I finished LOGH. 110 episodes. Awesome anime. 10/10 but I felt still had room for improvements.

This season is stacked for me. Attack on Titan, Re: Zero & Neverland. God damn that is an amazing lineup.

I wanted to start this, but then we got the reboot which is just so much nicer looking. May still watch, but its a huge investment

Im beyond hyped for Yuru Camp S2

first season i found like a month ago and it was p much the perfect series for me - Shimarin is my spirit animal

I've heard good things, but slice of life doesn't really do it fo me (he says after just watching Rent-A-Girlfriend)

As for what I'm watching

Carryovers:

Black Clover - The new wave

Jujutsu Kaisen - Seems overrated as fuck. Very disappointed.

Higarashi - Feel like I will need to rewatch it to appreciate it.

Rwby - Poking the show begging for it to actually do something this season

S-Tier

Re:Zero - If Part 2 lives up to the hype of Part 1, then it will be anime of the year - And I am saying this with A NEW CODE GEASS ANIME and 86 (who's soundtrack is authored by the hypegod Hiroyuki Sawano) on tap for Spring 2021. I hated Re;Zero Season 1, but Season 2 is like a completely different anime.

Beastars Season 2- I don't know why I enjoyed Season 1, but if it can match it, we have a contender for AOTY.

A-Tier

Attack On Titan - I feel like this is getting overhyped. Don't get me wrong, its good, but its not the god tier people are making it out to be. Feel like it has no chance of beating out the above.

Promised Neverland - See above. Season 1 was okay.

Slime Season 2 - I want it to be good, but I am seriously fearing it will get repetitive and lose its charm.

Dr. Stone S2 - Feel the same way about Dr. Stone that I do about Slime Season 2. Let's see where it goes.

B-Tier

2:43 Sein HS Volleyball Club - What if Kageyama from Haikyuu met Hinata one year later? Stay Tuned for the result Next Time on Edgelord Volleyball Fantasy 2:43

Watchlist/Catch-up Queue

Empty - The pandemic has really given me more time than I thought so I am open to suggestions.

yeah Yuru Camp is literally just cute girls camping... but they camp properly, and I really relate to one of the characters' camping style - it's a series that speaks very personally to me

Sakuga simp confirmed (not that we didn't already know that). I hope the 2nd cour is better than the first. Really feel jujutsu is massively overhyped.

I don't think Jujutsu isn't without it's flaws. In fact I think there's a ton of problems with the stuff that'll be covered in 1st and 2nd cour, but I think gege has written some interesting characters and developed an interesting world for those characters to inhabit. Also Mappa has done a great job so far.

Also if you still need recs you should watch Rakugo.

Always in need of recs. I'll check Rakugo out.

I have a feeling the bolded is what you like more so than the show/story itself. Idk Jujutsu Kaisan just seems so generic to me. There is nothing about the atmosphere or world-building that stands out to me. If I had to choose one aspect that is lacking in particular, it is that nothing is defined.I keep harping on it, but the hallmark of good world-building to me is establishing a very defined ruleset and limitations for the characters from the beginning and committing to it throughout. By doing so, the characters and their actions become even more impressive because they have to suffer the consequences of these limitations and impress the viewer by working within the rules to overcome them. That is how you create a suspension of disbelief and staying power.Death Note is probably one of the best examples of this principle, but almost every great show has it.

Jutjutsu Kaisan has rules, but flagrantly disregards them as is convenient for the author. It is the same with the "consequences," which have little to no weight whatsoever. Deal with Sakuna is the perfect example. My feeling on it is that if neither the author nor the characters seem like they give a fuck about the consequences, why should I?

Having caught up on Higurashi (meaning the current season only), I have a whole new found appreciation for why this season was such aa shock to fans out of nowhere. The last few episodes finally provided the context that was soreely needed to viewers that had not seen the previous seasons. To that end, I think the author and directors did a good job of giving ols fans something new while also providing new fans with the original experience, which, needless to say, is difficult to execute.

The show itself to me is not all that impressive, but the execution is nonetheless. Should definitely get consideration for something at AOTY 2021 (directing, original story, whatever you want to call it)

I actually don't think that the tone of juju is captured that well by whoever is animating it. I really liked how weird and dark the manga is, but i feel like the animation style is just so generic and shounen-y. The atmospheric nature of the manga def isn't captured.

Fair. I haven't read the manga, but again my thing is with the story itself. It just isn't believable. I do think the anime accentuates the shounen cartoon-ish characteristics to an extreme degree.

wonder egg might go down as one of the best shows of the decade

OH COME THE FUCK ON. It isn't even the best show this season. The plot makes 0 sense. Its like they pulled everything about good about madoka and cut it out.

I don't hate wonder egg. I'm watching it. But every week I am left with a WTF did I just watch?

Eh I think you can argue Madoka did something novel or to improve upon those series by taking a typically non-dark genre (magical girl) and making it go really dark. It was at least refreshing in that sense.

Wonder Egg Priority is probably the most well-animated show airing right now, but as a story it does not make a ton of sense whether directly or visually. If SSSS Gridman and Mongatari use imagery to enhance their stories. I feel like Wonder Egg Priority relies on it too much. There is still another half a season to go, but I just feel like it is trying to tell too much of its story visually and not actually giving us substance.

That is literally what Utena did.

Idk I guess I am not describing it right then. I feel like with Madoka given the art style, pre-plot storyline etc . . . it was just kind of a surprise attack where with Utena, it did not seem to be that much of a blindside. Its been a long long long time since I watched Utena and I could be thinking this because Utena was one of the first things I watched in terms of anime. Very possible, it's just me or I am misremembering.

That being said, my main gripe with wonder egg is that it tries to tell too much of its story visually.

So many shows ended with a let down

Re: Zero - I honestly think the most important part of this season was only alluded to and left out.

Beaststars - Same deal

Promised Neverland - just promising you will never do anime original again

Overall, promising season has fallen completely off the rails.

Need to catch up on it, but it would definitely be the exception.

The endings this season for most things were a trainwreck

weg=flip flappers 2.0. you don't need that scifi bullshit, when you have such strong characters.

I'm picking up blue reflection, looks promising so far.

Things I've picked up for the season so far:

SSSS.Dynazeon

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord No I'm Not Looking Up How to Type a Fucking Omega

Don't Toy WIth Me Miss Nagatoro

Super Cub

Higehiro (this one is gonna be a giant dumpster fire i cant wait)

I also got bored a few days ago and started watching No Game No Life - i'm on epi 9 and while it's not blowing me away it's certainly easy enough to digest that shredding through the series in a week hasnt been a problem

Not sure if I'll pick up Slime Diaries or not - S2 ended on a cliffhanger and i dont want to watch a bunch of filler to dilute that - but i like the characters and world so...
