and how much of a science is geology ;)..

no really...

ok let me get the boat rolling...

many of the concepts in Psychology are "abstract" concepts.. (this is why Scientology has such a crusade against psychology + psychiatry, even tho psychiatry includes medical consideration - psychiatrists ARE medical doctors).

now what i'm loosely asking is: just because the ideas are "abstract" rather than "absolute" does that make psychology not a science at all? less of a science? or regardless, does it mean it is as much of a science as the 3 core sciences (bio,chem,phys)... oh and maths ;). (realistically speaking we know that physics and maths are the most exact out of the common 4 appreciated sciences... but thats just by the way..)

however, with the "other" sciences, we have to remember that ideas keep changing.. as quite simply it TAKES one thing to prove many things wrong and thus disband a theory... (or reduce its absolutism, to being true except for say "one known exception.." etc).

now onto psychology...

howmuch of a science is it???.

discussion of Freudian ideas + Concepts, other "psychological science" concepts, etc wanted... if you ppl actually know about them

lol seems like i am going to badly need rei to step in soon.. if the boat doesn't get rolling!

---

oh and you can still use "psychology-specific" terms to judge psychology. :)

and remember psychology isn't solely "philosophical" or "conceptual"... there are quite a few "physiological" considerations taken... but it's not quite medical at all.

geology is the dreary science. right at the bottom of the science table of usefulness.

"usefulness" does not determine how much of a science something is.

theoretical, and then practical, efficacy & exactness do though.

i kinda understood that bro..

but i was being sarcastic aswell as posing a rhetorical question when asking how much of a science, geology is.

yeah :D just pissing about a bit.

In fairness psychology is a science, wether people claim that its ideas are abstract or not. The majority of the science we use nowadayz evolved from 'abstract' ideas. Its merely one of the younger sciences.

A better question would have been philosophy as a science

... i was gonna have another topic for that ;)..

but i came across an essay title i had b4 i jumped college ship... "How much of a science is psychology?"

...barring you from this cuz i wana see what everyone else has got.. i know what you got :).

but it's kinda dry, so I will come out with my statement:

Psychology IS a science, but is an inexact science

..hope that helps the wheels to turn....

and ggoddamit more ppl posT!

(rei il probs end up letting you debate lol... since it's empty and dry in here)

Psychology is pointless and retarded to consider a science, everyone thinks totally diffrentally in some way. So how can they compare results?

^ what the fuck?

Thinking patterns are similar in most humans.

I think the question Takeo was trying to get across was if the assumptions of psychology can be factual (science) or too different to be considered that.
