DarthChocoboz posted a topic in Yu-Gi-Oh! General GroundzWhen i began becoming competitive at the game in early 2012 the general advise people were given when wanting to get better was to 1) 'read articles' 2) 'playtest with better players than yourself' and 3) Join duelistgroundz.com and read their deck discussions. Later on around mid 2013 it also became 4) 'grind out infinite hours on dn's ladder'. But now in the modern day, as a returning duelist I'm having trouble really re-climatizing with the game. 1) People don't write good articles anymore. Ive read every article on ARG dating back a few months and only 1 or 2 were really useful. I've found some useful content on CCG's youtube channel and also ACP put up a video a few weeks ago which was pretty informative. But otherwise i've found nothing good for articles, maybe i'm missing something but I don't think I am. DGZ's content has also fallen drastically so 3) is not helpful either. 2) 'playtest with better players than yourself" is hard because in my country there arn't any players really better than myself and if they are they're not playing at the moment. Also because i've been out of the game for so long I'm not part of any online teams or anything anymore so I can't playtest with anyone online. 4) I also don't think is much help, Usage on dn has dropped a lot and I think most of the best players just playtest their stuff amongst themselves anyway so I'm asking you guys how can I imporve myself in the modern game? The last format i played seriously was Euro/NAWCQ format last year and the format before that was Aprl 2014 when I quit. I've also been playing this format for like 3 weeks so I know what the cards do and a lot of the dangerous interactions, but honestly, I'm stuck. Any help?
