Approved War Formats

Broadly speaking, there are two types of team wars. These will be explained in this thread, as well as the formats they are to be played in. All match results in all wars are to be reported to WarBot through the Discord channel. Every war should have its own thread in the Team Wars & Ranked Games subforum. The title of the war should be as follows:

Quote

[X - Y] Team A vs Team B

where X is the type of war, either Regular or Exhibition, and Y is the format the war is played in, either Goat or Advanced. Example as follows:

Quote

[Regular - Goat] Damage Step vs Order of the Seraphim

Regular season wars

Regular season wars will be held in a round-robin format throughout the course of the 3-month season, separately for each format (Goats, Current Advanced). A regular season war occurs over the span of seven days. Teams have three days to submit the roster they plan to play by naming an A duelist, a B duelist, and a C duelist. Over the span of the following four days, teams will war their respective opponents for their regular season war in 3v3 format, which works as follows:

-Each team selects three members to play for them, ranking them in order of A-B-C.

-As play each other, Bs play each other, Cs play each other. The team with 2 or more wins is declared the winner of the war.

If wars are not finished by the end of the four-day period, activity losses will be handed out for any and all unfinished matches at the discretion of War Council. The team with the best record in regular season wars at the end of every season will receive a small prize TBD.

Exhibition wars

Exhibition wars are played in the formats most are familiar with from DGz and other warring sites. These are set up independently at the discretion of team leaders, who can agree amongst themselves which game format and war format they would like to play in. Exhibition wars need not be limited to the approved formats for regular season wars (as of now, Goats and Current Advanced).

The "default" format for these wars is typically Double Elimination, in which every team starts with 6 hearts and each player is eliminated after losing twice. Additional formats include Heart Points, which works like Double Elimination, except players can lose any number of times without being eliminated, and Crossfire, in which teams agree on rosters of 6 or more players (same size for each team), and each player is eliminated after losing once. If no match is played for an exhibition war after seven consecutive days, either team captain may request that the war be ended by War Council, as explained in the thread here.

A player may not play in more than two consecutive regular season wars for the same team.

Edited this in. We'll see how this works.

if Activity prevents it from working we can come up with something else.

I reverted to the old rules, e.g. without a restriction on consecutive 3v3s per individual, for the time being. The minimum team size has been appropriately adjusted.
