and Kareem O’Brien.   Top 32 Bobby Barone LL Won Roll Game 1: I open alright but I haven’t practiced the mirror at all because I didn’t expect any. I do some water tricks, he clearly knows the deck better and outplays me with damage step tricks and wins. Game 2: I open very awful and he appears to do the same as well. After grinding a few resources he summoned his Vanity’s Fiend while I look at my set Vanity’s Emptiness. I quickly lose the game from there as he just pokes me a few times.   After I got eliminated I played some goat with a few friends and then we kept cheering for Edward to win it all, and what do you know he actually did!!! He quickly sold it for $950 American Dollars and we all went to eat a celebratory dinner. Post Thoughts Exactly a year ago I was just an arrogant scrub playing this game thinking I was the best. After my horrendous performance at YCS Toronto 2012 I knew I had to swallow my pride and ask for help. I quickly began to read everything and anything I can, ARG Articles, CoreTCG Articles, PTW, Next Level Magic, etc. A huge shout out given to all those that helped me along this path, namely: Josh Graham Kareem O’Brien Bo Tang And also to James Kim, and Johnny Valade for helping to push each other to greater success, and of course lending me the whole Water Deck :D.   Deck list: http://i.imgur.com/bUWutgc.png   Props: 1st top 15th place after Swiss Most my friends topping Nirmal scrub by round 7 Edward winning the whole thing! If this is still considered "tier 1", then it is definitely my favorite tier 1 deck. I just find it extremely fun and much less expensive than dragons and prophecy. I got the entire main deck for 220 bucks. :D     40 Monsters: 35 3 Tidal, dragon ruler of waterfalls 1 Stream, dragon ruler of droplets 3 Mermail Abyssmegalo 3 Mermail Abyssteus 3 Mermail Abysslinde 3 Mermail Abysspike 2 Mermail Abyssgunde 1 Mermail Abyssleed 3 Atlantean Dragoons 3 Atlantean Heavy Infantry 2 Atlantean Marksman 2 Deep Sea Diva 3 Effect Veiler 3 Maxx "C"     Spells: 2 1 Monster Reborn 1 Heavy Storm     Traps: 3 3 Abyss-sphere     Extra: 1 Armory Arm 1 Ally of Justice Catastor 1 Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier 1 Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier 1 Crimson Blader 1 Thought Ruler Archfiend 2 Mermail Abyssgaios 2 Number 11: Big Eye 1 mecha phantom beast dracossack 1 Abyss Dweller 1 Bahamut Shark 1 Mermail Abysstrite 1 Gachi Gachi Gantetsu   Side: 3 Electric Virus 3 Droll & Lock Bird 3 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 Imperial Iron Wall 2 Eradicator Epidemic Virus 1 infestation terminus

The 2nd Infantry was a Salvage, and I've been flip-flopping back and forth. The rest is pretty standard. Side isn't definite, just fits my locals; the MoP is probably going to become the 3rd Maxx. The Extra is lacking Gungnir because I found that 95% of the time I make that card, BRD would just be safer to go into..I'm not dismissing it, I just made it a lot more in the Undine verson; just my personal preference.

  15. Water.dek (Mono Mermail)

OK So before senior Resident of DGZ and Yugioh Community (Billy Brake) took This "MON-MERMAIL" to YCS Miami and Topped My Build Ws the Undine One with a Teched Teus and Gunde. But, Now After Testing "MON-MERMAIL" Obviously better. But I don't like his list and I believe that you should Play what your comfortable with and how you play you should build the deck. So, with that said, Here is a crack at Mono-Mermails My way and how I've been playing them.   Be warned im a 42 Card Player.   Also, im posting this with the idea of 03/1/2013   Please Give you conjectures and thought on my build. Thx.     List:   Monsters: 25   1x Mermail Abyssleed 2x Atlantean Heavy Infantry 2x Deep Sea Diva (Like 3 But Idk 2 Seems Good Enough) 2x Mermail Abyssgunde 3x Mermail Abysslinde 3x Mermail Abysspike 3x Atlantean Marksman 3x Atlantean Dragoons 3x Mermail Abyssteaus 3x Mermail Abyssmegalo   Spells: 8   2x Mystical Space Typhoon 2x Forbidden Lance 1x POA 1x Heavy Storm 1x Dark Hole 1x Monster Reborn   Traps: 9   2x Torrential Tribute 1x Abyss Squall (Card is the nuts But when i need it its searchable) 2x Fiendish Chain 1x Solemn Judgement 3x Abyss Sphere

Fenrir is an open spot to mediate the grave for Moulinglacia. With this in mind you could potentially take out the Call, Mind, and Fenrirs to put in traps or other cards, its all kinda up in the air at the moment. I'd like opinions and / or ideas if anyone has any, the deck is not doing horribly at the moment but could be a lot better.

Glow up bulb is impossible to replace, plague does a decent job I'd say but nothing near GUB status. D.D. Sprite is amazing in this deck when used with ECon or Mind Control. Creature Swap is troll-tastic, bring treeborn and swap makes them so mad. Birdman and Junk Synchron work well, gives more tuners and more darks. Return lets me reuse tuners, plus brings back anything taken with D.D. Sprite. Locomotion is cheese. Suggestions?
