Europe is doing a means of guaranteeing players a way to get into National Championships if they can’t attend a YCS or similar event.

Begin your journey to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship by taking part in WCQ: National Trials! These are special tournaments that reward you with extra prizes ahead of your country’s WCQ: National Championship.

WCQ: National Trials are tournaments held at participating stores in the weeks leading up to a country’s WCQ: National Championship. A Trial winner is rewarded with sponsored entry to their country’s WCQ: National Championship (they pay no tournament entry fee but still get participation boosters for registering).

In some countries, a WCQ: National Trial is held the day before a WCQ: National Championship at the same venue. These may be referred to as Last Chance Trials depending on which event you attend.

Some countries may also award WCQ: National Trial winners with a special VIP package when they attend their WCQ: National Championship! Additional perks of this package include sponsored tournament entry, discounts on on-site catering, priority registration for Main and Public Events and more!

There is no invite needed to attend a national championship, everyone was already guaranteed to get in (with reservation for venue space, or said player being banned) even if they couldn't attend a YCS or similar. A national championship is in every essential aspect just a glorified regional with top cut that gives a YCS prize card to the winner.
