I think I'm one of the few people here who actively browses 4chan, every thing else hints of reddit.

my main boards are /mu/, /b/ and /a/, i hit up most of the other boards every now and then but not too often.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why they're so critically acclaimed? It could be because I think indie and folk music sound like shit, so I'm definitely biased, but it seems nearly everyone on the internet thinks itaots is one of the greatest albums of all time. I can't even get 20 seconds into a song on that album without turning it off.

"I don't even understand why people think they're good, I haven't even listened to it"

Uh.  If you don't like it that's fine, it's certainly not something for everyone.  I think I like NMH mostly because of the lyrics and how emotional the music is.  Two-Headed Boy pt 2 is intense and one of my favorite songs of all time.  ITAOTS isn't something I listen to often (I guess I used to), but I still appreciate it.

My dream girl don't exist.

I really, really was into NMH a few years ago and when Jeff started doing shows again - I was all over that shit like syrup on flapjacks. I rarely listen to them, but On Avery Island is my favorite album.

But I have listened to it. I don't think I need to listen to an entire album beginning to end to judge what I've heard by them. I'm not saying my opinion is the best because like I said, clearly I'm biased. I just don't see what all the fuss is about and I'm curious as to what people who like them see in them. Are they innovative? Is it their lyrics? Idk

If you think you don't need to listen to an album from beginning to end to judge the work you should just stop sharing opinions on music.  You don't just watch the 3rd and 8th scene of a movie and go yeah this is shit.
