Alright, boys, you know the drill by now, let's make this shit rock. Bring me what images you can scrounge up, and we'll hammer stuff out.

We won't have true HQ images for about one or two more days, sorry to tell ya.

But let's debate the semantics now to get some stuff over with

Fairly sure we should dump Dyson Sphere's Tengaisei bit since Konami never translates the side text with Numbers. Though, I'm a bit curious to "its "エクシーズ素材を持っているこのカードが攻撃されたバトルステップ時に1度だけ発動できる" Text, as it either allows it infinite attack negation or a one off attack negation, and I have tried to check, and this the only time the text has ever shown up together.

One time only, during the Battle Step, if this card is attacked while it has Xyz Material:

Oh, I thought it used Xyz Materials as a cost.

Yeah, it's like Atem says. It's 99% a "once" effect like Fulhelmknight.

What bothers me is the lack of "kagiri" (限り) these effects tend to have.

I'd expect kagiri only for an effect that doesn't activate, OR an effect that needs a specific card to be face-up on the field for both activation and resolution.

This should be neither.

What I'm concerned about is that once only effects tend to say that they're once only while face-up, and this doesn't say it.

So a case of Konmaiese.

Also, these have been posted over to the BBS, but not sure how much more HQ pics will be, as Japan's really weird when it comes to picture quality. =X

This is what I'm talking about. Fulhelmknight is a "once" effect, but "once" while it is face-up. How far does the "once" on Dyson last? Once ever? If so, why not once per Duel?

I find it weird that it doesn't use Xyz Materials. I think it may, just may be possible for it to reset its Attack Negation once it runs out of materials.

I'm pretty sure it's once every battle step. I can't think of what it is on the top of my head, but there's a card that says "once" without face-up in the effect, but it's not once only, but rather once everytime that something its effect pertains to happens.

Hmm, Dark Mist maybe?
Once per battle, during either player's turn, when an attack is declared involving this card and an opponent's monster: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; halve the ATK of the opponent's monster, and this card gains that same amount of ATK.

このカードが相手モンスターと戦闘を行う攻撃宣言時に1度、このカードのエクシーズ素材を1つ取り除いて発動できる。
The problem would be the "dake".

Other than that, there's BW - Silverwind, but it does mention "while face-up" in the OCG.

I totally didn't check 500 Cards...baka.

ness is so moe.

Yeah 96 is what I was thinking of. I'm honestly thinking maybe the dake is just Konmai trying new things in writing texts since they've actually started doing that in Series 8.

Blah this is impossible to come to a conclusion accurately.

The reason Dark Mist needs to specify "once per battle" is simple.

If it did not, it'd be a walking mess of SEGOC.

"When an attack is declared" is an event with no Spell Speed.

This event activates certain triggered effects. Example: Dimensional Prison.

Now, if I declare an attack, this activates my opponent's Dimensional Prison.

I can Chain Book of Moon, targeting Prison's target.

My opponent can Chain a second Prison, targeting the still-currently-attacking monster - you know, the monster already targeted by both Book and the first Prison.

The gist is this: when an event or incident with no Spell Speed activates something, that activated thing does not have to be any specific Chain Link for its activation to be legal.

If I declare an attack, Prison doesn't have to be Chain Link 1. It can be any or all of the Chain Links.

Compare to an event with a Spell Speed - the activation of a card or effect. If the activation of a card or effect activates something else in turn, that second activation must actually Chain to the first activation which caused it.

The activation of a Spell Card activates Magic Jammer: Magic Jammer must Chain to that Spell Card.

Now, Black Mist responds to an event with no Spell Speed.

This means it could be any Chain Link.

Now, then - without Black Mist saying "once per battle", what's to stop me from activating Black Mist's effect, then Chaining that same Black Mist to itself, in perpetuity as long as I still have materials to detach?

So in other news we need a substitute for Abyss

THAT ISN'T DEPTH

I suppose Depths works though.
We've got plenty means to convert Abisu mons into Abisu STs, ergo this would be our undoing in some ways if we substituted it

There's also issues around Kingshark, Barrier Statue, Designator, Dark King, Contract, and Diabolos, if we leave it as Abyss.

What a damned mess.

It was more a desperation saving throw than anything else.

Oh, we can't use abyss or abyssal? then let's give them THE BEST ABYSS EVER

Here's one

The hadal zone is below the abyssal zone in terms of depth.

Abyssal? Nah, let's go Hadal.

I'm using Depths because no TCG S/T has this in the name and if it ever comes up in the future you can always use "the deep" or even "abyss" itself to bypass it.

Aye - that's why I went with Hadal, though, except that there's absolutely zero chance of it coming up in the future

Essentially, Depths is to Hadal what Hieroglyphic is to Hieratic.
