I like Shoegaze because it's the most dreamy genre of music out there. It's nothing to completely fuzz over, it's either you like it or you don't. No one is (or should be) forcing it down your throat to accept it. It's just a favorable atmosphere to all of us who like it. It has the same effect as post-rock except I believe sometimes Shoegaze completely exceeds and at the same time shits on post-rock. It's just that there aren't as many good shoegaze bands as post-rock and that's ironic considering there aren't many good post-rock bands either.

Also Clayton, if you haven't heard Klimt 1918, you should get "Just in case we'll never meet again (soundtrack for the cassette generation)".

I dunno about the shoegaze/post-rock thing, man. I've listened to some shoegaze, MBV, Slowdive, pretty much everything people try shoving down your throat and none of it touches Young Team. I'd go so far as to say there are EitS albums as good as Loveless.

When I said educated in music I didn't mean that literally, that's why I had the bracketed 'lol' after it. I was more or less just saying that to point out that shoegaze probably isn't something someone who casually sits around and listens to radio/myspace music would know about.

that wasnt at you but i think i misread what ash meant.

the only comparison between shoegaze and post-rock I see is that both of them have suffered from the imitation of their definining albums

Also, use the goddamn subforum

they're suposed to be put into here first than go to the forum. this place is dead anyway so who gives a shit if it comes here first

because people move my shit on other parts of the site to dead forums like the pointless, retarded youtube forum. i feel that if i am going to have a stick rammed up my ass then so should everyone else ya feel me?

I put this on, turned it up and went to take a shit across the hall; sounded pretty good. I have decent expectations for when I listen to it properly. for now discuss instead of arguing about loveless

in before thread dies now

I think hes mad.

I used the term shoegaze around some people who didn't know what it meant and it turned into an inside joke. Anyways everyone who likes shoegaze needs this album

I dont get why shoegaze fans arent more constantly sucking Boris's dick.
[/quote]

The fact that they've never recorded a single shoegaze song/album and the closest they come is their drone output or the Torche split probably has something to do with it

I really don't get why Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth are listed as pioneers here, neither of them really had much to do with shoegaze at all (I mean, I love them both, but hell, The Cure were a bigger influence on most shoegaze bands than either of them)

anyway, I usually like a lot of newer shoegaze bands more than I like the classics for some reason, as lame as that is

I mean, this album fucking ruled, even if they should probably be paying Alison's Halo some royalties on it

I hope some people here changed their minds about Loveless. How can you say Only Shallow is the only good "catchy" song there. That's pretty shallow guys

Also seconding the Luminous Orange suggestion (although haven't heard this specific album). Their stuff is great.

It's a pretty decent mini album. If you like their stuff you should listen to that. Cottontails is one of her best songs.
