Wayne is white people music because he's a typical MTV rapper and the majority of MTV viewers are white.

same here. =-|

all i really want is for the rap snobs to listen to waynes old shit which is actually good and acknowledge it as such... i mean, jay-z wouldnt take him as his protegé for nothing. however its easy to understand the hate for his newer shit, even i cant stand some of it.

Lil Wayne has some nice older stuff.

So I agree with you.

Atmosphere/=/Lil Wayne

They are different styles (Atmosphere's usaully having an actual message).

Ryu, you have yet to set a criteria for what is and isn't "white people rap".

white people rap: cage, pos, atmosphere, etc basically just look at lazerbeaks posts in favorite artists thread (for the most part) and i think youll get the idea

black people rap: t.i., lil boosie, gucci mane etc

then theres a few that i think you could fairly argue cross over such as kanye west and lupe fiasco.

You're asking me to draw up my own generalizations as to what you believe "white people rap" is. If I were to do that, I'd just say the shit you like consists of mainstream low talent hacks and Lazerbeak prefers his rap music to have actual substance rather than be rehashed chronicles of a nigger. Obviously that's not what you want me to think. Can't you provide a definition for a label YOU created?

whats funny is more white people like the type of music that you call black people music then black people do. and the whole white/black thing is bullshit anyway

you dont know any black people do you? every black person that lives in the south is a fan of "black people" rap, and no, more white people dont like it than black people lol. youre living a false reality. i wouldnt be able to find a black guy aged 15-30 in my city who doesnt like lil wayne, gucci mane, lil boosie, etc and they sure as shit would never have heard of something like cage or atmosphere. sure some white kids like it but not as much as black people. to say more white kids like it than black is just bullshitting.

and no, separating them into white and black is not BS, its the ugly truth. its not factual, sure, but it is a valid way of looking at it, despite how you may want to keep race out of it, there is such a thing as culture. you guys in this forum seem to not be aware of the black culture at all, trying to tell me that they dont like rap as much as white kids lmao. i think you tell yourself this so you can think that the "deep" shit you listen to is what "real" black people would listen to. which is wrong. theres a reason black people make the music that they do... theyre fuckin black.

i think you could argue that more white kids listen to "black people rap" than "white people rap" but its mostly because "white people rap" is boring as fuck. there is no way in hell though that more white people listen to black people rap than black people. you're insane.

i dont see how that could be so abstract or experimental that only white people would listen to it. im sure i could show black people a good p.o.s/atmosphere/cage song and they would like it. also not every black person is gonna like shit like lil wayne gucci mane etc. there gonna like this too. hell BLACK PEOPLE make the music you would call white people music. HOLY FUCK PARADOX!!!!! i know many black people that hate mainstream rap. or if they like it they admit its average. they also like mos def, black star, common outkast, goodie mobb etc.

also not everyone in the fucking south thats black listens to what you call"black people music" dont be a fucking idiot.

LOL@ they make black music cause they're black. what the fuck? do you realize half the time the record companies tell them what to do? why do you think they have to rap about x y and z most of the time? you do know most of them just want money right and are cashing in on stupidity? please dont make me use the soulja boy argument. mtv isnt for the black kids, they have BET for that. mtv and mtv2 is all for the stupid wiggas and teenage girls that think these dudes or hot or hear the hot beat and think the music is good cause they can dance to it or it overglorifies the ghetto.

its fine if you like that but don't expect to not get shit for it when thats the basis of it. im fine with getting shit for the majority ofm usic i like when it gets really experimental but when your gonna be that condescending when your in a glass house also whats boring? i like substance iwth my music. that doesnt mean it needs a shitty beat. i could put on mos def and jam out to BOBS or public enemy and ITANOMTHUS, is that boring?

i love how you dont bring up DOOM or ATCQ. remember when you were all over madvillian 3 years ago? do you realize how much thats called backpacker? hell ATCQ are given shit sometimes for backpacker rap. are they all of a sudden white people rap? theirs a difference between only liking rap for those that dont like rap and not liking the mainstream stuff. i still listen to liquid swords i LOVE OBFCL2.

finally it inst that black and white to say its white or black music. yes theres going to be a majority that likes it but there also a gonna be a close number or more of the opposite side that likes it. you do realize hipster kids like wayne and gucci? you do know theres black scene kids right? i went to a saosin concert in the city and i saw at least 10 different black kids who were scener then a studded belt bought from hot topic.

Here's where you first went wrong. You tried to pigeonhole what you thought my views were here. I dont have to necessarily agree that all of what might fall under the category backpacker rap for you will also fall under the category of "white people rap" for me.

Then you got all specific about the rappers I used as examples for white people rap when I really probably couldnt tell them apart if i tried seeing as how I've probably only heard 3-5 songs by each. They were really just the first rappers that came to mind when I thought of your taste in rap, I wasn't specifically attacking them.

first of all p.o.s lyrically isn't that different from people like immortal technique chuck d etc. only difference is the former he isnt pants on head with it and can actually flow the latter he isn't against white people just the government. just cause he has influences from fugazi and refused doesn't make him white people rap.

Yea. I'm going to be honest, I didn't go through and read every one of these lyrics but I did read a few, which is probably about as much as I get in return when I post good Lil Wayne verses. Anyway, the few that I read are typical of this kind of rap. They have intelligent wordplay, diction etc and tend to talk about some social or psychological issue. The lyrics aren't bad, but they get boring, tend to drag on about the same thing. But then there's the CloudDEAD stuff lol what kind of pretentious repugnant shit is that. That Cage verse was pretty good though.

i dont see how that could be so abstract or experimental that only white people would listen to it. im sure i could show black people a good p.o.s/atmosphere/cage song and they would like it.

No. Most black males aged 15-30 would not like the average POS/Atmosphere/Cage song.

also not every black person is gonna like shit like lil wayne gucci mane etc. there gonna like this too.

Not all of them but most of them. And you realize I'm talking about hood black people, too, right? Not any wealthy niggers or anything like that. I could go on Facebook right now and look at the Favorite Music of every gangsta nig that goes to my school and I guarantee you we'd see a positive trend in my favor.

hell BLACK PEOPLE make the music you would call white people music. HOLY FUCK PARADOX!!!!!

I was under the impression POS, Cage and Atmosphere were all white? My bad I guess if they're not.

i know many black people that hate mainstream rap. or if they like it they admit its average. they also like mos def, black star, common outkast, goodie mobb etc.

Yeah I guarantee they're some college boy uncle tom or something. Not hard or anything like that.

also not everyone in the fucking south thats black listens to what you call"black people music" dont be a fucking idiot.

Black people do.

I don't think you know anything about most rappers or the industry man, you just want to believe there's some kind of conspiracy involved with anything that's popular and it's like trying to control everyone or something. Most rappers come from a very poor background and become popular by pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, most by selling drugs and getting enough to finance an album, Ludacris is a perfect example of that. Once they get a deal they talk about the things they do in their life when they rap, or at least the things they'd like to do, I'm not going to be naive and believe every damn thing a rapper says. Point is though they arent told by the industry what to rap about. Good example is Lil Boosie, listen to almost any song by him and I guarantee you wont notice anything in his content that can be related back to something that would be solely used for corporate gain. Sure a rapper might name drop a brand every now and then but it's because they use that particular brand or advocate it, not because their label told them to do it. As much as you might want to believe it, you arent going to be brainwashed into buying a certain product by listening to black people rap. Maybe you should try to learn a little something about black ghetto culture instead of assuming that record companies tell them to say it?

And I think Soulja Boy is wack. Most any nigga will tell you that too, he's pretty much just for girls and stupid white people.

its fine if you like that but don't expect to not get shit for it when thats the basis of it. im fine with getting shit for the majority ofm usic i like when it gets really experimental but when your gonna be that condescending when your in a glass house also whats boring? i like substance iwth my music. that doesnt mean it needs a shitty beat. i could put on mos def and jam out to BOBS or public enemy and ITANOMTHUS, is that boring?

i love how you dont bring up DOOM or ATCQ. remember when you were all over madvillian 3 years ago? do you realize how much thats called backpacker? hell ATCQ are given shit sometimes for backpacker rap. are they all of a sudden white people rap? theirs a difference between only liking rap for those that dont like rap and not liking the mainstream stuff. i still listen to liquid swords i LOVE OBFCL2.

Cool, I applaud you for wanting substance in your rap but that really isn't why I listen to rap. I still like Mos Def, Tribe, and MF Doom. Like I said earlier, I could care less about what is and isn't considered "backpacker". And in case this confuses you, my tastes are not confined only to my definition of black people rap.

finally it inst that black and white to say its white or black music. yes theres going to be a majority that likes it but there also a gonna be a close number or more of the opposite side that likes it. you do realize hipster kids like wayne and gucci? you do know theres black scene kids right? i went to a saosin concert in the city and i saw at least 10 different black kids who were scener then a studded belt bought from hot topic.

Like I said earlier I'm more talking about hood niggas. I'm aware that scene black kids exist, I'm not trying to deny something like that... I realize there are anomalies and black people who aren't from the hood.

I'll take the high road and not beef up my post with lyrics too hehe

And in case this confuses you, my tastes are not confined only to my definition of black people rap.

finally it inst that black and white to say its white or black music. yes theres going to be a majority that likes it but there also a gonna be a close number or more of the opposite side that likes it. you do realize hipster kids like wayne and gucci? you do know theres black scene kids right? i went to a saosin concert in the city and i saw at least 10 different black kids who were scener then a studded belt bought from hot topic.

theres your debate. if anyone tldr's me i will suspend you.

Like I said earlier I'm more talking about hood niggas. I'm aware that scene black kids exist, I'm not trying to deny something like that... I realize there are anomalies and black people who aren't from the hood.

I'll take the high road and not beef up my post with lyrics too hehe

fuck it im in a bad mood so im taking the piss cause your just spewing blanket statments

first of all you dont even know what "white people" rap is. its called backpacker rap. it was originally anything that was underground. are you gonna go by backpacker rap? cause then ATCQ is white people rap. Mos Def is white people rap. same for kweli and blackstar. for the sake of this ill use white people rap in your terms as well as backpacker for how its seen/was originally seen.

p.o.s is NOT white people rap

cage is NOT white people rap

Atmosphere is debatable cause slug did things with anticon so ill leave that as moot

cloudDEAD IS white people rap

dalek IS white people rap

noah 23 IS black people rap

Here's where you first went wrong. You tried to pigeonhole what you thought my views were here. I dont have to necessarily agree that all of what might fall under the category backpacker rap for you will also fall under the category of "white people rap" for me.

i wasnt trying to do what your veiws were but try to make a general claim for what backpacker rap is so i cna use it. if i pigeonholed then w.e but it was really unclear on how i could go about it so i just went with it.

There ain't nobody to be pretty for fuck it

Let it rattle

Let the clatter kill em

Let the cataclysm wash

Who really listens?

Precision with a verse draws a crowd

I draw a line between easy melody

And piece of mind

Spit the plain pain

Its a god damn recession

Show a little respect

You Pfizer babies

Look how they hate

You really think a president would represent you? (Right)

That Cage verse was pretty good though.

i wasnt even expecting you to read all of it haha, to skim is what i wanted. i cant read lyrics of a song that much anyway i get distracted. i can see if you think its gets boring, but i see it as just social type of rap. its what i like cause i can relate to it. the beats also help a hell of a lot, like with p.o.s imo. i just cant relate to straight gangsta rap and thats one of the biggest reasons i dont like it, as much as im going into the cliche thing im not one of those rich white kids im actually poor and depressed. also i hate clouddead and all that so i agree its pretenious bullshit hi5 etc. yea the cage was really good but then alot of shit happened to him and he just went out of left field with his newest album which i really dont like.

i dont see how that could be so abstract or experimental that only white people would listen to it. im sure i could show black people a good p.o.s/atmosphere/cage song and they would like it.

i know what you mean but its like, part of me honestly thinks that fi you know what this is like why would you want to listen to it like that. i feel like its overglorified alot of the times.i feel that would piss off alot of people, or it could at least be taken in a different direction. ill admit ive never listened to gucci so i dont know anything aobut him so i wont talk for that but i do know of what i used to listen to.

hell BLACK PEOPLE make the music you would call white people music. HOLY FUCK PARADOX!!!!!

I was under the impression POS, Cage and Atmosphere were all white? My bad I guess if they're not.

P.O.S is black slug is half and then native american with white and cage is white

i know many black people that hate mainstream rap. or if they like it they admit its average. they also like mos def, black star, common outkast, goodie mobb etc.

Yeah I guarantee they're some college boy uncle tom or something. Not hard or anything like that.

i could pull out Gentris(though idk if he likes goodie mobb and he doesnt really like outkast), but what's really is hard? as far as im concerned it only matters if your street smart and know how to hold your ground so you can get out of a situation safely. not saying to not fight but i think its better to run away from a fight sometimes then get shot.

also not everyone in the fucking south thats black listens to what you call"black people music" dont be a fucking idiot.

Black people do.

elaborate

LOL@ they make black music cause they're black. what the fuck? do you realize half the time the record companies tell them what to do? why do you think they have to rap about x y and z most of the time? you do know most of them just want money right and are cashing in on stupidity? please dont make me use the soulja boy argument. mtv isnt for the black kids, they have BET for that. mtv and mtv2 is all for the stupid wiggas and teenage girls that think these dudes or hot or hear the hot beat and think the music is good cause they can dance to it or it overglorifies the ghetto.

And I think Soulja Boy is wack. Most any nigga will tell you that too, he's pretty much just for girls and stupid white people.

i will admit i blanket statemented with that. and i know they actually come from the ghetto and had to sell drugs and all that, but you cant honestly tell me that some of them took advantage of the ring tone craze and sacrified lyrical talent/cred(this can be seen in many different ways) to make alot of money. im not gonna say everyone did but it is apparent all over the place cause they can just say no. and i mean it annoys me sometimes with some of he wack phases that go around like autotune(you cant tell me that isnt annoying) though that isnt as much as what the record company is and more just trying to jump on a bandwagon.

its fine if you like that but don't expect to not get shit for it when thats the basis of it. im fine with getting shit for the majority ofm usic i like when it gets really experimental but when your gonna be that condescending when your in a glass house also whats boring? i like substance iwth my music. that doesnt mean it needs a shitty beat. i could put on mos def and jam out to BOBS or public enemy and ITANOMTHUS, is that boring?

i only did lyrics for examples for you to skim which is why i only did a verse each instead of like a whole song. and i know theres hood people. long island is the most segregated place in the country and theres alot of ghetto here. my point just was that its dumb to just blanket statement and like i can see some of the more ghetto kids who want something new to go to something like mos def or kweli, i know they wouldnt run to p.o.s but theirs always the situations. he grew up poor and i went to punk rock before rap and he was in the midwest.

i tryed to bold it so you could read it better cause i was too lazy to go through qouting everything

You know how much I love a thread where a skinny white pothead pretends he has black cred?

It gets even better when he fights an emo kid pretending to have black cred.

I need me some popcorn

[Also Nick, if a rapper namedrops Refused and tours with Saosin he's probably aimed at a somewhat white demographic]
