265.93 on DIA will probably be a short if it hits before FOMC due to lack of momentum but it is a single inflection reversal trade.

FOMC today. So the market will likely stay in tight range until the interest rate announcement. Then the market should make huge candles. The question is, in what direction? It is possible to take both the long and short side via a strangle (an options strategy that hopes the market moves big either up or down. If the market moves enough in a direction, the value of the option will become over 100% while the other loses almost all its value, thus turning a profit. The Realized Move needs to be greater than the Expected Move- that is, Implied Volatility vs Realized Volatility). It often happens that the initial move should be faded- so if the market moves up, they should short it, and vice versa. This does not always happen, and generally one needs to be quick to get in and out in the event of reversals. It will probably be a tricky day.

Also wondering if I should keep posting if there's even a point and if so, what? Forecasts? Methodology? Live trades? The market is nearing all time highs too so if it gets there, there won't be so many lines to play with so I'll have to rely on individual stocks which I am not as good on, unlike the simultaneous hit strategy... trend trading is better but I kind of suck at just buying and holding. Its easy but being this high makes me secondguess...I'd love the market to crash though.

You're right. If they could trade, they would have used their strategies to make money themselves rather than sell it, as a profitable system is extremely valuable. This is why most are snake oil sellers. It's been that way ever since cavemen were trading their things with other cavemen tribes. Today is no different. This is why I learn to trade based off of old trading books and ancient strategies. I really don't believe that the computers of today somehow have changed that aspect. Human nature remains the same and is reflected in the charts. It is simply a graph of the psychology of the masses.

and dont forget most wall street types are trying to sell their services to others, being discredited is not very good for that business model
  9. Daytrading free money thread

/ES hitting 2940.4 and DIA hitting 265.93 on the same 5 min candle hit should be a short.

Jim Simons, creator of arguably the greatest hedge fund in the world, shuns the Wall Street types for their dogmatic thinking and hires PhDs, code breakers, and so on who have no financial experience, in order to improve his fund. Generally, out of the box stuff fails, but the best strategies are out of the box types in all competitive fields. Not that I'm saying mine is the best- but everyone has something they're good and bad at so just go with what works I guess.
  11. So I'm reading up on bears because I spent all my weekends in the woods now and the funniest shit ever was in Russia, they trained ten black bears to 'guard' a grow up... but they were too domesticated and ended up just like, sitting on the hoods of the cop cars when the cops showed up

People don't like people outside their definitions of 'what works' - threatens the ego Hell it took me two or three posts to really keep up with what you're sellin just because my gut reaction to almost any 'this is a way to make money' commentary is intense scepticism.

You are right. It's stupid, but I got into a dumb argument with a guy on the internet who is legit rich with a mansion and all (he had proof) and we were arguing about methods on VXX. I said I'd go all in with my life savings if the setup presented itself just to prove a point and I posted the numbers for them to happen. It did just this morning as shown in the picture, VXX hit resistance at the same time DIA hit support. He then argued that I should have had went long vol and not long the indexes as per the methodology, and I said that wasn't the case due to the gap determining if something was support or resistance, and how could I have went long vol when there was no double hit? It was dumb, but whatever. I think I'll just leave from there. There are a lot of smart people there who know how to trade but none of them do it the way I do and so they just don't get it.

my gut instinct is it doesnt scale well for a diversified portfolio, but product knowledge in specific niches seems like an obvious and smart way to make a buck. I wouldn't want to sell this product to people for their RRSPs but for doing it yourself i dont see the big deal outside of a fairly high risk%
  15. Daytrading free money thread

Hmm. From other trading forums, everyone have been saying this strategy is trash because it is doing technical analysis on a product, vol, that has no basis in doing so. Getting bashed pretty hard lol. No one believes.
  16. Final Fantasy 7 Remake!!

I'm not sure if there are any other trailers but these have been the best two that I've seen. I think the game looks pretty good. It looks like a hack and slash with a mix of commands during limit breaks. I think the Materia showing up in the weapon is a nice looking visual. Overall I'm very excited. I'm curious if Square is going to cut any parts of the game (Cross dressing) or how they will handle death. I'm stoked though. Coming out 2020 so it isn't too far away. EDIT - Apparently they are releasing it in installments. This first piece will be Midgar only. That's less exciting but we will see how they handle it.

Yeah its like playing a slide show but tbh im still surprised it can even run on such a tiny machine. if you compare the graphics of botw1 to xc2.. similar games/scopes, i'd argue xc2 is less complicated yet zelda runs and looks 3x better. we are just limited by the fact we are playing on a portable pc. i might do a few screenshots later of this game.

VXX down over a percent in less than an hour. Yay
  20. Daytrading free money thread

Looking at premarket prices, VXX will likely open under its previous price floor, becoming a ceiling. Therefore, it should decline. 26.68 appears to be the next support level and it can reach that this week.

That reminds me: BotW2 better be a stable 60 FPS. An argument could be made about BotW1 on Switch being held back due to being a WiiU port/Switch rush job, but for BotW2 in 202X there’s no excuse for anything less. BotW1 not even being a stable 30 on Switch was annoying at random times. It even dipped to around 0-10 frames in Hyrule Castle in some spots.

follow that guide fella also here is a comparison video which i think is quite cool: that was posted a year ago. the difference is probably bigger now. we have custom colour grades (i have my own personal one where I've put the green to vanilla-levels whilst keeping everything else pretty much looking incredibly ridiculous cos i feel the light coloured green grass is kinda iconic to BOTW.. and bright green grass looks cartoonish). this allows us to remove the white fog/white cast which nintendo obviously put on to hide the draw distance, poor texture filtering, poor resolution etc. honestly its breathtaking. i even have motion controls enabled on my PS4 dualshock. its literally a BETTER experience than what I had on my switch. also don't let the visuals and colour grades distract you from: FUCKING 4K AND 60FPS... CLARIFYING 60 FUCKING FPS. its like the switch version is a slide show compared to this shit.

Yes. There are so many discount brokers out there now. Robinhood is free- they sell your info and execution is terrible, can end up losing money from just that. On the other hand, ThinkOrSwim and Tastyworks is excellent- Tasty offers just a $1 commission per option contract per leg for a max of $10. Over 10 and the rest are free. $1.25 to open and $1.25 to close a futures contract too. ToS is not as cheap but offers way more in terms of charts, studies, etc. Some use a combination of both- having some holds in ToS to fill the minimum requirement in order to use their services then trade in a different brokerage.

when i last looked into day trading more than a decade ago transaction fees for individuals killed it if you couldn't literally be on the floor I assume that's changed?

Dang. Quite disappointing tbh. But that's how life goes, ups and downs. That old Worm Linx Snipe Hunter deck wasn't really any good. I just happened to get lucky using it in a grindy metagame where it fared better than normal (still wasn't good, I'll be the first to admit- to rogue stuff mainly it lost), but it was a little after Qli and the pendulum mechanic came out that it really became obsolete. I had some big wins over a few legends in the game but only online so it means nothing and it was never good enough to win major tournaments. I can look at my stock strategies and see how technically, it is similar to the deck building methods I use. Helmet.dek pretty much. The analysis is done beforehand (line drawing) and there is really no decision tree involved. Hard to translate it further to YGO, but yeah. Neither is an easy game. Just a few days ago I know a guy who blew his whole account. Scary stuff. He'd been trading for years too. Just gotta keep reading, learning, applying, readjusting. I just thought it'd be cool to see what kind of strategies the players here could come up with in trading. Other forums are just kinda meh. I don't want to sound like a showoff but I've been doing well and others online consider me to be one of the good ones, so it isn't easy finding someone to discuss technical methods with. People just don't understand. Also, like in YGO, if a strategy gets out, everyone else uses it and then it stops working. My edge/secret in the game is how I calculate the price points- googled it and nothing came up so I have to develop it further by myself from scratch pretty much. It's all good though. It's part of the game.
