Official Chaos Return Format - April 2006

46 posts in this topic

Alright, Kind of gets boring playing goats every now and then but this was a pretty fun format. Stein was annoying so we can ban stein.

The format revolved around Summoning Chaos Sorceror's and then end game flipping return for the win. This was the format where Floaters really became important in the game as you could flip summon Zaborg and have field presence.

There were monarchs that topped along with dark world and Chaos return.

People did tech 1 stein along with 1 last will, but I always though stein was Dumb, and should be banned from here.

NO OTK / FTK / Burn / Stall For Obvious Reasons.

All Sets till Enemy of Justice are legal. POTD is NOT Legal.

Post your DGZ / DN so we can get some Chaos Return games going!

Pretty relevant to figure out whether you're playing pre or post Apprentice Magician ruling change. Apprentice/Swap decks were actually a thing after the change.

what was the ruling change? it sounds like something i remember happening but i don't actually recall what happened

It was changed around July I want to say.

Before the change: If you control your opponent's Apprentice Magician and it dies, you get to search.

After the change: If you control your opponent's Apprentice Magician and it dies, your opponent gets to search.

Basically the difference is that Apprentice+Swap was changed from a non-bo into a combo.

I remember Adrian Madaj maining an Otohime at Worlds, a pretty good sign of how much Reaper warped this format.

This was my favorite format. Faint - DGzFaint.

Fuck Last Will though, they changed the ruling just before the start of this format so you could play it AFTER your monster had been destroyed, if I remember correctly.

Also Tailong from etc made a 12 monarch deck, I dunno if he pioneered it or what but it was insane. Basically have 12 monarchs, 3 cydras, jinzo and goldd as your tributes. Hit treeborn into the grave early and then a monarch every turn and you've basically won. If you don't draw treeborn, it's a good job you deck 3 soul exchange, 3 econ, brain control...etc. Problem is bad draws, hand full of monarchs ): but when it got going it was pretty impossible to stop.

Also, victory in my first game vs bigdevilyogi, good games. I have my old deck for this format that I absolutely love. Wasn't a Viral Toolbox pretty awesome this format too? So many viable decks this format, it was so versatile it was fantastic!

This is my third all-time favourite format. My first being Goat Control and my second being Synchro Plants.

I'd like to play with you guys too.

Wim: Reapers slow the deck down, hence none.

Random tech Goldd is fantastic.

I hate the amount of dead tributes in this format, and you seem to have a LOT of opportunities here for dead hands. Has it been testing alright?

Dead hands are SO unlikely. Goldd is nearly always relevant cos of Reapers, Zaborgs are easy to get out...sorcs are pretty much essential, despite being dead on occassion. It's yet to lose a match testing wise.

I'm down for this, although Stein can be fun to play with, I'd probably vote to ban it unless otherwise stated in the duel note.

Freed seems dumb in there. No offence. Only good Mid - Late game.

Last will was only good with tech'ed cyber stein / exiled force. And you don't run any of them.

The deck I think is more suited for Previous format. Where people ran widespread ruins / Saku
