So everyone on busses here calls out Thanks to the driver when they get off

Only if I exit through the bus entrance, otherwise he can't hear me if I exit through the back.

For the most part only older people do, young people going too school busy glued to their smartphone gg

If you dont give the busdriver a handjob before you get off, you cant get off at all.

I try to be friendly with the bus drivers around school, particularly the ones stuck on the weekend night shifts they usually have dope taste in smooth jazz

MBTA drivers I say hello to when I get on/I say thank you if I leave from the front door

Honestly didn't realize that it wasn't standard to acknowledge bus drivers

Unless they just let a passenger get a free ride (and even then, doubtful tbh), no one thanks the driver where I live.

New Yorkers don't give a fuck, lol.

i say "have a good one" or some shit like that

SEPTA is p bad tho. a lot of it isn't the worker's fault but i think the shittiness of the organization rubs of on some conductors/drivers. like yesterday when i tried to board a train and they literally closed the steps to the train in front of me and rolled away. Kinda hard to show respect to these guys if they are gonna be assholes likes this

Growing up in the Sacramento, California area, I never heard anyone thank the bus driver, but that's probably because a large majority of the people who rode the bus were high school students.

Now that I'm attending school in Central Cali, it's hit or miss. Most people don't, but whenever I do take the bus, there are at least a few people who do thank the driver before getting off.

Basically every single person in Ireland does it, at least on the inter-express. Not so sure about local city.

In the UK, it seems to be a pretty regular thing - or at least it has been everywhere I've been.
