although i think bug control is way past its prime and outclassed by deathblade

I have no clue why people use this saying. Fuck lucky and be consistently good.

In poker I'd rather be lucky than good. In magic I'd rather be good.

In reality I'd prefer just being fucking both.

Do you think the skill gap is greater in Magic than poker? I'm not good enough at either to make a qualified statement on that.

Yes, I do. Some of the top of the line, most accomplished players have tanked entire years. It seems like (this is going off watching event streams for like 3 months) that the accomplished mtg players are consistently doing well at nearly every event they enter. They may tank 1 or even 2 events if its not in a format they're strong in, but overall their win/loss record is usually in contention late into every tourney. The same cant be said for poker.

Poker has a choice few players who do well on most fronts, but they play so much, their sample size is huge. If you look at their tournament history online, you'll see all the failed tourneys they busted out early in. There are ways to get INCREDIBLY unlucky in poker, and it's a type of luck you have no control over. Poker does require a level of psychoanalysis that mtg doesn't really use, but the factor of luck changes everything.

Not exactly sure why they featured UWR vs GB. Horrible matchup for GB seems worthless to feature it.

Gerry makes it a fun time always putting the match from 0-2 to possibly win 3 strait lol.

I hope he gets back to back wins

in tenjums t8 feature

Neither Junk Aristocrats nor Naya are considered big favorites in Standard currently, and coming into the Invitational you wouldn’t have thought these players are either.
